  4. Boeing to deliver first 787 after years of delays Link: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Boeing-to-deliver-first-787-apf-4218156513.html Boeing delivers its first 787 jet on Sunday. It's been a long time coming. The new jet, which was supposed to be flying passengers three years ago, has been delayed by production and design problems. But now it's here, and airlines expect it to offer travelers much more comfort, open up new routes and provide significant fuel savings. The first one goes to Japan's All Nippon Airways, which has been printing the 787 logo and "We Fly 1st" on its business cards for years. Airlines love the jet, which Boeing calls the Dreamliner. Th…

And you can’t see the end in any of it. This isn’t the model we’ve grown accustomed to in Europe of late. But it’s real. How refreshing is it to sit with a leading executive in Europe and have him tell you he is going to exceed every expectation in the coming years? How refreshing it is to be in the game in Russia. General Motors Europe President Carl-Peter Forster has a vision. It is more plants, new agreements and higher revenues. And he wasn’t talking about western Europe. Truth be told, t…

And, regardless of the fact that Ventimiglia is technically old enough to be Panettiere’s dad (he’s 30, she’s only 18), Panettiere’s family has given Ventimiglia the thumbs up. “Hayden’s mom adores Milo. She thinks he’s so cute,” a family friend told People. "She tells her friends that he's her boyfriend. About two years ago, my cholesterol level had gotten to the low end of what is considered borderline high, so my doctor recommended that I start taking a minimal dose of lipitor daily. I was very hesitant at first because I didn't like the idea of taking anything long term. After a long discussion with my doctor of the pros and cons I decided to go ahead and start taking it while I continued on my fitness program and watched my diet. It has worked out well so far. I told her that's a very open-ended question, as there's a HUGE amount of information to know for each thing. What my question is, are there any good websites that might explain engines (starting with basic information, like OHV vs. OHC), but isn't too complicated to understand? Any websites that might have some animation to show the student about engines in motion, for example, pistons and their firing order, valves opening and closing, etc.? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

CAFE 2016, what will it really mean for the auto industry...esp. as the EU and Japan are also demanding better fuel economy?

I recently joined the Society of Automotive Engineers so I am able to attend a few seminars this year at the 2007 World Conference in April at Cobo Hall. They have some interesting presentations like Diesel Emissions and Aftertreatment Devices: Design and Durability, Catalytic Converters: Design and Durability, Fundamentals of All-Wheel Drive Systems, and the AVL Technology Theater. http://www.sae.org/congress/ So I was just wondering if anyone else was a member, or planning on attending any of the upcoming SAE events?

Sure, we've heard people spew ignorance about cars at the gas pump, but I think it's much worse on the internet. Read this little gem I found while looking for guitar tabs here. At least a few guys were trying to set the record straight.

Story: A boy and his family move from their home in Berlin to a strange new house in Poland, young Bruno befriends Shmuel, a boy who lives on the other side of the fence where everyone wears striped pajamas. Bruno is unaware of the fate of the Jewish prisoners or the role his own Nazi father plays in it. Excellent movie, with a surprise ending ...

OK, this is not a discussion thread, just a poll. Don't vote FWD or RWD if you might consider the other configuration in a NEW car. Used car purchases don't count.

http://www.fiaformulae.com/en.aspx Is the competition any good? It's basically F1-ish cars but with electric engines. I haven't had the chance to watch any races yet but it does sound interesting. I wonder how the cars compare with F1cars.

The President spoke at a meeting today at the hotel just north of the office building where i work today. Literally a couple hundred feet or less away. The point where they brought him in the building was across from the north side of our floor which I work on. So we spent a good deal of the afternoon waiting to see the motorcade arrive and leave. He drives into a tent and they close the tent so the general public cannot see what's going on. Personally, I get the feeling they have some Famous Dave's barbeque under the tent that all the security forces and GW were snacking on. There was less of a visible force than I imagined there would be, but who knows, maybe th…

So I was supposed to get a '08 Malibu LTZ with the 2.4L to review yesterday....only....when the guy dropping it off was about 5 miles from my house, a hose blew. Coolant hose I think judging from the smoke and sweet smell the guy mentioned. How the hell does that happen on ANY car with only 6400 miles on it??

My parents really want our old car back so they heard about the whole history report thing so they want to track down the vehicle. They really want it back for a vehicle for me and we believe it is one from the good batch. It is our beloved 1989 Chrysler Dynasty LE. I want to see possibly where it went and track it down if possible. We got rid of it in 2002 with just over 120k on it I believe. It had no body rust even and ran great. It had a V6 and blue cloth interior with bench seat. It was dark blue on the outside. This car has great sentimental value and we realize now we should've kept it. I am just afraid to find it salvaged or something. I would really appreciate it…

If Admins dont like this please ban or elimante this name! I thought of this when i wanted to say somthing but really didnt want to lose a freindship because for extreme different views. I ask dont make a sig unless it is openminded. Also dont use it as a full time name. SO LOG OUT WHEN DONE. Any Questions? anyone can answer them.

I wonder what's up with that? I've been on a hockey kick lately, so I decided to pick up NHL 09. (for ps2) I've played quite a bit of NHL 07, so I knew what to expect. 09 was a disaster, loading for anything took forever....so I gave up and got NHL 08. 08 is close to 07, so figured it should work fine. It works much better, but it freezes up during games ( I have yet to finish one) I know I had issues with the slim, and I even blew the dust out. It plays WWE wrestling, Nascar, and kingdom of hearts fine. I haven't tried 07 yet, but I will. Should I expect these games to freeze up?

I asked this on a couple other forums I go to but I still havent decided which one I want... We just got them in Canada. Sirius seems to have some better talk stations, but XM has a better variety in music (from what I can see in the 3 day trial). Also, with XM I can sign up using a US address and get ALL the channels. Because of Canadian laws, if you sign up to the US service you miss out on a bunch of them.

  86. That's right long before the EV-1, GM planned to make the mighty Chevette the Electric Car of the future, way back in the 70's! Meet the Electrovette! This ain't your Daddy's Chevette! GM - Quote "The Electrovette is the first of a new series of electric test cars produced by the General Motors Corp. This experimental prototype uses twenty 12-volt maintenance-free batteries weighing 920 lbs (417 kg) which are carried in the rear seat compartment. The suspension system has been re-engineered to handle the additional weight. The two passenger sedan weighs 2,950 lbs (1338 kg) and has a top speed of 53 mph (85 km/hr). have Word 2000 and I am creating a document that has a "fill in the blanks" type feeling to it. My question is, is there a way to have lines that you can put text onto without the line moving because all you did was something like this "_______________". To put it another way if this is hard to understand and you really have the kindness in your heart to help . I just need something that can be a line with words on it, but like a template. not like this "_______hello______"

Well, 10 years ago today - March 15, 2002 - I became a member of CheersandGears.com. I am not the oldest posting member by any means, [cough]Camino[/cough] , but I have never left this place for more than a week's time (hey, sometimes I needed a vacation!). I have learned quite a bit about my favorite automaker, more than I sometimes wanted to know about other automakers, have met a bunch of C&G members over the years in person, and have been blessed with gifts from members past and present (and have tried to do my share of "passing it forward"). This is the place I come to for my daily dose of automobilia and don't foresee me leaving any time soon (God willingly!)…

  93. My son Joel has a really cool friend Paul who is 16 and learning how to drive. Paul's dad has a nice older Cadillac (similar to Sixty-Eights bannana boat). Paul was pulling into his parent's attached garage, being coached by his father. His father said "now hit the brakes gently." Instead of hitting the brakes Paul hit the gas by mistake. While people may debate the fuel economy and such of old caddies, one thing is for sure...they are just the cat's ass when it comes to destroying drywall and 2x4 studs. The car lurched forward, through the garage wall and into the living room. About six grand worth of damage to the house and a similar amount to the car. While it …
