Just saw it a little while ago near my house in Houston. I must say this would probably be a very interesting car to drive for a day. Especially at a track. I'd still get a Z06 over this though. (BTW - that's the hood, windshield and right side wiper on the old Jimmy)

I grabbed some 2008 model brochures recently on a run around a few dealers. Here's what I picked up: Buick Enclave Buick LaCross Buick Lucerne (the super is conspicuously absent in this brochure) Cadillac DTS (new midnight blue leather interior option for 08, good to see colors coming back inside) GMC Acadia GMC Canyon (V-8 not available on regular cab, but you can get a 2wd Xtended cab sport with V8) 2008 Envoy Saturn Vue Has anyone else pickup any 08 brochures? What did you get?

At 1000 RPM, your engine is REVOLVING at 16.67 times per second. At 3000 RPM, we're looking at three times that, or 50 times per second. At 7000 RPM, we're speaking of 116.67 times per second. And those high-revving 12,000 RPM engines hit a completely outrageous 200 revolutions per second! Am I effing insane? Are these numbers completely off? I'm going crazy looking at these numbers. How the hell is that possible?! If you take into account that these engines are four-stroke, does that mean they're actually doing four times more rotations than they are revolutions? Or less?

  9. I guess I'm conservative with cars...DUH. Well, I think about the rental cars out there. Once put into service, they don't know who will be driving it and how and I think they change the oil the very first time at around 7,000 miles, per the owner's manual. When I got my new car, I drove it real "easy" the first 1,000 miles or so, mixing both city and highway driving. Then, I took it in for a "break in" oil and filter change at about 1,500 miles and then returned to a regimen of changes every 2,500 miles or so. The car has been awesome. I really believe that any "impurities" in the oil or the engine will be flushed out with an early oil change and that things will…

I rented a Mustang convertible (wow!) in Vegas, drove to the Hoover Dam (well, I was a tourist!), then sped (where 80 mph is slow - God love Americans!) along highway 15 into L.A. to West Hollywood (no smart remarks, girls) where I spent 4 fabulous days cruising the streets of L.A. MY CONCLUSION: The more I travel around the world, the more I realize how much Toronto sucks. Expecting the worst, I found navigating the freeways and highways of L.A. to be a snap. Even a 7 a.m. truck roll-over on the eastbound hwy 10 could not stop our return trek to Vegas on Wednesday morning. Why? Because despite L.A…

This bill was passed a couple weeks ago by President Bush without Congressional approval or oversight; mainstream news has not covered it, in fact most don't even know about it (I found out via a skyscraper forum). Essentially, this bill allows for the "continuity" of America in the event of a catastrophic disaster that would give extraordinary powers to the executive branch, throwing the system of checks and balances out the window. A catastrophic disaster could be another Katrina, 9/11, major earthquake in California, economic depression...you name it. Not only does the executive branch gain more power, but the president can take control of "private sector owners and…

You can pronounce the food in whatever way your linguistical leanings allow, but there’s a big difference between a car show and an auto show such as the 2007 Delaware Auto Show, scheduled for Oct. 5-7 at the Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington. Put simply, car shows are for classic, antique and tuner cars – vehicles you want to admire close up. At those look-but-don’t-touch events, owners don’t really like for you to touch the cars or get in them. Auto shows offer, however, the coolest, latest, sleekest, hottest rides available now and in the immediate future for the gearhead…

The Tea Party made a mockery of itself as the country waited weeks for the federal government shutdown to end, and the President’s signature legislation, the Affordable Care Act, struggled in its implementation. What do you know? The fuse it had listed for the brake lights was intact. That's odd... must be the brake light switch. After switching that out for one out of the Jetta, I knew something had to be up. I had a sheet I printed out previously for relay information and it also happened to have fuse information on it. As most of ya'll know, I've been back from my weekend mini road trip to IN-OH-PA-MI last weekend, Aug 11-14, around my family reunion in Holsopple PA on Saturday, Aug 12. I had a great time (despite Dad's health issues that developed Sunday afternoon while I was en route to Toledo OH). I'm already looking forward to my October road trip out west through AR-TX-OK-KS-MO-IA-WI ... and even my trip east in 2007 (around the MC Nationals and Monte MadneSS, if both are indeed scheduled for back-to-back weekends).... But, for this trip, as usual, I met a few people along the way and learned a thing or two . Indiana (Friday morning) ...Tammy (college friend; Warsaw, about 9:1…

Coming home tonight I saw a very strange CTS at a light...white, but the hood and front fenders were flat black, the stock fascia, grille and headlights gone---replaced with a large black flat, thick steel bumper and a bull bar (looked like something from an off-roader). Round headlights and fog lights bolted to the top of the bumper. Black steel wheels. Looked very mean and serious.. I should have done a u-ee and followed it.. it was dark, but it was at a well-lit intersection..... (and I only had one glass of wine with dinner, so I'm not going nutters). Maybe something specially built for the Dept. of Homeland Security (Urban Assault Vehicle).

Continuing with the C&G Automotive Awards 2006 presentation, which vehicle do you, dear readers, nominate as C&G's Most Powerful Love Magnet Car for 2006? Let's face it, first impressions are important, and most of us choose a vehicle that we feel extends our personality. For those of us who are single, and even for those of us who are taken, but still like to be the recipient of admiring glances on the road, which vehicle tops the list for attracting friends and potential dates?

I think we need a different measure of how much a vehicle has been used rather than just mileage. I'm sure we've all seen those ads for used cars saying "All highway miles!", but I think in addition to that, we have to start to take powertrain setup into consideration. When I bought my Avalanche, it only had 12,800 miles on it which is insanely low for a 7 year old truck. But for all I knew, those could have been all city miles where the truck was idling and going through short bursts of acceleration. But I actually know it was mostly highway miles because these trucks also have an engine hour monitor on them. I don't remember what it was when I bought it, but I t…

Well guys, I think I told all of you about where I work. I work for an auto parts company, in fact its CarQuest. The particular store that I work at serves one of the two ambulance companies that operate from where I live. The ambulance company that my store serves has one particular ambulance that really hits a special place with me. Its called Angel One, and its a NeoNatal Transport ambulance. Its one of only two I think in the state and one of only a few in the nation that is specialized in newborn and baby transport. Anyway, my ambulance company gives me a call for a set of brake pads, front and rear, on a Ford E450, no big deal, they've got five of them, and an…

OK, I didn't know this, but here's a tip - if you're renting a car, decline CDW (collision damage waver) insurance. Instead, look at your credit card's terms and conditions. It's very likely that rental insurance is included in that. For an eight-day one-way rental in Spain, my price went from €460 to €280. I assumed my normal auto insurance wouldn't cover me outside the US, but thankfully I happened to glance at the benefits pamphlet of my newly issued card, which normally I would have thrown away. Now it's $50/day; you can't even get that price in the US (as an 18-20 year old). Reserved a CWMR (C-segment, wagon, manual, air conditioning) diesel from Sixt, and presum…

  83. Just got back from our dealer and we will likely be rolling in a W-Body by the end of the week. The Buick we initially came down to see was sold on Saturday but we saw a 2007 Impala on the Used Lot that was built less than six months ago and only had 11K Kms (6500 miles) on it, so we figured what the hell, seems like the right car and the price is right so we're gonna buy it (pending my mother's approval). It's Dark Silver Impala LS with Graphite Cloth interior and Wood Interior trim. It's also got alloys, spoiler, XM Radio, OnStar, Bucket Seats w. tonight, Vikings / Cowboys so the Vikes hold a 10-3 lead late into the 4th quarter. Dull, but solidly played game. You don't care if J.T. I suck again, er, JT O'Sullivan gives the game away because he does suck, you expect it, and its JUST PRESEASON FOOTBALL. Ok, well, he didn't lose the game, but the cowboys get the ball for the final drive and march down and score a touchdown with like 15 seconds left. that makes the score 10-9. NOW, what next? Obvious. Go for two points to either win or lose the game. Let's get it over with and go home. .....well, it's either off of a Camaro or Firebird. My Chevy buddy tells me the spoilers were of different angles/heights- he believes this is Camaro, but doesn't recognize the stripes. I've seen a pic of striping similar on a Camaro, tho it had 'Rallye Sport' above it (perhaps removed here?) Anyone recognize which this belongs to? I want to sell it, need to target the right motorheads. I realize the decklid itself is interchangable. Only thing stamped on it is 'T39'.

What's a car commercial from your youth that really stuck in your head over the years... it doesn't have to be a car you particularly liked, but one that was unique and you remember well. One of the ones that really stands out for me was this Isuzu Rodeo commercial. A older teacher in a monotone voice slowly instructs a class of coloring 1st graders to "Stay between the lines, the lines are our friends". Then one precocious little girl decides to scribble all over her coloring book. She grows up to buy an Isuzu Rodeo and goes off-roading. For whatever reason my dad got a kick out of it and it really stuck in my head all these years. So what's one th…

So I explained the basics and said I'd emial him some cool video footage except I can't find too many good ones. I posted a great one on the old forum (pre-August-crash) it was off of BigBoys.com (now Break.com) but since our old Forum is inaccessible I'm wondering if you guys can post some good links in this thread. Here's a decent one: http://www.dumpalink.com/media/1132567542/..._Drifting_Video except it's all choppy and keeps "getting stuck" on my old POS machine. Thanks in advance.

Well, the thread title pretty much sums up the problem. The roof wants to vent, but the right side doesn't want to slide back, when the left slide does. The Chrysler/Dodge dealer sais it would cost $670 for a new assembly + labor! Thats outrageous, I'd rather just get another car. Any ideas or know where I can get used parts cheap cheap cheap? Oh, and the vehicle in question is a 2001 Plymouth Neon.
