Soon the Suburban will be sold and then soon after that (hopefully) I can sell the V12 Mercedes Benz and I will be ONCE again buying yet another vehicle or two, or three.... depending on how things out of my control turn out. --- So here's a quick recap before I continue: --- I've owned / daily driven almost three dozen GM cars over the past 14 years. Mostly big, V8 powered boats from the 1970s & 1980s, one 1968 Camaro, a few Chevrolet trucks, a couple 1960s classics, and one 1950s land yacht with tail fins big enough for a V2 rocket. Then there's a few demolition derby cars: four FoMoCos, two Mazdas & one Volvo 240 Everyone here probably remembers …

Yup, it's August... the "dog days" of summer. What have you seen out on the roads? This afternoon on the way home from a BBQ at my bro's house, I stopped at his local Chevy/Buick/Pontiac store. Aside from the really cool Stryker Blue '09 G8 GT they had, they also had 3 '09 Delta cars, two Cobalts and a G5... the Pontiac in Silver Green, a color I've been wanting to see for months. I feared there'd be too much blue in it, making it a sort of sickly teal color, but my fears were unfounded, imo. It's a goodlooking color, imo, and dark enough to show off the chrome exterior trim package that's available on Cobalts. For the last few weeks, I've been thinking an '09 Cob…

Well, you can choose to buy one Prius for about $25,000 or ten Tata Nanos for the same price. Which would it be? Pros: Prius: Good gas mileage Prius: You'll have celebrities wanting your car Tata: Prestige 2 cylinder engine Tata: You can have one hell of a good bumper car game Tata: You could say you've got a nice set of Tatas... Cons: Prius: Well, it's a Prius... Prius: Styled like a whale Tata: "What's style? Our engineers didn't know either." Tata: WTF is a Tata? (WHERE'D THE POLL GO?)

I'm sure some of you are aware that from time-to-time GM performance parts develops packages for past models to increase performance legally. The kits meet all federal requirements just as the original equiptment did. Installling them voilates no regulations as they are engineered by the OEM to meet all standards. My idea is that GM (and all OEMs for that matter) should develop retrofit kits of this sort to allow existing cars and trucks to run on alternative fuels. This would further the cause of getting alternative fuel infrastructure up and running by expanding the customer base much faster. The government could help by removing any regulatory roadblocks that migh…

What if small groups in a given locale were to form cooperatives to support small scale ethanol production from local feedstocks? Say, for example, a local car club splits the cost of running a small scale facility with paid staff and the equiptment required to produce enough fuel for all of the members on a non-profit basis? Just a thought. :AH-HA_wink: ...at least for now.

BRRRAAAAP! It's music to the ears of a subset of car nuts. Noisy exhaust setups are hardly a new phenomenon, but the fashion for mufflers that intentionally buzz as much as possible is a more recent development in the pantheon of annoying things others do. Exasperation with the muffler rap has led a New Zealand vigilante to start terrorizing cars equipped with what he or she describes as "boy-racer exhausts" in a written manifesto sent to the Marlborough Express. Using the handle "Phantom Expander," the self-righteous vandal has taken to filling the tailpipes of offending cars with self-expanding foam. So far, the four-hour set time of the foam has been the saving grace…

They looked mighty cozy at an Emmys party in September, but later denied being in a realtionship. Now, “Heroes” stars Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia finally seem to be a real item. And, regardless of the fact that Ventimiglia is technically old enough to be Panettiere’s dad (he’s 30, she’s only 18), Panettiere’s family has given Ventimiglia the thumbs up. “Hayden’s mom adores Milo. She thinks he’s so cute,” a family friend told People. "She tells her friends that he's her boyfriend. She's very proud.” The mag reports that during a December trip to New York City, Ventimiglia hung out with the entire Panettiere family. “He's even met her grandparents. He fits …

Anyone going, from the Jersey or very east PA area, and if so, when? I have 2 packages I'm supposed to deliver, but I'm not feeling it in my bones to drive there & back by myself this year. Last year I slept over in my truck, but I'm not up for that again, either. Anyone willing to take a hitcher along? I don't care what day I go at this point; still waiting on a callback from package #1 guy.

Remember this thread? Something's wrong with my car, and I'm told it may be related to my accident. I went on a trip this weekend to visit family. My driveway's on about a 10-15º incline, and when I sat down, my seat broke - the seat and and the seat back tilted backwards about 30º - as if it were hinged only at the back. When I got to my in-laws, I got a good look, and what happened is this: There's a metal bar that's used to raise and lower the front of the seat via a screw-type mechanism that rotates the bar like an axle. An arm attached to the bar raises and lowers the seat as the bar twists. the female part of this screw-lift equasion had snapped clean off of …

Why don't you do a project car as opposed to buying something "new" for you vehicle with the greater "mechanical" feel...? I always think of you for some reason when I think of this thing. Not usually into lowered trucks but I like this one for some odd reason.... Of course, you could always roll with something more old skool...wid de rims... Or here is an old Hilux truck I saw in a historical neighborhood in Columbus the other day....

Both trucks are made at the same assembly plants and on the same assembly lines for the most part, no matter what model we are talking about. So the only thing that is really different is the badges. Let's get rid of badge engineering once and for all, shall we Mr. Lutz?

For Jeff’s truck, he started out with a moving truck and took 5 feet out of the chassis in front of the rear wheels, and then chopping another 5 feet off the frame behind the rear wheels. Is there anything good in your boss' vision of the new GM? Seriously, where are his "gotta have" products? We've yet to see anything worth talking about. Is it really all about bland, midsize FWD sedans? Surely there must be something.

i think i recall you saying post 55 aint a packard but i saw this on ebay and thought it was interesting if anything. 1958 Packard Station Wagon eh i'd rather have a 60's wagon but it seemed cool just for the fact you dont see any. btw here are also some pics of our old 55 clipper constelation originally an automatic, my great aunt and uncle had trouble with it so they sent some uys from atlanta where they bought it out with a manual and swapped it out. never changed back. it had tinted windows, power windows, and the self leveling ride system. there are a few other neat things but i cant recall them at the moment.
