I work a ridiculous amount of hours, but I also squeeze in 2 grad courses at night during the semester. Yeah, nuts is the word. Next week, on the semester system, is Spring Break so I ONLY have to go to my full-time day job. Each "book-end" weekend to the break is therefore "free." I'm going hot springing this weekend and to Las Vegas next Friday / Saturday / Sunday (I am itching for some sun and warm temperatures). Las Vegas is so relaxing ... and you can have the best time without even putting a quarter in a slot machine (poolside, Lake Mead, cheap abundant food, entertainment). What are any of you doing/where are any of you going?

So of course a tomcat got to her and knocked her up... she was a homeless little girl in trouble. They put food out for her, but didn't let her back inside any more. She's been hopping over from their deck to mine from time to time if she knows my door is open. She'd been trying to get into my house. I've been petting her and being nice to her, but I didn't want to let her in. I had the door open this morning, she heard me through the screen door, so she hopped over and started crying he…

So on target with specifically what this industry and specifically GM needs to accomplish to be successful. I have to say while watching the show I was overwhelmed with each and every point made during the discussion. Its taken me three times of listening and I am still learning more and more about what Bob Lutz’s statements contain. I really am looking forward to June when I can buy Bob Lutz’s new book “The Car Guys vers the Bean Counters” The Battle for the Soul of American Business. 14. Have gas prices already started affecting used SUV/Truck pricing? March 6th 2011 - Drew Dowdell - CheersandGears.com According to GasBuddy.com, the national average for gasoline has spiked from $3.12 per gallon to $3.49 per gallon between February 16th and March 6th. As some of you know, I keep an eye on prices for used Chevrolet Avalanches and Oldsmobile Bravadas. I am already noticing a drop in pricing on just these two models. For example, an '05 Avalanche with 63,000 miles and leather near me has an asking price of just $17,999. Six months ago, an Avalanche with that equipment would be over $20k used. Higher mileage examples have fallen from the $17k range to …

Now I am stuck with some songs stuck in my head. Any other 70-80's band you think were talented. Also vinyl record's seem to have a unique audio tone that has never been masted by digital technology but CD's Are 10000000000 times better then vinyl's could ever be.

She asked what I'd like for her to bring me back, and I couldn't really think of anything until this morning. Depending on what brand of GM vehicles are sold there (i.e. Vauxhall, Opel), I'd like a brochure from them (I'm a cheap person to get gifts for at times). She'll have time to tour the city and will be taken around by someone she knows from Denmark that comes to the States often at her work, so they should know where to find these dealerships. As we sit here, a dedicated group of GM enthusiasts, blissfully waiting for the new Camaro among other great products, the curtain is being drawn on us. These new CAFE requirements are ever closer to reality, and they will kill any chance for auto enthusiasts to get what they want. Why hasn't anyone mentioned this? By ignoring this coming apocalypse, are we hoping it will go away and our lives will not change? This is a huge blow to so many things automotive we hold dear as Americans. By imposing these ridiculous standards on cars AND light trucks, they are forcing the car companies to kill pickup trucks with work capacity... cars with passenger capacity and any kin…

  30. Automotive News December 24, 2007 - 12:01 am ET "Bigger is better" is dead. True, that marketing philosophy has proved lucrative for the better part of a century. Americans like big cars and trucks and big powertrains to haul them. But now that Congress has passed a 35-mpg corporate average fuel economy standard, that philosophy is obsolete. Automakers must prepare consumers for some big changes. The industry must show the public what the future will look like. Vehicles will shrink, and engines won't be quite so large. But with the right mix of styling, technology and performance, marketers still can create excitement. Yes, it will force some new thinking amo…

  63. Automotive paint schemes you like.... Loved the old red white and blue of the old AMC stuff.... I am still a sucker for 1950's two tone....and Ford Crown Vics. They look great as mild customs too! Perhaps my all time favorite car/color combination is the iris color Pontiac offered on the 1965 GTO! In my opinion, 65 GTO rates just behind the 1958-1962 Corvettes as just about the ultimate GM car ever.

Do you guys know about this: BABE2007? Cars must cost or be valued at $250 or less ... and must have all relevant state safety inspection stickers, and insurance, and be able to pass police spot checks. It sounds like a real blast.

  65. So when was the last time you saw the Blue Angels fly or Hydroplane boats race? This weekend, Seattle is having their Annual Hydroplane boat races on Lake washington and the Blue Angels show Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Temps are to be in the low to mid 80's with about 20% humidity. http://www.seafair.com/default.aspx?SecID=915 The blue angels are doing their practice runs right now so Seattle is a Sonic Boom zone. Having grown up here in Washington, I cannot ever imagen summer without the boat races and the blue angels. I loved the roar of the piston powered Hydroplane boats, Have gotten used to the Turbine powered boats, but still enjoy the morning heats when the pi…

  67. I subscribed to Collectible Automobile magazine for years. They do a nice job with their photos and the info in the text. Now I just buy the issues containing vehicles I am really interested in. . I snagged the current issue yesterday off the magazine rack. It features full-sized Oldsmobiles from 1971-'76. Some nice pix accompanying the article, including a '72 98 Regency just like the car I had up into 1978. Also some really nice pix of a '56 DeSoto Fireflite.

So, with some life changes coming up, I am car shopping. I'm looking in the $25k range +/- a grand. Since the number of miles could potentially swing wildly opposite of what I do now (Less than 5k a year on my own car), I'm looking at high(er) mpg options, but a lower priced car that doesn't get the best mpg but has other convincing options is on the table too. I don't really want to go any smaller than Cruze/Verano Here's what I'm looking at so far: Passat TDI/DSG/Sunroof - about $25k after current incentives Cruze Diesel - $26k Verano Leather Group + sunroof - $26k 200 V6 + sunroof and upper UConnect - $20k after current incentives (Used) 300 V6 + 8speed + UConne…

  77. SEATTLE - Officially, it’s the South Lake Union Streetcar. But in the neighborhood where the new line runs, it’s called the South Lake Union Trolley — or, the S.L.U.T. At Kapow! Coffee, a shop in the old Cascade neighborhood, 100 T-shirts bearing the words “Ride the S.L.U.T.” sold out in days, and another 100 are on order. “We’re welcoming the S.L.U.T. into the neighborhood,” said Jerry Johnson, 29, a part-time barista. Some claim — incorrectly, according to representatives of Vulcan Inc., the company that is developing the area — that South Lake Union Trolley was the original name and that it was changed when officials belatedly realized the acronym. The $50.5 millio…

I'm looking at buying a new desktop very soon (planning on getting GTA IV when it comes out for PC) and have been looking at Gateway 9500's and 9100e's. The systems I have looked at are AMD quad cores with 3 gigs of memory, about 640 gigs hard drive space, but they have pretty weak video cards. They're refurbished and price about $400-600. I haven't yet looked at Dell or HP. What's some good bang for the buck for PC performance? I'd be willing to upgrade the video card and power supply if I go the refurbished route, but is there anything new that is worth looking at. I don't want to spend more than $800-900.

Prostate cancer affects more men than any other cancer, taking the lives of 307,000 men each year. That number is surpassed by 500,000 men dying from suicide. That's 807,000 men every year. This is a number that must change. Please reach out and give what you can; help support me on my ride by going to https://gfolk.me/DrewDowdell and donating. Thank you, Drew.

  86. OK, this is a crazy question. All of my college training deals is ultra-pratical -- how things go together and how to look at/evaluate money. Society stereotypes certain jobs as male (miner) and certain jobs as female (make-up artist), for example. Is there an occupation typical of the other gender that you could do, or would do? Since I asked the question, I'll go first. I practically live at Borders or Barnes and Noble, so I could have been a librarian (work with books and information all day, and get paid for it). It's far from my first occupational choice, but it's the only one that comes to mind that is not a male dominated field, not by a long shot. But …

Well, yesterday was an interesting day for me automotively speaking, as I drove a dream car: The BMW M5 with the 500 Horse V10 and SMG transmission - in short, it is a wonderful and engaging car to drive. Sebring silver over black leather with the suede headliner - so much leather I felt I was in an S and M shop -er...not that I would know...just what I have seen on t.v.! We were looking at a Used BMW 750 that my dad is very interested in (mom hates the XLR - she cannot get comfortable in it with her bad back) and she loves the BMW 7-series. So when we finished looking at the 7, I was sitting in the new Z4 and my son asked me if this is the car I would drive on this …

  92. I was thinking about the consistency with which I liked GM brands. I was looking through a classic Pontiac magazine at Borders last night. Pontiacs had the most interesting styling, both externally and internally. - My Dad's 70 LeMans coupe (with an inline six) looked better than Cutlass/Skylark/Malibu of the same year. - Except for 77-78, I always liked the Firebird over the Camaro. - The 70s and 80s Cutlass Supremes were cleaner, but the Grand Prix and Grand Le Mans had commendable Pontiac grilles and dashboards. - Pontiac put out nicer full-sizes in the 70s and 80s than did the competition, particularly in 75 and 76 when the Grand Ville and Bonneville sporte…

Let's share stories about the state of the infrastructure in the state you live. In this case I'm going to point out the state of bridges in Massachusetts (and some in NH near the border). As of 2008, there were 543 bridges that were structurally deficient "due to years of neglect" in Massachusetts. The state was forced to initiate an emergency rehabilitation and/or replacement program to get these bridges back up to code. Link Here's example of just what I have personally seen/see every day (except the bridges opening up). In Methuen they had to do major structure renovations to the the bridge which goes over 213, and had to close the whole bridge down to do it. Sever…
