Sources: Fiat to bring four-door 500 to North America, call it “600″ 05/19/2010, 3:11 PM BY MARK KLEIS Fiat intends to introduce a four-door version of its 500 minicar for the 2011 model year – and if sources at the Italian automaker are correct, the practicality-oriented compact car will make its way to North America, possibly bearing the name of “Fiat 600.” Leftlane first reported in April that inside sources suggested a four-door version of the diminutive 500 might be in the works, and now sources at a French outfit, L’Automobile, are suggesting that the car will in fact be coming to market in 2011 under the 600 (Seicento) moniker. Should Fiat bring a four-door ver…

Fiat to spin off industrial arm to create two core units 04/21/2010, 3:38 PM BY ANDREW GANZ Fiat, one of the last remaining automakers to continue to design and produce industrial equipment like tractors and large trucks, says that it will create a new publicly-held company called Fiat Industrial S.p.A. to isolate its consumer and commercial products. The new Fiat Industrial will be composed of the company’s CNH agricultural equipment, Iveco and FPT brands. Fiat will continue to keep Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Ferrari and Maserati under the Fiat S.p.A. umbrella. Only its tractor and large truck arms will be listed separately under as part of the new Fiat Industrial. Bo…

Filed under: Minivan/Van, Hatchback, Chrysler, Fiat, Rumormill Fiat 500 - Click above for high-res image gallery In a couple of days, Fiat/Chrysler chief exec Sergio Marchionne is anticipated to officially announce plans to bring the Fiat 500 to North America. But if the diminutive hatchback strikes you as too small for American tastes, new reports indicate that a four-door version is in the works. Set to be built at the Fiat factory in Mirafiori, Italy, AutoWeek reports that the four-door 500 - code-named L0 - will be classified as a small minivan in Europe, and arrive on the European market at the end of next year. If and when it comes Stateside, however, it will…

Filed under: Convertible, Fiat, UK Fiat 500C Pink Limited Edition - Click above for high-res image When we saw the Abarth version of the 500C in Geneva, we were suitably impressed at how beefy Fiat's performance division could make one of its most dainty (yes, dainty) products. But like there is no light without darkness and no heat without cold, here is the opposite end of the spectrum: the Fiat 500C Pink Limited Edition. Following on the stiletto heels of the Barbie edition and the fixed-roof 500 Pink that followed, the 500C Pink is exactly what you'd expect: even pinker than that unfortunate Mansory Bentley we saw in Frankfurt. The flip side is that one look at this…

Filed under: Hatchback, Fiat, Design/Style Fiat 500 by Diesel - Click above for high-res image gallery What better place to introduce a new set of duds than at a fashion show? Fiat chose the "Bread & Butter" youth fashion show in Berlin to debut a new color for its Fiat 500 by Diesel. The limited edition Diesel has been available in black and green up until now, with 6,000 of the planned 10,000 units already sold. Those still in the market for a 500 by Diesel can now choose to have their Cinquecento slathered in the newly available "Midnight Indigo" blue, which was specially chosen because it "recalls the denim used to make jeans," according to Fiat. Now, a new b…

Filed under: Frankfurt Motor Show, Performance, Hatchback, Ferrari, Fiat Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari - Click above for high-res image gallery Still waiting for that baby Ferrari to come along? This may be as close as you'll get. Confirming earlier reports, Fiat's Abarth and Ferrari subsidiaries have gotten together to collaborate on a special 500 to honor Maranello. We first heard about a special Ferrari edition 500 last year when we were in Italy test driving the new Alfa MiTo. But while the previous 500 created for Ferrari was used solely as a courtesy car for Ferrari owners bringing in their cars for service, this new Frankfurt-bound special edition will actually b…

Many in the U.S. have been hoping to receive the wildly popular Fiat 500 minicar for the past couple of years but a lack of interest in small cars has largely held it back. Now, with Fiat's alliance with Chrysler in place the Italian auto giant has a gateway to the lucrative U.S. market and the first model to arrive under the new alliance will be the 500, though it’s launch is still 18 months away. The 500 will be sold in Chrysler dealerships and it will be the only Fiat-badged model in the U.S. Read more View the full article

Sporty model and convertible planned; wagon, SUV studied By LUCA CIFERRI | Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | Published 07/24/07, 3:45 pm et TURIN, Italy - Fiat wants to capitalize on its sales leadership in European minicars by turning the new 500 into a full model range. Beyond the known variations - a three-door hatchback now, an Abarth performance model later this year and a convertible next summer - Fiat is considering a three-door station wagon and a four-wheel-drive SUV based on the wagon. Ferrari “Dino” Caught On Dyno Filed Under: Coupes, Super Cars, Ferrari, Maserati, Spy Shots/Renderings, Future Vehicles July 11th, 2007 2:59 PM WINDING ROAD was among the first to bring you news of a “Dino” revival at Ferrari with a cover-story discussion on the mooted mini Maranelloan. Predictably, officials have denied the existence of a “cheap Ferrari” plan, but doing so was probably a smokescreen of sorts, as anything with a Prancing Horse affixed to the hood is uncomfortable being labeled as “inexpensive,” let alone “cheap.” In any case, a prototype of this future Ferrari appears to have been caught undergoing dyno pulls. The mule seen above employs Maserati Gra…

Turin — On July 4, 1957, in Turin, Fiat presented the Nuova Fiat 500, a real icon of our times, with which Fiat concluded a revival that had begun straight after the Second World War. On July 4, 2007, exactly 50 years later, again in Turin, Fiat will present the new Fiat 500 which will be marketed immediately after the launch. And the new car will conclude an equally important cycle of revival for Fiat Automobiles SpA. Fiat Oltre Unveiled: Hummer Gets a Rival From an Unlikely Source Date posted: 12-01-2005 BOLOGNA, Italy — Ever since Iveco, the commercial vehicle arm of Italian carmaker Fiat, introduced its new LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) military off-roader, the creation of a civil version was an open secret. And now it is official: Fiat unveiled its Oltre concept car at the Bologna Motor Show. The Fiat Group is no stranger to the military off-roader. Back in the early 1950s, Alfa Romeo produced the Matta for the Italian army, while Fiat manufactured the Campagnolo for both civil and military use from 1951 through 1973. The Oltre is huge, especially for a vehicle with…
