This guy lives down the block from me, and I have never heard the truck on the road, so I don't know if he put a 350 in it, but here's a blurry pic of a ~1988 Chevy S10 Dualy. I'm sure it is more of a "just because" conversion than for any real hauling purpose, but it still looks cool.

Rain rain & more rain... makes for a wet & damp roadtrip. As some of you know I attended a Nissan Club Meet at the Grafton Lakes State Park, NY this past weekend. It was raining when I left Mass, it rained the WHOLE time I was there and rained even heavier on the way back. Western Mass & NY better have some sick May Flowers this year, that's all I have to say. The Meet was fun but the cars and events were dismal. The lack of attendance was chalked up to the crappy weather but the people who did show up were cool so it was a fun roadtrip. As it turned out, most of the guys there were from Altimas.net but the mix of cars was pretty hilarious. 3…

I've been saying I'd get these uploaded since I joined the site in 2004. Well here they are: several videos of how I occasionally abuse my poor Camaro. The car is tough as nails, unrestored, pretty rough cosmetically and pretty much all of the mechanical hardware is factory save for the crate motor. Enjoy.... & let's see your own shenanigans too! * these are all only 15 sec. quicktime movies with no sound. They were taken with my ancient Nikon digital camera. This footage was taken at the same place where I did my burnout photo that got published in Car Craft. As a matter of fact this was only about 2 months after that photo was taken. July of 2004 or …

While saving some money, and trying to prove a point, my buddy is using those "other" brands for his car. He used to do some of the same things we do here to baby our cars (even his beater, a Cav like my wife's), but says no that now it's time to use some common sense, as most "stuff" out there is all the same..... I do find it interesting....(and he's not cheaping out on his classic Mustang..) Things he did this week... New Goodyear Viva 2s from Walmart Super Tech Full Syn oil (instead of Mobil 1) Super Tech Car Wash (instead of Mothers) It's a little different coming from a fellow car guy....what do you guys think?

well last monday i made my final payment of $311.62 to GMAC on my 2004 Colorado. Yesterday i got this in the mail. on my way to work today i go and do this to it. i was on my way into work like i said. i was looking at a 70ish GMC pickup and there was a 94-7 mustang in front of me. he was prolly around 10-15 car lengths ahead. well when i looked back in front of me he was 5 and was turning... i stood on the pedal and almost made it but i kissed the stang right on the rear passenger side corner. long story short it only spider webbed the mustang but did a number on my bumper. no ticket though cause the owner was cool about it. my insurance agent said …

Thus, a new Office Policy is introduced below ... and is effecive immediately. Dress Code: You are advised to come to work dressed according to your salary. If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we will assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a raise. If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a raise. So I drop my seventeen year old son off at guitar Center, and cruise through the local Ford dealer...look at a few cars while my son is looking at guitars...then I slide over to the Hyundai dealer because my son wants to spend some time playing one last guitar. I'm checking out the Genesis coupe, and some guy has his two kids in the back seat (young, perhaps about 6 and 8, boy and girl). Guys wife is test driving a Sonota, and this guy is telling me how a V6 Genesis is faster than a Camaro SS or Mustang GT, and how Hyundai is the most awesomist car company ever. This is one seriously awesome game. The graphics, the realism, the combat modes...and mostly, the scenario. In 1989, the Soviet Union mounts a full-scale invasion of the United States (Seattle, to be exact) and you're engaged in various campaigns to route the Russian advance. Its single and multiplayer and this is probably the first multiplayer game I'm going to take part in because its so neat. http://www.worldinconflict.com/ Downlod the demo and try it out or at least watch the trailers under DOWNLOADS. Today (Sunday the 13th) was a great day for car shows... the weather was awesome andthere was a "street rod" event at Canobie Lake Park, as well as the Endicott Estate car show where I showed my '59 Buick LeSabre last year, I actually it parked tailfin-to-tailfin with a '60 LeSabre 2dr hardtop. But I missed both of those shows... an a half dozen others. In fact, shockingly I was no where near a paved road. But it's all good because SpeedingPenguin, myself & a few buddies were up in thewoods of New Hampshire at (undisclosed location) "wasting" $200 worht of Ammo & eating $50 worth of BBQ'd hot dogs & cheeseburgers. Automotive News July 30, 2007 - 12:01 am As legislators, regulators and automakers look for ways to improve fuel economy, they must remember that consumers will make the ultimate choices. And that's going to cause a few surprises. One example: Consumers are bidding up the prices of used cars and trucks equipped with fuel-saving diesel engines. That contradicts conventional wisdom, which holds that Americans gave up on diesels in the 1980s. Some environmentalists turn up their noses at diesel engines, but technological advances have made diesels more palatable to U.S. consumers. The Power Information Network estimates that U.S. consumers will buy more than 500,00…

So the average new car price currently sits at $33,781. Which is a decent amount. There's some pretty solid deals out there for that kinda money. I'm going to round that number up slightly to $35,000, and use it as the base line for this Dream Garage thread. Rules- 1) You have a total of $175,000. 2) You must have at least 2, but no more than 5 automobiles. 3) You can spend as much or as little on any one vehicle as you want. 4) These are your only vehicles. 5) Choices must be brand new and on sale now. 6) You CAN use actual sale prices, rather than MSRP, SO LONG AS THEY ARE REALISTIC. I am right now in Mount Clemens, MI helping my fiance get situated in her new condo. Today while driving around we noticed a maroon colored 65 Mustang with double barrel 289 V-8 and looked in a decently good condition. The vehicle did not have any noticable physical damage and the interior with beige leather which the owner said is reworked looked pretty decent. The owner is asking about $6500. My fiance always liked owning old cars and she feels like wanting it. Since I am poor in judging old cars other than Corvettes, it will be greatful for all of you guys put your two cents or dollar or $6500 in it.

I've probably met the most interesting person I'm going to meet while working at a parts store. Yesterday a gentleman came in to pick up an Optima battery he had ordered. He brought the core with him, a battery sold by us 6 years ago. Generally, a battery that old is not the prettiest thing. They range from dirty to downright scary. This one wasn't though, it looked practically new. I happened to comment on it and he told me its because it came out of a DeLorean. I like DMC 12s, so I asked him a bit about it. As it turns out, Patrick Shea and his father own not one, but three of them. One of them is a restored DeLorean, another was restored and converted into an accurat…

OK, this is the current condition of these 2 rides. The finned wonder is my '59 Invicta, the other is my brother's '71 GTO 4-spd. I am head of him in the process: all metal work is completed and in epoxy primer, and the shell is back on the refurbished frame. Front & RR suspension is done, as is my rear axle. I also have a bunch of the new parts, and a bunch of cosmetically restored parts. My brother may or may not be done with metal repair- I think the floors still need work. Also, his frame is untouched yet, but there is a TON more repro parts available for the '71. He also has 2 lifts at his house We have an unofficial bet on which gets their car done first.…

An unnamed Lexus executive reportedly told a GM-oriented blog that the next-generation Lexus ES sedan will make the Buick LaCrosse a “laughable” luxury car. The executive was quoted by GMAuthority.com, which says it was able to glean a little information about the next-generation luxury sedan. Expected to bow later this year to replace the aging 2012 Lexus ES (which first debuted for 2007), the new car will reportedly be wider and longer than the current model in an effort to better compete against rivals like the LaCrosse and Acura TL . In addition, the executive said that the LaCrosse won’t be able to “hold a candle to” the ES’ interior quietness. Buick ’s “Quiet Tun…

Happy Holidays to all this 2017! We have all had our take on the auto industry and much more this year, it has been one for the history books and it now looks to be the start of an industry changing year as the success of the Chevy Bolt, start of rough production for Tesla 3 and so many new options as the industry moves from cars to CUVs and an exciting Detroit auto show ahead of us. Just wanted to take a few minutes to say thank you to all that have made Cheers and Gears such an entertaining and awesome place to talk about the auto industry. Way too many people to thank each one individually but want to say; Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you all!

My Dad replaced his '03 Dodge Dakota with a brand-new Inferno Red '06 Dakota today. It was an impulse buy to say the least. A water-pump had gone on his '03 earlier today, so he brought it directly to the dealer for service. Instead of coming home with a repaired '03, he came home with a new '06. The dealer practically gave the thing away (he had several months left on his original lease). It's a fully-loaded Dakota Laramie complete with the 4.7-liter V-8, leather interior, 17" Aluminum/Chrome Wheels, upgraded Infinity sound-system w/ in-dash 6-disc CD/MP3 player, SIRIUS Satelite radio, and just about every other imaginable option. It stickered for just over $…

Very positive! Kerrang <--- A break down of differing elements in the music. Metal Hammer <--- Has the new MissionMetallicA clips as well as a great description of the songs they heard. LOL, James is rockin' the 'goatfield' about the same length as mine now in the clips. The Quietus <--- Says a lot of truths about the band but isn't fair about the Load era (I loved the Loads and even St. Anger when taken into context) and BTW, I don't think the Red Hot Chili Peppers (as horrible as they are) ever really needed any help. On second thought, this review is pretty much pure $h!, claiming that "Load" almost finished MetallicA in 1996. Whatever…

I discovered this site called NNDB.com that tracks famous people and lists know information about them. Under George W. Bush's profile, it says "Assassination Attempt Tbilisi, Georgia (10-May-2005)" NNDB (link in middle of page) This is the first time I've heard about this...I checked Wikipedia and it came up with nothing. Did somebody try to assassinate him, or is this info incorrect?

Over the course of the next 3 weeks I will be attending a few Media Drives. I cannot possibly drive and review every vehicle offered at these events and unfortunately, I will not know which vehicles will be available for drives until I actually get to the event (with the exception of Buick, I happen to know that their entire lineup will be available). At these drives, all but the most exotic brands will be there. (Though Rolls and Bentley have attended in the past.) Please list the most important recent releases that you feel we should focus on if they are available for a drive that have not yet visited C&G for a review. Once we have a list, we will pick the top 15…

The other day I wrote an estimate for a guy with an '02 Accord V6. He was eager to schedule the repairs so he could go and look into trading in his car... for a new Malibu. My ears perked up and I gave him a pep talk. Here's to continued momentum and good word-of-mouth for the new Malibu.

"We've been hurting one another & now the pain has cut too deep" __ Annie Lennox __ 'Walking On Broken Glass' Life IS mostly good, but am I the only 1 nerve-wracked? I'm contemplating whether or not to appeal the disability denial; need to receive more of my medical records & speak with a lawyer...ugh. I have time for a road trip, but no $$. Okay, by now you've seen that I'm going to sell the SKY soon and it's apparent that I am also trying to get rid of the AURA too. Not that there's anything wrong with either car (how I'd love to kkeep them both), but the wife informed me recently that we are living way beyond our means. After making as many changes as possible to help save where we could, it still boils down that the SKY needs to be sold to pay off other debt, and triming our remaining car payments down would really help too. She said for the Envoy to go, but I told her that the lease has 11 months remaining and I really like the Envoy. So that leads to the AURA having to go, which I'm working on with …

I was talking to my cousin over the weekend. She has a co-worker who returned an FJ Cruiser off lease and got into a new Edge. I was happy to hear that. This got me thinking... is there a source of information somewhere that lists percentages of models traded for others? For example, statistically, what are the top 3 vehicles traded in for an Impala, and so forth. I'm sure some surprises would be in store. Does anyone know where this information can be found?
