Was The 2000 W-Body Monte Carlo And Impala Meant To Be Rear-Drive? Browsing around on the net, I found a page that posted the specifications of 1998's Chevrolet Intimidator concept car, which would eventually become the production Monte Carlo in 2000, some two years later. I scanned over the drivetrain specs, expecting to see it listing the concept as a "front-engine, front-drive" car. Instead I found the following: Yes, that's right. The concept that previewed the sixth-generation MC was rear-drive. And something else tells me that feature was meant to be carried over into production. Also, I'd like for you to take note of the powertrain on this: And -- I…

  11. Warning-this is a rant, but it is how I really feel. This comes in part from Miata net and hanging out with a few of the VW/Audi guys...and talking with people at work or in various social circles. The feeling seems to be widespread that most of what is being built right now is just plain..well..butt awful ugly. I need to know if you all think 2009 is the worst year ever for car design. I just look at what some car makers are building, and I just want to weep. After driving one here, of all things an 03 or 04 Escaldade ESV (maybe EXT), mainly because of the 6.0L. Maybe a Denali XL too. Important is that the wife likes it too (although I am sure she'd take a Suburban for a lot less $$, and no 6.0L engine). The one here I drove got sold the next day. It's very hard for me to reveal myself to complete strangers, to appear vulnerable, but at the same time that's what makes therapy useful: someone who doesn't have an emotional connection to his/her client can 'kick butt' when needed and give you some 'candy' when you deserve a self-esteem boost. So, what are everyone's thoughts about this?

Society stereotypes certain jobs as male (miner) and certain jobs as female (make-up artist), for example. Is there an occupation typical of the other gender that you could do, or would do? Since I asked the question, I'll go first. I practically live at Borders or Barnes and Noble, so I could have been a librarian (work with books and information all day, and get paid for it). I have done many modifications to interiors, now it's your turn! here is a before-(we don't want anything like this) I envision a sweeping, late model Riveria style panel, with an overhang or brow that runs from door panel to door panel(top pad like a gen 3 Camaro also...) Anyways, it's a ranch house with a large 2 car garage and a swimming pool set on about 2 acres of land. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a nice finished basement (as a "family room"). So, yeah, this is something I'm struggling with right now, and I'm not sure where to go from here. Long story short - I've been crazy about this girl for a long time, but for one reason or another we've been missing each other. I find out from her friend that she started seeing someone about 4-5 weeks ago and they're "official". Unlike any other time I've fallen for someone, I feel this one is worth putting it all on the line for. Countering that emotion, however, is my sense of right and wrong, coupled with the fact that I don't want to piss off her friend, since she in not so many words told me not to bother. So there you have it, the cliff's notes version. I might go i…

Excuse the image quality, they were taken with my wife's 2MP camera phone, didn't have our Kodak with us. Anyone care to guess where this came from?

Here's a simple scenario. Let's say you have a few grand saved up and you want to buy a decent beater to keep the miles off of your nice later model car, and to also bear the brunt of going on long commutes to and from class and work, especially in inclement weather. You've found two options that are quite enticing. Here are those two options. Option One: 2005 Saabaru 9-2X AWD; 2.5L Boxer-Four; Five-Speed Stick; 57,000 miles; asking price of $4,000 with room to negotiate. Condition: filthy seats; rusty dent in the rear left side passenger door; horrible curb rash on all four tires, but otherwise sound. Option Two: 2002 Isuzu Axiom 4WD; 3.5L V6; Four-Speed Autotragic Slu…

So, I don't plan on having the Toyota for too much longer. If it doesn't sell (seems like this will be the case), I'm just going to trade it in. My dilemma pertains to the recurring fact that I am beyond indecisive. I look at vehicle after vehicle, day after day, and I can never whittle down what exactly I want. My tastes are always changing based on the flavor of the day (usually something impractical). What I do know is this: I need a car. It should be cheaper to own (incl. gas, ins, etc.). It mustn't be a snore. I can't do another car like the Avalon; it kills me everyday. It must be a stick or at least a dual-clutch that isn't made by Ford/Fiat. It should have a f…

It's a Wal-Mart special (shows how old it is, I have boycotted Wal-Mart for years, I think I bought it circa 1998) Pacific Strike 21 speed. It has never been left out in the weather, so it's in great shape. Tires hold air, don't appear too dry or cracked. Butt, it's too high off the ground, and I don't need that many gears. I want to get back into bike riding again, but this time around I am interested in a relaxed riding position and only 3 speeds... a comfort bike that can take on moderate hills. Anyone have any exPIRRience or recommendations? TIA.

To start, this is probably a "been there, done that" thread, but I really don't much care. The question is simple: What car do you forsee or would like to see in your future, new or used. And what might come -- such as the up and coming Camaro -- does not count. It must already be setting on a car lot somewhere. Here's what I'm seeing in or considering to make a part of my future (which more than likely translates to late summer or late fall). 1998 Chevrolet Camaro with about 70,000 to 90,000 miles for around $6,000 to $9,000, Black or Silver. Or... 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado for $2,500 to $8,500, "High Toned Son of a Bitch", Black Only And I won't rule out... 19…

The "fresh" names are lame, the two sedan, one SUV and pair of crossovers is completely retarded & the even worse is the lack of the following: - Affordable sedan (Century) - Personal Luxury 'Coupe' (2dr Reagal) - RWD cars (Regal ) - Bold Styling (last gen Riviera or Park Ave Ultra) - Supercharging or turbocharging, it used to be a Buick trademark - Names that have their roots in Buick history not "masturbation" in French. Purely informational for those of you in the market for notebooks: based on the reliability of my Inspiron, I'd advise you to definitely give Dell's competitors a good look. I recently found that the model I own is the victim of a design defect - I now have to replace my hard drive and processor after 13 months of ownership. The cause of this - which I am sure is common with all notebooks (to a certain degree) - relates to an excessively hot battery and a lack of some heat barrier. Unfortunately, my battery was not covered in that massive recall nor has Dell felt the need to notify owners. This diagnosis was made by an on-site Dell tech, who also stated that this is a…

Oldsmobile introduced its racy, 375-h.p. Toronado, first U.S. car with front-wheel drive since the Cord phased out in 1937. Some foreign automakers, notably France's Citroën, also market front-wheel cars.
