We're going to install a new K&N Filter, CAI, 4" exahust tip, and bright red spark plug wires. Not really. We're just going to upgrade to the latest version of IP.Board. We should see some improvements in speed and reliability, as some of the scripts were rewritten for IPB 2.3.x. A new front page is in the works, but we're putting that off in lieu of the DB crash.

Just thought you guys deserved an update, so I'm posting one here. We are finalizing our selection for our new host, and hope to be done with that by tonight or tomorrow. We plan on moving the site to a dedicated server rather than a shared server. For all of those that would like to help with the move, you can donate to [email protected] on PayPal. We are not sure of the costs to move, but if we have extra money, that will go to hosting the site in the future, as well. Perhaps we could buy some spy shots as well, depending on how much the new host costs and how much money we receive. Right now, we do not have enough to make a move, but the Admins/Mods are willin…

For whatever reason it appears members can't post in the SEMA section? If no one can post, I'll move all the topics to the auto show section rather than the SEMA section. I look at all the settings in the Admin panel but everything appears to be fine to me, so I don't know what the problem would be. Let me know if you can't post there so I can move the topics ASAP.

Just a couple suggestions. One would be to place the PM box in the upper right corner like it used to be. Everytime I get a PM, I get forced to go to the User CP page to read the full PM where before I could click the PM and it would just link me straight to the new message I received (inside the User CP). Also, I noticed on cobaltss.net that they have a very useful drop-down menu in the top left corner of all the forum pages where you can skip right to the forum you want to go to. It's really nice to use sometimes instead of going to the forum home page, then searching for the right forum. Damn it, I'm getting lazy.

C&G's 25th birthday is coming up in August of this year and I wanted to give you some updates. I haven't been posting as much lately, but that doesn't mean I'm not here. I am working on a massive overhaul of the site ahead of our 25th birthday. Background: The Invision Community software we are on is V4. Support for V4 is tapering off rapidly as V5 was released over a year ago. V5 is a major change to how the software operates and as a result many of the plug-in authors who wrote software that I purchased for us have abandoned their projects. This has put me in the position of holding off on V5 until I can get certain things built or replaced. In the…

Very strange, but in the last few days, I've noticed I can't post or reply to posts from my phone. I'm logged into the site on Safari, but when I submit a post or reply post nothing is posted. No error I'm seeing on the screen either. Just doesn't post. Works fine on Safari on my Mac.

I can't see a single one of the images on the front page of C&G. It really bummed me out this morning when I couldn't see the picture for the "What new GM car is this?" thread. Also, like some other folks, I'm having to log in whenever I come back, even if I set it to "Remember me". I'm using Firefox.

I'll PM details to one of the admins on request, but other than that, I was wondering if there was a general issue with changing email addresses. Thanks.

Changes To C&G

As the auto show season quickly approaches us we here at C&G have realized we need a different way to update the site. With myself and Chris Pauwels (aka Crispey2k) being invited to an invite only event here in Metro Detroit for the NAIAS we have some pretty significant things in store for members and visitors alike of C&G. So, in light of the situation we have before us, Frank Donato aka z28luvr has done a fantastic job of keeping C&G's previous look and "morphing" it of sorts to a new front page that is far and away easier to update literally from any computer. In doing that, updates to the front page will be more frequent as myself, Z, F…

Well, we're back and kickin' butt, so we decided to make a few revisions while we could. Allow me the break the changes down for you. The Other Guys has now been broken down into four distinct sections by geography or company - Ford, DCX, Europe, and Asia. We decided the placement of each individual make should be based on what's commonly accepted as 'country of origin' (Japan for Nissan though its French-owned) and ease of grouping (a new platform shared by multiple Ford divisions placed in Ford rather than Ford, European, and Asian). C&G takes pride in our easy navigability and we hope this will be easy and hassle-free for everyone. 2006 …

There is a major update to CheersandGears.com coming. I invite you to go play in the sandbox at the development site. While the look of the new software appears to be a minor upgrade of what we use today, it has actually been completely re-written under the hood. Currently, only the software default look and feel is available, but we will eventually be adding our own look and feel. Before going into production on the main site, we will be testing out new looks at the R&D site. You should consider any posts/uploads/blogs/articles on the R&D site to be temporary. They could disappear during a future site refresh. I need your help testing. Please repo…

Cheers and Gears gets social Now you can share you favorite posts on C&G with people in your social network. Doing this helps increase Cheers and Gears's visibility in the search engines and helps generate traffic to the website. Also, on many high interest articles, I will place a "Vote this up on Reddit" and "Digg This!" link that you can click and increase votes for our website on Reddit and Digg. It's kind of like giving rep points to C&G. So share C&G with your friends. It's a great, free, way to help Cheers and Gears grow bigger and better.

I don't want this to get lost in the Google Ads thread. Please read, comment, and suggest alterations. I'm pretty much set on this direction generally, but refinements are welcome. ------- Here is my vision for Cheers and Gears. I don't care if we have 500 members of 500,000.... that's not how I'm measuring our success. Eventually, and with the appropriate software development changes, I want C&G to be an automotive Wikipedia with the best forums (not necessarily biggest) around. I want C&G to be the reference site for car people to learn about the "stovebolt chevy" then kick around and argue about it. I want C&G to offer the automotive news, but…

Folks, I'm looking at running a cleanup on the forums. The plan is to delete any thread that has one post and zero replies and isn't a pinned thread. This will happen in most forums except the sales ticker threads or any other forum that jumps out at me as needing to be archived. This will reduce many/most people's post counts. I know some of you are more concerned than others with this. Objections? Comments? Concerns?

Im not sure what "vestage" means  However Im up on unnecessary and meanings. I made a brief statement about a deleted post of mine on a topic here. It was necessary for me to make note that the post was deleted and that I disagreed. The was no reason for me or anyone else to say any more. It was just me saying "I know what you did and I saw you do it  " I realized it was done to try to keep things undercontrol. But I didnt care :) Necessary at the time, pointless now meant something at the time, no longer has any relevence :CG_all:

As some of you have noticed, I did a software update last week to the latest version of the software. In addition to more ways to upvote and downvote, the Clubs feature is now open. If you've ever wanted to run your own car club forum, now is your chance. People who open clubs become the moderator of their own club automatically. For the moment, I have no established rules for clubs except: No Adult Content. When in doubt, keep it out. No Clubs about current or former members. I will not allow cyberbullying on here. This does not mean I will not institute additional rules for clubs in the future. I created a sample club that I will update a…

Coming: Honda Accord hybrid, Plug-in Toyota Prius, more 09:30 AM CAPTIONBy Mike Ditz, AP Honda will take another shot at making a hybrid out of the Accord, and will add a hybrid version of the Pilot family crossover as well. That's just one interesting tidbit from the product plans of Japan's Big 3, as laid out today by Automotive News. It goes like this: Honda. A redesigned Civic and CR-V crossover is on the way next year. A new Accord comes in summer of 2012. Honda had an Accord hybrid for a few years, but discontinued it because buyers didn't think a V-6 hybrid delivered enough gas mileage. Nissan. Car News briefs: Cross Lander Ute expected this year AutoWeek | Published 01/17/06, 4:33 pm et Free pass for Cross Lander Importers of the inexpensive Romanian built Cross Lander 244X sport/ute won a three-year exemption from federal airbag requirements. Cross Lander won the exemption through May 2008 because the vehicle as initially configured weighed more than 5500 pounds, which would have excluded it from the requirement. However, an engine supply problem forced a powertrain switch that reduced the weight below the 5500-pound threshold. As a result, the company requested and won the airbag waiver and plans to move ahead with sales of the vehicle in the United Stat…

Since the site re-launched under Josh there has been no curse filter on the site. That is ok sometimes but come on guys if we want to attract new members we are going to have to act like adults. Case in point: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...st=0&p=156631 to quote: That is not office talk. It is certainly not profesional and would likely make people think less of you in the real world. Most of the forums I frequent, CZ28 and even GMI, keep this to a minimum. Daimler to expand Renault-Nissan pact to EVs, exec says September 14, 2010 10:16 CET UPDATED: Sept. 14 15:30 CET STUTTGART (Reuters) -- German luxury carmaker Daimler AG is expanding its cooperation with Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co. to develop electric cars in a race to meet tightening emission reduction rules. Daimler's research chief, Thomas Weber, told Reuters in an interview its cooperation with Renault and Nissan "will be expanded to include all three partners as far as electric motors, batteries and powertrains are concerned". The move comes as carmakers and car parts suppliers rush to gain a foothold in the market for zero-emission vehicles as deadlines for…

Daimler, BMW Surge on ‘Bottomless’ Appetite for German Luxury July 16, 2010, 6:05 PM EDT July 17 (Bloomberg) -- Daimler AG’s E-Class Mercedes-Benz, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG’s new 5-Series and Volkswagen AG’s revamped Audi A8 are attracting wealthy buyers in the U.S. and China, prompting the German carmakers to boost deliveries. Daimler raised a full-year forecast yesterday after second- quarter profit beat analysts’ estimates. BMW this week lifted its 2010 sales and earnings projections. Audi’s first-half increase in vehicle sales beat both BMW and Daimler’s. “The Chinese appetite for German nameplates is absolutely bottomless,” said Sascha Gommel, a Frankfurt-base…

I may be out of line here, seeing as I mostly read instead of post anything; however, one thing I am always in search of is reports and database information that lists various important details. The search function seems to freeze up on me on a regular basis, and wading through Google has become a royal PITA. Might it be possible to have a section dedicated to the charts and information related to quality control databases and manufacturer recall tallies? I don't mean to suggest that it be put together as a kind of score-board, as I just know people are likely to reference the content with just that in mind; rather, I figured it would simply make things a tad easier w…

Dispute With Distributor Continues to Keep Mahindra Out of U.S. By Byron Pope WardsAuto.com, Nov 24, 2010 9:00 AM The feud between distributor Global Vehicles U.S.A. Inc. and auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. is growing more contentious by the day, and no solution appears in sight. The argument, which continues to keep Mahindra vehicles out of the U.S. market, stems from a series of long delays in delivering a small diesel pickup produced in India. Alphareta, GA-based Global Vehicles, earlier inked a deal to be the sole distributor of the 2- and 4-door trucks, but Mumbai-based Mahindra continues to refuse to ship the vehicles, contending its contract with …

Hey Josh...um...about your DNS server updates you've been mentioning... Theoretically even as CheersAndGears.com becomes active again and that site still works, this will remain an active backdoor since it is a direct link to the server. It's simply knowing the name of the actual server under DNS, might be the best way to put it. So, it won't just "stop working" unless your host is a little odder than the ones I've worked with... You may just have to poke and prod people to move them over. The real problem comes in 6 months when they decide this server is overwhelmed and decide to move you to another and those who didn't update their book…

Dollar's rise helps Germans Appreciation indirectly boosts value of their booming luxury car sales in China Christine Tierney / The Detroit News With the dollar up nearly 10 percent against the euro, Germany's luxury carmakers should be toasting a big jump in profits on their American car sales. But their Chinese business has proved to be even more lucrative. That's because Germany's carmakers traditionally hedge their currency exposure in North America and Japan to buffer the impact of currency swings. Similar to insurance, hedging protects exporters when currencies move in an unfavorable direction, but it also limits potential gains. As a result, Daimler AG, the …

Introduction By Mike Hudson Email Date posted: 12-19-2005 Every office has one. You know, the employee who has seemingly done no wrong since coming onboard. Every decision he makes turns into profits and every review comes with a healthy raise or promotion attached. At first, the Golden Boy is loved by all. But after a few years, the mountains of praise start to annoy coworkers. Soon resentment sets in. His nicer attributes fade into the past while his flaws start to irritate you. So when a worthy challenger emerges from the ranks, it's no surprise people are pulling for the new guy. And so it is with our latest matchup between front-wheel-drive fou…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...photopanel..1.* The problem with most Japanese cars here is that they're dull, soulless, and generic. But after seeing tons of truly weird and different cars in Asia this past winter, I actually wish they would import some of this lost-in-translation, automotive-anime, Japanese subculture madness here. Modern cars in the US are all pretty much the same, dictated by certain car norms, shapes, and functions... to begin with, why do all cars have to be symmetrical? Why must luxury car interiors be covered in leather and wood? Anyway, I really like the Cube, especially in that color, even though…

Anyone want to explain why that after I post something I get a blank screen (it looks like that after I make a post, the site tries to redirect me to the main forum index, rather than the thread I posted in) or why that after I edit something the whole post goes blank? The posts still go through, but it's starting to get annoying.

EU’s Struggling Economies Yet to See Recovery in Car Sales, Prices By Keith Nuthall WardsAuto.com, Aug 16, 2010 9:00 AM Passenger-car prices in Eastern Europe have tumbled along with vehicle sales as a result of the global recession significantly faster than in Western Europe, impeding attempts to create a unified automotive market that spans the continent. A key benefit of the European Union for the auto industry was supposed to be the tariff-free sale of vehicles between its 27-member states. By removing the bureaucratic barriers preventing such purchases, the EU has tried to create one unified auto market for its combined population of 500 million people. But sur…

Euro market corners top vehicles Some of Detroit's most exciting models aren't offered to U.S. buyers Paris -- The first lesson I learned at the Paris Motor Show was that everything tastes better with a little more butter. Second, European carmakers have been holding out on us Americans, keeping some of their best vehicles on their side of the pond -- and giving us a bunch of leftovers. Even our own carmakers have been sending some of their coolest cars and crossovers abroad, allowing Europeans to fly down the autobahn in fantastic five-doors but never giving us the same Interstate opportunity. Oh, and I'm not including all of the diesel powertrains available in Euro…

Europe baulks at GM-style shakeout that could transform prospects Europe's automotive manufacturers lack the will to rid themselves of unprofitable operations that threaten their future, and experts predict a future of muddling through rather than decisive action to restore health and profits. At a conference in Bilbao, Spain, last month, Ford Europe Chairman and CEO John Fleming said overcapacity had reached 35 percent and was getting worse. In a sane world, this would mean that the least productive producers in Europe would be under pressure to close. After all, the existence of a chronically inefficient manufacturer simply makes it uneconomic for everybody. As the w…

Europe could be largest global market for electric cars Luca Ciferri Automotive News Europe -- October 28, 2010 09:25 CET TURIN – Europe could become the largest global market for battery-powered electric vehicles by far, predict analysts J. D. Power and Associates. But EV volumes will still be lower than some automakers' expectations. By 2020, EV sales in Europe could reach 742,020 units, or 3.1 percent of 23.8 million sales predicted for that year, according to a report by California-based J. D. Power. China would be the second EV largest market with unit sales of 332,775 and a 1.9 percent market share. The United States would be third in term of unit sales, 107,…

Europe Still Working to Reach Agreement on EV Recharging-Plug Standards By William Diem WardsAuto.com, Oct 26, 2010 9:00 AM PARIS – Dozens of cities around Europe are preparing to install recharging points for electric vehicles in public areas, but the French-German working group that will recommend what type of plug to use has until March 31 to report. Until a standard is agreed upon, recharging for early EV arrivals on the market will be done from normal 220-volt household sockets. “The industry can begin with domestic charging for urban and suburban driving,” says Igor Czerny, director-transportation for EVs at the French electric-company EDF. The “second stage” i…

Europe's carmakers face an anxious second half August 3, 2010 - 12:01 am ET European automakers have been buoyed by better-than-expected first-half results as the region's car sales largely held steady despite the phasing out of government incentives, but the good news won't last much longer. Volume manufacturers selling cars in Europe believe the second half of the year will be difficult due to the ending of incentives and the introduction of tough austerity measures in European countries hit by fiscal crises. What's worrying companies is that they are not sure how bad it will be. Credit Suisse's David Arnold said: "The question is how does the second half play out.…

Europe's carmakers grapple with low productivity Ola Kinnander and Tim Higgins / Bloomberg News General Motors Co.'s 1,300 workers in Antwerp, Belgium, are fighting for their jobs, hoping for a white knight to rescue the factory from closure. "We're trying to find an investor by the end of this month," said Luc van Grinsven, a union official at the 86-year-old plant, which makes an Astra model for GM's Opel unit. "If we don't, the factory will close at the end of the year." Antwerp is an anomaly. Not a single European automobile plant closed during the recession, while 18 assembly factories have been shuttered in the U.S. since 2008. European governments prevented the…

Europe's carmakers say economy is far from stable Automotive News Europe -- February 24, 2010 08:54 CET FRANKFURT (Reuters) – The European auto industry does not expect a quick recovery this year, said Dieter Zetsche, president of the Brussels-based industry body ACEA. Zetsche, who is also CEO of Daimler AG, warned that sales of commercial vehicles that closely follow the economic cycle would "at best be flat" after dropping by one-third in 2009. "If the economy looks better in 2010, it's only when compared with 2009. And that's why it is so critically important not to endanger whatever little stabilization has been achieved," he said in prepared remarks at the 2010 …

Europe's premium flagship sedans return to health, flaunting new technology Europe's premium top-of-the-range car manufacturers are defying logic as they pick themselves up and dust themselves down after the great slump of 2009. You would think that the days of these massive, gas guzzling, hugely expensive behemoths - like the Mercedes S class, BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and Jaguar XJ - would be numbered. After all, the days of conspicuous consumption are surely over for a while at least. And new regulations in the European Union and United States will soon start forcing car manufacturers to drastically cut fuel consumption. When these carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rules we…

European car market drops for third straight month July 15, 2010 08:16 CET FRANKFURT (Reuters) -- The European car market fell in June for the third straight month as the artificial boost from scrapping schemes across the continent continued to abate, hurting sales for Fiat S.p.A., Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. Registrations of new vehicles in the European Union dropped 6.9 percent to 1.34 million units last month driven mainly by sharp declines in Germany and Italy, according to data published on Thursday by the European industry association ACEA. Hardest hit among major brands was the Fiat marque, heavily dependent on both its domestic Italian market as well…

European jurists announce seven finalists for 2011 Car of the Year by Noah Joseph (RSS feed) on Nov 9th 2010 at 8:58AM While it may seem like every magazine worth its bar-code is clamoring to select its own Car of the Year, over in Europe things are a bit more civilized. Seven publications from seven different countries get together each year to nominate their collective Car of the Year, speaking in one united voice. The process takes place over the course of months. First comes the nominees, then the finalists and ultimately the solitary winner. The super best-friends have just arrived at that middle step, announcing the finalists for 2011, and as in years past, it'…

European troubles could rattle Fiat Chrysler expects to see April sales jump BY GREG GARDNER FREE PRESS BUSINESS WRITER Chrysler expects to report its first substantial monthly sales increase in the U.S. in more than two years Monday, but CEO Sergio Marchionne is shifting attention to Fiat, where problems are deepening. The European half of this new alliance is facing change nearly as wrenching as Chrysler's government-backed bankruptcy. Car sales in Italy are expected to fall about 15% this year because the government stopped paying consumers to replace dilapidated old vehicles. Fiat is separating its car business from Iveco trucks and CNH farming and construction e…

Europeans win big from China's appetite for high-end cars September 14, 2010 - 11:45 pm ET China's rich are more likely to splurge on premium and superluxury cars than anyone else in the world. That finding comes from a recent report by Bernstein Research. London-based Bernstein analyst Max Warburton identified a premium car buyer as someone from a household with more than $100,000 (78,500 euros) of annual disposable income. In China, 231 out of every 1,000 car buyers who met that criterion in 2009 bought premium cars. Germany was No. 2 at 176 out of every 1,000 followed by the UK at 165. Spain ranked fourth (81) followed by Canada (59) and the United States (52) last…

Yet another old vid I found on that famous Youtube. The British did a head-on collision test using the remote controlled BMW and the Volvo while they are speeding. I sure hope these kind of accidents don't happen, it's well.... SCARY!!!!. I know, this is old, so you may have seen it already, but I just posted it here anyway since I don't see anyone else posted it before. If anyone did before, let me know, then I will delete this thread.

Are you being FaceBlocked? Facebook may be keeping you from seeing posts from the pages and brands you want to see. Make sure you click "Get Notifications" and "Add to Interest List" for each page you'd like to see posts from. Liking and Sharing our posts helps as well. You can reach Cheers and Gears Facebook page here. We're getting pounded on there... in spite of having 2,200+ Facebook followers, only 6 - 12 of those followers actually see each one of our posts. Sharing posts, liking posts, and commenting on posts increases our interaction score and lets more people see our material. I've noticed a few of your sharing and liking posts from competing outfits …

I think it'd be great if Cheers & Gears featured an vehicle timeline... Core features: Divided by GM division (Chevy, Saab, Buick, etc...) Show month each vehicle is set to go on sale (start of timeline bar) Show end of production - actual or estimated future end (end of timeline bar) Additional feature ideas: include other manufacturers include concept vehicles include trim levels or major options (engines, etc) build backward through time to create a more complete timeline, including out of business manufacturers if it needs to be kept simpler, have the timeline only look at the future, and only go so far into the future (5-10 yrs). Bars for production en…

In case you didn't notice, I've decided to move to a blog-like methodology in posting news and articles on C&G instead of my old method of simply cutting and pasting the entire article. It takes a little longer to post news this way since I'm typing the titles and content myself but I feel it's a good way to add some originality in posting news here. I just wanted to gauge the opinions of the rest of the forum on this as I feel I will stick with this method from now on. So, thoughts?

[source: Motor Authority] Ferrari patent for turbocharged V8 surfaces online Earlier this week we saw leaked Ferrari patents for a new AWD hybrid system that were filed with the European Patent Office. Today, a new patent diagram for a turbocharged powerplant from the Italian carmaker has surfaced online, confirming that Ferrari is at least considering adopting more efficient technologies for its future models. The image above shows the patent in all its glory, and according to Autocar other documents revealed a layout diagram for a turbocharged internal-combustion engine in a "V arrangement". While this could possibly be referring…

Fiat brand led the decline with a 36.4 drop in volume last month followed by Ford, whose sales were down by 29.3 percent, according to figures released on Tuesday by ACEA, the European automakers association. Renault brand sales fell 21.5 percent, PSA's volume was down 19.1 percent, while Opel/Vauxhall sales declined 18.7 percent and Volkswagen brand sales…

Fiat, Ford lead sales decline in Europe as Audi gains Automotive News Europe -- September 16, 2010 10:40 CET (Bloomberg) -- Fiat S.p.A., Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. led a fifth-consecutive monthly drop in European car sales as the end of government incentives hit demand. Volkswagen AG's Audi luxury unit gained market share. Registrations fell 12 percent to 731,503 vehicles in August from a year earlier, Brussels-based industry group ACEA said Thursday. Eight-month deliveries decreased 3 percent to 9.3 million. Fiat declined 24 percent, while Ford slipped 20 percent and Toyota slumped 19 percent. European demand is declining as governments end or trim subsidi…

Fiat, Toyota, Ford lead European car-sales drop Opel/Vauxhall was the only major European volume maker to post a sales gain in November, thanks to cars such as the new Meriva, shown. Automotive News Europe -- December 15, 2010 08:16 CET PARIS (Bloomberg) -- Fiat S.p.A., Toyota Motor Corp. and Ford Motor Co. led an eighth-consecutive monthly decline in European car deliveries as fallout from last year's government incentives hampered a recovery in the region's largest markets. Registrations fell 6.5 percent to 1.11 million cars in November from 1.18 million a year earlier, Brussels-based industry association ACEA said today in a statement. Eleven-month sales dropped 5.…

Fiat's Marchionne could talk auto spin-off in April March 3, 2010 14:46 CET GENEVA (Reuters) – Italian industrial group Fiat S.p.A. could discuss spinning off its auto activities when it presents a five-year strategic plan next month, CEO Sergio Marchionne said on Wednesday. Such a move could unlock value for the company and cheer the market. There has been regular speculation on the possibility of Fiat listing its auto activities separately. These include its Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia brands as well as U.S. carmaker Chrysler, in which Fiat has a 20 percent stake. "Let's talk about it on April 21," Marchionne told reporters on the sidelines of the Geneva auto show w…

Finalists For 2011 European COTY Awards Announced By Viknesh Vijayenthiran Editor November 2nd, 2010 2011 Volvo S60Enlarge PhotoThe finalists for the 2011 European Car of the Year awards have been announced and surprisingly there is not a single luxury car among them, except perhaps the 2011 Volvo S60, which sits near the bottom of the luxury car spectrum. This means that original candidates like the new Jaguar XJ, Mercedes-Benz CLS and BMW 5-Series were all overlooked. Not surprisingly, most of the finalists are economical compacts, reflecting the changing trend of what’s most important when judging new cars. Even the all-electric Nissan Leaf has made this year’s fi…

Automotive News / November 13, 2006 How would you like to make $127,000 pure profit on every Camry, RAV4 or other Toyota you sold over your original forecast? Toyota raised its global sales forecast by 20,000 vehicles from its May prediction, to 8.47 million for the full fiscal year. It also jacked up its forecast for operating profits: to ¥2.20 trillion, or $18.66 billion, from $16.12 billion. Do the math. Nice margins if you can get them, eh? Higher volume isn't the whole story. It's barely a footnote. The weak yen is the real driver behind the higher profits forecast. Toyota now says each dollar it gets on U.S. sales will bring it ¥115 in revenues, not the ¥110 i…

I have two suggestions for forum additions that I think will better organize C&G. First, the some of the brands in the GM Family have current and future model/plan subsections. I think we need to add a subsection for past models for each brand since there's really not an "appropriate" place to put threads about them. Currently, they're being posted in the current model sections. I think it will better organize things. Second, I've noticed there's been an increase in the amount of video links being posted. I think there should be a separate forum section to post these to reduce the amount of clutter in other sections of the forum. Any thoughts?
