Two year later I'm still waiting for a 5th gen. Camaro. When I opened up my copy of R&T and saw this I almost fell out of my Chair. I was working at Chevrolet of Lowell at the time as a salesman. I took it as a sign that within a few months, or certainly a year a ground up 5th gen. retro-69 Camaro would be hitting the streets. Meantime here it is Sept. 2005 and still nothing. Thank You Ramones. :)

Rain rain & more rain... makes for a wet & damp roadtrip. As some of you know I attended a Nissan Club Meet at the Grafton Lakes State Park, NY this past weekend. It was raining when I left Mass, it rained the WHOLE time I was there and rained even heavier on the way back. Western Mass & NY better have some sick May Flowers this year, that's all I have to say. The Meet was fun but the cars and events were dismal. The lack of attendance was chalked up to the crappy weather but the people who did show up were cool so it was a fun roadtrip. As it turned out, most of the guys there were from Altimas.net but the mix of cars was pretty hilarious. 3…

Went on a nice little bike ride with the wife, she got ultra competitive, I tried to keep up. Luckily this time there was no ledge to ride off, only rocks to ride into. I'd much rather have a chunk of skin missing than more broken bones. I need a suit of bubble wrap.

OK, this is the current condition of these 2 rides. The finned wonder is my '59 Invicta, the other is my brother's '71 GTO 4-spd. I am head of him in the process: all metal work is completed and in epoxy primer, and the shell is back on the refurbished frame. Front & RR suspension is done, as is my rear axle. I also have a bunch of the new parts, and a bunch of cosmetically restored parts. My brother may or may not be done with metal repair- I think the floors still need work. Also, his frame is untouched yet, but there is a TON more repro parts available for the '71. He also has 2 lifts at his house We have an unofficial bet on which gets their car done first.…

Soon the Suburban will be sold and then soon after that (hopefully) I can sell the V12 Mercedes Benz and I will be ONCE again buying yet another vehicle or two, or three.... depending on how things out of my control turn out. --- So here's a quick recap before I continue: --- I've owned / daily driven almost three dozen GM cars over the past 14 years. Mostly big, V8 powered boats from the 1970s & 1980s, one 1968 Camaro, a few Chevrolet trucks, a couple 1960s classics, and one 1950s land yacht with tail fins big enough for a V2 rocket. Then there's a few demolition derby cars: four FoMoCos, two Mazdas & one Volvo 240 Everyone here probably remembers …

I know that LSx engines get stronger as they get less "green," but I've never heard of them getting better gas mileage as well. When I got the GTO with about 6k miles on it, I got 13.3.-13.5MPG consistently on each tank. Then one tank I averaged 14.1MPG and was presently surprised. That went on for a couple tanks, and then the last tank I got 14.6MPG. I thought maybe I was just babying it more than I used to, but now more than 3/4 of the way through the current tank I'm getting 15.1MPG and am definetly not babying it all the time. Anyone ever heard of the LS1 increasing performance AND gas mileage over time? This is also interesting because the Alero which is 700lb…

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com C&G Hottest Rides List! The goal here is to have members post what they would have on a list of hottest rides. Anything is a go, yet with that said I would like you to look into your own history of auto's and what you feel would be respectable rides. Today at work, a jerk contractor who is a client for a build-out went off on me for 15 minutes. On M and W, I go in at 6:30 and leave at 3:30 for an evening class I take. He started at 3:12 and it ended at 3:27 pm. What he screamed about was petty. He's this cocky ex-jock type of jerk now in construction management (kind of a typical path, actually) who was pissed because there were 4 minor misinterpretations of what he wanted in his documents. I had an answer for every one of them. I was even big enough to admit I made my own interpretation on some that I didn't know how they would fly. He cooled a little but, in the 2 years I've been at this firm, or in any archi…

Ok, so lightning struck the house and blew a bunch of $h! up. Ok, now after the idiot moved out, I moved kiddos computer into the living room so we could be together more, but didn't hook up the surge strip, stupid I know. Well, it blew up. I thought the the monitor was good cause it powered up and the bulb was good and the 7.1 speakers made noise when I was unhooking them so I assumed they survived. I had no way to test the speakers because of the 7.1, they have 4 cables to plug into the sound card and the monitor is DVI, and my lappy doesn't have DVI. So anyway, I made a insurance claim for the stuff that was toast. Got the check and ordered him a Dell …

I collaborated with a friend on two songs recently while I try to figure out what I'm going to do about my home studio dilemma. We tracked down a bunch of loops, chopped them up, threw them back together, added a touch of WTF, and came up with what you hear here: http://0023916.bandcamp.com/ Not totally original, I don't think. Well, about as original as an art collage, which is to say there is originality in how things are used. We made due with what we had. It isn't completely boring, though, like some of the stuff you hear coming from people who a.) can't properly arrange music and b.) don't understand anything at all about theory and c.) can only use pre-made samples…

Corvette Racing's Future Depends on Aston Martin Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | By GARY WATKINS Corvette Racing will confirm its continued participation in the American Le Mans Series--as soon as the Aston Martin Racing team does the same. GM road racing manager Steve Wesoloski even suggested that questions about Chevrolet's 2008 plans should be directed at Prodrive (which runs the Aston team) boss David Richards. "As soon as they announce they are coming back, we'll announce that we'll be back," he said. "I think you should ask that question to David Richards and George Howard-Chappell [who also runs Aston racing]." Wesloski and Corvette program manager Doug…

So we're looking cross-border to save ~20 grand. We've contacted some dealers already but none will play ball because we're Canadian. Even when we say that one of our Amerifriend's can do the purchase, the dealers still clam up. Well Direct TV just put XM on the music channels. I actually use them often through the sterio. So anybody have any favorites ? Im only assuming they are titled the same nationally. Ive been listening to Deep Tracks thats been playing some stuff I forgot all about. Right now Pink Floyd from a BBC recording in 1970, wow, I think Im having a flashback. In the early 70's I used to listen to this station that came out of RPI college in Troy NY, those college students always played this more progressive non commercial music and thats what its like listening to this now. It was like the underground back then.

I looked up the "Special T" T-Type and all I found was that it had a Grand National exterior with a T-Type interior. Anyone know anymore about this like production numbers or what colours they came in. That Regal T-Type outside of my work looks to fit that description except for the fact that it is grey. I believe the guy may know what he has got because it has a T-Type dash pad cover and a sticker on the window with the National 6 logo.

WASHINGTON - From higher electric bills to more expensive gasoline, the possible economic cost of tackling global warming is driving the debate as climate change takes center stage in Congress. Legislation set for Senate debate Monday would require a reduction in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from power plants, refineries, factories and transportation. The goal is to cut heat-trapping pollution by two-thirds by midcentury. With gasoline at $4 per gallon and home heating and cooling costs soaring, it is getting harder to sell a bill that would transform the country's energy industries and — as critics will argue — cause energy prices to rise even more. Autoweek subscribers will know what I'm talking about. Each week, Toyota puts some blatant bulls*it, folksy ad in the magazine, extolling their many virtues. Hehe (I can't stop snickering), this week it's headlined "Bonding on the Trail: Going Off-Road to Find the Spirit of the New FJ Cruiser". "When Toyota decided to move forward with the production of the FJ Cruiser in 2005, it charged the development team with two important missions. The first was to bring young (and dumb?) customers into Toyota showrooms; the second was to reinvigorate the Toyota truck lineup with a vehicle that was fun to drive, stylish and tough (all italics are mine)." "Styling would be ano…

She wanted me to visit a resort in the Poconos Mountains. Just for taking the tour, I'd receive a free flat screen television. So, I asked her if the resort is "clothing optional". She didn't know what that meant, so I said "Do you have to wear clothes when you go there?" She answered "I am not selling anything. I do not know what the question is you are asking." was setting up today..... caught some nice pics of the new GM stuff. more in a bit...... impressions ATS is sharp, looks more egglike in person but extremely dynamic. New XTS is large! Boatlike, between the two new Cadillacs, a very definite shift in design......more egglike, less chiseled, quite futuristic. In ten years one will be able to see how these cars ushered in new design directions Encore - extremely impressed. For the small size it looks robust and substantial. Should be a huge hit with women. New Fusion and Escape - i gotta say, the new Escape could possibly be a miss. I did not like it from the first look. I think folks like the tough boxy look! …

If you haven't explored your area ... driving roads or being a "tourist" to see what you find ... I highly suggest you take time to DO IT. And, yes, that includes myself. I've mentioned before how I explore the back roads west of my home town when I'm driving my Monte Carlos. Apparently, Dubois is riddled with people who can't properly park a vehicle. Whether this is out of inability or just sheer laziness remains to be seen... This CRV driver just left it parked halfway on the lane, partially in two separate Handicapped spaces. This Explorer driver wasn't satisfied with a single parking spot and clearly needed all four spaces. To be fair, this guy was still in his vehicle... and happened to be a 2015 Tahoe with M plates. The real question is why he was in Dubois, of all places...

Cat Stevens - Father and Son It's not time to make a change, Just relax, take it easy. You're still young, that's your fault, There's so much you have to know. Find a girl, settle down, If you want you can marry. Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy. I was once like you are now, and I know that it's not easy, To be calm when you've found something going on. But take your time, think a lot, Why, think of everything you've got. For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not. How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again. It's always been the same, same old story. From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen. Now there's a way a…

Dear Internal Revenue Service: Enclosed you will find my 2005 tax return showing that I owe $3,407.00 in taxes. Please note the attached article from the USA Today newspaper; dated 12 November, wherein you will see the Pentagon (Department of Defense) is paying $171.50 per hammer and NASA has paid $600.00 per toilet seat. I am enclosing four (4) toilet seats (valued @ $2,400) and six (6) hammers valued @ $1,029), which I secured at Home Depot, bringing my total remittance to $3,429.00. Please apply the overpayment of $22.00 to the "Presidential Election Fund," as noted on my return. You can do this inexpensively by sending them one (1) 1.5" Phillips Head screw (se…

Spent several hours this afternoon at the annual B-J event...was a sunny 75 degree day in dusty Scottsdale. Indoors, the new car displays from Ford, Chrysler, and GM were impressive--- lots of new Mustangs in a variety of trim levels--GTs, Shelbys, Boss 302s, and aftermarket tuners versions....really liked the MKZ, first I'd seen in person..nice interior, really interesting exterior design, esp. the rear. Loved the various SRT Mopies (Challenger, Charger, 300, JGC)...saw the new Viper for the first time, very impressed. At the GM stand, the new Silverado looked quite good in longbed crew cab form in a taupe color. The Hot Wheels Camaro SS was fun. Chec…

So I picked this album up, and I think it's an awesome effort. I suppose I'm a bit biased, because I'm a huge Kelly Hansen fan because of his previous band Hurricane, and his stint in Unruly Child, as well as being involved in a bunch of tribute albums. Jeff Pilson's involvement as bassist, and backing vocals only seals the deal. How about the rest of you? Awesome effort? Or is it nothing without Lou?

I know GM has made some 10 bad mistakes in the past: 1.Arrogance. 2.The Phase Out Of Oldsmobile. 3.The Addition of SAAB. 4.Pontiac,BUICK,GMC dealers(how about Pontiac,Chevrolet Dealers, GMC,Hummer and Buick,Cadillac Dealers?) 5.Bad styling. 6.The AZTEK. 7.GEO Prisim/Toyota Corolla/Pontiac Vibe. 8.Lack of investment in Saturn Products(post 1996). 9.Over Compensation. 10.Layoffs. But can these be reversed? Some Maybye, others, no. I get a chuckle every time I hear Pontiac,Buick,GMC dealers. Maybye its that Pontiac is associated with Buick, and that could draw away customers from the Octogenarians choice, and Hummer with Cadillac? I mean, when I think o…

Just to clarify for the one or two who did not get it, the remark about insta-banning PINGAS meme posters for being "trolls" was a joke, an example of dry humor. I was pretty sure that anyone remotely paying attention since, oh, about 2002 would have figured out that I have a very dry sense of humor, but apparently not. Is PINGAS no longer funny? Oh, absolutely. It is played out beyond belief, as I and numerous other posters have pointed out. BUT--insta-banning PINGAS offenders was just NOT a serious suggestion. I'm well aware that this site has a process of raising a "warning level" in 20% increments, imposing posting approval, temporary time outs from posting, and…

The in-line edition of Autoweek had an interview article with Gary Convis, of Toyota about their application of a diesel option in a Tundra. In addition the following pieces of news were included. By RICHARD TRUETT | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS 6:00 am, September 20, 2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Could Toyota break with 50 years of business practices and go outside the company for an engine? It's not out of the question for the diesel engine being planned for the new generation of Toyota's Tundra pickup. Production of that vehicle begins next month, but Toyota has not said when a diesel opti…

Congratulations to Jamie McMurray! He drove a Chevrolet Impala to victory in an oft-delayed Daytona 500, holding off an unbelievable late-race charge by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who came in 2nd in another Chevrolet. Jamie's tearful victory interview was touching and real. It was the first race I've watched in a long time. I don't remember there being so many good looking folks involved in the sport. It makes me want to get caught up in it again, something I haven't done since Dale Sr.'s death, and the new rules seem geared toward more exciting racing.

Love that H.O. This car speaks to me... I love it. Even for 1937 it's very unique. 1937 Bizzare but very interesting.... I'd love to own this Caddy! NOt as much as I'd love a V16 though. 1938 Another rare classic.... that grille is so unconformist, I love it! 1939

All right, I threw this idea at Fly this morning as to whether or not there should be a "how-to" sub-forum in the Tech Section thread for all of us who do our own repair work, or those of us that would like to get started, but are unsure of what to do. Its just an idea, but I'd like to get some real feedback on this one because I would love to be able to post repair proceedures and pictures and stuff like that so's I can help out my fellow C&G'ers when it comes to repairs and in general fixin' stuff.

Some friends and I took a trip to the fine country of Canada this weekend. We hit up Winnipeg and a few towns in between and a had a great time while doing it. On the way home we took the long way, through a lot of small towns in Southern Manitoba. One thing I happened to notice is that in a lot of these small towns close to the border, there are a lot of nice, new homes (and quite a few being built) and what looks to be a lot of successful small businesses. A ton different compared to the small towns of the same size just across the border in North Dakota. People on average don't build new homes on the North Dakota side of the border unless it is in a town of at lea…

Basically, more things that resulted from boredom. As I was having a photo shoot of myself, haha, I played around with a few colored plastic film-things for my strobe light as well as a lense for my LED flashlight. Took some images of things in my room and of my Grand Am. Yes, I still have it, obviously. *sigh* I also played around in Photo Impression with a few. Also... here's a Grand Prix GXP I played around with.

John K. Teahen Jr. Automotive News November 26, 2007 - 12:01 am ET I've read it in the newspapers; I've heard it on the radio; I've seen it on TV. It's great news, the best in years. But I don't believe it. The headlines say, "Detroit 3 back on track" and "New contract puts Detroit back in the ballgame." Not quite. Not by a long shot. I'm not knocking the new labor contracts. They're excellent, and they certainly will help General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC as they claw their way back toward respectability. The contracts cut Detroit's manufacturing, overhead and labor costs. I hope they will help GM, Ford and Chrysler overcome their staggering…
