Next time you think your hotel bill is too high you might want to consider this... Husband and wife are traveling by car from Key West to Boston After almost twenty-four hours on the road, They're too tired to continue, and they decide to stop for a rest. They stop at a nice hotel and take a room, but they only plan to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road. When they check out four hours later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for $350.00. The man explodes and demands to know why the charge is so high. He tells the clerk although it's a nice hotel, the rooms certainly aren't worth $350.00! When the clerk tells him $350.00 is the standard rate, the …

Well Direct TV just put XM on the music channels. I actually use them often through the sterio. So anybody have any favorites ? Im only assuming they are titled the same nationally. Ive been listening to Deep Tracks thats been playing some stuff I forgot all about. Right now Pink Floyd from a BBC recording in 1970, wow, I think Im having a flashback. In the early 70's I used to listen to this station that came out of RPI college in Troy NY, those college students always played this more progressive non commercial music and thats what its like listening to this now. It was like the underground back then.

[source: MotorAuthority] Lotus reveals new photos of Evora ahead of June launch Many Celebrities on the Waiting List The wraps first came off the Lotus Evora 2+2 GT back in July 2008 but despite the car looking production-ready Lotus engineers had plenty of fine tuning to complete before the car could finally go on sale. Then, almost nine months later, Lotus finally confirmed the production specifications for the Evora and announced a launch date for this May. That date got bumped to June, but the car is finally on its way - for Europe at least. To ramp up excitement for the launch, Lotus has released a new set of images of the Evora, reve…

While watching "Last Comic Standing" tonight, NBC showed two promo spots for a new show starting this fall called "My Own Worst Enemy" with Christian Slater. He plays a duel character - Henry, the average joe, and Eddie, a cross between 007 and an assassin. The second promo showed "Henry" driving in his mundane blue Chevy Traverse, while "Eddie" cruises around in a silver 5th generation Camaro coupe. So NBC is showing both Ford (Knight Rider) and Chevy some lovin' with new fall shows.

Some friends and I took a trip to the fine country of Canada this weekend. We hit up Winnipeg and a few towns in between and a had a great time while doing it. On the way home we took the long way, through a lot of small towns in Southern Manitoba. One thing I happened to notice is that in a lot of these small towns close to the border, there are a lot of nice, new homes (and quite a few being built) and what looks to be a lot of successful small businesses. A ton different compared to the small towns of the same size just across the border in North Dakota. People on average don't build new homes on the North Dakota side of the border unless it is in a town of at lea…

We have a Prius in the shop with over $7k in front end damages. We needed to order some fairly obscure parts for it, and things were sort of slow today for drive-in estimates, so I took the damaged parts down to the local dealer to help out their parts guys. If anybody for Cheers and gears wnats to show up the nights that I am bartending I'll give lot's of buybacks and freebees. EV Trucks / SUVs Designs - New Revolution of Style? With the Detroit auto show and the new trucks and SUV's that are coming out, this had me thinking as many comments especially in regards to the car side has been about how HOMOGENIZED the auto style has become! We have the Pro ICE crowd, Pro EV crowd, Pro all of it crowd and with the discussions, it got me thinking about the fact of truck / SUVs style. It is not a question of if, but when we will see EV trucks / SUVs become part of the blend of options on the dealer lot. EV auto's offer a whole new range of style as unlike ICE auto's that must have the airflow for cooling, EV's are needing a different set …

I spent the entire day yesterday on the beach at Assateague, near Ocean City, MD. For my trip home, I decided to come back through my old town of Easton, MD, to check out the GM dealership I worked at for 10 years before moving to PA in 2003. It went out of business and has since been sitting empty, I guess it's been about a year now. I was glad to see an area dealer group's name on the front of the building, and new Chevys and Cadillacs once again sitting for sale out front. I hope they can make a go of it, as the old owners were a local fixture for decades and the location is ideal.

SAMSON, Ala. – Nine people were gunned down in a terrifying rampage across two Alabama counties by a lone shooter who authorities said burned down his mother's home with her inside, killed his own relatives on their porch and shot apparent strangers and police before killing himself. Tuesday's shootings in a mostly rural area near the Florida border were believed to be the work of Michael McLendon, who lived with his mother and had once worked at a local metal plant. The bloodshed began when McLendon burned down his mother's house in Kinston, according to Coffee County Coroner Robert Preachers. Authorities found Lisa McLendon's body inside, but they had not determined…

man was washed up on a beach after a terrible shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheepdog were washed up with him. After looking around, he realized that they were stranded on a deserted island. After being there awhile, he got into the habit of taking his two animal companions to the beach every evening to watch the sunset. One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle - a perfect night for romance. As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the lonely man. Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it. But the sheepdog, ever protective of the sheep, growled fiercel…

BBC Link Sudan man forced to 'marry' goat A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal. The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders. They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi. "We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said. Mr Alifi, Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat. Posted: Thursday, August 6 2009 at 03:27 pm CT by Bob Sullivan The best way to get the attention of a classroom full of rowdy kids is to turn the lights off. And the best way to get the attention of Internet users is to essentially do the same thing. Thursday’s Twitter denial-of-service hack certainly grabbed everyone's attention. Nothing like a total shutdown to make people sit up and take notice. But relatively speaking, denialof-service attacks are harmless. Everyone's been through it - CNN, Yahoo, Microsoft. Heck, Facebook and LiveJournal were hit Thursday, too, by the social media bandwidth bandit. (Msnbc.com is a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC Universal.) …

Dear Internal Revenue Service: Enclosed you will find my 2005 tax return showing that I owe $3,407.00 in taxes. Please note the attached article from the USA Today newspaper; dated 12 November, wherein you will see the Pentagon (Department of Defense) is paying $171.50 per hammer and NASA has paid $600.00 per toilet seat. I am enclosing four (4) toilet seats (valued @ $2,400) and six (6) hammers valued @ $1,029), which I secured at Home Depot, bringing my total remittance to $3,429.00. Please apply the overpayment of $22.00 to the "Presidential Election Fund," as noted on my return. You can do this inexpensively by sending them one (1) 1.5" Phillips Head screw (se…

... didn't even have to use my A.K. Okay seriously. We stopped by at Marcia's Grandmother's house and when we were leaving Sofia blew a kiss to Gram in that cute two-year-old-angel kind of way. Gram said she reminded her of the girl (back in the day) who used to blow a kiss at the end of some variety show right after she sang the "See the USA in your Chevrolet". Call me crazy but that made my day. Gram & Gramps (who is now in a home due to his Altzheimer's ) have owned several cars from Chevrolet over the years. As a matter of fact Gram says besides the 1996 Grand Marquis and two late 50s Plymouths they always had Chevrolets. Several Biscaynes/Impalas and then a…

My State Police PBA card got me out of 2 very serious tickets today: driving on the wrong side of the road and 'failure to follow the direction of a police officer'. >>Insert gigantic WHEW!! here<< Last time I had a road altercation was '97: a woman stopped short in a busy roadway right in front of me, I swerved and would've missed her completely (my left headlight clipped her right taillight), but a dump truck was parked & blocking the shoulder (so much for 'less-than-ridgeline-handling'!). Then, the officer said "I'm not going to give you a ticket" but 2 weeks later one arrived in the mail after an &#…

Tonight they had a GM commercial during the oscars. What struck me is that this is the best General Motors ever. Every division has some really great, no apologies necessary, cars. The product is fantastic. If only they can get the business side of things together.

Why is asking for and/or accepting the help of others so seemingly taboo? I'm exhausted and so tired I can't even sleep, which is not good, since I have to be at work Thursday and Friday. But, trying to do my best to help my parents at home after their surgeries (Mom donated a kidney to Dad), while doing what I need to do ... and trying to make my sister understand that I AM helping Dad and Mom ... is starting to grate on my nerves. I love helping Dad and Mom, especially after the sacrifices they have made, but when they won't LET me help them as my sister insists I need to ... it frustrates me. Thus the somewhat re-worded, semi-rhetorical query I posed to start thi…

I brought this up on a previous thread, and it sounds like Detroitnut90 had a somewhat similar problem: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...c=14823&hl= But I'll post again just in case the other topic gets buried. Anyway, like a week or so ago, I wanted to access C&G, but unlike most other times, I got a white screen, with some internet jargon... Now I figured it was just the site going messed, so I ignore it. Later that day I try to access again, and get the same message. No biggie. Tuesday rolls around and I'm reading and watching about the auto show, but not from C&G... I'm getting a wee little antsy that I'm still getting the same error me…

OK, this is not a discussion thread, just a poll. Don't vote FWD or RWD if you might consider the other configuration in a NEW car. Used car purchases don't count.

Does any of you play any racing video games/simulators? Which ones? I understand that most of the posters here are old f@rts (not that I am young myself to be honest), but I was wondering if any of you play. Just recently got for my son's birthday Playstation 4 and was considering getting a wheel and pedal setup to play Project Cars 2.

Title is me. Still in IL for now, no certain plans for the next few weeks, but will be moving to Cincinnati. unless i have to find a job closer to there anyway. Either the Locomotive business is being terrible last and this year, or NRE may be crumbling.

I need to find a car or several cars that were built at least 5 years ago that offered manual transmissions only. These cars can be from as far back as the 60s or 70s until about 5-10 years ago and preferably, American made. The car could also have offered a manual transmission then later offered an automatic but not in the same model year. Please give model of car, year, and any other specifications that you might be helpful. I can’t really say who or what this is for but I will say that the information will go towards good use and in a couple of months, you might even find out what this information you give me was used for. I would prefer it if you sent your submis…

I'm pretty sure its a network issue (AT&T) but I keep getting text messages. Thats normal, I use about 2000/month, but I keep getting the same messages over and over. It started this afternoon with a co-worker texting me, I got it three times. I thought it odd, and went on. Then it happened again. And again, dozens of times over a couple of hours. Then it got really weird, because now I keep getting the same messages I was getting 5-7 hours ago. One text came with time stamps of 5:20, 5:21 and 5:21 then again at 10:50, 10:50 and 10:51. I have unlimted texting, so if it keeps up, it wont cost me, but its really annoying, since my text alert is, "PC Load Letter,…
