BMW Z4-don't like it as much as the Z3, but it is growing on me. Chrysler 300-picking my daughter up from her high school, I saw one black on blavk with 22" wheels and a tint, tastefully done...looked kind of badass...I could rock that in an alternative universe...and yeah it had a Hemi. Charger-I know a lot of people here don't like them, and the rear roof line makes the back seat hard to use...but done up in the Chryco heritage colors, with a Hemi and an after market exhaust....hmmm Genesis coupe-Selling well around here, as we said before should give the Japanese a run for the $ The new Sonata-Neighbore traded his Porsche Cayene (the Porsche SUV, or whatever it's …

So, what were the worst seats you have experienced in a car you've owned or driven regularly? For me it was the painful seats in an '85 Mercedes Benz 300TD wagon. It was like sitting on a concrete block.

Vehicles that aren't your "type" but you're interested in anyway. Hopefully an ongoing thread. Many of us have a type that we go for... whether that be in dating or in cars. Tell us your type and then tell us a car that defies that type that you're still interested in. For me: I like big luxury cruisers. Buick Lacrosse, Cadillac CTS and STS, Lincoln MKS. I really dislike cute utes, crossovers, and sport utility vehicles. My admiration for the Avalanche come more from it's utility than it's aesthetic though as far as trucks go, it's one of the best looking. but one SUV keeps catching my eye. The interior is really a put off, but I can't help but stop and stare a…

lol funny title. Anyway, the Camaro's gas gauge has its head up its ass. Went out of town, filled it up to a half-tank. It was about a 100 mile trip there and back. My car will go for 400 miles on a full-tank, which a full Camaro gas tank holds 15.5 gallons. That equals up to around 25 mpg in mixed conditions. That's about average gas mileage for a V6 Camaro with a 5-speed. So if this is true, my car could have made this trip on about 1/4 of a tank, right? I've done it before, so it did it again, right? No. Apparently, it took the whole damn half-tank to do it. It also somehow managed to go about 50 miles reading flat empty. So today, I put five bucks in it. It obvi…

Yep, I think it's gone. Outside sits an 06 Saturn Ion. Blue. Might want to keep it. WTF? The guy that has ripped these huge for years? The story: Wife's Cavalier is getting some work done to prepare for (back brakes/brushings/new back rim) for our vacation. So I borrowed a buddy's ION for a few days. Whole family got to use it. Kid even hit it a few times! The more I thought about it-the more I thought it might be a good replacement for the Cav. Nothing fancy, but it does the simple things well. Wife does not want a new car, knowing that 1)new cars cost money 2) my knowledge of car maintaince/cars in general. It fits in a few ways: It's plastic- This thing is goin…

just saw a list of the worst cars out there and low and behold 4 of the 10 are from GM: Escalade, Aveo, Colorado, and Canyon so much for GM and it's we make reliable cars and trucks. But I am glad to see as usual Buick is not on there. GM should take a page out of Buick and make them the top dog and move Chevy, and Cadilac at the bottom where they belong.

this is an editorial from a mag subscription i have to Muscle Machines. i thought it was a good read and patiently waited for it to be available on the hemmings site so as not to have to type it up. so without further delay "A Lesson Learned" by Craig Fitzgerald. I was driving home from work the other night, listening to an interview from Boch Toyota, located down near my old home in Massachusetts. The subject, of course, was the recall of some three million Toyotas to fix an issue with the accelerator pedal that was causing the pedal to stick to the floor in some very rare cases. Two things came immediately to mind. The first was an issue I had with my 1989 F-150. It…

The Patels in the US, Hari and Sarla, aka Harry and Sally, were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Harry kissed Sally goodbye and said, 'Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon.' Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. 'Good morning, Ma'am', he said, 'I've come to...' 'Oh, no need to explain,' Sally cut in, embarrassed, 'I've been expecting you.' 'Have you really?' said the photographer. 'Well, that's good. Did you know babies are my specialty?' 'Well that's what Harry and I had hop…

Hey guys, I know that at least some of you are from PA, and was hoping you could help me out. I am supposed to be moving to Grove City in about a month, and was hoping someone could tell me what the area is like. All I know is that it's a small town about half way between Pittsburgh and Erie. So what kind of recreation is there, is it a nice area, etc?

Today I too was the victim of the C&G Curse. Rear ended by a Toyota Camry taxicab (I guess you can only talk sh!t about Toyota so long without one of them coming to get you). I'm in my car sitting at a stoplight when I feel a huge bump and look in my mirror to see a cab has run into me. Driver was drinking from a water bottle and dropped it approaching the stoplight... The water bottle was pinned behind his brake pedal and he said he couldn't stop. I'll post some pics of the damage but suffice to say the whole bloody bumper needs to be replaced (FML).

I'm "angered/frustrated/saddened by domestic violence" is what I posted as a status on Facebook a day or so after I was told by a good friend of mine that another friend had been killed by her husband. I've known Amy for ~12 years. She had a heart of gold, and the world has lost a wonderful person. This is yet another "senseless act" ... and, to me, another reminder of how fragile life is, how much we need to "stick together", and how much violence doesn't particularly solve anything, but just adds more pain to the situation.... http://www.indystar.com/article/20100325/NEWS02/3250494/Two-die-after-Grant-Co.-standoff Cort | 36swm.IL | "Mr Monte Carlo"."Mr Road Trip"…

I just had this thought today. The lightest Colorado weighs only about 3300 pounds. And it is body-on-frame and RWD. So what if you took a stock Colorado chassis (short wheelbase) with a 5.3 V-8, lowered it, and designed an entirely new body for it, making it into a light and powerful muscle car? True, there no doubt would be handling issues, with the Colorado having live axles--not exactly ideal. But then again, it could be really pure and fun, and could even tow 6000 pounds! What do you guys think?

I recently picked a new primary care doctor. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age. (I just turned 65.) A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?' He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or wine?' 'Oh no,' I replied.. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!' Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs? 'I said, 'Not much... My former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!' 'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?' 'No, I don't,' I said. He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast car…

Been a couple weeks since I was around, thought I'd share my whereabouts. My family bought a "new" house finally, and so the last few weeks have been working on getting it ready to move in to. Check and fix water leaks, clean, paint, etc. It's a multifamily home, split into three (it used to be two) The main area of the first floor is my mom's and the upstairs is where my aunt's family is moving into. The rear section of the first floor was split up some time ago and used as an office, then converted into an apartment. This is where my girlfriend and I are living. So we get our own little place out of this, which is pretty cool. A little privacy yet still being able to …

I went with mom tonight to drop off her 2005 Cobalt with 20,500 miles, sign papers, and pick up her new leftover 2009 Nissan Cube 1.8 SL, Moss Green with black interior. She leased it for 39 months at $115/month, a heck of a deal. She's been wanting one since they came out, and she was able to get it. It rides pretty nice, quiet, with a lot of features and nice, wide, flat seats. CVT is warranteed for 10 years/120k miles on Nissans, I didn't know dat.

This will be a short work week, as I am taking Friday off to make it a 3-day Easter weekend and flying out of town. Friday will mean some good fish for lunch and dinner (maybe salmon and halibut) and Easter Sunday ought to bring a good brunch buffet. Today is Passover. I asked one of my co-workers if he was celebrating the Seder meal, but he told me he was not observant. I would like to get invited to one someday to experience it. Are you doing anything to celebrate this week's religious holidays? Resting? Traveling somewhere?

This one is easy for me ... and it should be no surprise. The 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme coupe...preferably in Brougham (loose cushion seating) or Salon (tall reclining buckets) trim. I'm still confining myself to one car for my answer if I say that the 1975 version was also a very attractive car, but the 1976 was a leap forward with the absence of fender sculpting and rectangular headlamps. Wow. 1976 - one of the better poses for this car, and everyone fell in love (credit to Classic Oldsmobile.com) 1975 - my favorite color at top of photo, but it needed a white vinyl top; nice tan swivel-out buckets at bottom LH suited to the rust exterior (credit to Mclel…

I've probably said I time or two how much I like the Fusion/Milan...especially the Milan, and especially in white. (I took some pictures and, once I get my phone data cable, I'll post them). I still like the Fusion/Milan and, at the present time, I like them more than the current Malibu. However, the way the next-gen Malibu is shaping up (on that sub-forum), I am fairly impressed. Fast forward: this afternoon, I went to a nearby dealership and was looking at the Milans. I asked the salesperson (he was not pushy) if I could open up a four-cylinder and start it up...and I was able to do that. The bottom line: the four-cylinder in the Milan is a little loud, despite …

Hey everyone, I have been thinking about this a little lately, and I wanted to see what you all thought about it. Am I way off track?! It seems to me as though Toyota is paralleling GM of the 70's and 80's. And by that I mean, cutting corners - doing things cheaper, riding along on a reputation instead of producing the product to maintain the reputation? It seems like Toyota (and I've thought this since before this whole recall situation) is cutting corners a lot. I don't spend too much time in Toyota's, and I personally strongly dislike the company - mainly because their products all lack excitement or driving dynamics (I guess I can't say all, my experience is v…

Hello everyone, I am on a week long ski trip out here in Colorado - and my rental car is a 2009 Flex Fuel Chevrolet HHR. There are limited E85 fueling stations out here, so the first two tanks I ran through the car was regular gas (85 octane out here - 87 is midgrade, and 91 is the high grade). Driving through some pretty serious mountain passes (tacking 5700 in order to maintain 60mph) I averaged 32.5mpg over 700+ miles. I found a station that had E85 (2.19 per gallon vs. 2.75 per gallon of 85 octane) and filled up. I knew there was going to be a drop in fuel economy using E85, but I was a little surprised at how drastic the drop was. I went from 32.5mpg on 85 octa…

I've wanted a personalized license plate for some time now, but with leasing it was impossible in the state of NJ. Now that I financed the 2006 GMC Envoy SLT, I am motivated to act quickly on getting a plate all of my own. Below are some of the suggestions I and/or the wife came up with; please vote on your favorite of the following choices, OR if I haven't been creative enough, please make YOUR 7-character suggestion in a post (bonus points to anyone that comes up with a great 5-character suggestion). TIA for your participation!!

I was just over @ Autoblog lookin' at the threads and holy heck there's a picture of the old Cadillac sign at the dealership I worked at in Easton, Maryland for 10 years that went bust last year. What a sad picture. That was an old sign that was kept maintained (lit with neon) about 200 feet from the highway. You can see the empty lot behind it. Sigh. CADILLAC

One fast–growing American industry has become a conspicuous beneficiary of the recession: for–profit colleges and trade schools. At institutions that train students for careers in areas like health care, computers and food service, enrollments are soaring as people anxious about weak job prospects borrow aggressively to pay tuition that can exceed $30,000 a year. But the profits have come at substantial taxpayer expense while often delivering dubious benefits to students, according to academics and advocates for greater oversight of financial aid. Critics say many schools exaggerate the value of their degree programs, selling young people on dreams of middle–class wages…

An obese mother in the US is trying to put on weight in order to become the world's fattest woman. Donna Simpson, from New Jersey, weighs 273kg but told the Daily Mail newspaper she had her heart set on reaching her goal weight of 1000lb (450kg) in two years. The 42-year-old already holds the title of the world's fattest mother after giving birth to her daughter in 2007 when she weighed 241kg. "I'd love to be 1000lb ... it might be hard though, running after my daughter keeps my weight down," Ms Simpson told the Daily Mail. Ms Simpson, who needs a mobility scooter to go shopping, eats huge amounts of junk food each week and tries to move as little as possible so she d…

For some time now we've wanted to add a Wiki feature to C&G to capture the wealth of automotive knowledge we have floating around C&G. We have been waiting patiently for the developer of the IPBWiki software to complete the coding so that we can link your C&G log in to the C&G Wiki.... thus no need for multiple sign on IDs. It has become clear to me that the IPBWiki software isn't going to be completed anytime soon, and even if it were, the support looks like it will be nearly non-existent. I've been trying to find ways of moving forward without IPBWiki... what I keep coming back to is just using the MediaWiki software (this is the software that Wikiped…

A woman was helping her husband set up his computer, and at the appropriate point in the process, she told him that he would now need to enter a password. Something he could remember easily and will use each time he has to log on. The husband was in a rather amorous mood and figured he would try for the shock effect to bring this to his wife's attention. So, when the computer asked him to enter his password, he made it plainly obvious to his wife that he was keying in... P... E... N... I… S... His wife fell off her chair laughing when the message appeared: PASSWORD REJECTED....... NOT LONG ENOUGH

Actually, I am not crazy about going there but, when I have to, I will definitely go. For the Regal, I have bought 5 items there - and saved myself a lot of money: 1. Heater blower motor 2. Washer fluid bottle 3. Radio pod 4. Steering wheel 5. Dash light 30 second delay switch ($7 instead of $200+, ridiculous) When I am there, it's fun to walk around the aisles and look at cars I used to like (i.e. Grand Le Mans )

http://jalopnik.com/5491612/pussy-wagon-stars-in-new-lady-gaga-music-video If you have ears you've probably heard a thousand Lady Gaga songs. Or at least you've heard one song a thousand times. And because her very NSFW video "Telephone" co-stars the "Kill Bill" Pussy Wagon you'll now know another song. This could be the actual Silverado SS Pussy Wagon from the Kill Bill series or a detailed replica, but who really cares as long as it's P***Y Magnet Yellow?

...to the "world car" trend in strategy the automakers are using is what it is doing to design. Those damned european pedestrian laws are giving new cars a big, bulbous, clown nose. I think it flat out destroys most designs. Discuss.

MYFOXNY.COM - Some New York City chefs and restaurant owners are taking aim at a bill introduced in the New York Legislature that, if passed, would ban the use of salt in restaurant cooking. "No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of any food for consumption by customers of such restaurant, including food prepared to be consumed on the premises of such restaurant or off of such premises," the bill, A. 10129 , states in part. The legislation, which Assemblyman Felix Ortiz , D-Brooklyn, introduced on March 5, would fine restaurants $1,000 for each violation. "The consumer needs to make their own health choices. J…

In the myriad articles about the whole Toyota recall business, why is it OK to keep repeating this line... "Toyota's STERLING reputation for safety..."? Since when did Toyota have anything other than an average record for safety? I mean, when I think of a car with a STERLING reputation for safety, I think Volvo or SAAB, but NEVER Toyota.

Black Barbie Sold for Less Than White Barbie at Walmart Store Walmart Says Lower Sales of Ballerina Theresa Barbie Prompted the Price Cut Walmart is raising eyebrows after cutting the price of a black Barbie doll to nearly half of that of the doll's white counterpart at one store and possibly others. A photo first posted to the humor Web site FunnyJunk.com and later to the Latino Web site Guanabee.com shows packages of Mattel's Ballerina Barbie and Ballerina Theresa dolls hanging side by side at an unidentified store. The Theresa dolls, which feature brown skin and dark hair, are marked as being on sale at $3.00. The Barbies to the right of the Theresa dolls, meanwhil…

This has always been of interest to me. Of course Detroit and Flint are the famous ones, but scattered throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes states are smaller cities that were once heavy on industry and now empty shells. Some places like the Quad Cities, St. Louis, and Cleveland are making a comeback, while others like the ones listed below continue to deteriorate. Gary, Indiana - founded in 1906 by US Steel Corporation, it was Indiana's 2nd largest city until changing demographics, steel layoffs, and rising crime sent almost half of the population packing. Today it has just under 100,000 people. Gary in the early 60's --------- East St. Louis, Illino…

HAHA, how do you like that topic title? I have been checking out 1st gen Cadillac CTS's lately, and I have noticed a little square on the rear bumper (about 2" by 2"), and I was wondering if anyone knew what that was. I have seen them on several different cars lately and was just curious. It is not a rear parking assist sensor. I am going to attach this pic that I found on the internet, but I"m not sure if I'm legally allowed to. I guess if my computer does blow up on me, I"m good!? It is on the right side of the bumper, just above the exhaust pipe. It really doesn't matter to me, but I see them all the time and have always wondered what they are. While we are t…

We all know some men and, we'd like to hope not women, shave while behind the wheel of their vehicle; however, this one takes a whole new step off the last rung of the ladder of stupidity: Can I hopefully state that this can only happen in Florida? US woman crashes when shaving bikini line A US woman has been arrested after crashing into a truck as she shaved her bikini line while she was driving. Megan Mariah Barnes, 37, was on the way to a date with her boyfriend in southern Florida when the collision took place, TV station WFOR-TV reported. Barnes allegedly gave her ex-husband the wheel as she shaved her private parts because she wanted to be "ready for the visit"…

My boss has had 2 Escape 4WDs as his demos this winter, first a black Hybrid, and now an XLT V6. The few times I've gotten to drive them, I've been impressed with the solid, quiet ride on dry pavement. I asked him how the 4WD did for him in the snow, and he said he was unimpressed, said neither one felt like it was really pulling much with the rear wheels, even in deep snow where it surely would have been necessary. He said it was not like a pickup truck, where you shift it into 4WD and you can feel it work. Kind of disappointed me to hear him say that. I wonder if GM's AWD Equinox/Terrain system is similar to the Escape's in operation and in low-traction conditions …

UNDATED -- A 96-year-old Florida man is recovering after an otter went on the attack. Morrie Denton said he was just out for a stroll when the animal struck. "I just looked down on the ground and I saw this little animal walking across and he walked real slow like," Denton said. Denton said without warning, near a wetland area, an otter clamped down on his ankle. Two good Samaritans came to the elderly man's aid, but the otter then turned its focus on them. "After he grabbed me by the foot and I fell, he was all over me, on this hand and then on this one,” Denton said. A good Samaritan stopped to help Denton, but struggled to pull the otter off. Passerby Chris Jans…
