Well, Thursday the SES light illuminated in my Aurora, which coincided with an increasingly loud growling noise from the engine bay. Over the course of the day, it grew louder and was noticable under acceleration close to the shift points. Since I finished up work late, I had to wait 'till Friday to get it looked at. Took it to a local Gemini/Goodyear shop since I know the gents and they were able to squeeze me in as soon as they opened and they, well, couldn't get at it to figure it out. I call Scott Buick and they were apparently so swamped it wouldn't be 'till 2pm that I could take it down. Damn. Next stop, Dick Norris B-P-GMC where we bought our …

It's pretty lame but it lifted my spirits, if only for a sec. when I got it in my email. ------------ A cabbie picks up a nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the very handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring. He replies: "I have a question to ask you, but I don't want to offend you." She answers, "My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am nd have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive." "Well, I've always had a fantasy to have …

Only about a half dozen times in my life have I found myself so depressed, angry, despondent, miserable & distressed that even cars & car related activities did not lift my spirits... even thoe sight of a '69 Camaro or a '50s Cadillac did not put a smile on my face. I have reached rock bottom in my life. I'm really so upset and have been of the past two days I can not even acomplish basic tasks like basic math. Marcia (girlfriend of 4 years) has as of two days ago told me that we are through. Over. Done. Not even a chance in hell that she will make an effort at our relationship. Well, I more or less have my college picked out. I sent in an application a couple months back and was accepted within the next few weeks. Then a few weeks ago they sent me a $7500 scholarship per year for 4 years. Not bad considering it costs about $14,600 yearly.. so I more or less cut that in half. Anyway, it's called Kettering University, but is formerly known as GMI (General Motors Institute) Engineering and Management Institute. It's supposed to be a really good engineering school. My counselor got all wide-eyed when I told her I was accepted.. let alone getting a scholarship. She said that they're highly selective, but whatever. Anyways, her…

when will the "other guys" start using this standard for engine ratings, and do you think that it would have any effect on what buyers would look for....an SAE rated car vs. and non SAE rated car? one more condition on that, since GM is the only one doing it, (right now, right?) how will it effect things after a few more brands use this standard. one way this could be usefull is if you the powercurves on the performance models and over lay them with the competitions power curves. this make sense? sorry if it doesn't.

I was thinking the other day that Metro would be a great name for a Smart-like city car, but GM had to ruin the name by putting it on that shitbox, although I guess it was kind of a city car, it was just a pile of crap. Skylark was ruined by those pointy-nosed things Buick tried to sell.

How many things would you do differently if you could go back with the knowledge you have now? I can think of several major changes in my life that I would love to make if I could go back in time. But here's a recent one: Instead of trying to pull a Hero Stunt J-turn in the middle of the racetrack after a half a lap in reverse at 40mph, I would pull off onto the grass and turn around safely and avoid a bone crunching rear end that disbled my Volvo and put me out of the Halloween Howler race. I thought it was an excellent follow up! I'd give the original a 9 and this one an 8.5 The very first scene is one of the most intense scenes I've ever witnessed in a movie and the ending has a great twist! I hope they don't make it into a franchise though (Which is what it looks like they're going to do)

I am starting to nitpick my truck, which usually means another new vehicle purchase is only a few months away. It won't be 2 years old until January 23rd and it has 27k miles. In heavy rains, it leaks. The headliner gets wet at the top of the driver's A-pillar. Also, it suddenly has a bunch of rattles in the doors and underneath. And I fear I am hearing the wear indicator on the front brake pads already. It's going in on Tuesday for a free promotional oil change and a brake inspection. I don't want to sound petty, I mean the truck runs fine, and starts with barely a flick of the key. It does have a couple very minor scuffs from people carelessl…

OK, there's an awesome new vehicle that you've just gotta have, but there's one problem. The color you've seen (and love) on other cars isn't available on your model... bah. Name your vehicle and the color you wish it came in. For example, I'd love to see a Colorado shortbed regular cab ZQ8 in monochrome Laser Blue with Ebony leather and machined or polished factory rims, and a Colorado Z71 4X4 in that cool new pearl brown color that's on the LaCrosse and '06 Impala and Monte with tan interior, body color flares, and machined finished factory rims. I'd also like to see a nice pale yellow return, like the beautiful Butternut Ye…

Anyone know of any dealers in their area that pair odd makes together? For instance, in Lexington there are several that not only pair together two makes that don't go together, but makes from completely different manufacturers! OK, this analogy popped on the top of my mind for some reason: Chevrolet -> A jug of water. Two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen. The necessities of everyone. Pontiac -> A nice bottle of beer, chilled to the right temperature. What GM is basically doing, by giving Pontiac rebadge Chevys, GM is pouring water into beer. It's like... who wants to drink diluted beer? Beer has H2O naturally in it (platform sharing), but don't pour it in directly! :alcoholic: :P And here's another one: Toyota -> A bottle of methanol wine. At the moment you're drinking it, it tastes just like wine, but eventually it'll make you blind and kill you.

I know this is way off topic here, but I figured *some* car nuts should know how to build things out of wood. I went to Home Depot and bought 12 pieces of spruce, 8 feet long each. I'm going to build a shoe rack and a laundry hamper. I cut 5 boards in thirds, and cut a sixth in 10 9-inch sections. The thirds go side by side with a 9-inch section at each end to form shelves. So I've used 1/2 of the wood so far. I want to build the sides and back (if necessary) out of as little wood as possible, so that my hamper can be bigger. Will 5 shelves screwed in to the vertical sides have strength? Will this design want to lean one way or the other, wobbling? If I do need a ba…

You can chose as many as you want, etc. Just give a reason why. It can be anybody. Previous, present, etc. You get the idea. Anybody on C&G that has posted that you want to meet post about it.

Just this sunday, I was at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) when I noticed a couple guys taking pictures (with some pretty high end equipment) outside the Delta Airlines check-in counter. So... my curiosity made me stop and take a look at what they could possibly be shooting. What do I see? A big African American (trying to be PC instead of just saying "black") dude, two women in their 30's-40's, and a younger girl with platinum blonde hair and a big hat. Turns out the girl is Ashlee Simpson with a bodygaurd etc. The only reason I recognized Ashlee is because I had seen her on the Larry King show the night before, and noticed the really blo…

Yes, I'm bored again. Sorry. Life without ABS. As you may know, the ABS on my Grand Am GT doesn't work. I haven't had any problems for the past few months that I've been driving it. That is until the past week or so... but first I'm going to tell you about a related issue. My front tires. Back around the middle of summer, I had my rear tires replaced. The rear were worthless with holes, leaks, and very little thread. The front, however, were still in great condition. Over half of its thread left. They gripped better than the new ones put on the rears. So, my dad left them alone and on the front. Ofcourse, as some may know, the roads around my house s…

Post any strange artwork you may have seen here. I found this one today at another forum...somebody made the entire city of San Francisco out of Jell-O and then put lights under it! It's actually pretty cool.

While out today, standing at a street corner waiting for the walk light, I heard this throaty whail from a car behind me, and not having seen it, immediately I thought that sounds like an Infinity G35 Coupe....sure enough turned to see and it was. It has a great throaty warble to its exhaust. Some others I like are the new Corvette and the Mustang as well as the Audi 4(8cyl). Of course I just love the sound of an eight.

I was walking along sidewalk enjoying the sunny, warm day when I glanced over at this new Jeep Commander sitting in the disabled spot of the parking lot of a retail store. The store was for the handicapped to outfit their vehicles for their special needs. Suddenly the vehicle started and shot forward about 8 ft like a bullet...jumped over a curb and stopped against a sign. The elderly couple looking like they were 80 years old camly backed up and drove away. Now if they had been facing the store window and a pedestrian had been there, someone would have been hurt or killed. Now, it begs the question, should the elderly and disabled be tested to a higher standard than …
