We enjoy posting Craigslist and eBay finds quite often on C&G, yet there is no dedicated place to post them. They simply get lumped into the lounge, and often get lost. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to have a dedicated section just for these sorts of posts. Something like For Sale Finds or something with a better title than that. Just a thought.

  7. Troubles in Europe challenge new Fiat-Chrysler CEO BY GREG GARDNER FREE PRESS BUSINESS WRITER Chrysler expects to report its first substantial monthly sales increase in the United States more than two years Monday, but CEO Sergio Marchionne is shifting attention to Fiat where problems are deepening. The European half of this new alliance is facing change nearly as wrenching as Chrysler’s government-backed bankruptcy. Car sales in Italy are expected to fall about 15% this year because the government stopped paying consumers to replace dilapidated old vehicles. Fiat is separating its car business from Iveco trucks and CNH farming and construction equipment, both of whic…

Behold, The PhUV - Philippine Utility Vehicle MANILA, Philippines — Feast your eyes on the Philippine Utility Vehicle, or PhUV, the latest attempt from this island country's government to create a national car. To be priced at around $7,500, it is cheap, but is it any good? The Philippines is a very small market, and most people can't afford a new car. There are several businesses in the country, especially around the city of Cebu, that specialize in converting used Japanese vans into pickup trucks. Public transportation is partly handled by jeepneys, minibus-like contraptions with fiberglass bodies. Seven-seat closed light commercial vehicles are popular here and all…

IT'S TIME TO STOP AMERICA'S ADDICTION TO FOREIGN OIL America is in a hole and it's getting deeper every day. We import 70% of our oil at a cost of $700 billion a year - four times the annual cost of the Iraq war. I've been an oil man all my life, but this is one emergency we can't drill our way out of. But if we create a new renewable energy network, we can break our addiction to foreign oil. On January 20, 2009, a new President gets sworn in. If we're organized, we can convince Congress to make major changes towards cleaner, cheaper and domestic energy resources. Video article continues at link... http://www.pickensplan.com/

The actual message from them follows: We had notified them of the problem with C&G at 10PM last night (once it was clear there was nothing on our end wrong), and they replied around 12AM saying it would be fixed the next time they made their DNS changes "official" (usually in 2-4 hour cycles). 26. European car market drops for third straight month July 15, 2010 08:16 CET FRANKFURT (Reuters) -- The European car market fell in June for the third straight month as the artificial boost from scrapping schemes across the continent continued to abate, hurting sales for Fiat S.p.A., Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. Registrations of new vehicles in the European Union dropped 6.9 percent to 1.34 million units last month driven mainly by sharp declines in Germany and Italy, according to data published on Thursday by the European industry association ACEA. Hardest hit among major brands was the Fiat marque, heavily dependent on both its domestic Italian market as well…

First from Autoblog: BMW switching to turbocharged M cars After two decades of normally-aspirated high-revving engines shoehorned under the hoods of its M cars, BMW is changing direction and will begin to offer direct-injection turbocharged powerplants in its future high-performance flagships. The German automaker is blaming tough environmental emission standards and the soaring manufacturing costs of the specialty-built V8 and V10 engines found in today's M3, M5, and M6 models for its decision. We also suspect the fact that both Audi and Mercedes-Benz have successfully offered torque-laden forced-induction powerplants for years on their performance models may have s…

What is the problem with letting the debate (which it was, with no personal attacks) go on? Is it because the C&G staff cater to certain people? Is it because the C&G staff lack the.........fortitude to stand up to those that they see as "almeighty" in the "WWW" (no...not WW3). I guess I just dont get why that was locked? Daimler raised a full-year forecast yesterday after second- quarter profit beat analysts’ estimates. BMW this week lifted its 2010 sales and earnings projections. 35. Why Audi, BMW and Mercedes will dominate China's luxury market Automotive News Europe -- October 18, 2010 06:01 CET SHANGHAI -- While dozens of mass-market brands brawl to gain share in China's automotive market, the luxury segment is dominated by just three. Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz control nearly 76 percent of China's luxury car sales, and their market share over the next few years may even grow. Why? First, the German automakers have stretched the wheelbase of their products to satisfy wealthy Chinese customers who prefer to sit in the sp…

In fact both Mercedes-Benz and BMW are keep factories open during their normal Christmas to New Year’s shut down. “2010 was expected to be a tough year all round,” John Lawson, a Londo…

I noticed Walt had been hanging around much less over at Autoblog in recent months and now they're no longer on the front page. Is there something we should know about? If there was a falling out, I'm not entirely surprised. There was a lot of anti-GM articles and bloggers over there that it felt like I was at Autoweek.

  70. Toyota and Honda Hold Back as the Rest of Japan’s Automakers Go Electric THURSDAY, DECEMBER 09, 2010 The electric vehicle market in Japan is now burgeoning. Once the mainstay of small independents building low speed, short range Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs), major manufacturers including Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru are now hopping on the EV train in the hopes of raking in some greenie revenue. With its U.S. launch mere weeks away, Nissan already has 6,000 orders in Japan and a further 20,000 in the United States for its lithium-ion powered Leaf EV. The automaker has so many orders, in fact, that they won’t be taking any more. As you would expect, Nissan …

it's completely underwhelming compared to the CTS Coupe... Officially Official: 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLC Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the 2008 CLC-Class, the Euro-market successor to the now-defunct C-Class Sports Coupe. Well, we should clarify that. It's not completely defunct in that its architecture has been carried over for the new car, meaning the CLC does not share underpinnings with the new-gen C-Class. Still, Mercedes boasts that the car features 1,100 "newly-developed or enhanced" components, including the direct steering system introduced on the freshened SLK. The changes are intended to give the car a different feel than its predecessor. At fi…

  78. Since the site re-launched under Josh there has been no curse filter on the site. That is ok sometimes but come on guys if we want to attract new members we are going to have to act like adults. Case in point: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...st=0&p=156631 to quote: That is not office talk. It is certainly not profesional and would likely make people think less of you in the real world. Most of the forums I frequent, CZ28 and even GMI, keep this to a minimum. Partly because they have curse filtering, which I know people can get around using symbols, and partly because the mods just don't stand for it. I think if C&G wants to really be taken …

  82. German car industry thriving again Weak euro makes sought-after European vehicles affordable Juergen Baetz / Associated Press Berlin -- Germany's car industry, the backbone of Europe's largest economy, is booming again. Fueled by the huge appetite for German luxury cars in China and the fact that the plunging euro has made European products cheaper abroad, manufacturers say they are shaking off the last of the economic downturn, adding extra shifts and hiring more workers to meet increasing demand. Mercedes, Volkswagen, BMW and Audi told the Associated Press this week that order books are full and some plants are operating at full capacity, and that they are bullish …

Multiple users have reported issues with the current skin we are using. I've opened a ticket with the skin's creator and not had any reply. If you are having difficulty with the current skin or it isn't rendering in your browser properly* feel free to scroll to the bottom and change your theme to Haze. This may become the new theme for C&G going forward after I make a few more adjustments. *Almost all problems are being reported when the user is on a Mac and using Safari. If you are one of these users, you will almost certainly want to switch to the Haze theme. Please please please report any issues to me promptly.

Just thought you guys deserved an update, so I'm posting one here. We are finalizing our selection for our new host, and hope to be done with that by tonight or tomorrow. We plan on moving the site to a dedicated server rather than a shared server. For all of those that would like to help with the move, you can donate to [email protected] on PayPal. We are not sure of the costs to move, but if we have extra money, that will go to hosting the site in the future, as well. Perhaps we could buy some spy shots as well, depending on how much the new host costs and how much money we receive. Right now, we do not have enough to make a move, but the Admins/Mods are willin…

  87. NHTSA PROBING 2006 HONDA CR-V, 2007 KIA OPTIMA OVER SAFETY CONCERNS By Drew Johnson The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced it has two separate safety probes involving the Honda CR-V and the Kia Optima. The first investigation, involving the 2006 Honda CR-V, is due to an electrical issue. The NHTSA is investigating complaints that the vehicle’s master power window switch is defective, causing the melting or burning or related electrical wiring components. The NHTSA has only received three complaints about the issue, but all of them have involved a vehicle fire. If a recall is issued, it could include 150,000 2006 CR-V models. In a separate in…

  91. Mahindra brushes back Global Vehicles, "rejects any attempt to order" pickups by Jeff Glucker (RSS feed) on Sep 28th 2010 at 6:20PM The automotive soap opera that is Mahindra keeps on turning. Today, the Indian automaker issued a statement regarding the claims put forth by Global Vehicles. Mahindra accuses GV of "engaging in PR theatrics while pursuing an unnecessary lawsuit."
