There are some big changes possibly afoot with BMW's coupe lineup. Auto Express reports that BMW will be changing the focus of the next-generation 6-Series from grand tourer to a Porsche 911 fighter. This means the 6-Series will become slightly smaller than the current model. Auto Express speculates the new 6-Series will utilize the joint BMW-Toyota platform that will underpin the next-gen Z4 and long-rumored Toyota Supra. That forth vehicle is a smaller version of the X6 called the X4. Auto Express has done a couple renderings of what the X4 could look like when it goes into production in 2014. There have been some rumors floating around for the past couple of years that BMW was planning to offer a 3-Series with a fully electric powertrain. Some new spy shots reveal that may come to fruition. At first glance, this looks like a normal 3-Series sedan. But on the front doors, there is a label that reads "Electric Test Vehicle". Spied: BMW Z4 Targa A photographer managed to snap a single photo of a prototype BMW Z4 Coupe with disguise on its roof. According to spy master Hans G. While Mercedes-Benz and Audi have offered performance versions of the flagship sedans, BMW has been the outlier. The closest the German automaker has gotten is the B7 done by BMW specialist Alpina. But BMW M's engineering boss Albert Biermann has dreams of an M7. “I would love to compete in this area of the market. The money is just there to pick up.
