The goal of this game isn't to stump the next person, but instead to give the next person as many ways out as possible. Here's how we play. 1. Person posts a favorite movie quote and names the characters/actors. 2. The next person can quote another movie by any of the prior actor's co-actors, but not from the actors in the quote. For example Colonel Mustard: How many husbands have you had? Mrs. White: Mine or other women's? Colonel Mustard: Yours. Mrs. White: Five. Colonel Mustard: Five? Mrs. White: Yes, just the five. Husbands should be like Kleenex: soft, strong and disposable. Colonel Mustard: You lure men to …

We’ve survived 2019 and are a year away from a new decade. Here are a few things that happened in the past year: Elon Musk was in the news a lot as he revealed the Mad Max-inspired Tesla Cybertruck to gasps, started to dig a tunnel beneath Las Vegas, opened a factory in China to build Model 3s, and was found not to have defamed a British cave explorer by calling him a "pedo guy" when he was insulted. To the dismay of short-sellers, Tesla’s stock price recently hit an all-time high. In the world of politics, the Mueller report was released with lots of anticipation but not much else. The sitting President became the fourth impeached, for abuse of power and obst…

What do you see as unique about North America as a place to market cars? Why do some cars, which sell well elsewhere, like the Jag F type, rot on dealer lots here? And why do we sell cars like the KIA Soul like candy to a pedophile?

Sir Christopher Lee, whose death at the age of 93 was announced on June 11, was an actor who used the modern art of cinema to evoke ancient feelings. Standing at six foot five and with a voice like chilled silver, Lee was a druid capable of inspiring deep terror, a conjuror whose skills belonged just as much to the bards of some long forgotten land as they did to the studios of Hammer. Sir Christopher Lee, a man of grand performances and operatic portrayals, brought something unique and ancient to our screens.

Happened across this earlier... http://www.classicresto.com/mambo/content/view/96/43/ Basically, its not finished, but its step-by-step restoration of a '86 Grand Prix 2+2... except they are modifying the car to have an Escalade drivetrain (6L80!), GTO seats and to make the rear window part of a hatchback. Very cool... will be nice to see the finished result.

So, you all know I lost my job with the energy company almost exactly a year ago. Then Covid hit and jobs became scarce. I got a contracting job in June with a local government as their Project Manager and also acting as Director of I.T. Well, Friday (tomorrow), my contract is officially up. My boss has decided to extend my contract by 30 days and then January 11th, hired me as a direct employee. I'll be getting a 5-digit raise to come on plus my health insurance costs will drop by about $4700 a year. We're still figuring out the title, but at the moment Director of Special Projects is most likely. I really enjoy working there and I'm happy to have this whole…

The Newest Wonder of the World: The Ruins of Modern Greece WSJ ATHENS—Georges Kalaras used to view with pride the sports hall built near his home here for the 2004 Olympic competition in rhythmic gymnastics and ping pong. Now, he gets mad every time he jogs by. "Look, it's locked!" shouted the 38-year-old Mr. Kalaras, who works for the Athens city water company. Two stray dogs tangling with each other behind a padlocked metal fence accounted for the only activity in the complex, which seats 5,200 people. Mr. Kalaras figured the steel and glass hall, costing taxpayers $62 million, would provide recreational space in his neighborhood. Officials envisioned concerts or s…

Vanity Fair Thousands upon thousands of government employees take to the streets to protest the bill. Here is Greece’s version of the Tea Party: tax collectors on the take, public-school teachers who don’t really teach, well-paid employees of bankrupt state railroads whose trains never run on time, state hospital workers bribed to buy overpriced supplies. Here they are, and here we are: a nation of people looking for anyone to blame but themselves. The Greek public-sector employees assemble themselves into units that resemble army platoons. In the middle of each unit are two or three rows of young men wielding truncheons disguised as flagpoles. Ski masks and gas masks …

I threw together this collage to show a long-running & widespread practice for a number of decades. You have your Chevys, Fords, Dodges, Internationals, Studebakers & Jeeps commonly doing the same thing on multiple truck lines : painting grilles (and sometimes also bumpers & headlight bezels) white versus the higher trim's chrome pieces. Looking back, it's interesting to me that it was pretty much universal. White is usually the cheapest paint, but in my opinion; it looks a lot better than unpainted black plastic. Wonder how a 'stripper' trim modern truck would look done up in a similar manner?

I have to say while watching the show I was overwhelmed with each and every point made during the discussion. Its taken me three times of listening and I am still learning more and more about what Bob Lutz’s statements contain. I really am looking forward to June when I can buy Bob Lutz’s new book “The Car Guys vers the Bean Counters” The Battle for the Soul of American Business. It seems like many folks are either in a state of disbelief or a state of indifference with regard to the breaches, namely the Equifax breach, among others. So, 143 million were impacted and our population is now probably around 325 million. When you remove the under 21 crowd, the elderly on limited incomes who aren't doing much with credit, and folks who don't have much input into their credit reports because they don't use it, that's almost all Americans between 30 and 70. Their investigating the situation was big news at the very beginning but I haven't heard much about it. I don't believe that the company's stock took much of a hit. Then, on the heels of that…

Okay, as I was browsing the interwebs I happened upon something that blew my mind: degree programs and courses in aftermarket automotive accessories! Here I am with BAs in Philosophy and Italina Literature when I could have gone for this instead: http://www.northwood.edu/flash/aftermarket/ And, surprisingly, Northwood isn't the only school to offer these kinds of courses. There are a few others such as the course offerd by Stark State as well (see here: http://www.starkstate.edu/automotive-aftermarket) and it seems that these are actually specifically involved with teaching you the elements of installation and theory. Anyway, has anyone heard of these or had any experie…

After Ford released Bold Moves: Episode 15; Pitching the Fairlane Concept, we saw parts of what we all thought was the production version of the Ford Fairlane concept, or was it??!! I just got the recent December issue of Motor Trend, and according to them, the Fairlane concept will be very different. Was what we saw just a cancelled prototype? An idea that was originally the answer, but isn't? When wil it debut? What will it's production form take on? Thjese answeres are but to be answered.

Huge ice island could threaten shipping lanes Another Titanic? Scientists scramble to plot path of massive chunk that broke off Greenland STOCKHOLM — An island of ice more than four times the size of Manhattan is drifting across the Arctic Ocean after breaking off from a glacier in Greenland. Potentially in the path of this unstoppable giant are oil platforms and shipping lanes — and any collision could do untold damage. In a worst-case scenario, large chunks could reach the heavily trafficked waters where another Greenland iceberg sank the Titanic in 1912. It's been a summer of near biblical climatic havoc across the planet, with wildfires, heat and smog in Russia …

I LOVE to WRITE. I interned at a local newspaper "back in the day" and had many articles published. Recently, another article I wrote was published; this time, online. I've also added a bit more to my Route 66 story. AUTO ADS Last time here, I posted a thread with a bunch of older commercials that caught my attention: Then, Drew posted an article I wrote about commercials: ROUTE 66 After my September 2009 road trip along Route 66, I started writing a Route 66-based story. I finally added a new section in late February 2011, just as the host website was disbanded. So, the entire story is copied in here. Soon, my story may have a new home; details to be deter…

You may have noticed on the front page a new block with the three main social media networks in the upper right. Can I ask a favor of you for all of those on Facebook and/or Google+? Can you like us on each of the networks you belong to? In the case of facebook, this is different than liking our Facebook page, this is liking the Website on Facebook. So even if you already follow our Facebook page, please use the button on the front page again. The number of "likes" a webpage has on Facebook is factored into our website ratings which I will explain in a separate post. Currently, we have 3 "likes" on facebook. Can we get to 25 "likes" on Facebook this weekend?

Cuba to cut 500,000 gov't workers, reform salaries AP Cuba announced Monday it will cast off at least half a million state workers by early next year and reduce restrictions on private enterprise to help them find new jobs — the most dramatic step yet in President Raul Castro's push to radically remake employment on the communist-run island. Castro suggested during a nationally televised address on Easter Sunday that as many as 1 million Cuban workers — about one in five — may be redundant. But the government had not previously laid out specific plans to slash its work force, and the speed and scope of the coming cutbacks were astounding. Cuba's official work force is…

Recall: Various Volvos, Different DCXs, Few Fords The government announced four auto recalls Wednesday affecting about 300,600 vehicles. More than half of the vehicles being recalled -- 170,099 -- are Volvo passenger cars, station wagons and SUVs from the 1999-2002 model years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. Volvo Cars of North America, a unit of Ford Motor Co., is recalling vehicle speed controls on some C70, C70 convertible, S60, S70, S80, V70, V70XC and XC70 models. A malfunctioning electronic throttle module may cause the vehicles to unnecessarily go into "limp home" mode, in which the vehicle's speed is limited to 10 to 30 m.p.h., NHTSA s…

While looking around GMs FastLane web site, I came across this awesome story covering GMs military concepts that have been created to meet the needs of our armed forces. Some of them I could see being wanted by the public such at GMs Silverado Duramax Diesel Hybrid system where the Diesel motor can also serve as a 30kW generator. This could so be useful during storms when the power goes out to your home. Check out the cool pictures and info here.

One fast–growing American industry has become a conspicuous beneficiary of the recession: for–profit colleges and trade schools. At institutions that train students for careers in areas like health care, computers and food service, enrollments are soaring as people anxious about weak job prospects borrow aggressively to pay tuition that can exceed $30,000 a year. But the profits have come at substantial taxpayer expense while often delivering dubious benefits to students, according to academics and advocates for greater oversight of financial aid. Critics say many schools exaggerate the value of their degree programs, selling young people on dreams of middle–class wages…

First, to the admins, I wasn't sure were to put this as it is a comparison so it isn't just Ram or Toyota.. so move it as necessary. Also, I assume you do not want entire articles copied and pasted so I'll start it and then post a link to the rest of it. To the article. "Ah, the off-road pickup. The niche's profile has really been elevated over the past half-decade even if sub-brands such as Pro-4X, FX4, and Z71 have propped the field up longer. Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor went on sale in 2009, and suddenly it seemed everyone wanted to be an off-road enthusiast. The Raptor was a flared-fender sight to behold, more accessible and generally easier to justify to a spouse…

[source: Wall Street Journal] EU Penalizes China Steel Bloc's Switch to Pre-Emptive Import Tariffs Signals Growing Protectionism By JOHN W. MILLER BRUSSELS -- European Union trade officials approved pre-emptive penalties on imports of steel pipe from China, a precedent-setting move that suggests the trading bloc is growing more protectionist in the face of the economic downturn. Tuesday's vote by trade officials from the EU's 27 member states is significant, say trade experts, because they accepted an argument from steel producers -- including the world's largest by volume, ArcelorMittal -- that punitive tariffs are needed …
