Didn't see one, so I'm starting one.. Saw one of the new '15 Ford F150s on the road or the first time today...silver crew cab, temporary plate...looks like someone really broke in their new truck--was splattered w/ mud and had lots of dents in the aluminum body panels.. also saw a derelict 70s Chevy LUV in a restaurant parking lot--had been red I think at one time, paint was faded to flat orangish..not one panel was straight, nose was crunched in, doors dented, bed sides mashed down..but still in use. Was a 2 round headlight version, I remember seeing them w/ 4 round lights..

Never done it, haven't looked at many. I have a area of interest that I would very much like to share with others. In fact I am, to a degree, driven to do so. I am still considering publication, but with friends having gone thru that (successfully), it's an arduous task. Websites get lost in the oceanic shuffle, relevant pre-existing sites either disappear or have a self-imposed system that precludes the type/source of my interest (Wikipedia). What's the scuttlebutt on the blog universe, and does anyone pay any attention??

My thread about letting your kid practice motor sports seems to be a success, and most people there say they would let or even encourage their kid/s to get involved into such an activity, so the next question is... how much does it cost to give a kid a shot at some of the cheaper options, like go - karting? How often do those things break down anyway?

Suppose your kids comes up to you today and tells you he/she wants to start driving go-karts with an aim of maybe becoming a pro in some form of motor sports in the future. Would you be happy to let him/her have a go at it? Would you be worried about his/her safety? Would you try to steer your kid towards other activities instead?

Came across this story about Ferrari beating Bugatti and it is very cool to watch. Interesting is that in the quarter mile you do see that the Ferrari is a couple car lengths ahead but as they hit the finish line and keep going the bugatti closes the gap. Makes one wonder who would really win in a mile long race. https://fr.news.yahoo.com/laferrari-demolishes-bugatti-veyron-drag-race-video-135004475.html

What looks to us to be a thrown together combination of spare parts from the garage can be yours for the low price of $1,234 Canadian. That's right... 1,2,3,4. The owner believes it to be equipped with a rear-engine 450 (cc? ci? horsepower?) twin-cylinder. Those of us into cars are a special breed. Many of us keep our cars as if they are another member of the family. So when we see friends or relatives mistreat their vehicles, it raises hairs on the back of our neck. What annoys you the most about these people? Is it: How messy they keep their car? I have a relative that just picked up a clean used Ford Explorer 6 months ago. I saw it when he first got it and while it is a 2006, it was clean and in decent shape. I saw it again over the holiday weekend and it was loaded with junk, brake dust all over the wheels and in need of a bath. Their disregard for for regular maintenance? Back in high school I h…

* During the last Chicago Cubs game ever broadcast on WGN radio, 09/28/2014, Pat Hughes (voice since 1996) reminisced & mentioned that, when saying goodbye, we tend to say we’ll see each other later or will keep in touch, but that rarely actually happens. I somewhat succeeded, by road tripping 2002-2011, meeting many of you along the way. I also tried to get people in this area together but stopped asking; ironically, I still want to ask if anyone wants to meet up…. I look through my pics of road trips, people, places, cars … & wonder where some, including those I thought would always be in my life, are today. Next week, I say goodbye to friends of 13+ year…

Saw a black Roller Phantom in traffic along w/ a mint condition light gray/beige '40 Ford Deluxe Tudor sedan. Was moving slowly in traffic, keeping long distances from cars in front, no doubt because of old timey brake stopping distances.

"I'm going through change-ehh-es... I'm going through change-ehh-eess" Sing, Ozzy, sing. Anyhow... nothing like a little Black Sabbath to announce changes. As you may remember, I moved to Michigan in the spring for various photography endeavors. It was a fairly substantial change of pace for me and a real opportunity do something with one of my hobbies. It was something I had only dreamed of tackling up to that point. To say the least, I certainly won't regret what transpired this summer, especially the bittersweet ending. However, the experience was mired by a sour agreement before I was even able to begin. Going back, I arrived with an overwhelming nervous…

* We tell others to "never say never", but then use the phrase "never forget" for 09/11/2001! Perhaps "always remember" is a bit more appropriate for Patriot Day & other things? I’ve said it’s more about people than anything, but starting to wonder.... Until a few weeks ago, it had been ~1 year & 3 months since I posted. I’ve been without a job for over 2.5 years & without income for a year (unemployment ended September 2013). I was denied disability; I am now on Medicaid, but cannot see my doctors. I’ve sold cars, with 2 more for sale now; all of my FWD-condoning MCs are gone. Otherwise, things are great; ha! Nephew will be 6 years old &…

Here we go, descending into darkness for a long winter's nap, but before we turn on our headlights, let's get out there and see what we can see, there's a lot of cruising time left. Post your interesting, unusual, or really cool vehicular spots right here.

A friend of mine sent me a link to the world's hardest car quiz, and I must say it was very hard but a lot of fun also. I got a 72%. It was made in the UK so a few of these questions are more about European cars, or cars sold in Europe at least. http://www.carwow.co.uk/world-hardest-car-quiz

So my Escalade rear tail gate would not open. Suspect the electronic switch failed. I wish they still had key access as I had to climb over to unload my stuff I had loaded into the Escalade yesterday when I got home. Took it in and they gave me a new 2014 CTS4 2.0T to drive. Initial reactions: Car is great in Touring mode, more responsive in Sport mode but also more noticeable turbo lag. Love the center stack with touch screen very intuitive and easy to use. Lower portion that opens and shows the hidden storage / charging bay was noisy. Surprised for a new auto with only 2500 miles on it. Rest of the leather, fit and finish was really nice. Enjoyed the Pad…

My wife's 'ex'-car is an '03 Pontiac GP SE. 3.1L. We bought it in '05 with 29K for $13K. When she upgraded to a new '09 Malibu 2LT, we debated selling the GP, but held onto it as an errand/spare car. My older son got his license in early '11. This year he's been working 5 days/wk & driving the GP. He also has an active social schedule. I believe it has right about 139K on it. It has really been an excellent car as far as reliability goes. Batteries, tires, brakes, and I did the A/C condenser & compressor last spring. Other than the radio LED window being blank, it's been trouble free and money well spent, IMO. Last night my son accidentally ran into t…

Jordan Haskins is not going quietly into the night. After some soul-searching, the Saginaw native busted multiple times for breaking into government vehicles and masturbating inside them is re-entering the race to fill a state House seat. Haskins, a 24-year-old Republican, entered the race to become a Michigan state representative to fill a state seat, but his arrest record for numerous "cranking" incidents came to the surface immediately after he put his name in the hat. Let's revisit what cranking is: "Jordan would remove the spark plug wires and sit in the car and masturbate while the motor was sparking and making noises," the police report states. …

Now that gas prices are down, the number one, two, and three wealth creates, F150, Ram, and Silverado are propping up the American auto industry and by extension propping up Opel in Europe which is a 20 billion dollar black hole. What honestly happens when the price of gas goes back up to $148 a barrel?

ford is selling a boat load of ST models, and I the Abarth is selling well. IIRC Opel has stuff that could be brought over. Would love to see a small Buick actually has a MINI fighter. I love the Encore, but a hot hatch in premium guise would be great!

Why does GM not build RHD cars in the US for export? In South Africa you can buy an RHD BMW made in Spartainburg, South Carolina, An Accord built in Ohio to RHD specs, and soon Ford will be selling RHD Mustangs down there. Wouldn't GM get some great market penetration in foreign markets were they to ship RHD cars overseas? IIRC, the only RHD car GM ships overseas in the Ampera. How many RHD Amperes are sold? Seems to me that GM is being a little short sighted.

I'm back to looking at trucks for myself and the used vehicle pricing is insane. 2011 F-150 Ecoboost Supercab, leather, no nav, no-sunroof, 4x4... 63k miles ... $35,000 2013 Tacoma Double Cab, 2wd, V6, cloth seats, no sun-roof, rollin on 16s... 35k miles, $32,599 2010 Canyon Crew Cab, 64k miles, cloth seats, no sun-roof, $23,077 And these are their "no haggle" prices.... I'll have whatever they're smoking....

Interesting but in looking through the MSN auto section, they had this video by Inside Cars where they show some cool things like Tesla battery swap process, but better yet, is that Consumer Reports who has been Anti-American on Auto's supposedly just gave Ram Trucks the coveted Recommended Buy over Ford or Toyota Trucks. They also Recommend Chevy Impala as the best buy in America. http://video.msn.com?vid=59096624-a012-4c38-3f3e-8fa37f94c12f&mkt=en-us&src=CPSmall:shareBar:permalink:search_usage&from=cp^en-us So what do you think?

Downing of Flight MH17, Who is REALLY to BLAME? Editorial G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy www.CheersandGears.com The downing of Malaysia flight MH17, delays in access to the crash site, and shipment home of the deceased has many thinking about what could have been done to avoid it this tragedy. Another question to ask is what are the rebels trying to hide? The delay in allowing inspectors to the crash site along with the delay in collecting the bodies all while the rebels based on various news sources with cell phone pictures and cell phone videos showing rebels removing evidence makes this an even bigger question. Years now the world has kno…
