Where are some good places to go (especially near the shoreline) around June or so? We're going on vacation here again (second time in 3 or 4 years) and I'm just curious of the places you guys have seen and liked. We stayed in Wilmington, NC last time and that's a great place. We also spent a day on Myrtle Beach, another nice stay.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationw...ack=1&cset=true (need to be registered) When domestic automakers had their backs to the wall 25 years ago, they could count on a "Buy American" sentiment to keep some customers from defecting to fuel-efficient foreign cars. Today, many loyal domestic vehicle owners say they would be comfortable buying an import. Art Spinella, president of CNW Marketing Research, says the confusion over national origin means consumers are less likely to try to help fellow Americans by buying a domestic vehicle. "Basically, they throw their hands in the air and just buy what they like," Spinella said. When CNW surveyed shoppers coming ou…

Just click it, you willnot be dissapointed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SSS-RHD-Blu...8QQcmdZViewItem But c'mon this is cooler than PeeWee Herman with a Mullet. A RHD Japanese market Datsun 510... over there they called it a Nissan Bluebird and this SUPER SPORTS SEDAN (say it with that ridicilous Japanime accent) has the cool double carb setup and the Japanese style mirrors, which are cool by themselves without the standard mirrors. There's only one way this car could get cooler: if it was a hardtop. The rear glass area would not allow it without a Valiant style rear 1/4 window... but it would still be so awsome…

Well I just basicly got finished fixing my car, yes, long and strectched out project of new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, igniton module, and coil. hmmm. a month long project that can all be done in a couple hours. yesterday when I started it up I noted that it was very thoaty and really lound. I thought just a hole in the exhaust. Until I heard a horrible scraping noise leaving from a store parking lot. I ignored it until i pulled in my drive way. Once I get home look under my car and my whole exhaust system is hanging about a 1/2 inch off the ground. Im not only pissed that the exhaust is broke. but im pissed since its origninal and has very very little rust on it. …

Coming home tonight I saw a very strange CTS at a light...white, but the hood and front fenders were flat black, the stock fascia, grille and headlights gone---replaced with a large black flat, thick steel bumper and a bull bar (looked like something from an off-roader). Round headlights and fog lights bolted to the top of the bumper. Black steel wheels. Looked very mean and serious.. I should have done a u-ee and followed it.. it was dark, but it was at a well-lit intersection..... (and I only had one glass of wine with dinner, so I'm not going nutters). Maybe something specially built for the Dept. of Homeland Security (Urban Assault Vehicle).

Remember, he's not Chris Doane. Also, I have sold my brother to some creepy old guy that with a little boy fetish to pay for it... So enjoy him, damnit!

Me and XP715 are driving around at like 10:30PM tonight and we come to a stop sign... we're the third car in line. A 1992-ish Blazer S10 in front of us suddenly slams into the back of the first car in line. Glass shatters & the sound of crunching metal fills the air... both cars pull over. the rear of a 1998ish KIA Sephia comes into view. One tail light is pushed into the trunk... the litle Korean $h!box is probably totalled. Me and Ross give each other the "Oh $h!" look and start laughing our asses off. No one was probally hurt but a purple KIA just got wrecked. THAT's funny. I high-five him and we laugh like hyenas. Then somet…

Okay, here's the deal: Back about 4 years ago, the company I work for had a company-wide (and this is an international firm mind you), mandatory week-end long meetings in Montreal. We were set to fly out on Friday, do all of the weekend bs and fly back on Monday. About the Wednesday previous, a co-worker of mine (Pete) and I were talking while having a morning cup of coffee. I'm not sure how we got on the subject, but Pete mentioned that a buddy of his in college used to pull this prank where he would tape a dildo to his ankle and then head out to a bar. At some point during the evening, when talking to the female gender, he's casually cross his leg and non-chalantl…

Sadly, like a lot of families, mine kind of split in two after my grandparents died. My uncle and aunt got the family farm in the estate settlement. This has been a source of deep friction ever since between my uncle and his sisters (one of which is my mom.) I lived there from 1971 to 1997. When I finally moved out, I left a lot of things where they lay. I haven't been back since. Until today. I called my uncle and asked if I could go visit and take some of my things. He said "sure", so I jumped in the truck and headed south. How can you go home again? Time that has passed came rushing back to shore, to deposit the seashells of my childhood. I picked them up, o…

Everybody has certain songs that mean something to them or are instantly recognizable when they hear them on the radio--even if for the first time in years. What songs defined your childhood and if you have a memory, list it. Early Childhood Lionel Richie - Dancin' on the Ceiling One of my earliest memories is of this song when I was 2 or so. My dad had this CD and would pick me up and tap my feet on the ceiling...I loved it. Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back in Town I used to listen to the classic rock station a lot when I was little, and this was a song I always heard and liked but could never get fully recorded onto tape from my boombox. It would always come on …

Last night I went to bed pretty excited, knowing I'd be getting up somewhat early to go get my GTO. My dad took my brother to school (I had finals this week so no school today) and was at work waiting for us to come pick him up. Anyways, the dealership is about an hour away and we get there at about 9:45. We sign all the papers and whatnot, and then we were looking into extended warranties, and we bought one, but the guy messed up and told us it was 6 days from today when it was actually 6 days from the first sale date. He caught his mistake before he had us sign the pap…

Monochromatic, a form of monochrome, is defined as: Though a form of the word 'chrome' is contained within the word, the word itself does not refer to removing chrome trim from an automobile or exchanging chromed trim pieces for those that are body-colored. That instance is referred to as exchanging chromed trim pieces for those that are body-colored. This is not monochromatic. In fact, it contains many colors. This may be considered to have a monochromatic paint scheme because the exterior paint is only one color, not multi-toned. Thank you.

I came across a few old car commericals in the past few days, and thought I would share it. I was walking to class at 9:50 this morning when this little pug dog with a collar ran by me. On my right side was the Memorial Union building, and on the left across the street was a slope down to Lake LaVerne. The lake was mostly ice covered, but there were sections where the ice had melted. I kept walking but had a bad feeling in my gut because once the dog disappeared beyond the crest of the hill, I didn't see him pop out again further up by the sidewalk. I backtracked across the street and saw a little object splashing in the water about 10 feet from the shore. It was the little dog. So I start hurrying over there to the shore. Just wondering what everyone else here thought regarding current Delta-based cars. The one I feel is the best is, of course, the one that isn't available here. I feel that the Opel Astra received all of the attention due to the demanding European market. Just take the first IONs for an example. It was panned by everyone. Car & Driver called it the "most disappointing all-new American car in over a decade" while they described the Cobalt compared to the ION as "from dead last to head of the class". It just doesn't seem right to me that we're forced to take Grade B or even C products compared to GM Europe's current Grade A products. Chevrolet Cobalt Chevrolet HHR …

It seems that people like to makea big deal out of navigation being available (or not available) on various cars. Put your feelings on what a car in a certain class "should" have aside and answer the question: Do you want a navigation system in your next car? And a bonus question: If you had navigation, would you use it?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-Chevro...1QQcmdZViewItem I'm a little confused. It did not sell for $800,000 so the guy relists it for $1.5 million? I guess if a retarded Hemi-Cuda ragtop is worht $3,000,000 then this is definately worht half that. Gorgeous car. Perhaps in another life I can own a COPO-ZL1 but not this tie around.

Your car, I mean. Don't call the cops on me for child abuse I mean, back in the days with my Cavalier, I noticed the rougher I drive it, the better it runs. At one point, I pamper it all the time, and it constantly gives me random problems. Specifically, I had this intermittent starting problem which the dealer couldn't diagnose. But then I started driving it rough, hard accelerations, quick starts with no warmups, almost to the point that I'm doing donuts with it. But it ran much better and problem-free. But now, since I have the G6, I have mixed feelings. I don't want to rough it up, since it's still fresh off the lot, but I'm afraid I might run into the "problems"…

January 18, 2005 Regular or Premium: choosing the right fuel grade by Jim Kerr Deciding what grade of gasoline to use in your vehicle has been a question asked by many readers. Should I use regular, or is it worth spending more for the premium grade fuel? While premium grade fuel may contain a few more additives, most vehicles will operate fine on regular grades. There are some vehicles out there where premium fuel is specified by the manufacturer. What happens if regular fuel or gasohol is used in these vehicles? Premium fuels have a higher resistance to pinging or detonation in the engine's combustion chamber than regular fuels do. Higher compression ratios, hig…

TEEN DRIVER CRASHES POSE GREATEST THREAT TO OTHER ROAD USERS, ACCORDING TO AAA FOUNDATION ANALYSIS AAA Auto Club South To Focus Advocacy Efforts on Strengthening Florida’s Teen Driver Safety Law TAMPA, FL (January 18) - The majority of people killed in teen driver crashes are people other than the teen drivers themselves, according to a recent analysis of ten years of crash data by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. The new analysis shows that young novice drivers comprise slightly more than one-third of all the fatalities in crashes in which they are involved; whereas nearly two-thirds of those killed are other vehicle users and pedestrians. AAA Auto Club South…

Ok, so I have a Sunbeam toaster. I made some toast with the temperature selection set on "4.5". It was dark brown, but still good. Now the fun part. You know those friends that come up with those "ideas"? Well, I had one at my house today. He suggests to toast bread at selection "7". Do you know what "7" does to bread on this 3823-100 model Sunbeam toaster? It gives you a square charcoal briquette and the scent of burnt popcorn. Now, this just might be me, but I feel that temperature "5" should be "7", or have "5" as the highest setting. Being the pain I am, I sent a statement (not a real complaint) of my opinion regarding this. My most important stateme…

Well now that all the new cars are starting to debut, my photos from the previous season start to become worthless. Heh, oh well. Anyhow I thought Id post some that were never published. I'll have something nice to post once the Nitro debuts. '07 Edge: This Edge prototypes was being loading and this was the last angle I shot. The older guy sees me and says in sort of a long, drawn out, grandfatherly tone "heeeeeeey....he's takin pictures." Then his wife's head pops out of the car. Sort of 2 deer in headlights. I guess it might be a "you had to be there" moment for it to be funny. They didn't seem to care that I was shooting at all....which is always the best kind of…

To release some stress, I sometimes check into C&G during lunch or as I'm cleaning up my office getting ready to go home. Any much more than that would not be cool.

Lately I've gotten into the habit of drinking more and more water. I'm 16, and prior to this year, I rarely drank water at all. I've noticed that I feel healthier overall and have really learned to enjoy it. I drink both bottled and tap water (I don't prefer one over the other), but know people who refuse to drink tap. Personally, I have no problem filling up straight from the sink. Recently I've learned that tap water can actually be better for you than anything out of a bottle. According to some recent studies, bottled water can have more bacteria and less fluoride than regular old tap water. Moreover, bottled water isn't held to the same standards regarding fi…

I enjoy making up words, so there may be further installments, but we'll see how this one goes first. Original word: anachronism--something out of chronological order, that belongs in a different era. Example: Moses wearing a wristwatch in "The Ten Commandments." Enzora-fied word: anachromism--something that is of a color that would not be seen as logical. Example: Automakers choose bright/flashy colors for sporty cars, but due to cost-effectiveness, put it on all other models as well. Which creates...... Bam! Teal minivan! (Special thanks go out to Croc and razoredge for inspiring my thought on the meaning of the word root "chrom.")

No, this isn't a review of the movie and it isn't anything telling you whether to see the movie or not. That's up to you. If you haven't seen it, this probably won't make any sense. This is just my experience I had as a result of watching it. You might find it interesting and you might think I'm nuts. It's kind of long. * * * * * I walked out of the theater on Friday night, my body shaking slightly, eyes wet and my throat aching. I had a profound feeling of sadness and confusion. What the hell was going on? Yes it was a sad movie, but I've seen sad movies before and they're just movies! They're not real! I'm not an emotional person and this was just not the…

Over at the Autoweek Combustion Chamber forum, one of the admins put up a thread warning members not to post pics from Brenda Priddy & Co, but to link to them instead. Some smartass put up a picture of Brenda Priddy and asked something like "OK, but what about pictures of Brenda Priddy herself? It was amusing.

Yup, Borders Books, in the periodicals I was, looking at the car magazines (with my back to the gay magazines) when these two guys, dressed up-to-the-minute, 20-something, walk up to the gay magazine section. One of them pulls up a copy of "Gay Times" and laughs. They both look at the dude on the cover, then laugh again. "Hey, we should send in a subscription for (insert a missing friend's name here). That would be hilarious! We could put his address on it and everything!" They linger there, then move on... I need to ask a question here... what's the fascination? Would they have had as much fun looking at a yoga magazine? A magazine on knitting, rock climbing,…

Colts lose!

I was pretty depressed about the Patriots losing in such an ugly manner yesterday, but the ending of the Colts-Steelers game was absolutely insane... Polamalu's reversed interception, Manning sacked, Bettis's fumble (why the hell didn't they kneel?!), Roethlisberger's game-saving tackle, Vanderjagt's missed FG... what a crazy game. Even though I hate the Steelers, I hate the Colts more and took joy in Manning's frustration and anger. Now I want the Steelers to beat Denver and then lose to Seattle.
