I have recently found the following three 2008 First Edition releases from Hot Wheels: 1970 Pontiac GTO Convertible (maroon): 2008 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Concept (orange): 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (metallic blue): The Camaro Convertible I picked up at K-mart earlier this past week, and the GTO and Corvette I found at Wal-Mart yesterday. BTW, where has Olds Guy been? He usually makes these kinds of posts.

I was randomly at Walmart and I saw this. I really didn't want to buy anything... but... I couldn't pass it up. Yep, a Camaro, by Jada. I must say, being able to feel all the lines and view it from infinite perspectives, I have so much more respect for the design.

I've tried looking online for any new GM-related diecasts from Johnny Lightning, Matchbox, and Hot Wheels (to name a few) with no luck. So I'm calling on our expert in this area, OldsGuy (and anyone else "in the know"), if you've heard about, read, or saw something online indicating what GM-related diecast collectibles will be issued in 2010 to please post here. TIA!

Today, I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up: 1976 Cutlass Salon (gold with white vinyl top) 1970 Chevelle SS (sea green with black racing stripes) I also saw a 1993 Mustang Cobra that I really wanted, but the die was really crappily done. The wheel wells were too big and the detail was lacking. My current die-cast garage:

Woo hoo!! I scored an original, built, complete, restorable AMT '59 Buick on ebay tonite... I have the AMT/SMP '59 Chevy Impala ht & conv '59 Pontiac Bonneville ht & conv kits and the Johan '59 Olds 4dr ht, but no Buicks.

Here's a couple new ones. The yellow/black coupe Impala and a Regal that is pretty close to the one I had back 20 years ago.

These should be hitting shelves soon. Found this one today. Also in this release is a magenta Chevelle.

I have some neat stuff, and I'm not sure if I really want to do this but I am considering it.

Maisto has released this Solstice in a 5 pack. They also released the SS Concept and the Cheyenne from a few years ago. No pics of those two yet.

Are there any plastic model builders here ? I was just reading on a model car group that I belong to that there will be no more AMT plastic models. I guess because of poor sales but this is a real shame and disapointment to the model car community. Hopefuly another company buys the molds and continues to produce them.

I grew up with a Carvel Ice Cream store in my town that we went to a lot.... don't see many around though their ice cream cakes are sold in many grocery stores (Acme, Wegman's, Shop-Rite). Was surprised to see a HW's series in Carvel's name at Wal-Mart last night.

Some newly released cars... in the case of the 442, it was out, but recently released from its packaging!

This issue has an interesting 'factory freaks' article, cars with rare paint combinations, special order options, unusual powertrain combinations. Dark blue w/ red interior '74 Trans Am, '70 Le Mans 4dr w/ 350 and 4 spd manual on the floor, '71 Le Mans Sport 4dr ht w/ GTO appearance package (GTO hood, Endura nose), 455.. Hi all, As far as I can tell, there are 2 companies making 1/18th-scale Solstii: Yat Ming and Road Signature. Does anyone happen to have one o feach and can compare them for me? I've seen the Road Signature one in a store, and it looks nice enough, thru the box, anyway. I'd like a blue one, FWIW. Just wondering if one is better than the other for any reason- accuracy, detail, quality, etc. TIA!

Was at a Border recently and picked up a coffee table book with 100 years of GM cars. It's a great read with lots of great pictures of GM cars throughout the century and good historical information on the company. It was $20 at Borders. if you find it, grab it. It's a good read.

Had to make a run to Blockbuster tonight for my step-son (needed to exchange his GamePass game), and there's a Toys R Us right next door in the shopping center. I promised the little guy a new Hot Wheels track add-on (launcher), and upon entering the diecast aisle I see new Hot Wheels cars on the pegs. I look through and find the following: 1970 Chevelle SS Wagon (2009 New Models, #19/42); 1968 Oldsmobile 442 (Muscle Mania, #06/10); Custom V-8 Vega (2009 New Models, #23/42) (see attached pictures for each) I bought the Chevelle SS Wagon & Olds 442 and passed on the Vega, as I'm not a big fan of them.

So, I picked up a couple of these today. Nice casting. Note some of the features below. Not bad at all for a 1:64 (Hot Wheels) size car. Opening hood. Chevrolet badge and nameplate in grille detailed (down to red "SS" letters. Chrome rings aournd taillights. Badging again very detailed in black trim piece. Chevrolet script and Impala SS lettering. Interior has crank handle for quarter glass molded in. Notice fender extension lines are molded into body as well.

Not really a current GM merchandise, as I picked this up a couple years ago as a goof. So, as I mentioned in another thread, I have a remote control 1973 Pontiac Bonneville coupe (for some reason I was thinking it was a Catalina before). I picked this up at either Target or Walmart because I would have considered the 1973 Bonneville to be about the LAST GM car ANYONE would make a toy out of. I found out today that AMT announced at the annual Toy Fair show that they will be doing a 1:25th scale plastic model of the Camaro concept, due out in September.. that's the fastest I think I remember ever hearing about a kit announcement relative to the public debut of a production car or concept car...

Picked up this little baby at TARGET this past Saturday while doing some last minute "Easter" gift shopping.
