I just picked up this latest issue. Of great interest (to me at least) is a nice big article on the genesis and styling evolution of the 1977 GM fullsizers. This first round of modern GM downsizing was a spectacular success, followed in 1978 by another successful round when the A- and A-Special cars were made smaller. In 1979, the E-body cars were done, another success, imo. After that, things went downhill for GM, imo, as continued downsizing and the wholesale switch to FWD platforms reached a ridiculous fever pitch that GM has never fully recovered from until very recently. My hopes for GM's future have been high for the last few years, but are starting another dow…

I was disappointed (though not surprised) when I read a post by Josh Oliver on camaroz28.com which, referring to C&G, stated, "That website is garbage." Here is a direct link to the topic; scroll down to Josh's post, which is #22. I realize that there's been "bad blood" between Josh and C&G for a long time, but the reason I'm now pointing out his post is that I can't seem to view his own website, thegmsource.com. Is it still active? Lately, Josh has started several topics on camaroz28.com, so perhaps that has become his new outlet.

This was a pretty bad one, Peterbilt 379 vs new Mustang. I've had basic first-responder training, and it happened about 30 seconds before I really arrived on scene but it was still bad. Looks like the Mustang ran the light, or was the last car in the line to turn and thought she could make it, but either way you slice it, 80,000-lb Pete doing 55mph through the green broadside into a new 'stang isn't going to be just a fender patch and move on. GM is a very internally disrupted company at the moment and many programs have questionable futures. I will try to update and correct the information as I discover it and when I have a free moment. Also, I don’t include SAAB in my report, as it is part of GME, not GMNA. Chevrolet: Zeta: Impala (GMX551) development has been suspended indefinitely and development is now totally focused on a front-drive platform that’s larger than the 2008 Malibu. GM could possibly move alot of metal in their pre-owned program with a good lease program. Using a sample from my local dealer here is what I see; 2007 Impala LT 6500 miles for $14,999 (a decent deal for a used Impala) Using KBB and assuming 12,000 miles per year, the same car is worth $8,500 as a trade in (good cond) This is around $180 per month in depreciation. A subvented lease could bring it to $225 per month with no money down. 2007 Cobalt LS 23,400 miles for $9,995 miles (standard going price for such a vehicle) …

It has been crtically acclaimed, and certainly sets a new standard for GM RWD. I will concede that in its present form its shelf life may be shorter than it would have been due to outside factors, but to toss it aside before letting it prove itself in our market is pure stupidity. If CAFE and fuel prices and currency issues pinch it back in the coming years, so be it. But to invite a huge and obvious loss when the product itself is so strong makes no sense. Sports Sedan: Pontiac G8 GTP Luxury Car: '09 Cadillac CTS-V (Coupe when available) Family Vehicle: Cadillac BRX or new Ford Bronco Just for fun: Hummer H4 Truck: GMC Sierra Denali Economy: Chevy Volt Special Mentions: '08 Malibu, HHR SS Oh, and you don't have to name off just GM vehicles, that's just my preference.

This was an official program, right? After all it was assigned a code. Or was it just a design study? Pontiac: *G8 Sportwagon -- Was never officially greenlighted or announced an…

  73. If you were in the market for a crossover or cute-ute, would this vehicle appeal to you? The Honda Edix is available in Japan. It is a 6-seater 5-door hatch, roughly the size of the CR-V except shorter and more of a wagon. It uses a 2.0L or 2.4L K-series engine. I don't know the weight, but it probably weighs a little less and due to the shape likely will get 2-3 mpg better than the CR-V. The middle seat in each row slides backwards 27cm or 17cm to make it more comfortable for the person sitting there. Likely the middle seats will be occupied by children, but when needed (and if you don't mind having your arm up against somebody else's) seating capacity for 6 would be…

Lately my car has been getting great mpg, and ironically I've been driving faster lately. Usually I go about 75 on the interstate, but the last week I've been waking up later and have a 45 minute drive to work, so I go about 80. I just filled up my car tonight and discovered I got 27 mpg! The EPA rates my car at 25 mpg and before I had my head gasket replaced I was getting 22-23 mpg. This is about 85% highway, 15% city driving. I would've assumed I'd be getting worse since I've been speeding more lately, but I'm actually doing better! How does everyone else do on highway MPG?

I got this in an email from one of my brothers. Read on, I thought it was pretty funny... There were two nuns.. One of them was known as Sister Mathematical (SM), and the other one was known as Sister Logical (SL) . It is getting dark and they are still far away from the convent. SM: Have you noticed that a man has been following us for the past thirty-eight and a half minutes? I wonder what he wants. SL: It's logical. He wants to rape us. SM: Oh, no! At this rate he will reach us in 15 minutes at the most! What can we do? SL: The only logical thing to do of course is to walk faster. SM: It's not working. SL: Of course it's not working. The man did…

Just surface repairs are going to be $1500 to $1800. The repair shop is 100% sure there are issues underneath. **Hubcaps not on car, as these are winter tires**

What?! Did you expect a new car or something? Yeah, that's my $20k car. No. Really. It is! Just ask the Cashier at the Kwik-Fill in Clarion! So, the story goes as is. I'm riding around with a few friends and I'm aching for gas. I go to pull into the BP, when my one friend says to go to the Kwik-Fill because they have his favorite gummy fish. So I do. I get out and as soon as I walk inside I hear "Hey, is that a Cutlass or a Grand Prix". I answer. He says "How much? I'll buy it". I let out a little laugh and find the gummy fish my friend wanted. I walk up to pay as he continues to talk about it. He says "That car is worth alot of money, especially sitting on the origina…

Anyone here heard of those designer dogs? You know, where they take a full blooded standard poodle and mix it with a lab or a golden retriever, or take a pug and mix it with a poodle. Did you also know they charge in upwards of $1000 for one of these dogs? That is crazy! They are mutts. While mutts are great dogs and I love them all, breeding dogs is not about money, it is about improving the breeds and freeing the breed from diseases such as canine hip displasia and eye diseases. These designer dog breeders are ripping people off by providing low quality dogs. These are not quality dogs from a health standpoint, and while they will be great dogs during their y…

New exhaust Clear coat Some interior bulbs The brake pads that come with the sensors (some idiot replaced it with cheap pads w/o the sensors on em) Radio display doesn't work....and that's about it. A family friend of ours just got an Enclave before Christmas. He wanted to upgrade the speakers so we tore it apart today and put in new speakers all the way around and a new 4 channel amp. Infinity Kappa Perfect Components and an MTX 4-channel for anyone who knows or cares about audio. Let me first say that everything I took apart was put together VERY well. Better than any vehicle I've done stereo work in fact. Kudos GM. As is the trend, the electronics are more complex than anything else I've worked in, but after a couple hours of rewiring, bypassing the factory amp, and some troubleshooting after that with my buddy who works at a local car audio dealer, we got…

Problem is coming up on the following Monday are the diploma exams for Math and Chemistry both subjects I'm sitting below 80% in and they are worth 50% of my mark (I need to get an above 80 overall average to get into the Business School I want). Just this morning I figured out through calculation that I'll need all weekend as well as until 1am every night till then to be ready for this sucker, and low, while I'm out my mom answers the phone, finds out about …

  87. Automotive News January 14, 2008 - 12:01 am ET Toyota's sprawling Georgetown factory in Kentucky horse country has taken over as the top-producing vehicle assembly plant in North America. For eight consecutive years, that honor went to General Motors' Oshawa car plant in Ontario. Georgetown finished on top in 1998, the year a long GM strike knocked the Canadian operation out of first place. Oshawa No. 1 and No. 2 are in the same building so are counted as a single plant. GM's Oshawa truck assembly is in a separate building and not included. In 2007, Georgetown turned out 514,382 vehicles, up 2.1 percent from 2006. Oshawa produced 470,016 units, a decline of …

As of today, I have DSL. Oh what a wonderful thing it is. Sure, it's not the fastest thing.. but compared to dial up, it's a virtual heaven. I can actually watch videos without the 30 second pauses as it downloads only 3 seconds worth of video. As well, myspace's excessive ads no longer haunt me. Chris's habit of posting overly large pictures of debut vehicle no longer makes me whine about it everytime I chat with him. Downloading music can occur within minutes... instead of hours. Having to wait for my brother to get off the phone will never happen again. And porn... it just got alot more exciting. Also went from cable to satellite today, as well. My dad sort of we…

  91. Hey guys, I just got informed that my parents are car shopping. I guess I should inform you of my parent's vehicle buying habits, the first car I remember them having is a 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon, they bought it brand new and drove it until April of 1997 when they bought their 1997 Buick Century, they kept it till June 2005 when mom got the itch for a truck. So they traded in the Buick and bought a 2005 S-10 crew cab ZR-5. Well its 2008 and dad is wider than he used to be, and mom's knee can't really take climbing in and out of the truck like she used to, so they're hunting for something new. Right now they have their sights set on a Buick LaCrosse, it…

Understand politics a little bit? I don't feel like researching, but I'd like to learn a little more UNBIASED information about politics. Where do Democrats and Republicans usually differ? I know Dems are tree humpers and Reps typically will go to war much quicker than a Dem. I honestly don't know hardly anything about this stuff and I wish I did since I can vote now. I also have to look up the people running.. whose all running to be Dem and to be Rep right now? Isn't it basically between Obama and Clinton right now for Democrats? And I only know of McCain running for Republican... Somebody, please, enlighten me.

I blame the wind. For some reason it's 11AM and the whole lab smells like fried chicken, but nobody knows why, or where the chicken is. Not sure if I can blame the wind for that one. Shaping up to be a strange day. Anybody else experience crazy winds?

This morning I get a call asking for a favor. His Pilot has broken down and could I take him to work. Apparently all the idiot lights came on and he's stuck in limp home mode doing 25mph. Pilot 43,000 miles -limping home with all dash lights lit Avalanche 84,000 miles - oil changes and tires only, taking his ass to work So the day after Thanksgiving, he gets to eat crow. I just hope he likes stuffing with it cause he's gettin that too when I pick him up tonight.

  100. LAS VEGAS - Japanese electronics conglomerate Matsu$h!a Electric Industrial on Monday introduced a 150-inch plasma television, which it says is the world's biggest. The new TV boasts four times better resolution than full high-definition 1080p picture quality and offers a screen the size of nine 50-inch plasma televisions. It was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas by Toshihiro Sakamoto, president of Panasonic AVC Networks. Matsu$h!a's new screen, at 12-1/2 feet when measured diagonally, tops the Panasonic brand maker's 103-inch plasma TV released last year. The 103-inch television has sold 3,000 units over the la…
