If there are any Nielsen families or anyone who knows Nielsen families on this site...urge them to watch Reunion on FOX 9pm Thursday (following The O.C.) because this show needs a ratings uptick if it is to avoid cancellation (cancellation has been announced, but might be rescinded if ratings kick up). If anyone has been watching it, you know it's actually a pretty good show that is a casualty of a competitive timeslot and piss-poor marketing/scheduling on FOX's part (pre-empted by Pres. Bush for its third episode, delayed for a month by baseball...no wonder it didn't catch on). So yea...I love this show and don't want it off the air before the murder my…

In checking another forum, a poster is bemoaning the fact that many new GM products are being, and will continue to be, engineered in places other than America for the U.S. market. Which brings back to memory a recent Lutz statement, who, in so many words said that we wouldn't even recognize GM in 10 years - that, in time, they will once again become the powerhouse that they once were. This begs the question: With GM promoting products that start off as designs for other markets, in other words, as GM cars become fully globalized, thereby ignoring the specific needs of the U.S. consumer, and the U.S. worker, is GM's resurrection worth the price of it's resurrection?…

All I get is the little Quicktime symbol...the little film real clip with a 'Q' in the center. I'm certain this is a simple adjustment needed to my computer settings, but I have no idea. I checked my internet settings and don't see anything listed for Quicktime, but all but 1 item was checked off under multimedia. The wierd thing is I have been able to watch other Quicktime movies on this computer. Why does it seem to hang up on the GMC and Buick?

Roughly 3,000 pigs have been infected on hundreds of family farms and about 300 have died. Early reports from Chinese scientists attribute the outbreak to porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome (PRRS), which first appeared 18 years ago and was originally called Mystery Swine Disease. But certain symptoms of the current outbreak, including massive hemorrhaging, are not consistent with PRRS, and might indicate that the disease—most likely caused by a virus—has mutated. The outbreak has renewed fears that a…

I'm not sure if my absense was noticed, but I returned home from Europe last night. I'll have a complete review of my trip (including the cars) in the coming day or so. Right now, I'm off to catch up on sleep, so here's a quick glimpse of my week. In the meantime, I've been working on an article (not Europe-related) for you guys, so stay tuned. It'll be posted soon. It's great to be back! (...that's me with the thumbs up )

A few of my summer job alternatives have recently fallen through, so I'm back to exploring my options. Coincidentally, I'm looking to pursue a job similar to what Northie posted earlier this week. I'm extremely interested in detailing or "prepping" new or pre-owned cars at a local dealership (or another dealership-related job, for that matter), I'm just not entirely sure how I should pursue this. I haven't found anything in the paper advertising such a position, and I'm not sure if dealerships would be interested in hiring a 17-year-old. I'd like to contact a few local dealerships, but I'm not sure exactly what I should say. What positions would a dealership li…

Although the snow let up in intensity and ended altogether hours ago, school has still been cancelled for tommorow! :sign0200: Just over 24" of snow fell on the area late last night and earlier today. Westchester schools announced county-wide closings for Monday by late afternoon, but New York City Schools remained open until the past hour when the decision to cancel classes was made (I attend school in the Bronx). Roads are still a mess and trains will be on a limited schedule tommorow due to the storm. Since most students at my school commute from Westchester by train, I'm pretty sure that's what warranted the closing. I'm especially happy because I've put off…

It was a post about how the Gov't in the '70's allowed Big 3 dealership owners to sell Totota out of their dealerships, the same dealership network that cost GM, Ford, Chrystler billions to setup. All it cost Toyota was some paperwork and a couple signs. It had something to do with that, please help!

I found some great video on one of our major highways and some of the back roads we go on to avoid traffic. Skip 1/2 way through for the better part of this road. Though we use the dirt roads for rallying, we mostly just use them to get where we need to go (mostly wineries). Faiview (the dirt road) is just a few blocks from my place. We live on one of those fancy paved streets in the big city (just over 3000 people).

Such a sad sight... and thanks to the poor quality of the pic, I can't exactly tell what happened? I see what looks like a dirt ditch and some bushes...? IDK, but it's very, very, very sad.

I had posted earlier this month about the possibility of buying a honda, specifically a 76 CB750. well, last week i found what i had my heart set on to begin with that fit the budget. a guy 45 mins up the road was selling his 2006 triumph bonneville. its got some blemishes, but he has done modifications to it that i was going to do if i bought a new one later on this year. Its been about 8 years since i had ridden a motorcycle, and this is my first street bike, but the short ride up the street and back felt amazing.

  97. Reuters March 17, 2008 - 6:25 am ET NEW DELHI (Reuters) -- General Motors wants to launch a second small car in India in the next two years as it looks to capitalize on growth in emerging markets to offset any sluggishness in U.S. sales, a senior company official said. The model will not compete directly with Tata Motors' low-cost Nano but will be cheaper than GM's current lowest priced car in India, David Reilly, GM group vice-president, told a news conference on Monday. Small cars less make up nearly three-quarters of India's market. GM offers the Chevrolet Spark in the sector for about 300,000 rupees ($7,350). "We need some thing lower than what we have got…
