  1. Here is what was in the Pratt and Miller Hauler going to Laguna this weekend. This is for sure not a C6R. It might be interesting to if Chevy takes a few laps in a ZR-1 for the crowd before the race to show a little Street Power. I can only imagine what the Vette team may have cooked up so it may be worth watching. Also from our friends at Badboyvettes.com they got to do the graphics this week on the cars. The web sight is the unoffical racing fan sight for the team [i suspect many of the Pratt & Miller team members are on the site]. Any way the race team mascot Jake [the skull] is on both race cars this week. Jake is normally on the bumpers but he gets the…

The next-gen Silverado Hybrid is expected to go on sale a year from now. General Motors co-developed Two-Mode Hybrid technology with Daimler|Chrysler and BMW. It's more capable and versatile than the parallel hybrid technology it replaces. The original Silverado Hybrid was considered mild beca…

F bodfather Scott Settlmire speaks: Finally -- a word about the recent blogs out there -- Yes-- the Camaro will have a key. (versus pushbutton start) Yes -- it will be a model year 2010 -- but we have not moved the 'start-up' date. We'll start building Camaros in the 4th quarter of 2008 -- and they'll be in dealerships in the first quarter of 2009. Yes - the new Camaro will have a B-pillar. BUT - it isn't noticable from the outside. Think of a first gen with the rear window in the up position. The rear window will cover the B-pillar and there will be a weatherstrip attached.…

  7. The Ad Campaign You Can't Ignore: Chevy Malibu Sharon Terlep | Link to Original Article @ The Detroit News WARREN -- So much is riding on the new Chevrolet Malibu that General Motors Corp. will back it up with an ad blitz as big as last year's $300 million launch of the top-selling Silverado pickup. The pickup launch went down as one of GM's biggest ad campaigns in history, and now the automaker is vowing similar treatment for its redesigned midsize sedan -- a segment long neglected by Detroit's Big Three. The stakes couldn't be higher for GM and the Malibu, which hits showrooms Nov. 1. The sedan is the automaker's most critical launch in years at a time when more f…

I have never experienced an automotive company, including my three years at BMW, that has so much passion for excellence and dedication to the product. It’s contagious. Engines: It is unclear whether both Chevy Zeta's will share the same engine lineup, but three engines will be offered in all. The 3.5L V6 (perhaps as a fleet engine for the Impala?), 3.6L V6, and 6.2L V8. At this time, there is nothing else planned (for the first model year at least). 18 inch wheels appear to be standard, while 19s and 20s (20s being available in 2 different widths) will be optional. Most likely, the 20s will be standard on the 6.2L model, so that a staggered setup can be run. Putting the power to the ground will be 275 series tires. And I think that's eno…

First, I believe that the Malibu should be the lowest priced midsizer in GM's line-up. So, the Malibu LTZ must not surpass the Saturn Aura XR's $24,845 nor should the Malibu LS be priced above the Pontiac G6's Base model's $19,345 (Of course the G6's value model will need to be dropped). The LS & LT models come with a 4-speed automatic only and the LTZ model comes with a 6-speed automatic standard. So, How does this look? Malibu LS $17,845 Malibu LT $19,195 Malib…

The Haldex XWD is a robust system, as it can send up to 85% of the engine's power to a single wheel. With the next gen VETTE and KAPPA cars possibly related with KAPPA useing a steal frame (aka todays kappa and base vette) with I4 and V6 power and the VETTE useing a V8 and lighter more advanced aluminum frame (aka ZO6) and other high tech features it could work and cost less then two NEW UNIQUE PLATFORMS. Make that a very little bit of muscle, because the bow-tie brand has seen fit to unleash upon the world the Chevrolet HHR SS, which is, of course, based upon the diminutive HHR trucklet. Where’d A Little Truck Like You Get All Them H…

Chevrolet marketing director Cheryl Catton said Wednesday that advertising and other promotions for the dramatically remade Malibu will rival Toyota Motor Corp.'s campaign last year for the made-over Camry as well as Chevy's investment last year to launch the revamped Silverado pickup truck, GM'…

  68. In the parking lot at my work (near airport in Houston), I saw a bright red, brand new Impala SS rental. I knew it was a rental because of the bar codes on the back windows. I didn't realize GM was selling the V8 W bodies to the rental car companies. I also saw a GXP Grand Prix with the V8 as a rental too not to long ago. Pretty cool actually. I wonder if the average Joe renting one of those is completely shocked when the press the gas down and realize (or maybe not realize) that they're driving a car that can easily run with a $40,000 IS350?

Vice Chairman Bob Lutz told an industry gathering this morning that the auto maker will partner with A123 Systems Inc., one of the biggest battery developers, to develop a lithium-ion battery for the Volt plug-in electric hybrid. The Chevy Volt was a hit last winter when it was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show. The partnership is expected to expedite the development of batteries for plug-in hybrids and other alternative fuel solutions. GM expects to have the battery packs ready this fall and vehicles ready to test in the spring…

2007 Chevrolet Suburban LTZ - 2nd Quarter Update Suburban takes on every challenge By WES RAYNAL AND BOB GRITZINGER | Link to Original Review @ AutoWeek If our long-term Chevrolet Suburban has taught us anything in its first six months in our hands, it is this: Sometimes you find yourself in situations that require hauling huge piles of gear or a boatload of people, or both. In those cases, the Suburban has no peer. Simple, no? For proof that the Suburban is one of the more useful vehicles on the planet (and the most requested in our fleet), consider that we’ve put 17,043 miles on it in just six months. If we keep up that pace, the truck will easily rank in the top fi…

2007 Chevrolet HHR Panel LT Chevy puts an unserved niche in its crosshairs By KEVIN A. WILSON | Link to Original Review @ AutoWeek Thanks to Napoleon Bonaparte, England is often derided as “a nation of shopkeepers.” We’d wager there are far more of them here, though. The American entrepreneurial spirit and the number of small-business owners leave one to wonder why it’s been decades since Detroit built a mass-market panel wagon like the new-for-2007 Chevrolet HHR Panel. When Chrysler showed a panel version of its PT Cruiser in concept form in 2000, we thought the time had come, but the Panel Cruiser never arrived except as an aftermarket treatment. And Chrysler even ha…

66 K HHRs to 60 K PT Cruisers according to sales figures. GM had better keep the HHR retro! HHR is putting VUE, Equinox and the crossovers to shame when it comes to sales. When the HHR has aged, replace it with a version of the Nomad concept vehicles. There is a market for retro vehicles. Nostalgia. HHR is attractive. GM, make a few modest changes but KEEP THE RETRO LOOk!!

  93. Here is the question. Is the Cobalt up to standing door handle to door handle, wheel to wheel with the Mazda 3 and the Civic? We keep talking about price and buy American, but this really is using cost and fear to possibly cover up the fact that the Cobalt is not all it should be. I love the Cobalt and think GM did a great job with updating over the Cavalier. However, I also think that we need an even better small car for GM to compete in this time of $3.29 gas and student loans that take twenty years to pay off. So here goes...this is to be a serious discussion. 1. Where does the Cobalt have it over its competition? and 2. Where should GM best use its crea…
