Buick
Founded in 1903 by David Dunbar Buick, Buick is one of America’s oldest automobile brands and the oldest active division of General Motors (GM). Known for pioneering innovations like the overhead valve engine, Buick became a symbol of affordable luxury throughout the 20th century. It played a key role in GM’s growth and today positions itself between Chevrolet and Cadillac, offering premium vehicles in both the U.S. and China—its largest market.

So I've been thinking...Since the engine between the Buick LaCrosse V6 and the Camaro V6 are the same (LLT I believe), then wouldn't it be sweet to incorporate a supercharger into the LaCrosse's performance? Now before you going flaming me, I'm just thinking out loud here...packaging would likely need to change to ensure a fit within the engine bay, and the cost would be nothing to laugh at. But just think about it for a second... A supercharged 2012 Buick LaCrosse Currently 303 HP, could get well over 400 from a S/C application 4 doors for all your friends and a roomy trunk for the gear. AWD to keep you stable and give one hell of a launch control. A total sleep…

From China Car Times, here are some more pictures of the new Chinese Buick Excelle sedan. Maybe it's the gray-ish color of the body, rather than white, but in my opinion, they look pretty good; I particularly like the proportions of the photo in the bottom right.

A new J.D. Power Sales and Satisfaction Index was released today, and BUICK was tied for third! According to the story from Automotive News, Jaguar topped the ranking for the second straight year. Lexus was second, and Buick and Porsche were tied for third. The Index measures "the satisfaction new-vehicle buyers express with the sales process." Are you proud of Buick, GM?

History of Buick Design media.medialink.com link to video From the early days of William Durant and Walter Marr to current overseas success, Buick has been at the forefront of automotive design. With groundbreaking features, the line was one of the driving forces behind the creation of General Motors. Now, a hundred years later, Buick is set to make an impact with the premiere of the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. Revisiting the past to debut the future, GM's current head of design, Ed Welburn, gives us a tour of Buick's history – discussing the first ever concept car and some of the key design elements over the last century. It's been about six years since GM introduced the Lambdas (Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Terrain, and Saturn Outlook) to the world and they're beginning to get long in the tooth. GM is quietly working on next generation of these models and some spy shots have come out of Buick Enclave with added camoflage. The pictures show the Enclave will be retaining it's large size as the current model. Also, the front end gets a new grill with longer, thinner grille slats spaced further out. The back end doesn't show any changes thanks to all of the camouflage. Source: Inside Line View full article

Having been on car lots on the other side of the border a few times since the car's release, I have seen some W-bodies branded Allure. I don't think it's a bad name. LaCrosse is a sport, yet so many posters have deemed this car to have a "feminine quality." I like to think of it as sexless, but I don't think it's as sporty as the name implies...even in CXS form. I think the name Allure is somewhat similar to the name Intrigue. And I believe that the LaCrosse/Allure fills the void (sadly) left behind by the very tasteful Olds Intrigue. I give my nod to the name Allure for both sides of the border, though it's a little late for that at this stage in the game. Your…

Handling is great and it feels very quick too. rushing to work this morning and look down... oppsie... I'm doing 90. In the 2010-Present LaCrosse, the Door Unlock is on the center console. Holding unlock does not unlock the trunk as it did in the previous generation LaCrosse. I find it ridiculous there's no way to unlock the trunk from the inside of the car. If I have someone running to the car in the rain with their hands full, I have to get out of the car to open the trunk for them and get wet myself, OR shut the car off to use the fob (the trunk release doesn't work on the fob if the car is running). Why would GM make it impossible to open the trunk from inside the car while the car is running and parked? Secondly, I use a USB flash drive to store music and play back in the car.…

Happy birthday to my Regal! It turns 15 today. I bought it as my first brand new car while I was in grad school (though it was garaged at my parents' house 2,000 miles away) and the powertrain is original. It was factory-ordered. When I parked it last night, the odometer read 235,000.1. So, I'm less than 15,000 miles away from the quarter million mark I'm shooting for. Should I keep striving for it? I'll still get my new car (W-body) anytime between fall of 2007 and spring of 2008, and keep the Regal to try to hit that milestone!

2010 Buick LaCrosse CXL FWD The Looks... So at my dealer, while my tires were getting put on my salesman and I went out for a cruise in the 2010 LaX they got in last week... Let me tell you this car is STUNNING in person, it has dramatic lines, the Diamond white paint and chrome wheels "were just right". William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 29, 2012 General Motors released a teaser picture of the new Buick Enclave which will make its official debut at the New York auto show in April. The picture which teases the interior of the new Enclave looks the same as the new Acadia, except for the different color lighting. So that means the Enclave will have Buick's Intellilink system, an extensive use of LED ambient lighting, and new switchgear. Also, expect the center airbag seen in the Acadia to appear as well. I just got done with a rental Lucerne. Here is what I had and what I noted. The car was brand new and only had 3,000 miles. Though a base model it was nicely optioned and if stickered at $26K or 27K would have been a good car for an older driver. Road manners while not sporting was very managable and comfortable. It handeled Southern Californias caynon roads and highways just fine. I even noted with the 80-90 MPH speeds on the high way it still managed 24 MPG. The one major complaint I would have is the 3800 Series III should have never been used in this car. The rest of the car is just more refined even in base form for a engine of this nature. I like the 380…

The older version had much information on the Perception Gap, which (in particular) got quite a bit of airplay around here back in 2006, when it was presented to General Motors. There are still a lot of unanswered questions concerning the sale of Opel/Vauxhall to PSA Groupe. A fair number deals with Buick as a number of their products (including the new Regal) are intertwined with Opel. GM executives say this will not affect Buick's lineup down the road. “The sale of Opel will have no impact on the fresh new lineup Buick is building out,” said Duncan Aldred, GM’s vice president of global Buick and GMC during the launch of the 2018 Regal this week. “This is very much part of our portfolio plan,” said Mark Reuss, GM’s executive vice president of global product development, purchasing, and supply chain to Car and Driver. “As we said, Opel …

Saw an ad today for the Buick LaCrosse while reading my Hispanic Business magazine and noticed something that made me laugh. The ad shows the LaCrosse CXS and ES 350 side by side and has a list of features and awards, but the very last line says "Desaceleracion del vehiculo robado" It basically translates to "stolen vehicle slow down." It then says "no disponable" (not available) under the ES and "OnStar/ 1 ano estandar" (one year standard) under the Buick. I know GM has been advertising this for a while now, but it made me think of the ES's acceleration issue... Made me wonder if it was meant to be a slap in the face...

Wheels: Lucerne should broaden Buick's appeal to younger set Thursday, February 02, 2006 By Don Hammonds, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Growing up in the 1950s, one of my favorite memories was an olive green 1949 Buick Roadmaster Convertible that my next-door neighbor proudly drove around town. That car had that indefinable something called presence. You couldn't take your eyes off of it and there was a certain air of romance about it as it headed down the road. Buick always stood for just that -- presence, glamour and the romance of the American road. And thanks to Buick's newest full size sedan, the Lucerne, General Motors' upper-end car division has recaptured that past…

There are some flattering spy photos on the internet of the next Astra convertible, which thankfully eschews a heavy, complicated folding hardtop for a canvas roof. What say you on a Verano convertible? I am surprised no one posted a link to the pictures yet. It looks great.

Noticed that the Lucerne CXL is showing Carbon Black Metallic among color choices, but only in conjunction with a Spring Appearance package. It includes black chrome grill, chrome 17" wheels, and chrome decklid molding. I'm wondering if the wheel design is unique? Anyone heard any specifics on this? Also, Cars.com is still showing the LaX CXS trim level. They usually have their site updated before BUICK updates theirs . . .

The 2006 Buick model line-up actually looks pretty good, as shown for the "Buick Summer Event" on buick.com's homepage. The Lucerne is in the forefront, and the LaCrosse, Rendezvous, Rainier, and Terraza are also shown, each in a gray or silver. To view the page, click here.

What do you know about RWD and Zeta? GM said recently it would decide in the next 6 months which cars to make. There's been some buzz about Buick and the Velite. Any good info you can share?

Sneak Peak at Enclave with 20 inch factory wheel option? Saw this on Autoblog. Notice the wheels are different. I've not seen these in the aftermarket accessories booklet, and its not an option for 2008, so, could these be the 2009 20 inch wheels from the factory?

I stumbled across the website earlier today. I found it encouraging that the Enclave was on display at the autoshow. It's one step closer to Buick-China & Buick-US consolidating line-ups. http://autoshow.shanghaigm.com/ Click on one of the three pics (center-left) to activate the interactive autoshow floor and browse through the cars that were on display. I'm looking forward to 2007's show. I hope to see Holden and possibly the spy-pic'd Buick Royaum replacement return to China.

Having dug around the Buick of China website it dawned on me. They have a beautiful LaCrosse that has way more class than ours does. Could it be the next LaCrosse? Luxury LaCrosse?

Two Heads Are Better Than One, When It Comes To Lu

Milford, Mich. - Not unlike a finely crafted musical instrument, the 2006 Buick Lucerne - the nameplate's most premium model - was literally "tuned by ear" using advanced acoustic measurement and analytical technologies. Throughout Lucerne's development process, GM engineers regularly used a sophisticated sound recording device nicknamed "Aachen HEAD" (pronounced AH-KIN) to capture sounds within Lucerne's interior while the car is in motion. An Aachen HEAD is a digital recording tool that closely matches the way humans process sound by preserving the binaural attributes of the sound inside or outside of a moving vehicle. The device, which…

Buick's large crossover will get the sleek Buick Wildcat concept styling from the show car. The Enclave will sport the same slim "eyes" and large lower grille as seen on the Buick Envista, but scaled up for the Enclave's size. We expect the Enclave to receive the same 328 horsepower / 326 lb-ft of torque 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder found in the recently refreshed Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia. While the Enclave has been fully redesigned, it will continue to use an updated version of the existing C1 platform and be roughly the same size as the outgoing model. While the teaser sketches show a more rakish rear glass, the mules that have been spotted retain th…

China will be getting a fuel-sipping version of the new LaCrosse in the near future. The automaker revealed the LaCrosse Hybrid at an event yesterday in Shanghai. The hybrid system is comprised of a 1.8L SIDI four-cylinder, electric variable transmission, and a 1.5 KwH lithium-ion battery. Buick is keeping quiet on performance specs, but does say the model will reach 62 miles per hour in 8.9 seconds and return 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers (about 50 MPG). Compared to the last-generation LaCrosse eAssist, the new LaCrosse Hybrid is 35 percent more efficient. Other fuel saving tricks include grille shutters, electronic climate control compressor, and a thermal energ…
