Interesting fabric option on the '75 Cadillac Calais. Probably in the context of the times it's not unusual considering everyone was wearing plaid pants at the time. Can you imagine a luxury car of today daring to do this?!

Disturbia It is one of those few films that is so much more than one that is meant to be scary, and at PG13, I am afraid that too many people would let this slip off from their radars as any sort of a "must see". Within the first 15 minuted of this film I laughed, cried *honestly*, felt rage, and sympathy. One is able to see how the characters are developed as one is introduced to them, learn about them, and see how they change. I would highly recommend seeing this production, but make sure you take someone with you, otherwise, the opening sequence is very hard.

What are your New Year's Eve and New Year's Day Traditions? Since I am starting this off, I will tell you what Mine are, been the same for the last 26 years of Marriage. I am married to a Korean and they have very specific things that are done. We start off with a Korean Pot sticker making party in the first week of Dec. Make hundreds, people who help get some to take home, most are kept for use in what is called Korean New Year's Day Soup. We then start on the 26th and make a ton of homemade Beef broth with flank steak in it that is then shredded. We also make a wide variety of Korean side dishes from scratch. This takes multiple days as to why we …

I had a really odd (to me at least) dream a couple of nights ago. I met BV! I have no idea where it came from because usually my dreams have something that relates to something that I know of or have experienced recently or in the past, and here I am, hanging out and getting along with someone that I have never even me before. Anyway, just thought I'd share this bizarre occurence with the rest of you (rest being as in not myself only). Anyone else have some totally random dream that one doesn't know where it came from?

I don't know WTF is going on but I have not gone a week in the past few months without having a really freeky and whacked out nightmare. Last night I found myslef in the elaborate Baroque Dinning room of a Serial Killer. He had one of those fancy James Bond style multi purpose canes and was telling me how I was going to meet a violent death. When he said something about hurting my family though I just snapped and somehow got in a mortal wound on him with a fancy knife that was carefully placed on the table in one of dozens of elaborate place settings. It seemed like there was a good three minutes of my dream (nightmare) where I ended up cutting his neck so badly wi…

The following is part of what greeted friends/family in an Email sent about 8:15p (central) on January 6, 2003: Hard to believe it has been 4 years since that Email was sent. A lot has changed (including Joy's boyfriend becoming her husband) ... some things have stayed the same. In a couple months (March), it'll be 20 years since my second open heart surgery, which was 9 months before my then-best-friend died 2 days after Christmas of an asthma attack. And, later this year, it'll be 30 years since my first open heart surgery. Thanks to (and despite) these anniversaries, life continues to be good ! Its October, that means playoff baseball. As much as I hate to admit it, the Cardinals look pretty good. But here is how I see it going: NLDS Cardinals over Padres in 3 (Peavy is done, Padres have no shot) Astros over Braves in 4 (Kyle Farnsworth blows a save or two, just like when he was a Cub) ALDS White Sox over Red Sox in 4 (I never thought I would say that, but the Chi Sox whooped up today) Angels over Yankees in 5 (This one will go the distance, the Angels are the better team) NLCS Astros over Cardinals in 7 (Look at that staff, Petitte has dominated in the second half) ALCS Angels over White Sox in 6 (Sorry, not Chi-towns year) World Series Astros over Angel…

Now that I financed the 2006 GMC Envoy SLT, I am motivated to act quickly on getting a plate all of my own. We've all seen car crash tests, so here is a video of locomotive crash tests. Turn your volume down if you don't wish to hear cheesy disco music These locomotive crash tests were performed in the 1980s after a series of fatal (to the engineer) crashes. The DOT wanted to see how different cab designs reacted in various crash scenarios. They were also testing for something called "climbing"... that is when the impacting vehicle climbs up and over the impacted vehicle. one of the results of these tests where the "safety cabs" we see on virtually all modern freight locomotives. Apparently it made such a difference to the safety of the crew, that when older locomotive…

He's trading up from a 2002 SL2 with 34,5xx miles worth about $6,000 trade-in on KBB. I know Saturn is advertising a... Some questions since I've never physically purchased a Saturn nor dealt with leases myself: 1) Would a large up front amount positively affect the montly lease payments, i.e. $5,000 vs $2669? 2) Think a Saturn retailer has some wiggle room for a demonstrator XR (I know they have one) or a more well-equipped XE ($22-23k) to work it down to ~$200/mo? Any other lease/Saturn-specific advice would similarly rock. I really sold him on liking the car, so this is just the next step. Thanks!

I've mentioned this before, but I recently moved to Washington DC to start work. Today I decided to go to the Pentagon City Fashion Centre, which is a gigantic mall next to the Pentagon (duh). As I was about to turn into the parking garage, I noticed a black sign propped up in the median saying "Cadillac Event" with an arrow pointing straight. Obviously, I had to check out what it was. I drove to the other side of the block to discover 3 big Cadillac tents and a bunch of SRXs and competing cars parked on the side of the road. I discover that GM is hosting a "drive the SRX against the X5, RX, and GLK" day, and as long as you have a license you're free to drive each one …

Haven't had a good food thread in a while. I was reading the paper the other day and came across a recipe for deep dish pizza, which caught my eye because, as a native Chicagoan, I hold deep dish pizza to a very high standard and haven't had anything good around here. I decided to make it this morning even though I didn't have all of the proper equipment, like a mixer with a dough hook so I had to spend the better part of an hour playing with the dough, but it was totally worth it. I didn't do anything fancy with the innards since I was mainly concerned with getting the crust right. In the end it turned out great, would have been better if I had been more concerned wi…

I found this gray 2006 Monte Carlo LS with 35,300 miles on it near Chicago about 200 miles away from me. I like the price 8,500 and the miles but has a bump/scrape on the bumper I could get over in the mean time and get fixed. Here is the vin can someone do me a huge favor and find out the deal with this car? VIN- 2G1WJ15K469169372 please print the screen (control print screen, or email me the page or summarize it) it would be very helpful. I will also get another 100 off so that brings it down to 8,400 bucks. Hopefully more. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance I know someone on here can run a Carfax for me....

C&D got their hands on a new 2017 Encore. Here is the link- 2017 Buick Encore Test A fairly positive review. So let's assume you are shopping for a small, but fairly nice personal car to commute to work and back in. Reasonably priced and efficient, but nice and well-equipped. Base price is $27,385, and as-tested was $29,080. Rules- 1) Your choice must be a NEW on-sale now 2016 or 2017 model. 2) You are limited to sub-compact CUV's or compact NON-PERFORMANCE hatchbacks for this one. So no Rav4/Escape/CR-V or GTI/FocST. 3) You are allowed choice of drivetrains- FWD or AWD. 4) MSRP on your choice MUST be AT LEAST $27,000, …

So there is a thread asking where the other countries are as far as hurricane support. Other countries? Where the hell were we? Finally today, after 4 days of reeeeeally bad conditions, federal help in the form of Nat’l guard convoys with food and water start flowing in. Areas have literally be reduced the status of third world countries and it took 4 days. People really are dying in the streets. Does this administration plan anything at all? How many days were meteorologists saying one of the biggest storms of all time is coming? Logic would tell you that you’d want to have responders staged and ready to go. OK so that wasn’t done. People asked today “what took you so l…

Into a... The Ram got a bit irritating both as a vehicle and in the mileage department (14.5mpg average over 280mi). Early impressions of this Freestyle are that its roomy, very comfortable, puts out respectable performance, and gives a nice view of the road without being perched too high. Nissan needs to reverse engineer this CVT because its surprisingly smoooooth and graceful in performance, not curiously 'hunting' like the Murano. Designwise, like a depressed Taurus wagon, but not too bad at all. On a humorous note, the guy I always deal with at Enterprise mentioned he also had two Sonatas and then quickly said, "But I wouldn't do that to you guys. Those things are…

Ok, now after the idiot moved out, I moved kiddos computer into the living room so we could be together more, but didn't hook up the surge strip, stupid I know. Well, it blew up. I thought the the monitor was good cause it powered up and the bulb was good and the 7.1 speakers made noise when I was unhooking them so I assumed they survived. I had no way to test the speakers because of the 7.1, they have 4 cables to plug into the sound card and the monitor is DVI, and my lappy doesn't have DVI. test drove an 08 Magnum again yesterday and remembered why i like them as much as I do. I'm getting sick of driving in tall cars and want something low slung again. And the utility, yeah. The way the clamshell hatch opens, perfect for getting to your cargo. With the 08 interior updates in tan, a livable interior! Not a vessel of death! And just when i might like it, they kill it. Good values on the lot, BTW. Very affordable. Really also makes a good case for the cool wagons like the CTS wagon and G8 wagon.

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts-Amherst is planning to let a convicted terrorist give a speech at the school. A convicted domestic terrorist whose scheduled speech at the University of Massachusetts was canceled has been reinvited to campus by a faculty group against the objections of school administration. The group was a violent anti-government group linked to more than 20 bombings along the east coast, including the Suffolk County courthouse back in 1976. Delta, the No. 3 U.S. airline, which earlier this year said it did not have enough cash to meet its liquidity needs in 2005, filed for protection in U.S. bankruptcy court in the Southern District of New York. "The action we have taken is a necessary and responsible step to preserve Delta's value for our creditors, customers, employees, business partners and other stakeholders," said Delta Chief Executive Gerald Grinstein in a release. Finally back from Carlisle. Got the car there ok, just had to re-wash it thanks to the rain. Then I got stuck (parked -in) at the registration area for at least an hour and a half. Finally got out and did a quick round through the grounds, got some good pics. Then, I got the call that the NOS hood for the camino had finally showed after over a month of waiting- and it is a complete piece of $hit. Bent and dented and even rusted-through in a few spots! I'm not happy. Now to get something to eat and take care of the dogs. I'll post some pics later.

Is there a difference between fiberglass handles & wood handles on body hammers? I was looking at these two sets and was trying to decide which one to get. http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/p-11665-14367.aspx http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/p-10861-13305.aspx

So, its Friday at 4:30PM and its been raining since, oh, say, 10:00PM on Thursday. Visibility is less than a mile and the sky is still pouring torrents of rain. You come upon an intersection that is flooded out with perhaps two and a half feet of water. You're driving a Toyota Celica. Do you... A) Go as far around it as you can. B ) Stop, wait for the flood to subside. C) Stop, make a U-turn, seek an alternate route. D) Drive right through it because, hey, if the National Guard 6x6 in front if you made it, you can too! Some chick chose D and became the fifth of eight cars I saw flooded out today. One was a spankin' new Mercedes CLS with the window sticker still on it…

A Malibu wagon please. 1. Don't try to go the Dodge route and load it up with testosterone, just a wagon of the existing car please. 2. Make the 4cylinder/6speed option available You already have a great interior, something the Magnum never had. You'd be the only one on the market except the Mazda 6 and that one is going away. You'd have a great stepping down point from the larger CUVs and SUVs for families that finally realize they don't need so much car. You could tout it being cooler than a mini-van, more efficient than an SUV/CUV and able to haul just about as much stuff.

From 2006 Britain will be the first country where every journey by every car will be monitored Britain is to become the first country in the world where the movements of all vehicles on the roads are recorded. A new national surveillance system will hold the records for at least two years. Using a network of cameras that can automatically read every passing number plate, the plan is to build a huge database of vehicle movements so that the police and security services can analyse any journey a driver has made over several years. The network will incorporate thousands of existing CCTV cameras which are being converted to read number plates automatically night and …

full story here Frank Oresnik is on the verge of making history driving his old standby — the pickup truck he says is about to pass the 1 million mile mark. Oresnik took the 1991 Chevrolet Silverado to the Oil Ex-Change Quick Lube in Medford on Thursday for what he expects will be its last oil change and tuneup before hitting the magic number. He said the truck is 1,200 miles from a million, and once he hits the mark he will retire the vehicle. "I feel almost like the longtime NFL player as he goes into his last training camp knowing this is the end," Oresnik said. He credits proper maintenance and a good measure of luck for allowing the truck to rack up so many…

This last weekend I went shoping with daughter #4 for her first new car. Like most people in her postion (and mine) money is important. My plan was to get a Chevy Cobalt LS with automatic transmission utilizing the almost $3000 GM card rebate. The test drive was ok, perhaps a lttile underwhelming to me. My daughter didn't like it all saying that it seemed like a rental car. I have no idea where she learned that expression. Things got worse as the nice, industrious young man who was helping us (3.5 weeks on the job) introduced us to his sales manager. Oh my God! What an obnoxious slimey, iley character he was. Slight of build and full of the strangest facial expres…

I have no idea how much this costs. Probably alot. Like, more than Camino wants for his cars I'd assume... Phoenix 1000 @ US Subs Think about it - mess with Fillipino pirates, provoke the Russian Navy - all good potential fun.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil%27s_Night Who had this where they grew up? The article says it's primarily around Detroit, but I definately experienced it growing up in Ontario. It was the night you could egg the house of the bully you hated. So, who else is familiar with it?

I'm looking for a possible replacement for the Roadmaster. If you recall, it isn't actually mine. I go on ebay and place check marks for "Wagon" "Manual transmission" "4cylinder" "5cylinder" (gotta remember the volvos.... The most interesting entries are: Ford Escort L Wagon Diesel Ford Pinto Wagon complete with porthole window in back 1971 Datsun 510 Wagon Dodge Omni GLSH Clone with a Shelby engine from a Daytona Oh sure there's a bunch of Subarus, Saabs, and Volvos.... but I need to drive a car that really makes a statement... you know... like a quad color 1996 Roadmaster Wagon does....

I signed up for an environmental class that dealt with environmental planning and stuff along those lines. I originally took it because it actually sounded kind of interesting and I was genuinely interested in the subject, but I dropped it like a yesterday's news, mostly because I realized I was taking too many credits (18) along with having an independent project and going to work about 15 hours a week. Just too much stuff to juggle. There were some real strong opinions in that class...polar opposite too. On one hand, you had the conservative ag/forestry/civil engineering kids and on the other you had the liberal political science/environmental studies/design kids. …
