Paris Preview: Audi Q7 V12 TDI Friday, we brought you the initial report that Audi would be dropping a 6.0-liter V12 TDI based on it's Le Mans-winning engine into the Q7 SUV. Since the '07 releases have been already announced, it sounds like from the rumour mill that there are only going to be 3 new GM models for '08 from what I've seen so far--Malibu, CTS, and Enclave.. (maybe 4 if the Opel Astra coming for Saturn to replace the Ion is in MY '08, though it's not a new car--new to the US, but the current European model, I believe)? Besides refreshes/upgrades of existing models, anything else on the horizon for the '08 MY? (Maybe the Camaro? It will be interesting to see if it will be a MY '08 release...)

I went to the Denver show this evening... wandered around for a couple hours. Random impressions: Saw a Bugatti Veyron for the first time in person. Wild. Loved the burgundy Quattroporte w/ creamy leather. The Aston Vantage looks incredible in person. The Challenger concept looked great, though the A-pillars are awfully thick. The Imperial is huge and strange looking... Sitting in the Impala SS, I realized the 'Like A Rock' slogan describes the lower dash plastics perfectly.. Page 10 in Hemmings said there will be dueling concepts at the NAIAS, the Challenger and the Camaro. Even after all the internet hype and inside info I wasnt convinced, I would still feel better if GM had made an official announcement but I hear maybe after the New Year due to that Canada mess. I dont care about retro, I just want at least the GTOs performance IRS and some sick styling. I really liked the leaked pictures. So it looks like many of us will get our wish soon and maybe GM will get some much needed positive press.

It looks like Chrysler wants something even bigger than the huge test track that they had at last year’s show and GM has “agreed” to split up their brands at the now 1.2-million square-foot Chicago Auto Show next year. Cadillac, HUMMER and Saab will be moving into the North Hall, along with the luxury imports. One of the Mercedes CLS sedans up on a display turntable had a burned-out taillamp. I mentioned it very conspicuously to my father, who laughed out loud, which prompted one of the Mercedes reps to climb up and turn the lights off! I am. Should prove to be exciting, especially for all the RWD fans. I'm guessing there will be a few GREAT ones from GM (Blue Devil; speculation of a Camaro or GTO), Dodge will probably have the Challenger, DCX always has some surprises, maybe that Hyundai RWD car they were talking about, maybe the next Supra or equivilent.
