I think Volkswagen needs an explanation with the usage of 'concept' with their showing of the Golf SportWagen concept at this week's New York Auto Show. The concept gives us an idea of what Volkswagen has in store for us when it arrives early next year. So why is Volkswgen calling this a concept? Most likely it comes down to the powertrain; a 2.0L TDI four-cylinder paired with a six-speed manual and VW's 4Motion all-wheel system. In a couple of weeks, the New York Auto Show will be underway with automakers showing their various wares. Toyota will be using the show to reveal the 2019 RAV4. The first vehicle that kicked off the renaissance of Jaguar, the XF, is getting a redesign that will debut next month at the 2015 New York Auto Show. Three years on from its original launch, Acura has given the TLX a substantial refresh and revealed it on the eve of the New York Auto Show. Last year, Volkswagen showed off a prototype of the Golf Alltrack wagon at the New York Auto Show. The German automaker announced that it would be selling this model sometime next year. We have to admit Jaguar pulled off quite the stunt with the 2016 XF. Driving across London's Canary Wharf on two 784-foot long wires is no small feat, but it highlights some of the big changes made to second-generation model which Jaguar has divulged today. The Toyota Prius remains the poster child for the hybrid vehicle. But when it comes to the plug-in hybrid, there really isn't a vehicle that stands for it. Sure you could make the case for the Chevrolet Volt or the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq, but Toyota wants the Prius to be that vehicle. We all knew that Mazda was going to do a hardtop version of the MX-5 Miata. We weren't expecting this. This is 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF - Retractable Fastback - which made its debut tonight before the New York Auto Show opens to the press. Mazda didn't replace the canvas roof with a metal one. To say Chevrolet's previous attempts at doing a hybrid model of the Malibu have been lackluster, is an understatement. The past two attempts really didn't see a big increase in fuel economy and were not big sellers. Another hybrid model is joining the Toyota family. The automaker announced today that it would be revealing a hybrid version of the RAV4 at the 2015 New York Auto Show next week. No other information was provided except that it would be shown on April 2nd. Our best guess to what the RAV4 Hybrid will be is something akin to the Camry Hybrid with the 2.5L Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, providing a total output of 200 horsepower. The upcoming New York Auto Show looks to be all about the crossovers. We've already been teased with the 2019 Toyota RAV4, now Subaru is teasing the 2019 Forester. We can't tell much aside from the taillights looking similar to the larger Ascent crossover. It would come as no surprise if the Forester takes many of the design elements of the Ascent. I just realized, the only GM press conference for NYIAS was this morning. That means we've seen all we're going to get. No Cobalt MCE, HHR SS or 9-3 MCE. I would guess you can expect a seperate debut event, maybe at the Milford Proving Grounds, for some of those 3 this summer. So the 6 production vehicles were: : LaCrosse Super, Lacrosse MCE, Lucerne Super, H2 MCE, H3 Alpha and STS MCE.

Well today, some pictures leaked out of what is purported to be the 2014 Range Rover Sport. The new Sport looks to be a mishmash of Evoque up front and Range Rover in the back. Compared to spy shots and the teaser shot, the model shown in the picture matches up pretty close. We'll find out if this is the real deal or not later this month. Scion used the LA Auto Show as litmus test to show off a possible new model, the iM concept. This concept was a Toyota Auris sold in Europe, but was all done up with large fenders and wheels. It seems the model has passed this test as the production model iM has been introduced the night before the start of New York Auto Show. The smallest crossover in Hyundai's lineup - the Tucson - has finally gotten some much needed updates. Shown today in New York, the Tucson gets an all new sculpted body that helps it bring it into line with other Hyundai models. The front features a large, hexagonal grille and LED headlights. Alongside the Golf SportWagen Concept, Volkswagen will also being showing off the 2015 Jetta which appears to have been ordered with a side of light refresh. The 2015 Jetta changes start with the exterior. Volkswagen swapped the front clip for a new one that has grille similar to the CC and a set of optional Xenon headlights with LEDs. Waymo is expanding its partnership with automakers. After making an early debut in Nissan's super bowl commercial back in February, the 2016 Maxima has been revealed to the world at the New York Auto Show this morning. The Maxima is almost an identical clone to the Sports Sedan concept shown in Detroit last year. The plug-in hybrid concept uses a 131 HP electric motor for the front axle and a mid-mounted 1.5L turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 223 HP for the rear. A pack of lithium-ion batteries are located in a center tunnel between the two power sources. Total power stood at 354 HP and 405 lb-ft of torque.
