This is the 2nd of 3 July 4th themed UDG threads I had planned. Just wasn't able to get them all up before the 4th. Since we won our independence from the British, it seems fitting that we have a Dream Garage dedicated to our tyrant turned ally. In matching our American one, this one will allow 10 choices. Rules- 1) British makes ONLY. 2) Any era is allowed. 3) You are allowed ONE concept/one-off choice. 4) You are also allowed ONE racecar/non-street legal choice. 5) You MUST have at least ONE off-road/SUV choice. 6) Maximum of 10 vehicles. Rules for this one are simple....5 choices....but must be five different decades. Must be generally recognizable as a luxury car. A lotus Elise does not qualify. That's all she wrote for rules. A decade is 1960-1969, 1970-1979, etc... Interested to see what you all come up with.

Okay, got a new one of these that will hopefully see more players than the LeMans one. The concept is simple. You will choose NEW vehicles to serve as the basis for a very heavy build. We usually pick vehicles we think are pretty much spot-on in stock form, but this one gives you the opportunity to maybe pick something that you feel is missing from the OEM. Rules- 1) Vehicles must be brand new 2017 or 2018 MY, with all specs, photos, and details released. The nest dream car garage....I had too many rules last time so... I liked to play in the mud and outside as a young kid... 5 vehicles maximum, only rule is must like to play in the dirt or mud. must also be primarily land based vehicles that are wheeled or tracked or designed for land use...so no boats or planes. So, with this past weekend being the true greatest spectacle in motorsports- the 24hrs of LeMans- I thought it could make for a good UDG thread. Rules- 1) Maximum of 5 cars. 2) Cars can be from any era/year. 3) Cars MUST be OVERALL winners to be eligible. 4) Your selection MUST also be the ACTUAL RACE WINNING CAR. So I have gotten over negative feelings I have for both Chrysler and GM but for some reason seem to have a somewhat irrational case of real dislike for Ford motor company at the moment. I really like the current F150, the Lincoln crossover products, the Mustang, the ST twins, the Fusion Sport...and several other products. But for whatever reason I seem to have a real dislike for Ford that is not rational. Any advice you have for helping me think more rationally about them would be appreciated. Thanks!

After my two recent experiences with car buying, I got to thinking: both myself and my wife could have ended up with very different cars because it was a tough back-and-forth decision. Maybe it could be fun talking about what we're driving in an alternate universe where the final choice went the other way! What's your realistic alternate universe garage? I have a search set up on Autotrader to send me Avalanche listings. One of the most common eyeroll descriptions I see for Avalanches is "Fuel Sipper" or "best fuel economy" or some variant. While the Avlanche might be decent as far as trucks of that vintage go.... it's not like it's a Volt in the MPG department.... it's not even a Chevy SS in the MPG department.... and putting that in the ad isn't fooling anyone. What doozies do you see in car ads that are wildly inappropriate to the vehicle they are selling?

Ya know… I’m not a big fan of Chrysler. Or Dodge. Or Plymouth. Or whatever the “F” they’re called or who owns them these days. It seems they’re always owned by somebody new. So...my neighbour 3 houses down to the left of me honks his horn in front of my house yesterday. He sees that I dont react so he rings the doorbell. Like always, I saw these 2 awesome cars this past week just driving around doing errands with the family. Working on response to the dream car garage that frisky put up, putting up one of my own. In this challenge....it is the Climate controlled trailer, Climate controlled trailer edition-10 cars worth! First list, cars that you would likely find in the shady lanes mobile home park, which is a clean and decent but not fancy mobile home park outside of Kingsport Tennessee. Most of today's cars are very computerized, full of gadgets and like all things high tech they become obsolete in just few years (for example cars only 5-6 years old lack Bluetooth, have screens that look like cheap kids toys, etc). Today's cars have better screens, more high tech toys but in 5-6 years they will be obsolete as well. My coworker in the cubicle next to me bought a '17 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in gray...very sharp. We were out in the parking garage with a bunch of our coworkers checking it out and my Limited which were parked side by side...noting the various commonalities and differences. One error on the Trailhawk (in that medium gray) is that the left side window trim is all black while the right side trim is all black except for the back quarter window, which has bright window trim like my Limited. So in an attempt to spice things up a bit, I had an idea for a new 'Dream Garage'. It's somewhat similar to one I've done before in that there will be criteria to follow, but with freedom within those criteria. Costco has hired you to revamp their automobile program. Instead of offering discounts on other brands they've decided to market their own line under their Kirkland Signature brand. You have to create a model line up using other manufactures products rebranded. You'll need broad appeal. You'll also need to change the designs slightly so you can't exactly tell what it's badge engineered from. What are you going to offer? What cars, trucks and SUV's will you offer? I closed on my house in Ohio Jan 25th. Today I got the first shipping Pod of content from Phoenix. Watching one is these get unloaded was fun...pretty slick set up they have. Will unpack this week, fly back to AZ next weekend and start packing the second pod w/ furniture etc. Hope to drive back here w/ the dogs and be in Ohio for good in about a month.

Motors Of History, Including the 1916 Hybrid with Regenerative brakes! C&D did this history of motors that have made a mark, have to say awesome that in 1916 the first Hybrid powertrain was produced with regenerative brakes. Yep, getting close to that time... At the moment I am working on rebuilding/ updating my two chevys (Cavalier and Cobalt), as the goal here is to run them until it's time to send them to the yard..Both still run quite well, so until the rust gets real bad (figure the cavalier has maybe 1-2 years left)-drive them we shall..... What's your favorite model that was a one and done? The rules are: One generation only with no major refreshes. Minor refreshes are allowed. An example of the maximum minor refresh would be something like the Cadillac Catera which got updates front and rear fascias and lights, but otherwise remained unchanged in looks. The Catera was a one generation model. No cheating with sub-models that are based off of some mainstream model (Typhoon, Syclone, GNX are examples) unless that mainstream model was also a One and Done. Friday evening, I went to the show to check out some new metal and see people's impressions. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked- only about 1.5 hours. What's your favorite piece of crap car? I've always liked certain iterations of the GM W-Bodies. The Cutlass Supreme Coupe with the 3.4 DOHC V-6 (available with a 5-speed Getrag). The supercharged Grand Prix Coupes. The Lacrosse with the 5.3 liter V8. They were always labors of love, but they were great in their own way.

My oldest son has been discharged from the USMC and is now back home. He's looking for employment in the law enforcement field and will need basic transportation. What's your most feared driver stereotype? I don't mean just people who annoy you on the road, I mean people you avoid because you think they'll do damage to you or your vehicle. For me, it is women of a certain age in mini-vans. The typical subject is about 104 lbs, has the seat pushed as far forward as possible, wears giant Jackie O sunglasses, and is an assistant manager somewhere. She only has two modes of driving; slow and erratic in the left lane while arguing on the phone or Michael Schumacher with a bad case of diarrhea and searching an unfamiliar place for a toilet. I decided I'm going to start a video blog of what I'm doing with all of these apartments. Here's the first, rough video from today. This is one that has gotten the most changes. Four walls removed, converted to an open floor plan, getting an all new tile bath/shower and a new kitchen, refinishing the hardwood floors throughout. Plus this one has a two car garage attached.
