Hey...there is this guy I work with that I HATE. He needs to retire. He spends waaaaaaaaayyyy too much time looking at what I do...and I don't mean work-wise. I mentioned that I had to do something (personal) in a couple of weeks. He then says that he noticed it on my Outlook. My point and shoot Canon SD850IS camera does not start. It initially had problems focusing (as BV and DF noted when I took some pictures of my cars). Now it does not even turn on charge even with the battery fully charged. I tried various things like plugging to the computer and trying to start, using spare battery, etc. with no avail. Do you know any place which will fix it and how much do you think it is to fix? I like the camera for the simple facts that it was handy, had a view finder along with the screen and had great image quality - something which was must for me while taking pictures in the field. so about 3 1/2 years ago i moved into my grandpa's house. everything is cool cept there was a 20" tv where i was used to a 50" at the parents'. saved up some money and went to sears ( to score a siblings discount ) and brought home a toshiba 52" DLP. well for every year i have owned it now i have replaced a bulb... which is costly... Toshiba asks $250 for theirs while i found a different manufacturer for $130. well the first was replaced for free under a recall notice, the next one i bought out of pocket for the $130. the toshiba replacement lasted nearly a year and a half, the $130 for maybe 8 months... you get what you pay for i guess. i kept the bulb off the bright set…

We've never had a toaster oven and I didn't feel like I was missing much. However teh place I work at has a B&D Toast-R-Oven (must be a few years old) that I use every day since I began work. Love being able to reheat pizza, toast a sandwich etc. VS a microwave. I like their oven because in addition to temp settings, a timer, and toast darkness dials, there's a button to press for toasting, and it shuts off as soon as you open the door. So now I want one. I'm about 60% sure I want to sell it... a lot of factors are working this thought process, but the main issue is the fact I really do want to drive a new vehicle on an everyday basis. Of course I have to see what is out there that I want AND can afford. Once I know the answer to that question then I will ponder if I can keep the Fleetwood as a "toy". This was hands down the most amazing show I have ever been to. I've seen MetallicA 3 times now and this was by far their best appearance. I have NEVER before witnessed a band so tight as this one. Death Magnetic has really breathed new life into this establishment. Everything was amazing... the power supply gave out on my computer this weekend so its been dead since thursday. It was interesting to see just how much time i use the computer when i didnt have one at my disposal. so now $64 lighter i am back. i couldnt believe there was only a 350 watt supply in this thing. pushing a 450 now and i suppose soon i shall break down and build a new one come spring. well, at least the power supply is one less thing on the parts list....

So, it's been a week or so since I washed the Balt. So today it went to the car wash. While drying it, I noticed something: It's bubbling up rust at the bottom of the driver's side door! Well I finally decided to get myself a new pair of shoes. The cheap ones from, I think Target that were bought for me as a gift barely lasted a year. I've never owned a pair of shoes where the bottom of the shoe wore down to the point where a hold developed on one shoe. I could feel the damn ground under me. Sucked real hard when it rained. It starts tomorrow and runs thru Sunday......10-15 to 10-18. Anaheim Convention Center. I'll be there tomorrow evening......Thursday..... My car has always had a small whine coming from the power steering which I had read was pretty normal with LS's and 90s-early 00s Fords in general, but the last couple days with the weather getting colder the faint whine has become a loud squeal and it sounds terrible. I have to go home this weekend which is a 500 mile round trip, so I'm thinking I probably don't want to risk the power steering pump going out on me with that many miles ahead. No matter what cars are in my fleet, I always want to drive the most recent acquisition the most. Since the Blazer hit the road, the wagon has been sleeping in the barn and the Silverado has done quite a bit of driveway sitting. It has close to four times the mileage of the truck and the wagon is still a "freshly done" project, yet I choose to drive this old soldier most often these days. I'm sure the manual trans. has something to do with it.

I have a KitchenAid dishwasher that came with the house, and it appears to be a real oldie, with big ol' chrome pushbutton controls. When I set it, it heats the water for a little while, then doesn't wash. I thought it was out of sync somehow, but I have not been able to resynchronize it (happened a couple of years ago and I was able to get it work properly then). Quickly- have to switch to a new carrier and get new phones despite having decent plan and phones i am ok with. Looking at Verizon, AT&T. Or Net10 or Tracfone prepaid. due to cost. Camino and I floated the idea of a C&G-sponsored meet at the All-GM Nationals show in Carlisle, PA a couple of years ago that never got out of the planning stages. That idea, at least with me, is still on the back burner and I may try to do something for the 2010 show. But moving on... The AACA Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania is a great place to visit and the GM Futurliner will be on display there starting mid-October and lasting until early Spring. Seeing as how the winter weather in the northeast prohibits car shows from happening, maybe a C&G meet at the AACA Museum would be a good way for some C&G members to meet, take a tour of the museum, have lunch…

Okay, I've had the '96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham for a little over a month now and other than giving it a quick washing it once, I haven't done much to it - though it needs some TLC and soon. The black sierra grain leather is in pretty good shape for it's age, though it is dry and hard. So, who's headed out to Hershey, PA this week for the annual AACA Fall Meet? The GM Futurliner will be there again - second time now (October '07 was its first visit to the show), and you are allowed to climb the stairs and sit int he driver's cockpit. This is a milestone year for me - my dad took me 20 years ago (1989) as a young and naive 14 year old first-timer, and I've been hooked ever since. And to celebrate this milestone I am taking my 4 year old son Justin with me this year - my 20th will be his 1st, and hopefully we can make this a father-son tradition for many, many years to come. Last Saturday for lunch I went and checked out a new sushi restaurant in town. I like my sushi spicy, so when I spotted a three-roll spicy combo on the menu, I knew what I wanted. Except... one of the rolls was octopus, and I am scared of octopus. Tuna and salmon are lovely though. I asked the lady if I could substitute an extra salmon roll for the octopus. She said, in a heavy accent, "no substitution". I reluctantly said "OK", and she went up to the bar and turned in my order. Two minutes later she came back to my table and said "sorry, we out of octopus, is OK two tuna roll?" WTF?

I don't usually put change in my pocket before I leave the house. This morning, a penny came out in the wash, so I put it in my shorts before going grocery shopping. As I waited in the self-checkout, I counted my money. Exactly $61.01 in my pocket. Imagine my shock and delight when my bill came to... $61.01!!!!! How often does this happen? Last Ocotber I posted a picture of a trailer that puzzled me when I saw it at a truck show and asked here if anyone knew what it was used for. So come January-February we're aiming to have added another car to the fleet, looking to spend no more than 23995$ (CDN), as a Used CPO Fleet or Demo vehicle with no more than 25000km (15k miles). If you’ve read today’s newspapers you’re probably aware that James May has had a spot of bother with an airship. The good news is that our brave hero has emerged from the slightly scratched wreckage UNHARMED. After PLUMMETING to the ground at a MASSIVE two miles an hour, May’s craft SLAMMED into a small bush and then just sort of STOPPED. Thankfully, trained rescue staff were on the scene in seconds to intercept James as he stepped out of the airship and were able to administer a much needed flask of TEA and some NICE BISCUITS. May has since returned home for a SIT DOWN and some light piano practise, after which he is reported to be “very well, thank you for asking”…

Um OK I had a customer come in this afternoon with a Sable, saying someone backed into him in a parking lot. He needed an estimate. He said the hood wouldn't open. I was expecting a need to call for a rental car by his initial description. When I got out there, there was a tiny spot of black rubber residue on his right side fender from the Toyota SUV's tire that backed into him, no dent. I couldn't think of a reason why the hood would be affected from such miniscule contact, so I stood at the hood and asked the customer to pull the release while I pulled out every trick I could think of to persuade the hood to open. I think this might be my first "yes/no" poll. I like to put the window down, when going over a narrow bridge or driving in a narrow drive between 2 buildings, so I can hear the echo of my engine's sound. I got into this by listening to the awesome sound of a small-block Olds Rocket V8. As for my current car(s), I have to admit that the Regal sounds really hushed for its high mileage. Do you make it a point to listen to your engine's sounds echoing back at you?

I'm just too indecisive when it comes to sorting out the photos to pick out the best and bring it down to a decent sized set. Multiple pics of a single scene will do that. Yep, it's that time. I've been busy the last few days, getting the cars ready for the winter. Yesterday, I changed the ATF in the wife's car. Drives like new! Also did the oil change, and rotated her tires. Besides a good cleaning inside and out, her car is ready for winter. This week, it's the Cobalt's turn. I'm debating about changing the ATF too. I'm thinking that it will be at least a few more years before GM builds anything that I just can't resist. So, after I clear the decks and unload my current fleet of projects, I'm guessing that I'll go after at least one more "fun" car of recent vintage before a new one is likely. The thing is, I have no idea what it will be. I'm not talking about a classic or project car - just something fairly new and low-mileage that I will enjoy driving when I don't have to drive the truck. Another GTO might work, but I'm not married to that idea. So what do you think would make me grin from the used market in about a year and a half from now?

I've mentioned this before, but I recently moved to Washington DC to start work. Today I decided to go to the Pentagon City Fashion Centre, which is a gigantic mall next to the Pentagon (duh). As I was about to turn into the parking garage, I noticed a black sign propped up in the median saying "Cadillac Event" with an arrow pointing straight. Obviously, I had to check out what it was. I drove to the other side of the block to discover 3 big Cadillac tents and a bunch of SRXs and competing cars parked on the side of the road. Piggybacking on ocnblu's sequential turn signal thread, while searching for some videos on that topic I came across the video link I posted above. It's a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am Coupe done up in "Knightrider KITT" style but plussed even further. I think the owner did an awesome job and I really like the end result. At the end of the video he shows the LED underbody lighting feature and call me crazy, but I think that's something that police cars could benefit from having. Enjoy!!

Since I started working I've been trying to get to bed a decent time so I can get 7-8 hours of sleep, be up at 6:30 so I can be well rested and ready for work at 8. That means going to bed at 10 or 11. Well it's 12:38am right now so you can see where this is going. Last week I did pretty well. However by nature I'm a night owl, and unfortunately I haven't been able to get to sleep this week until 1 or 2am. Well it finally caught with me and I fell asleep as soon as I got him untl 10:30. So Now I've had about 6 hours of sleep and I'm awake again. meh... What are your sleeping habits like?

As a kid, my parents had a 1993 Mercury Villager. We owned it for about four years until we bought our Windstar. It had a fairly stylish exterior with a jade green and gray two-tone paint job, but I have so many bad memories of long trips stuck inside that van.
