Lexus is giving its performance brand a couple new additions in the near future. A source tells Auto Guide that at the recent Lexus USA National Dealer Meeting in Los Angeles, the luxury automaker announced the convertible version of the RC F would be coming in the near future. There was no mention of whether or not the standard RC would be getting a convertible as well, but we wouldn't be surprised if there are plans for it. Lexus also confirmed that the long rumored GS-F would be heading into production in the near future. Toyota notified NHTSA that they would be recalling Tacoma's with 3 or 4 rear leaf spring systems due to them fracturing due to stress or corrosion. If this happened and the truck was continued to be operated, it could move out of position and puncture the fuel tank causing leaks and potential fire. It has been almost three years since our last report on the Lexus GS F. At that time, we reported that the model would use a detuned version of the LF-A's V10 engine with 500+ horsepower. Nothing came of that rumor, but a new one has come across our rumorpile desk. Autocar has learned from sources that GS F is still incoming and will use a tuned version of the 5.0L V8 found the upcoming RC F Coupe producing somewhere in the range of 500 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. One of the rumors that has been floating around for the past year or so was the Scion FR-S (Toyota GT86) possibly getting a hybrid powertrain as a way of boosting power. "I hope to make an engine upgrade at least one time with this car. Hey everyone, Spent the better part of the morning making a step by step guide on how to install aftermarket tail lights on a 1998 through 2005 Lexus GS300 or GS400. I find that Hubpages is the easiest to use compared to e-how or Wikihow so I've posted it here: http://rvinyl.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Install-LED-Tail-Lights-on-a-1998-2005-Lexus-GS300GS400 The install is kind of involved so expect to take at least an hour from prep to clean u but the results will be great. As we saw in pictures leaked back in February, the RX gains the "spindle grille" as seen on the GS and a strip of LED lights running around the headlights. The back end gets some new design tweaks. Inside, the RX is pretty much the same except for a redesigned steering wheel. "The GT 86 was designed from the outset that we can build it as a convertible," said Tada. So what does that mean? Lexus announced pricing for the 2013 Lexus GS350 this week, with pricing starting at $46,900 and the AWD model beginning at $49,450. For a quick refresh, the GS350 uses a 3.5L V6 producing 306 HP and achieves 19 City/28 Highway. So far this week, we’ve seen Toyota and Subaru introduce their versions of a small RWD coupe and now it’s Scion’s turn. At a event last night in Hollywood, CA, Scion showed off the production version FR-S. A couple of days ago, Toyota unveiled pictures of the production Toyota 86 ahead of the Tokyo Auto Show. Today, a bunch of Toyota 86 test drive videos have surfaced. This car will be sold in Japan as the Toyota 86, in Europe as the Toyota GT-86, and in the US as the Scion FRS. Subaru will get a version called the BRZ that will be Subaru's first car offered without AWD in over a decade. A few years ago, rumors began to fly around of a high performance version of the Lexus GS to take on the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E55/E63, and Audi RS6. Power was destined to be a V10 producing somewhere in the range of 500+ HP. Lexus’ HS250h hasn’t been meeting expectations since being introduced back in 2009. Through 2011, Lexus has only sold 2,383 HS250hs, a drop of 72.8% from last year. Because of this, Lexus is showing the HS250h the door and is replacing it with another model. Ward’s Auto is reporting the new model will be positioned towards the younger crowd and not towards people moving on up from a Toyota Prius. Are You The Final Toyota FT-86? Maybe William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com October 27, 2011 Today, pictures of what could be a final version of the Toyota FT-86 were released. The pictures are from a leaked Modellista brochure, which is a in-house tuning arm of Toyota. The car shown looks very close to first FT-86 concept with some added bits from Modellista, including an aero kit and several other accessories. Also, the picture of interior closely matches spy shots of camouflaged FT-86s. We'll find out if this is production version of the FT-86 next month at the Tokyo Motor Show. Source: 7Tune, FT86 Club
