I have heard of a few disgruntled customers of the Dodge Ram. Locally too. What's up with this truck? Fantastic looks, but seems to have problems. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...388/1148/AUTO01 Wednesday, August 30, 2006 Lemon delivery for Dr. Z Josee Valcourt / The Detroit News Forget about AskDr.Z.com. William Bailey took his beef with Chrysler straight to the automaker when he drove his 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck from his Blountsville, Ala., home to DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group's headquarters in Auburn Hills. Bailey mounted a "Dodge Lemon Made" sign on his truck -- which he uses for work to haul trailers -- and circled on public roads…

I heard from someone today that the Chrysler dealers that are being shut down have to have their inventory gone by June 9th, and thus are offering 30-40% off MSRP on cars and 40-50% off MSRP on trucks and SUVs. Has anyone else heard this or have the ability to confirm it? Not that I'm going to be buying anything anyways most likely, but I do know a couple people possibly looking for a new car.

Give It Away, Now: Chrysler's Crazy Lease Deals Chrysler's going to give people cavities and diabetes if they sweeten their deals any more. DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group is leasing 2006 model year vehicles at a drastically higher rate than crosstown rivals General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. as it works to unload a glut of new cars and trucks. Lease deals can help automakers boost sales because they typically offer lower monthly payments. Dealers say Chrysler is making lease deals on 2006 models even more attractive by lowering lease interest rates, relaxing credit requirements and raising vehicles' residual values. It's good news for car buyers who can l…

Does anyone around here know what the lug design (aside from 5-lug, I know that) and measurements of the Mk 1 Clouds is compared with that of the Mk 2 LH's and Mk 3 minivans? Supposing I get the money and (want to spend it on such a thing) decide an upgrade to the wheels/tires of my Breeze, I was wondering if Chrysler's "Genesis II" aluminum wheels would fit the Breeze. These wheels were used on some SE Intrepids, and Sport, LE, ES, ES AWD (1999-2000 ES) minivans. I especially like their appearance, and they are 16" in diameter, so they aren't anything outrageously big. What they look like: And look slightly similar to:

Will Chrysler Restructure as Well? DaimlerChrysler Chairman Dieter Zetsche said Tuesday that the automaker will cut output by 90,000 vehicles in the third quarter -- up from previous estimates of about 75,000 -- and another 45,000 in the fourth quarter to bring dealer inventories more in line with consumer demand and make room in showrooms for new models that will roll out later this year. Zetsche also said the Auburn Hills-based automaker may have to take more drastic cost-cutting measures in the wake of last week's announcement that Chrysler will lose $1.5 billion in the third quarter, more than double its July estimate of $600 million in red ink, and report a loss …

LaSorda Recognizes Crap Chrysler Group Ads During a meeting with Detroit-area dealers, Tom LaSorda, Chrysler group's CEO, expressed his displeasure with the current advertising route employed by the Detroit firm BBDO. He specifically singled out the ad where a stranded motorist enlists the help of a Nitro driver to jump his car. You've seen the rest, so we're not going to bore you with a description. Autoblog --- The Nitro ads are bad. Anybody see the "That's bold/stupid/whatever, That's Nitro" ads? To hell with truth in advertising; how about making sense in advertising?

The first day of 2014 brings some good news to Fiat. The company announced that it and the UAW's VEBA Trust have reached a deal to purchase the remaining 41.46 percent stake of Chrysler. The terms of deal will see Fiat paying the VEBA trust a total of $4.35 billion. $3.65 billion of that will go towards the remaining stake. Also, Fiat will pay the trust $700 million annually over the course of the next four years. “In the life of every major organization and its people, there are defining moments that go down in the history books. For Fiat and Chrysler, the agreement just reached with the VEBA is clearly one of those moments,” said Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne. …

So i was browsing ebay and came across some nice Charger R/T wheels for reasonable prices (and a lot less than the V10's)...but will they fit? I don't know much about wheels sizes, widths, if RWD VS FWD configuration matters and whatnot..all of our cars have stock wheels and/or hubcaps...any help? Also..this may sound stupid and pardon my ignorance but does the bolt pattern need to match perfectly? (5 x 115mm (Charger) verses 5 x 4 1/2" (Intrepid), etc.)?

Automotive News - Chrysler group dealers and their lawyers are girding for a fight over the company's threat to yank the franchises of 173 dealerships because of poor sales. A letter this month by J.W. Dimond, Chrysler's national dealer placement manager, said dealers could lose their franchises if they do not meet their "minimum sales responsibility" within 180 days. Most state franchise laws require automakers to give dealers 180 days to correct performance issues before franchises can be terminated. The minimum sales responsibility is a monthly sales target that Chrysler sets for each dealership. Chrysler uses several factors, such as area population and the proximi…

Chrysler to Unveil Record Number of New Models in 2006 Date Posted 08-17-2005 AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — In his first major press briefing, Chrysler Group's incoming CEO, Tom LaSorda, said the automaker will continue its momentum with the rollout of "at least" 10 completely new models in 2006. LaSorda, who takes over January 1, 2006 when current CEO Dieter Zetsche returns to Germany to become chief executive of DaimlerChrysler AG, said next year's new-model launches will surpass the record set in 2004. "That's at least 10 completely new models, not refreshed ones," he told Inside Line and other media representatives, though he wouldn't c…

Next month, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will be holding a public hearing to probe Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' handling of 20 different recalls covering 11 million vehicles since 2013. The agency is concerned about the completion rates and other issues on these recalls. But FCA believes this hearing should be skipped. In a 19-page response to questions from NHTSA that was released yesterday, the company argues that its overall recall completion rate is "nearly the best in the industry, with 77 percent. The response goes onto state that they are compliant with existing regulations and are in the process of implementing new programs to impro…

Chrysler to Show Dealers Three EVs with Production in Mind Posted Sep 3rd 2008 12:31PM AutoBlog Link to Article Link to Gallery While everyone is aware of what GM, Honda and Toyota have been up to when it comes to fuel-saving technology, Chrysler has been playing it close to the chest. The Auburn Hills-based automaker, however, will show its dealers three new all-electric cars at the end of this month that are said to be production capable. After 9 years, Chrysler restores pentastar logo The Chrysler pentastar is back with a new look. Chrysler dusted the star off after nine years in mothballs during the automaker's marriage to Germany's Daimler-Benz. The symbol represents 85 years of Chrysler history and returns as the automaker embarks on a new chapter. The updated version encloses the five-pointed star. It will be used as a corporate logo but not in product ads or at dealerships.

On Friday, we brought you the news that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles would be pulling Chrysler and Dodge from South Africa. "This unfortunate situation has arisen from our principals in the USA no longer building Chrysler or Dodge vehicles in Right Hand Drive configuration," the company told Wheels24. Latino rights promoter and famous over acter Ricardo Montalban playing along with Chrysler's not-from-Corinth Corinthian leather. If you think this is just some funny random old car ad, it had a serious, lasting effect on people. Baby Boomers loved the commercial and clearly bought the message. I feel we can learn much from the history of some amazing commercials and what might just be missing from getting people back into transportation. Quality is there, excitement is there, now we just need to find the right message to click for people driving again.

The end is coming for Fiat Chrysler Automobile's CEO Sergio Marchionne. In a interview with Bloomberg, Marchionne says he will step down in 2018, the same time that his second five year plan will end. “I’ll undoubtedly do something else” after the end of 2018, said Marchionne. "I am not going to do any more turnarounds. I’m done; let some of the young punks do it.” Marchionne, 62, became the CEO of Fiat in 2004 and helped triple the automaker's revenue over the subsequent years. He was also a key person in the company's acquisition of Chrysler. There is no mention of who will be successor to Marchionne. But the current CEO does mention his role may be split among a num…

As we learned this morning from Bob Nardelli's appearance on CNBC, Chrysler LLC is getting into the electric vehicle game and plans to have something on the market by the end of 2010 – the same time GM plans to start selling the 2011 Chevy Volt. The vehicle in question will be one of these three EVs, all of which are powered fully or in part by electrons. The first and perhaps most exciting is the Dodge EV, which is an all-electric sports car like the Tesla Roadster. In fact, Chrysler seems to have taken a few pages from Tesla's playbook, which is evident by the fact that its EV is wearing the body of a Lotus Europa at the moment. Lotus also worked with Tesla on the dev…

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is facing an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission over their sales reporting practices. Bloomberg learned about the investigation from two sources this morning and since then, FCA has confirmed it. This investigation stems from lawsuits filed earlier this year by dealers in Florida and Illinois saying the automaker inflated sales numbers by having them file false 'New Vehicle Delivery Reports'. At the time, FCA denied the charges made and is seeking dismissal of the suit. But as Automotive News notes, FCA added a disclaimer to their sales reports in April about how sales are reported. “FC…

Reuters Story DETROIT (Reuters) - Chrysler LLC has drawn interest from international and North American parties for the possible sale of its high-performance Dodge Viper sports car line, Vice Chairman and President Jim Press told reporters on Wednesday. Chrysler in late August announced it was exploring the sale of the Viper sports car business as part of its effort to generate cash and ride out the deepening U.S. auto industry downturn. The Viper is a low-volume V10-powered sports car first produced in 1992. "We have been approached by outside individuals who want to work with us to buy the asset and sustain Viper going forward," Press told reporters after an Au…

Just got back from a Florida Vacation & had to write down some observations on my rental. This 2006 had 14,5xx miles on it before I assumed it for 9 days. The exterior of the car looks really dated. The "cab-forward" thing just doesn't work well on a convertable - the proportions of the vehicle don't look right.. but styling is a personal taste for most everyone, so I'll leave exterior impressions alone. The interior: Positives: Comfortable room for the kids in the back. Seats were comfortable & supportive. Everything seemed fairly well layed out. The top folds up & down very easily -- and quickly. Negatives: Little or no attention seems to have …

General Motors isn't the only automaker that is dealing with problems with the ignition switch. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced it is investigating the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Dodge Journey from the 2008 to 2010 model years due to ignition switch problems. NHTSA says they have been receiving complaints that the key can can shift from the “run” to the “accessory” mode while the vehicle is on the move. "While in this intermediate position, harsh roadway conditions or driver interaction with the ignition key can cause the switch to move to the ACC position which may disable the frontal air bags in a crash where…

Allpar is reporting that updates are incoming to the HEMI engine lineup, but likely after the 2016 model year according to sources. Details as to what the updates include are unknown at this time, but direct injection is a likely one. The delay is due to resources being somewhat limited. No word as to what vehicle will get the HEMI first. There are also changes in store for the Hellcat as well. Allpar says the Hellcat is being tuned to have a bit more refinement in the Grand Cherokee as to match the character of the SUV and buyer. A reduction in power is possible. The other change is for more power that could be arriving in 2017. Source: Allpar View full arti…

Head over to Jalopnik for some spy photos of a Nitro SRT8. Chrysler can't seriously be thinking of bringing an SRT8-badged Dodge Nitro to market, can they? Well, if this latest batch of spy photos from the spy shooters at KGP are right, then they are. But they can't be! Seriously. It's inconceivable. We don't care where they found this manufacturer-plated madness (right outside of the Firehouse in downtown Detroit) or what it has slapped on the back (an SRT8 badge), but it's hard to argue with photographic evidence. We'll assume it's an engineer having a little bit of fun or perhaps another media outlet playing around with the cameras. Because seriously -- it's got to b…

Benz-sourced turbo-diesel adds new dimension to Jeep's slick new Grand Cherokee The Benz V6s form an interesting backdrop to the Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD launched in Australia this week with an all-new, Mercedes-sourced 3.0-litre V6. The Grand Cherokee’s turbo-diesel winds out an impressive 160kW (at 4000rpm) as well as the expected mountain of torque – in this case, 510Nm at a barely-spinning 1600rpm. This means it will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in a mere 9.0 seconds – half a second faster than the 4.7-litre petrol V8 version of the new Grand Cherokee. Just as importantly, the efficient oil-burner means the almost-2.2-tonne Grand Cherokee has fuel co…

July 4, 2009 - 12:01 am ET MILAN (Reuters) -- CEO Sergio Marchionne's immediate product plans for Chrysler Group could be limited to weeding out weaker models and tweaking prices as he gears up to launch new designs within two years. Marchionne, who also heads Fiat S.p.A., took the wheel at the struggling U.S. car maker in June after sealing a deal for the Italian company to take a 20 percent stake in return for getting Chrysler back to health with the help of Fiat technology. He said on June 26 he hoped to have "at least a road map from a product standpoint" in 14 days, and on Wednesday said he wanted to decide what to do with Chrysler's Dodge and Fiat's Alfa Rom…

The chief executive of Chrysler says the automaker's recovery will be gradual but the company is making progress following its speedy government-led bankruptcy. CEO Sergio Marchionne (MAR-key-own-ee) said in a speech to a Washington think tank that his new leadership team is "not planning miracles at Chrysler" but is committed to creating "rapid change" at the Michigan automaker. Marchionne's Fiat Group SpA owns 20 percent of Chrysler with an opportunity for more and was put in charge of rescuing the automaker by the U.S. government. Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy protection in June. He told the Peterson Institute for International Economics that Chrysler broke even …

Last year, Chrysler announced that the 2012 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger would be equipped with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission from parent company Fiat. One year later, Chrysler has dropped the idea to put a dual-clutch transmission for now. "We were concerned about the refinement and how the American customers might perceive the transmission," said Chrysler Spokesperson, Vince Muniga. Muniga also said the decision was made in the summer and will "look for other future products" to put it in for the North American market. More details about the tentative labor agreement between the UAW and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is coming to light. Automotive News has learned from sources that more production moving would be taking place. As we reported last week, FCA's Toledo factory would be saying good-bye to the Cherokee to make room for more Wranglers and the possibility of a new truck. The Cherokee is expected to be built Belvidere Assembly in Illinois. The big change in production is the Ram 1500 moving from the Warren Truck Plant to the Sterling Heights Assembly plant. This will mean production of Chrysler 200, currently built in Sterling Heights, will move to another plant. Accord…

Now Nardelli is backing off his comments. In email sent to The Detroit News, Nardelli didn't deny his claims but clarified them. "I did not mean to suggest that the government did not make t…

Bribery Exposed in DCX Investigation DaimlerChrysler AG has hired former FBI director Louis Freeh to serve as an outside monitor as it nears the end of a two-year internal investigation that has uncovered multiple instances of bribery by company employees, according to people familiar with the situation. The massive internal investigation found employees at the automaker's Mercedes division bribed officials in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe, the people said. The bribery allegations, brought to light in 2004 by company whistle-blowers, also are the focus of a civil investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and a criminal probe by the Justice Department. …

Chrysler's EVs are for real When Chrysler rolled out three electric vehicle prototypes a couple of weeks ago most EV experts were skeptical. They were even more skeptical when the company claimed that it would have an EV on sale by 2010. Wait a minute, everyone wondered, how could Chrysler have caught up with GM, Nissan and other automakers who have been working on EV's for a lot longer? Well, to hear Chrysler tell it, it's not behind at all. It is the first major automaker to actually allow members of the media and dealers to drive its production-intent EV's. The company claims it's been working on EV's for at least two and a half years-or about the same time as the …

Following the news last week that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was under investigation by both the Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission over inflated sales, Automotive News has learned from various sources that an investigation done by the company revealed misreported sales numbers. According to the sources, FCA ordered an internal review last year over their sales reporting. What the review found is "that 5,000 to 6,000 vehicles had been reported as sold by dealers and then "unwound." It is unknown the time period that was covered by the review. After the review, U.S. sales head Reid Bigland attempted to put a stop to the practice. But a source s…

Sorry no pics at this time, but it was cool looking. It had bulged out fenders front and rear. The intercooler for the turbo was in plain site, the front bumper looked to be a little cobbled on to fit around the intercooler. It had quite a large tailpipe on it, like something you would see on a local rice burner that makes a lot of noise but goes no where fast. The guy in the car was hauling ass so I had to haul ass too, to keep up with him. He actually got on it a lot to get away from me because he spotted me eyeing it, too much for him I guess! Nice exhaust sound though, very deep sounding. The wheels did not look production, I would say they were anywhere from 17-18" w…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 24, 2013 Last night, Chrysler announced they are preparing to do an initial public offering of some of its shares. This comes as a result of Chrysler/Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne and the UAW's Retiree Medical Benefits Trust (AKA the VEBA trust) not coming to an agreement concerning the 41.5 percent stake of Chrysler the trust holds. Chrysler hasn't announced the amount of shares nor the price in their IPO documents, but it did set a maximum proposed offering price of $100 million. J.P. Morgan is the the investment bank for Chrysler's IPO. The shares will come from the VEBA trust. Why is Chrysler doing an IPO? Fi…

2007 Dodge Caliber Trading perk for class. by Marty Padgett (2006-02-13) The Caliber five-door hatchback succeeds the four-door and two-door Neons in the Dodge lineup. But just so we're clear on this upfront, it's no Neon replacement. With its tougher, vaguely militaristic connotations right up front in the title, the Caliber drops the perky Neon overtones for a classier, more substantial, and far more upscale feel. The problem is, it's also more expensive than the Neon, in an age where sub-Neon cars are winning converts. Sans Neon rebates, you pay the price for the cargo-loving body style, for the standard curtain airbags and superior back-seat room. Dodge cro…

By Emily Chasan Emily Chasan – Fri May 29, 8:27 am ET Link to Story NEW YORK (Reuters) – Lee Iacocca, the car executive credited with saving Chrysler from bankruptcy in the 1980s, is to lose a big chunk of his pension and a guaranteed life-long company car due to the U.S. automaker's bankruptcy filing two decades later. Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli told a U.S. bankruptcy court on Thursday that Iacocca's pension would be among the obligations Chrysler will no longer have to pay if it gets bankruptcy court approval to sell itself to a "New Chrysler" to be owned by its union, the U.S. and Canadian governments and Fiat SpA (FIA.MI). Chrysler LLC and Nissan Motor Co. have postponed plans to share a North American-built small car and a full-sized pickup until they can reduce costs. A third vehicle-sharing project, in which Chrysler will sell a version of Nissan's compact Versa sedan, will continue on schedule, the companies said late Thursday. The automakers blamed the interruption on a worsening economic picture, including dollar-yen exchange rates, that is throwing sales forecasts in doubt. "Because of current economic conditions, Nissan and Chrysler teams working on the two other projects have been asked to ensure that financial objectives for both companies can be met before these two projec…
