Information: http://www.geocities.com/conceptcarcentralusa/sagebrush.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just found this concept online today. I have never seen it in person, unfortuantely. Apparently this made the rounds on the 1991 auto show circuit to highlight the soon-to-be-release/all-new 1992 GMC Yukon 2-door. This isn't in any of the GMC books I have, and I find that disappointing. Has anyone here ever seen this truck before? This and the 1991 GMC Rio Grande concept/showtruck were shown together and shared development and parts.

When you've just completed your bouncing-off-the-rev-limiter, lame-ass drift in your riced (or is that sauerkrauted) BMW, no matter how many extra points you think the judges may award you for it or how cool you think it looks, it is usually a really bad idea to get out of your car while the back tires are still spinning. not for the overly sensitive

Well I just basicly got finished fixing my car, yes, long and strectched out project of new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, igniton module, and coil. hmmm. a month long project that can all be done in a couple hours. yesterday when I started it up I noted that it was very thoaty and really lound. I thought just a hole in the exhaust. Until I heard a horrible scraping noise leaving from a store parking lot. I ignored it until i pulled in my drive way. Once I get home look under my car and my whole exhaust system is hanging about a 1/2 inch off the ground. Im not only pissed that the exhaust is broke. but im pissed since its origninal and has very very little rust on it. …

My girlfriend's 17" Dell flat-panel LCD monitor went out yesterday. Well, not 'out' but darkened almost completely. I think its the inverter or CCFL lamps and I've seen a couple of sites showing how to replace them with a soldering iron. My question is - is this something doable ourselves or what?

I have only one complaint about the Enclave from the looks of it, the metallic trim on the dashboard is misaligned on both models here where it meets with the second half of the dash trim under the clock....otherwise these are stunning...I alos saw one in person for the first time tonight, a CX with ebony cloth interior...and the dash trim had the same problem in this model in person....hope it gets fixed soon. I wasn't quite sure at first with the new vocalist, but after hearing him I think he's a good fit to follow in the footsteps of the late Layne Staley. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/student+allegedly+takes+Calgary+school+secretary+hostage+Olympian+addresses+students/2642833/story.html This has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I mean I'm glad everyone is safe and all but, sheesh, someone was off his meds today. Take someone hostage at knifepoint over an athletic injury sustained in likely the eighth or ninth grade and then wait all these years... storm back into the school and take a secretary hostage... and then let her go in exchange for a bottle of water? Just goes to show that no matter what some Canadians say, America does not have a monopoly on dementia.

Linkity Saleen S5S Raptor Concept By David Gluckman After teasing us with a concept sketch last month, Saleen has officially unveiled the S5S Raptor concept in New York. We now know that the Saleen 5.0-liter supercharged engine (from whence comes the car's alphanumerics) is a version of the company's tuned Ford V-8 block. Unlike the Mustang creations that Saleen is most famous for, the two-seat car has been designed and styled from the ground up with a mid-engine layout. The chassis is all-aluminum and is wrapped in a composite skin. The Raptor's V-8 runs on E85 ethanol which allows it to produce more power than the similar po…

Heading home after going to a wake for my friend's grandfather, I'm in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway, slowing down for a red light. Noone's in front of me, and cars are on either side of me. Just as I'm about to pass a white GMC cable truck that's on my right, said cable truck juts out into my lane. I can't do anything but jam on the brake pedal and hope for the best. I nail him in the tire, and he takes out my front bumper, scrapes my fender and headlight, and knocks out assorted plastic parts that I can't identify right now because I'm so pissed. The driver is very clearly out of it, either via alcohol or pot or something. The cop gets there and doesn't pay any mi…

Alcantara for More People Chrysler, Cadillac and Mercury will start offering suede-like Alcantara leather in certain sports edition models next year. Alcantara is best known for its use in performance cars like the BMW M3 because it holds drivers in their seats better than standard leather. It’s easy for us to guess that Chrysler’s SRT models and Cadillac’s V series will see Alcantara, but we’re mystified at which Mercury interior will get such treatment. Perhaps it will be one of its SUVs, like the Mountaineer. That seems like a bit of a waste to us. Read "Big Three Going With Luxury Alcantara Fabric in 2007" @ Kicking Tires

So since there is not much auto news going on lets do something fun besides arguing why brand X is better than brand Y Since the economy is tanking and hard times are coming for everyone, lets do the dream car garage on the budget. Here are the rules: Choose five cars/trucks you will spend up to $20k. Which means each car/truck should not cost over $20k. Give up to 5 choices and say which one, out of the five you would choose now with your own money.

What does everyone else here think about this? In size, the 300C SRT-8 is closer to the STS-V than CTS-V, and the the Chrysler, the Cadillac is automatic only. Since the STS/STS-V seem to have been losing when compared to the European and Asian nameplates is some of these comparison tests we've seen, how would the Cadillac fair against the Chrysler? The Cadillac has more horsepower, an additional gear in the automatic, and such. So I'm waiting for this sort of comparison test. One of the pitfalls for the STS-V against the 300C SRT-8 would be its umm, rather significantly higher price. I just wonder why no one (to my knowlege, at least) has compared these tw…

Currently I bike about 10 miles everyday. I park my car, ride to school, school to work, work to car. It doesn't always work out like that, depends on what I have to do and when I have to do it. So, in order to get a more consistent workout, I'm going to start getting up earlier and jogging in the morning. Its getting too chilly to kayak, which sucks. I'm thinking about springing the $4/week to get into the company gym, haven't decided if I'd actually use it or not.

Date posted: 07-29-2006 WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Chrysler Group is recalling 146,195 Jeep Grand Cherokees because cooling-fan blades may break and cause injuries to bystanders if the hood of the vehicle is open. At the same time, Toyota will recall more than 9400 early-model 2007 FJ Cruisers because of potential tire defects. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the automaker collected nearly 200 complaints about broken fans. All I get is the little Quicktime symbol...the little film real clip with a 'Q' in the center. I'm certain this is a simple adjustment needed to my computer settings, but I have no idea. I checked my internet settings and don't see anything listed for Quicktime, but all but 1 item was checked off under multimedia. The wierd thing is I have been able to watch other Quicktime movies on this computer. Why does it seem to hang up on the GMC and Buick?

Went to an autox test & tune day yesterday. I made 2 runs, Em (my wife) made 2 runs, and I made one more run. LOVE the new tires! (Khumo Ecsta XS) Of course, when comparing to the all-seasons I was on last year, it doesn't take much to be impressed. Anyway, on this run, the new tires let me keep my speed up very well. So well, that I ran right past redline in 2nd gear. An odd sound was followed by some power loss, and I thought I could hear the engine "chugging" as I finished the run. Parked it & let it cool down quite a bit, started it up & couldn't hear anything odd. Made one more run, and it definitely had power loss, and I could hear the chugging by the e…

Didn't want to steal GMPartsGirl's thread so I figured I would start a new thread to discuss this. My better half wants me to get a motorcycle to drive back and forth to work on decent days. Now, understand that I have never ridden a motorcycle in my life and am now 40. Tammy's reasoning is that it will save on gas money. This is true but it would take a while to save enough to pay off the bike in the first place. I would be looking at a used motorcycle, one without too much power, since I am a novice. My brother (who does ride) suggests that I limit it to about 500cc and buy something that I wouldn't be too upset if I laid it down. I have seen a couple that would…

This is the car I found for my dad. I am really wanting to get this car as a present for Father's day/his birthday. I have the money but it just depends if he wants it. We will have to go get it and tow it back. It is only $1100 and needs emergency brake cables to be certified. The only other thing needed is bodywork to be done. There is some rust. The vinyl top and interiors are mint and all the chrome is as well. Plus it is a hardtop coupe. Here it is 1976 Dodge Royal Monaco hardtop. It would make a good restoration.

I was reminded yesterday of an idea I had a while ago, and thought I'd share. This does go in the far-fetched idea category, but I kinda like it, so here it is. A while back, I was thinking about what Cadillac in particular could do to differentiate itself in the luxury brands, and it occurred to me to start pondering... What is the greatest luxury? Leather? A nice audio system? Powerful engine? Navigation systems and other gadgets? Nah. SERVICE! Think about it - what is more the picture of luxury: a guy with a fridge by his hot tub, or a guy with someone who will go get him a drink or whatever he asks (maid, butler, etc). I am right now in Mount Clemens, MI helping my fiance get situated in her new condo. Today while driving around we noticed a maroon colored 65 Mustang with double barrel 289 V-8 and looked in a decently good condition. The vehicle did not have any noticable physical damage and the interior with beige leather which the owner said is reworked looked pretty decent. The owner is asking about $6500. My fiance always liked owning old cars and she feels like wanting it. Since I am poor in judging old cars other than Corvettes, it will be greatful for all of you guys put your two cents or dollar or $6500 in it.

http://www.youtube.com/embed/uo0dpeQqXUg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen> Yes, you read that correctly. The BBC's globally approved automotive entertainment program Top Gear will not be making a return in 2012. Word came from Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson himself, saying on a South African radio show last week that the Top Gear Festival 2012 would "be the only time" when he and other presenters Richard Hammond and James May would be working together this year. Clarkson would later confirm the news on his Twitter account, adding that Top Gear would return in January 2013 and a full Christmas special would debut before then. So, why has the BBC pushed on…

Anybody ever heard of this before? I stumbled across this today and it sounds pretty cool...I wish GM would have produced it. The Lumina Z50 idea was born in 1988 and was a Chevy Lumina with a 305 V8, AWD, and a five speed transmission. It would have had 285 hp and 280 lb ft of torque.

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=8312724 BANGALORE (Reuters) - A U.S. federal court's ruling in a patent infringement case could threaten sales of Microsoft Corp's popular word processing application. microsoft (ABC News Photo Illustration) A Texas district court on Tuesday ruled in favor of Canadian software firm i4i Ltd and filed an injunction preventing Microsoft from selling the 2003 and 2007 versions of Word. The patent relates to XML, or extensible markup language, which is used to manipulate a document's content and architecture separately. Apart from Microsoft's Word, XML is used by other word processing applications such as OpenOffice. Th…

I adore this car. I will always be an Oldsmobile man even if I'm driving Fords these days. The fact that GM built cars like this will always have me looking at what they have in their showrooms even though I've been broadening my car horizons recently.

OK, this analogy popped on the top of my mind for some reason: Chevrolet -> A jug of water. Two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen. The necessities of everyone. Pontiac -> A nice bottle of beer, chilled to the right temperature. What GM is basically doing, by giving Pontiac rebadge Chevys, GM is pouring water into beer. It's like... who wants to drink diluted beer? Beer has H2O naturally in it (platform sharing), but don't pour it in directly! :alcoholic: :P And here's another one: Toyota -> A bottle of methanol wine. At the moment you're drinking it, it tastes just like wine, but eventually it'll make you blind and kill you.

OK, you are all probably going to think my whole family is crazy including me but...here's my situation. I got a fullride scholarship to my fallback school which as you can see is the University of Wyoming. In order to get me to accept it, my parents bought me a christmas gift certificate from my local GM dealer for 15,000 dollars, and said they could make payments on top of that. The catch is I HAVE to go to UW. Where as if I settle for a 2004 Alero Coupe, they will not pressure me to go to UW because the can get a LOT better deal on it... I only have until friday to use the certificate though...if I don't Emil refunds their money, and I get NO new car...every…

I won't say I never do it. Sometimes my "soft spot" gets affected and I will throw the remaining change or that rare dollar bill into the jar when I go up to the counter at a Starbucks or a pizza place. Tips are for table service. Until the last 5 or 10 years, I rarely saw tip jars at places where you walk up to get your coffee, tea, sandwich or pizza. Now they are everywhere. I don't really dig it and, if you use a credit card, there's that space for a tip that you either fill in or zero out in front of them. Talk about being put on the spot. I will only drop in money 10 % to 20 % of the time. That is if they are genuinely friendly and attentive or if they were…

So, as most of you know, I have a best friend named Ray. Here's what I knew about him for the last 18-20 months until yesterday: 19 years old, black child living in a less black-than-white metro-Detroit community, grew up in Laguna Beach until he was 8, his dad died when Ray was 8, mom died when he was 12, and he's lived in MI since being 8 with his grandfather because of financial reasons. Well, yesterday at my graduation party, I asked Darren something (Ray's brother; I don't remember what I had asked) and he was confused. Now, this was something he would've known, but didn't. So I asked on: Your mom is alive? "Yes," was his answer.. with a questioned look on his face…

My black '98 Taurus SHO from GT4. I call her 'I'D HIT THAT!' Actually, its very 'go'-ish with 338hp now. Its definitely the queen of my 5-car fleet (including an '81 Civic hatch and a woeful 178hp Mazda6). I don't play all the time, but when I do have time, its fun.

Flying out of Fargo on Friday and going to hopefully make it for the tail end of SEMA. I have a buddy who works for a company up here in North Dakota that mainly sells Semi Trailer and Farm equipment covers. They also sell ATV and Pickup snow plows as well as pickup truck bed covers. As long as I don't get delayed I should be able to make it for the last couple of hours. We are staying for the weekend to drink a few as well Anyone else going to make it down? Bryce
