Can anyone explain why my connection has headed south literally overnight? Yesterday, I managed to get a decent dial-up connection of around 46.6. Tonight, I've gotten nothing but a lousy 28.8. Usually, disconnecting and reconnecting fixes the problem on the off chance it happens. But now, it's all I get. Running at half-speed just doesn't work. And I can't tolerate a slow connection. Any way I can get my connection back to normal speed? This is getting aggravating. If it helps, here's the Modem Log.

  3. I remember quite a while ago, someone posted figures about the 'most North American' vehicles, where they factored in where the parts were sourced, etc. Does anyone know where I can find these figures, or updated ones?

Ive been listening to Deep Tracks thats been playing some stuff I forgot all about. Right now Pink Floyd from a BBC recording in 1970, wow, I think Im having a flashback. In the early 70's I used to listen to this station that came out of RPI college in Troy NY, those college students always played this more progressive non commercial music and thats what its like listening to this now. He plays a duel character - Henry, the average joe, and Eddie, a cross between 007 and an assassin. The second promo showed "Henry" driving in his mundane blue Chevy Traverse, while "Eddie" cruises around in a silver 5th generation Camaro coupe. So NBC is showing both Ford (Knight Rider) and Chevy some lovin' with new fall shows.

  35. SAMSON, Ala. – Nine people were gunned down in a terrifying rampage across two Alabama counties by a lone shooter who authorities said burned down his mother's home with her inside, killed his own relatives on their porch and shot apparent strangers and police before killing himself. Tuesday's shootings in a mostly rural area near the Florida border were believed to be the work of Michael McLendon, who lived with his mother and had once worked at a local metal plant. The bloodshed began when McLendon burned down his mother's house in Kinston, according to Coffee County Coroner Robert Preachers. Authorities found Lisa McLendon's body inside, but they had not determined…

I'm pretty sure its a network issue (AT&T) but I keep getting text messages. Thats normal, I use about 2000/month, but I keep getting the same messages over and over. It started this afternoon with a co-worker texting me, I got it three times. I thought it odd, and went on. Then it happened again. And again, dozens of times over a couple of hours. Then it got really weird, because now I keep getting the same messages I was getting 5-7 hours ago. One text came with time stamps of 5:20, 5:21 and 5:21 then again at 10:50, 10:50 and 10:51. I have unlimted texting, so if it keeps up, it wont cost me, but its really annoying, since my text alert is, "PC Load Letter,…

  83. Folks, riding on the recent Hummer’s success in the Dakar Rally, I want to take team GM a step further. I have always felt that our pickups are very capable off-roading machines. Just look at those Southern boys lift their pickups to form a formidable off-roader or how the Midwesterners haul the stuff with their four-wheel drives or how the hillbillies like to have mud on their tires of their trucks. As some of you know P-D Rally is where vehicles with steel balls survive, and I definitely think our pickups have more than steel balls. I want us Cheersandgears.com folks to enter two GMT 900 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Duramax Diesels for the Paris-Dakar Rally of 2008. I k…

In the comments section below an article about DaimlerChrysler paying a $40 million CAFE fine, there was this comment that was pretty interesting. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/31/nhtsa-r...ler-takes-cake/ Wasn't there a modified CAFE passed that allowed trucks more leniency than cars (down to 25 mpg)? If so, and Chevy really is at about 27 mpg for its car fleet, that's a lot better than I was thinking. Trucks have a way to go, however. It's also interesting to note how big of a difference the Prius makes on Toyota's lineup; I think CAFE can be done, but no doubt GM needs more hybrid / electric vehicles on the road. I don't see why size needs to be sacrific…

[source: MotorAuthority] Lotus reveals new photos of Evora ahead of June launch Many Celebrities on the Waiting List The wraps first came off the Lotus Evora 2+2 GT back in July 2008 but despite the car looking production-ready Lotus engineers had plenty of fine tuning to complete before the car could finally go on sale. Then, almost nine months later, Lotus finally confirmed the production specifications for the Evora and announced a launch date for this May. That date got bumped to June, but the car is finally on its way - for Europe at least. To ramp up excitement for the launch, Lotus has released a new set of images of the Evora, reve…

My buddy Ray Buck is traveling to Iowa next weekend ... and a bunch of us are going to meet up for a Sunday afternoon gathering: "What started out as me and me darlin bride delivering the Nova and the Camaro to Jim in Waterloo, Iowa has sorta snowballed...and for the time being, we're planning a get-together at the Mississippi River Museum in Dubuque, Ia on Sunday the 18th of September at 1:30 pm til ???? I've contacted the museum and tentatively, we don't think there should be any problems with parking. I'll know more on Monday. I'll also be bringing the "Hello, my name is..." lapel tags. Hope to see ya there, Ray"

man was washed up on a beach after a terrible shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheepdog were washed up with him. After looking around, he realized that they were stranded on a deserted island. After being there awhile, he got into the habit of taking his two animal companions to the beach every evening to watch the sunset. One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle - a perfect night for romance. As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the lonely man. Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it. But the sheepdog, ever protective of the sheep, growled fiercel…

After playing with it for a while, I got it to turn off, then on. All good. I was worried there for a minute... Now I have to get an ipod too....Nano, I think.
