Went to an autox test & tune day yesterday. I made 2 runs, Em (my wife) made 2 runs, and I made one more run. LOVE the new tires! (Khumo Ecsta XS) Of course, when comparing to the all-seasons I was on last year, it doesn't take much to be impressed. Anyway, on this run, the new tires let me keep my speed up very well. So well, that I ran right past redline in 2nd gear. An odd sound was followed by some power loss, and I thought I could hear the engine "chugging" as I finished the run. Parked it & let it cool down quite a bit, started it up & couldn't hear anything odd. Made one more run, and it definitely had power loss, and I could hear the chugging by the e…

Would it be to much to ask that when a thread is closed/locked by an Admin, that the reason is given for such action along with who locked it. The following thread was locked with no reason given as to why it was locked. It clearly was marked Political. I understand that sometimes anonymity is a good thing sometimes, but not when a thread is closed/locked. The following thread was locked and as far as I can tell no reason was given. Thank you. I hope all Obama supporter's don't think this way..., [political]

So on Sunday I was on my way to the store when a bunch of ricers (like 5 or 6) were heading the opposite way toward downtown Lawrence. I thought it was odd but thought nothing of it. Later that day I was driving through the downtown area when I see in one of the huge mill parking lots that there was a car show. I have never seen Lawrence host one, and of course, this one and only car show is almost if not entirely ricers. 5-foot wings and cheesy paint jobs as far as the eye could see. It was disgusting...makes me hate this city even more. However it was all worth it because of what I saw a few hours later. We had a severe thunderstorm that caused flash flooding. Seve…

It's rolling around to my original hire date (July 3rd), and I still have 2 weeks vacation time coming that I have to use before then, or I lose it, per written company policy. So I took next week and the last week of the month, which means I'll be off one week, work two, then off another in June. I earned this time, and I think I need it, although there are no big plans. Yesterday, my boss pulls me aside and says if I "want" to, he can make arrangements with the BIG boss that I can take one week off, then for the second week, I can take the vacation pay but come to work, or I can push the second week off past my hire date, which means I will have 4 weeks vacation comi…

For the first time since I've had all 4 older Monte Carlos (1972, 1976, 1979 and 1981), I drove EACH of them at least 1,000 miles in 2009. I came close to that milestone in 2008, but fell just shy. LOS ANGELES - Gerald R. Ford, who picked up the pieces of Richard Nixon’s scandal-shattered White House as the 38th and only unelected president in America’s history, has died, his wife, Betty, said Tuesday. He was 93. “My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Gerald Ford, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather has passed away at 93 years of age,” Mrs. Ford said in a brief statement issued from her husband’s office in Rancho Mirage. “His life was filled with love of God, his family and his country.” The statement did not say where Ford died or list a cause of death. Ford had battled pneumonia in January 2006 and underwent two heart t…

So, as most of you know, I have a best friend named Ray. Here's what I knew about him for the last 18-20 months until yesterday: 19 years old, black child living in a less black-than-white metro-Detroit community, grew up in Laguna Beach until he was 8, his dad died when Ray was 8, mom died when he was 12, and he's lived in MI since being 8 with his grandfather because of financial reasons. Well, yesterday at my graduation party, I asked Darren something (Ray's brother; I don't remember what I had asked) and he was confused. Now, this was something he would've known, but didn't. So I asked on: Your mom is alive? "Yes," was his answer.. with a questioned look on his face…

Friend of mine wants a Camaro. He has very good credit. The Chevy dealer said he only got approved for $15,000. He went to a Honda dealer to check out what they had and found out he could get approved for $30,000. What gives? He wants a Camaro but if he can't get the financing he's going elsewhere, probably for a Honda.

I do not know if anybody has used this before, but Synergy, is a software using which you can hook-up up to eight computers to one keyboard and mouse (of the mother computer). No more having virtual desktop, or other LAN based shebang. So as long all your computers are seeing one network, Synergy works fine. I am using it and I love it. What is cool is that the software lets you copy and paste from one computer to other. If you do not have capability of setting up a network, there is a free online VPN known as Hamachi; it is secured compared to other VPN's and the best part is that you can access any of your computers from anywhere in the world so as long you hav…

Last night me and my two buddies went to a frat and then we headed over to a house party that was rather far away (about 20 mins walking from where I live). Anyways, when we got to the house this guy that we didn't know before gave us some cups and told us to say that we paid for them. So, my buddies got a cup of beer and then it ran out after I only got about a third of a cup, so we just kinda stood around and watched beer pong. Anyways, the guy that lives there got back about 10 mins later and asked me and one of my friends if we paid for the cups. We told him we did, and then he wanted us to show him who we paid. So we walked around the house and couldn't find the gu…

They want to unpair a cell phone because apparently they have filled up the number of phones you can have paired. Is there a command they can speak to do this or something they can access via the radio's menu? They lost the owner's manual and online I seem to only find the newer ones with intellilink.

So finally my girlfriend was able to find the school bus that witnessed the accident a few weeks ago. She was able to get the info of it down (the plate, bus number and the company it belonged to). This was yesterday, so by the time I got home the Lawrence School District office was closed, and today I wasn't able to call. I plan to tomorrow, but I'm not sure how to ask or if they are the right people to call. The bus is from North Reading Transportation, which several towns away from us, but makes stops in this area, which leads me to assume that it has a Lawrence bus route for one of the Lawrence Schools...but it didn't say which. When I called North Reading Transportat…

Selective perception: I thought another post said "Parents are stupid sometimes" and then it turned out to be "Pants are stupid sometimes." So, I'll run a poll. I know this might sound petty, but is it possible to move all of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox posts to their rightful place - with the CHEVROLET TRUCKS? GM & Chevy do consider this to be a truck model and when you look on the online ordering guide, the Equinox is listed under the Chevy Trucks link with all of the other pickups, SUVs, and CUVs. Thanks in advance for your consideration!!

One option I am pondering for when my 500 lease is up this fall is to find a dirt cheap used ford freestar to drive for 2 years or so. generally, i like my vehicles to have a full center console with armrest. I do not like the narrow fold down armrests off the seats that vans typically have. the interior of many ford products has the same kind of look and plastics. i was debating if a guy could do a hack job on say, a center console from a junked 500 or say migrate the rear console of a freestyle or expedition or something into working between the front seats of the freestar? obviously developing a solid mounting system and trying to determine the proper height …

Hey all. As some of you know I had an 06 malibu SS that I was planning on trading in on a G8 GT when they came to market. Well due to the fact that I was a complete dumb ass those plans had to be flushed down the drain as I got a DUI last december. long story short with that is that I was at an office party and had been drinking pretty steadily for a few hours. Normally If I have more than two beers I don't even consider driving as I've seen first hand how a DUI/DWI can affect a persons life. Unfortunatley I was a bit under the weather and I was also homesick as I hadn;t visited my family in a few months. I was supposed to go up there that night and I felt a very …

There is one vehicle missing and that is a '87 K-Car that I bought in 2000 for $300 from a customer (it only had 50,000 miles on it and it was absolutely pristine), spent $500 getting it 'safetied,' but it was rear-ended 3 months later by a chick in an Audi (the Audi had to be towed; I drove the K-car for another week before the adjuster came to 'write it off:' he gave me $2k for it!) Uh, the phone just rang. So, being a dummy, I picked it up. On the other end was a young lady fresh out of her "English as a Second Language" class. She wanted me to visit a resort in the Poconos Mountains. Just for taking the tour, I'd receive a free flat screen television. So, I asked her if the resort is "clothing optional". She didn't know what that meant, so I said "Do you have to wear clothes when you go there?" She answered "I am not selling anything. I do not know what the question is you are asking." I love telemarketers soooo much. :AH-HA_wink:

I went with mom tonight to drop off her 2005 Cobalt with 20,500 miles, sign papers, and pick up her new leftover 2009 Nissan Cube 1.8 SL, Moss Green with black interior. She leased it for 39 months at $115/month, a heck of a deal. She's been wanting one since they came out, and she was able to get it. It rides pretty nice, quiet, with a lot of features and nice, wide, flat seats. CVT is warranteed for 10 years/120k miles on Nissans, I didn't know dat.

So if you're in CA, a fan of this ride, and want one last chance to ride it, do so before it closes for good on September 3. And just fyi... the ride that will be built on the BTTF's site in both parks will be a Simpson's ride. I sad and happy at the same time.

This is a thread for gun enthusiasts, no matter how many or how little firearms you have, here's the place to talk about them. JUST TO BE CLEAR, this thread should contain NO political views or standpoints. It is only here to discuss the guns themselves. This thread over at MT was one of the very few that was able to remain civil throughout its rather lengthy existence. I have no doubt a more civilized group can do the same or better.

Along with the "What Would You Buy Instead?" threads, I thought I'd bring this one back, too. Today we're focusing on two of the greatest cars to ever wear the famed Prancing Horse badge, but from two very different times. The two cars themselves are also very different, but have some glaring similarities. Both cars use small displacement turbocharged V8's mounted midship, both deliver(ed) stunning performance in their day, but they hail from different eras, and are obvious products of such. So, would you rather have..... Ferrari F40 or 488 GTB Remember, you cannot pick a different …

The Devil Attempts to Mow-Down His Landlord With a Ford Windstar Friday 15th October, 2010 by "black-knight" They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Yeah. In this case, it makes what I'm about to write damn near worthless. Basically the story goes like this: The man you see in the photo above, who may or may not actually be the Devil himself sans the red-scaly skin and bifurcated tail, is Jesse Thornhill (quite ironically, he even has the word "horn" in his last name) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He had some sort of spat with his landlord which resulted in him storming off of the property which he was renting ... only to return shortly in his '96 Ford Windstar. He …

Ebay seems to be expensive to sell stuff, so I was wondering if there are any others that might be around. The only thing i am worried about is if these other auction sites get as much traffic as ebay.

Usually I don't like big obnoxious rims on classsic Muscle I think 17" is as big as I would ever go. If you put 20" rims on a '69 Camaro I think chances are you have a 0.7" long $hlong. That being said I LOVE this customized Camaro. The sleek polished aluminum rims, low profile tires, killer stance, Baldwin Motion paint scheme and Super Scoop hood make it just right.

-Suppose someone is serving a life sentence, which is being imprisoned for the rest of your natural life and something happens to them in which a doctor's declares them legally dead. Afterwards, they detect signs of life from you and successfully revive you. Would that technically count as serving your sentence since your life had ended? -Speaking of life sentences, you know how judges often sentence people who have committed more than one murder to an amount of life sentences commensurate to how many people they've killed (i.e., kill three people = three life sentences in prison)? Also, if not that, they'll be sentenced to an unrealistic amount of yea…

While I haven't been much of a fan of Motor Trend lately, I picked up the Sept/Oct issue of Motor Trend Classic for an article on the Corvair, and an interesting piece on the '59 Chevy's fins. This morning I'm going through, page by page, checking out the mag, and I find an editorial by Angus Mackenzie, entitled "History Lesson", and I swear, this man somehow got inside my mind and published what I (and others) have been thinking and posting here for years. Here are some excerpts: "...Henry Ford: 'History is more or less bunk. It's tradition. We don't want tradition...' The irony is Ford Motor Company might be in a whole lot less trouble right now if the folks who r…

Would there still be any interest in certain circles of enthusiasts for original parts catalogs on microfiche, or has the internet's easy access of information pretty much killed said interest? I remember a time not so long ago when people would search high and low for the little envelopes full of slides, but is that still true today? The reason I ask is I have some that I'm looking to get rid of, but am wondering what would be a reasonable price to ask for it all.

This is a thread for random Google searches. Why? because I'm bored and happy. A deadly combination. Why? It just is. But why am I bored and happy? Well, it isn't very active around here at the moment and I made a discovery... Could someone please tell me what comes up if you search for "brookville pa chevy"? Yes, that is the reason for starting this thread. So shoot me... No, really, shoot me, damnit!

Honestly, at almost 36 (12/23), there's not much I want that we can afford (for example, I'd love new tires and rims and the GM accessories chrome & painted door handles for my '06 Envoy, but can't afford them). But that doesn't mean others here don't have a Christmas wishlist that has realities and/or fantasies. Share them here, if you'd like. FANTASY: I'd love to find either of these trucks parked out in my driveway with a big red bow on it Christmas morning (Santa, are you listening?!?):

I'm planning on going there in the fall of 06', experiances anyone? I hear the work load is crazy, but the education is second to none with the entertainment industry in their backyard... levi strauss, Billabong, The Gap and many other brand's are located in and around the greater San Fransisco area... L.A., OC, and Sandiego have a ton of respectable names as well... has anyone in here visited the campus... ? Just curious, take care. Some random sketches.
