Last year I gave some friends of mine a crack pipe for Christmas. Neither of them are what you would call a crack head. The husband has never so much as drank alcohol, his wife was a bit of a pothead when I first met her (I've known her longer than him) but she doesn't do it now. Its in a box somewhere now, I thought they should have put it on the tree as an ornament.

I need to find the headlight adjuster for a '99ish Volvo wagon (a V40 I think). If anyone has a hookup for a used one, or knows an aftermarket source, please let me know. It's a needlessly complex affair made of plastic that just dry-rots and crumbles. I was replacing the bulb for my lanlord/employer and the damn thing just gave way.

I have a bicycling issue, I was hoping someone on here could help out, I know some of you have mentioned biking as a hobby in the past. Basically, I've spent the last 2 years doing short, intense rides, a couple of hours at a time over hellacious terrain, and my body is used to it. My issue is, I'm going to do a charity ride (Start to Finish MS, anyone want to donate?) in September , it'll be 80-100 miles each way (dont know the route yet) and I'm worried about trying to turn myself into an endurance cyclist. Today, I went on a 40 mile ride, that frankly didn't go well. My ass was in the most extreme pain I've felt in years and my back didn't feel that greta either. …

The Beginning It was Fall of the year 2004, as I looked for my first car. I really wanted a Fiero. I looked for one left and right. I knew it was a longshot, but I would constantly dream of it and had hopes it would become a reality. Soon enough, the idea was shot down by my parents, only after agreeing to it earlier. I wasn't happy, needless to say, but my search continued into the Winter. My dad would always buy the weekly Trade book, looking for deals. Soon enough, we came across an ad for a 1995 Grand Am GT with a manual transmission for $1000. My thoughts were "Atleast it's a manual". I wasn't overly enthusiastic, but I thought it would be a decent car. We called t…

Stumbled on this: http://conceptrends.com/2009/03/15/green-f...in-south-korea/ I learn something every day. Apparently in Korea, trees don't require space for roots, and there aren't horrific winds at skyscraper heights! Some of the balconies may be ok (and some probably intolerably windy), but I can tell you this - those parks in the spaces that are open all the way through the building aren't going to have a single leaf on the trees. Wind tunnel anyone? The general idea is neat, but overall it seems like the ideas that make it interesting and unique are the most flawed.

He brought the core with him, a battery sold by us 6 years ago. Generally, a battery that old is not the prettiest thing. They range from dirty to downright scary. This one wasn't though, it looked practically new. I happened to comment on it and he told me its because it came out of a DeLorean. I like DMC 12s, so I asked him a bit about it. 73. Automotive News July 30, 2007 - 12:01 am As legislators, regulators and automakers look for ways to improve fuel economy, they must remember that consumers will make the ultimate choices. And that's going to cause a few surprises. One example: Consumers are bidding up the prices of used cars and trucks equipped with fuel-saving diesel engines. That contradicts conventional wisdom, which holds that Americans gave up on diesels in the 1980s. Some environmentalists turn up their noses at diesel engines, but technological advances have made diesels more palatable to U.S. consumers. The Power Information Network estimates that U.S. consumers will buy more than 500,00…

  85. ONE FUNNY MOVIE TRAILER:

I'm using Firefox. I have up-to-date Windows Media Player, Quicktime, RealPlayer, Java, and Shockwave. It's a brand new computer. When I try to watch a video on the internet, it tells me to install a "missing" plug-in. I ask it to find the plug-in and it says I have all the plug-ins I need, but the video doesn't play. Uhh.. wtf?!

Hi there, it's your favorite staff writer! Okay, maybe I am embellishing this a bit. It has been about six months since I have announced that I would stepping away from my full-time role as a staff writer for a job with JATO Dynamics as a specs researcher. This past week marked six months at the new job and I thought it would be a good time to give an update of where I stand. To start, the new job has been working out very well. Most of my work deals with taking data from automakers on various vehicles and putting into our systems. That may seem tedious (and there makes and model where it is that), but I am oddly enjoying. I think a lot of comes from figuring o…

  89. So I'm graduating on Friday, and I don't really know what I want for graduation. I really don't have many ideas, so maybe you guys have some good ones. But, one idea I have is the black taillamps from the 06 GTOs. What does everyone think and what would be some other good gifts to ask for instead?

Prolly no one remembers, but I posted back in April about a purple old-skool Mini that appeared on our lot that I got to drive a li'l bit. Here's a photo I had of it in our mechanical shop next to a slightly larger vehicle that was in for an earl change:

  97. Yesterday, with over a quarter of a million miles, I put the 4th serpertine belt at a blended GM dealership a little further out since they had a good parts and labor price (about $90). I had a great experience visiting that service department. This is actually the third such experience. a) At a Costco in California, I went in there for a tire rotation. There was this real weird guy who (a) wouldn't rotate my tires front to back as I had requested because he wanted to do the diagonal rotation, but did so after I kept arguing with him, and (b) while talking to him, told me that frequent oil changes (even 3,000 miles) hurt the car more than changing the oil infrequent…

I know that LSx engines get stronger as they get less "green," but I've never heard of them getting better gas mileage as well. When I got the GTO with about 6k miles on it, I got 13.3.-13.5MPG consistently on each tank. Then one tank I averaged 14.1MPG and was presently surprised. That went on for a couple tanks, and then the last tank I got 14.6MPG. I thought maybe I was just babying it more than I used to, but now more than 3/4 of the way through the current tank I'm getting 15.1MPG and am definetly not babying it all the time. Anyone ever heard of the LS1 increasing performance AND gas mileage over time? This is also interesting because the Alero which is 700lb…
