Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

Even though the Cadillac Escalade is quite fresh, Cadillac has a number of changes in store for it in the coming year to keep it the thick of the luxury SUV battleground. The big change is the introduction of the Platinum trim for the Escalade. The Platinum trim adds a bit more shine on the exterior with additional chrome trim, twenty-two inch wheels, Cadillac's new crest, and Platinum badges. Inside, the Escalade Platinum gets Nappa semi-aniline leather in a choice of either beige or gray; suede microfiber headliner, heated and cooled seats for the front, eighteen-way power seats, and three screens for rear seat passengers (two seven-inch screens in the headrests, and a…

DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- Cadillac has narrowed the list of agencies in the hunt for its national creative account, and McCann Erickson has not made the cut. General Motors Co.'s luxury brand said the contenders are: Publicis Groupe-backed Bartle Bogle Hegarty, New York, and Publicis, New York; two Interpublic Group of Cos. agencies, Gotham, New York, and Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; Omnicom Group's DDB, Chicago; and independent McKinney. The automaker said it will hold meetings with the agencies in Detroit before Thanksgiving, and finalists will pitch in January. Executives familiar with the pitch said GM, in searching for an agency for its Cadillac brand, concentrated…

2006 Cadillac XLR-V Pushing the lmits? by Paul A. Eisenstein (2006-03-20) If there's been any bright spot for troubled General Motors in recent years, it's the nascent revival of the automaker's once-formidable Cadillac Division. There was a time, not that many decades ago, when Caddy called the shots in the luxury market, but in recent years, the "Standard to the World" has had to take a back seat to more posh import contenders, like Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Yet with the introduction of its edgy "Art & Science" styling theme, Cadillac showed that it might be down, but it certainly wasn't out. Though it's by no means a world-beater, the first production mod…

I just saw a Cadillac commercial for the employee discount, I think the first I've ever seen. Anyway, at the end they advertise a base SRX V6 for $32,000. That's as much as a CTS with the same engine, and far less than the X5 and RX330, which indicates how the market is recieving its premium price. The SRX really needs a significant interior overhaul.

No Discount for You: Cadillac Holds Price on '07 Escalades Date posted: 03-21-2006 DETROIT — Customers hoping for a price break on the redesigned 2007 Cadillac Escalade editions may be disappointed to learn that General Motors will hold the line on prices as the vehicle debuts over the next several months. GM said the long-wheelbase '07 Escalade ESV will go on sale in May, with its suggested retail price unchanged from 2006 at $59,680, including destination, for the AWD model. The standard Escalade AWD went on sale last month and is priced at $57,280. The two-wheel-drive version of the standard Escalade won't reach dealers until August; its sticker price will remain a…

In reading the August C&D, there was a short take article on the new 08 STS with the newly offered Sport Pkg for V-6 models. C&D said great things about the car and never complained about the cheapness of the cabin. They just said that the controls for the radio/HVAC were difficult to decipher. They loved the way the sport pack cars handle and said that this option is a necessity if you buy an STS. They also, of course, said to stick with the V-6 instead of the V-8 and save $9500. On a personal note, the wheels on the Sport Pkg cars are beautiful. They are a nice 18" 7 spoke design, high polished or chrome. They are much better than the base or optiona…

China has given Cadillac a bit of breathing room when it comes to sales and working on filling out their lineup. Automotive News reports overall sales of Cadillac vehicles in the U.S. dropped 3 percent, while sales in China rose 46 percent. "We are moving Cadillac from having this very strong U.S.-centric focus to having a global focus. The time will come when we will sell more Cadillacs in China than here," said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen in an interview. With sales going up in China, this gives the brand some flexibility from transitioning a sedan-heavy lineup to adding more crossovers beginning in mid-2018 for the U.S. Currently, the XT5 serves as …

During their conversation, Ferguson said there is the possibility of offering a larger and more luxurious electric vehicle. “We’re bullish on this technology," said Ferguson. He went onto say "This will lead to a progression of (battery-based) cars for Cadillac." General Motors is hoping that Cadillac's first electric vehicle, the ELR, becomes a success, especially in the Northeast and West Coast. This would make the case for this new model a bit easier. The report says this new model would likely use …

New Cadillac Escalade shines By Anita Lienert WASHINGTON, D.C. -- One of the most critical moments in the redesign of the Cadillac Escalade happened three years ago when the General Motors premium brand rented a Hollywood film studio for an evening, set up a full bar and invited A-list celebrities, athletes and rappers to preview an early version of the 2007 model. Oscar winner Adrien Brody -- who will soon take delivery of a 2007 Escalade EXT -- and the rest of the glittering crowd said they loved the new Escalade's added chrome and the exterior details borrowed from the legendary Cadillac Sixteen show car. But they also had a warning: The 20-inch wheels, the bigges…

I did see the 07 in shell form quite some time ago which led me down the path of skepticism. My point... I saw an 07 Escalade in pearl white yesterday and I have to say I am impressed! It is an imposing vehicle in person. It is by far the best looking of the bunch, as I have seen the Tahoe and the Yukon already. Then I saw another one on my way home and the person driving it was 'giving er all shes got!' it sounded mean! It had to of had the 6.2 in it. Which I will tout personally as a very …

The hot thing for luxury automakers aside from crossovers is building electric vehicles to take on the elephant in the room, the Tesla Model. But Cadillac will not be joining this craze, at least not in the near future. Speaking with Automotive News, Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen said the automaker will equip most of their lineup with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The decision comes down to tightening regulations, especially in China. "For us, the avenue to ensure that we are able to play in China is going to be through plug-in hybrids," said de Nysschen. There's also the benefit that plug-in hybrids are a bit more practical than EVs and the fear of runn…

Cadillac was nice enough to invite me to an SRX test drive. Also available were the SRX's prime competitors: Lexus RX350, BMW X5 and Mercedes GLK. Without getting into all the numbers, I'll just share my driving impressions of all four. First off, the SRX is a really nice crossover. Looks good, and it's interior is certainly right up there with the others - actually maybe even the best. I had afew preconcieved notions going in. I was expecting the the SRX's 3.0L to be woefully underpowered. It wasn't as bad as I had expected, but it was a bit underpowered - actually more like under-torqued. Forbes Car review Cadillac SRX Vs. Volkswagen Touareg 10-04-2005 By Dan Lienert The Cadillac SRX sport utility vehicle exemplifies many issues facing Detroit. It is a typical Detroit car in that it is an SUV with declining sales, but it is also a rare American auto: a luxury car that can outsell European competition--excellent competition, at that--by some margin. In the first eight months of 2005, Volkswagen's Touareg SUV matched only 71% of the SRX's American sales. Considering that the SRX might be the best Cadillac, and that the Touareg might be the best Volkswagen, the Caddy's superior sales performance is evidence against the myth that Detroit ca…

Pics won't display for me. Check 'em at the link below: http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_shows/20...8_cadillac_cts/ Looks good so far! I just wish GM didn't always feel the need to show everything in chrome wheels.

I was in Las Vegas from Friday PM through Sunday evening. I had a chance to look at a lot of Cadillacs on the road (love the name of that dealer in Vegas -- Cashman Cadillac), mostly CTSs and some STSs. In general, I think the slab sides are great ,as are the angular lenses and grilles up front. I think, though, that the rear decks and the taillights that have to make the stretch from the bumper up to reach the deck lid are too tall. The whole composition at the rear of the car is too chunky. To go along with this tallness, I think that, from a test sit, the center stack is also too tall and the general feeling behind the wheel of a CTS and STS is a bit claustropho…

Urban Cowboys Two Luxury Pickups Face Off By Michael Jordan, Executive Editor | Link to Original Article @ Edmunds | Date posted: 07-17-2007 Loving trucks is as American as the Marlboro Man. But just as that rough and rugged pitchman has ridden off into the sunset (probably coughing), rough and rugged trucks are a thing of the past. Even the lowliest Chevy Silverado is now packed with the kind of features and luxury once reserved for high-end sedans. The 2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT and 2007 Lincoln Mark LT are the pinnacle of this new breed of softer and gentler American pickup trucks. Part pickup, part recreational vehicle and part hot-rod sedan, these trucks put blin…

Given that Cadillac plans to offer the new CTS-V in overseas markets for the first time, they felt they had to up their game in order to compete with the likes of the M5 and the AMG E63. The new engine offers so much more torque at all speeds than the V10 in the M5 that driveability should be much better regardless of whether the manual or automatic transmission is installed. For those who prefer to handle the gear selection process on their own, the same Tremec 6060 used in the ZR1 is paired up with a dual plate clutch. The dual plate clutch provides the necessary torque capacity with a lower pedal effort. Drivers who spend more of their time stuck in traffic jams or …

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com February 6, 2013 Stop me if you heard this before. An automaker introduces a new and shiny infotainment system that uses a large screen, capacitive touchscreen and buttons, fancy graphics, and number of other features. Reviewers and people who buy said vehicles with the new infotainment system complain the system is too slow and laggy, thus prompting the automaker to issue an update. Ford is one of those automakers that has and is still going through this process and will soon be joined by Cadillac with their CUE system. According to Wired Autopia, Cadillac will launch an update to CUE that will improve the haptic fee…

But they also had a warning: The 20-inch wheels, the biggest…

After speaking this morning with Cadillac's product communications manager, David Caldwell, we've fleshed out some near-term product plans for General Motors' luxury brand – in particular the timetable for the 2010 CTS Sport Wagon. The automaker's Lansing Grand River plant is scheduled to begin building the stylish rear-drive load lugger in early May, and the first examples should be at dealerships around Memorial Day (May 25), or perhaps early June. Cadillac's first-ever U.S-market station wagon (no, the SRX crossover doesn't count) is expected to offer a reasonable 25 cubic feet of space beneath its rakish rear glass, and while it rides on the same 113.4-inch wheelbas…

Wow, on my trip to the auto show sunday january 15th, I saw The 2007 Cadillac Escalade driving on the highway oppsite side of us heading in the other direction!!! It was a dark blue color, and had smaller rims than the huge 22's but they were still chrome. I was obviously very excited, but was expecting to see a at least a few tahoes driving around, but never a new escalade! But things only got better! As my friend and I went outside the show to take a break and head over to Subway to get lunch, I was crossing the road and I saw A pewter 2007 Yukon! It was very Niiice, and the Head and Taillights look alot larger than in pics, but i was confused because there was a b…

2006 Cadillac STS-V Driven to thrill. by Paul A. Eisenstein (2006-04-10) Few stories we've ever run on TheCarConnection.com have ever generated as much reader feedback as our original scoop on the formation of Cadillac's performance-based V-Series. The general response, other than a few cranky skeptics, was "about time." The first offering in the line-up was the CTS-V, appropriate enough considering the base sedan ushered in Caddy's edgy Art & Science styling theme, setting in motion one of the most significant, design-driven turnarounds in domestic automotive history. Now, the luxury maker is readying two more V-Series offerings, the XLR-V, which we reviewed …
