Zotye has confirmed earlier speculation that the first vehicle they will offer in the U.S. will be the T600. A refreshed version of the T600 was shown at the Shanghai Auto Show last month. The T600 would come with a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and 6-speed automatic, but other details are not being released until U.S. certification is complete. In China, the T600 starts around $14,000. In January, Zotye announced that it has signed up 19 dealers with 80 more in process. They hope to have 300 dealers in the top 100 markets in the US in time for the expected launch of the T600 in late 2020. Following the T600 would be a full-size crossover and a midsize …

Chinese automaker Zotye (pronounced Zoh'-Tay) has announced it has signed agreements for 19 stores with various dealership groups nationwide. This move brings the company closer to being the first manufacturer to sell Chinese made vehicles under a Chinese brand name. Eventually, Zotye plans to enter 80 US markets with 300 to 325 dealers. The company is hoping to reach that goal by the end of 2020. The next round of dealership expansion is expected in March 2019. My main worry would be their safety. Then there's the issue of reliability. Do any Chinese companies really have the know-how to produce safe reliable cars? I've see they also like to produce a lot of clones... a bunch of cars that are very clearly a copy of some European or American car.

Interesting...well, Genericans are already used to Chinese products from their Wal-Marting. Americans: more likely to buy Chinese cars than Korean? Also saw this Tweet from Auto Pacific below: " A staggering 40% of Gen Y are open to an auto from China, compared to 16% overall. Grew up global; to them it simply isn’t far-fetched." According to this new article(dated yesterday), Chery, the Chinese Automaker, seems to have shifted their goal from exporting their cars to the US to Southeast Asia instead. I guess they didn't want to improve their cars to meet US regulations and target the less important market first. The Landwind SUV. This is the first vehicle from a Chinese plant to be sold in Europe. It is based on the old Isuzu Rodeo. 200 of them arrived in Belgium last month. Available with diesel and gas engines. It's priced about $20,220 after taxes. They sold quickly. I guess with that kind of pricing. This is just the beginning. I think China is going to be a huge player. There are more than 100 different carmakers now manufacturing in China.
