I have to stop buying stuff mainly because it looks good. This damn thing has reset itself on me about 20 times today and I have no idea what the problem is. It's so damn irritating. I'd kick this thing to the curb if I had the money for a replacement lined up. Maybe it just needs to cool down but it's been grating on my nerves for the past 4 days. For future reference, is there a more dependable brand of router out there?

It's been a rough year......And this came as a major shock.... A good college buddy of mine was killed by a drunk driver early this morning.. Blew right through a red light and hit him at about 65mph...(the guy was majorly speeding) T-boned his Impy on the driver's side....he never had a chance... He was on his way from spending the night visiting a buddy who was on leave... I'm not even sure how to take this right now. This is the THIRD friend I have lost to a drunk driver in 12 years..... His birthday was in a few weeks...but instead I'm helping his parents with the funeral (small family) doing whatever I can... This is real hard......

The nest dream car garage....I had too many rules last time so... I liked to play in the mud and outside as a young kid... 5 vehicles maximum, only rule is must like to play in the dirt or mud. must also be primarily land based vehicles that are wheeled or tracked or designed for land use...so no boats or planes. On the other hand...motorcycles, half tracks, military vehicles, mountain bikes, unicycles with knobby tires, vehicles that operate via rail trough the desert, radio controlled model cars and anything else you might choose is fair game. Just maximum of five choices of things that play well in the mud that you would like to own. No limit on pr…

Ok so yesterday was like any other long day at work, except I was told I could go home early, which I was happy about, since I was tired, and that earlier in the day it felt like there was something stuck in my throat, just irritating it and making me cough. When I got to the parking lot to leave, I spit was felt like a bit of peanut or something out of my mouth. Didn't bother me, but when I got home and was laying down the inside of my cheek started getting caught on my tooth in back, you know like when you bite your tough or inside of your cheek by accident. It kept happening, and so when I felt around in my mouth, I discovered part of my wisdom tooth, which had only ec…

The Year Is: 1983 The year is 1983 and you've bought your first house. She needs a little work and your current ride hasn't really been cutting the mustard when it comes to hauling building materials. A full sized truck won't fit in your garage and you don't want to risk parking in the driveway or street, so you decide a small truck is in order. The only question is, which one? I need a history report on a 1988 Dodge Aries LE. It is for sale at my local Toyota dealer for $200. The salesman who I know pretty well said it was driven by an old lady who died and his buddy bought it. It currently has 41,000 kms according to him but I dont think that is right. It only has a 5 digit odometer so that is what it reads. It does run really nice but it needs new rear struts and the rust needs to be bondoed up. The car what rust proofed except for behind the drivers side passenger door and behind the rear wheels. If someone could PM me if they end up with one. I would really appreciate it. The VIN is 1B3BD46D8JC286776. Thanks. I really appreciate it. This wo…

Since I can't seem to sell the damn thing, I've started riding it the past few days since the weather's been... well... not great, but not cold with temps around 60. It was a relieving experience since life has sucked for the past two months. I had fun. It was extremely muddy, though... the dirt roads were the muddiest I have ever seen them. The one was an absolute mud pit, but they were all mud pits. With practically bald tires, I slid all over the place, but it kept the amount of mud flinging down. So, I was surprised at all the muddier I got. Hmm... muddiest, muddier... are those even words? Anyways, I'll be getting it even more muddy today. Muahahaha...

There's a car that I've seen twice in my life..It's from the 90's I think. Above the beltline is all glass...There are windows within the windows...if that makes sense. From what I remember, the whole top of the car is glass(safety issues?). Anyone have any idea? Here's my "extremely well" drawn diagram:

I love the National Post coverage of this today. Terence Corcoran rails against the stupidity. He quotes the Ontario Environment Minister as saying,"It's the equivalent of taking 200,000 cars off the road." Terence points out that Ontario adds 250k vehicles a year to the road. Isn't it funny that once one loony government (Australia) jumps on the band wagon, others are sure to follow? When I was in Brazil, nobody used incandescent bulbs, most buildings had motion detectors (in our hotel we would often walk into a darkened hallway), yet brown outs were common. Is this what our future holds? I am all for energy conservation, but why are governments in such a "ban…

I wonder if we've all done this, at least to some extent. Someone we know, perhaps love and/or care very much about, or perhaps even just know through media outlets, dies ... and we say "He/she will be missed" and/or "We'll never forget him/her" ... because of how they treated and/or respected us ... and/or changed our life in some way/shape/fashion. But, life continues and, gradually, the feeling of loss lessens. Then, somewhere down the line, you find something or read or see or hear something that, instantaneously, reminds you of that person. For that matter, it doesn't even have to be a death. Maybe it's an old friend with whom we've lost touch ... or an event (s…

Simple question: What were you doing when your car was new? My current family... 1972: I was a year away from making my earthly debut. 1976: I was 3 years old. I welcomed my parents' first Monte Carlo to the family, a 1976 model that I "claimed" as "mine" in later years. I was also a year away from my first open heart surgery. 1979: I welcomed my baby sister to the world. 1981: I finished first grade in the spring; started second grade in the fall. 1987: I was in middle school ... and had to say goodbye to my best friend who died of an asthma attack. Former members... 1988: I finished middle school and entered the world of High School. I first started th…

Today I went to the dealership where I bought my '03 ION Quad Coupe to check out an Astra. The same lady who sold me that car went along for the ride, in a red 3-door manual with no options, priced at $18,400 or so. To sell for that price across town from other more-or-less Delta-based GM small cars, the Astra had to be loaded with "kit", as they say on The Continent, and it is. All of GM's latest safety equipment, including head curtains and Stabilitrak come on this car. Power equipment including central locking, mirrors and dual express-down windows are there as well. Handsome, 17" rims look good on the car, along with foglamps. This car has a lot of standard equ…

So I came home from chilling with a few of my friends earlier tonight going my usual route. No big deal, I could drive home from work in my sleep if I had to (and practically have, many times; same route I take to work, practically). So I'm about two blocks or so away from my neighborhood, it's not quite as dense as the center of town is, but it isn't quite residential. Not so many cars on the road seeing as its about ten or so. I'm doing about forty-five, give or take (probably give). A little farther down the road, on the other side there's this large black dog just trotting down the street, probably not paying any mind to where he's going. Suddenly he just darts out…

First, let me preface this be saying that I am an incoming sophmore and have only had a few encounters with girls. (I have friends that are girls, but no one really can see me as someone in a serious relationship). There's this one girl who I've basically had a crush on for about three years, but have never approached her on the subject. We've been good friends, but that's the thing. We've only been friends. She is all I ever think about and the only person I could see myself with. I try to picture myself with other girls but I just can't. I really, really like her. I'm not sure I'm going to see her next year due differences in course selections. I am not sure w…

Basically, I'm attempting to install my Clarion CD player into the Cutlass. Needless to say, it's ancient wiring has confused me. The simple wiring diagram I have for it doesn't explain what two certain wires are. As well, I don't see where I'm supposed to connect two certain wires on the other end. In this picture, the two wires in question are the brown and orange wires in the connector to the right. In this picture, the GM wire diagram that doesn't explain what those two wires are. In this picture, the Clarion wire diagram that shows the "memory back-up lead" and the "bus power lead". Does anyone know what the brown and orange wires are? I'm thinking they m…

What "gets your attention" but is completely different than what you'd normally go for? In other words, what says "hey, I'm worth a second look", despite being a configuration you generally wouldn't consider? I ask this because I think that is where the winners in the market are to be found. I'm not saying that you'd necessarily follow through with a purchase of a given example, but that it engenders a level of positive respect that you can't quite deny. An example of such a product that just barely fits this category for me is the Ford Flex - it is interesting and individual enough that I have to give it some credit. Others are more automatic entries on my list…

Never done it, haven't looked at many. I have a area of interest that I would very much like to share with others. In fact I am, to a degree, driven to do so. I am still considering publication, but with friends having gone thru that (successfully), it's an arduous task. Websites get lost in the oceanic shuffle, relevant pre-existing sites either disappear or have a self-imposed system that precludes the type/source of my interest (Wikipedia). What's the scuttlebutt on the blog universe, and does anyone pay any attention??

Hi folks, long time. I had a crash with my Sunfire a couple weeks ago. it still drives, but the passenger door and front fender got effed up. My dad has taken it back and I'm borrowing my sister's S-10 in the interim. So I've been shopping for my first new car. I've narrowed it down to either a Sonic hatch or a Cruze. Probably a 2 year, 17k mi/yr lease. Hopefully I'll have an Elio by the end of that. So what are your thoughts about the two choices? They both seem like good cars, and it's hard to say I have a preference between them. I'd like to keep overall cost to a minimum, including payments, gas, and insurance.

This morning, as I was walking back to the office after taking two totaled cars across the street to our holding yard, I noticed a sweet little car pull up in front of the showroom. A little old man and lady got out and headed for the front door. The car? A 1978 Malibu Classic coupe, gray and silver two tone. I was amazed, but kept on walking. It just didn't register with me that this car was about to be traded in, I mean, who would bother? I admired it from afar and continued with my day. Then, late this afternoon, I happened to be on the other side of our building from where our office is, and there sits the car, no license plate. I am immediately excited and st…

It was a tumultuous year all around. The year started with the inauguration of a new President who represented hope and change, though not much has been delivered yet. The Great Recession took hold of the country in the aftermath of the financial meltdown of the previous year. Unemployment remains high and afflicts several members of C&G. During the year, the self-proclaimed King of Pop, Michael Jackson, died. Also lost were Walter Cronkite, screechy pitchman Billy Mays, Farrah Fawcett, Patrick Swayze, and Ted Kennedy. Jon and Kate were overexposed. From South Carolina came a new meaning for “hiking the Appalachian Trail” thanks to its governor and a new politi…

So, my mom calls me at work today. Someone rear-ended her in her Cobalt while she was stopped at a red light. I wrote an estimate for $3200+. Thing is, we fixed the dumbass' Forester less than 6 months ago, when he pulled out in front of someone and ripped the whole side out of it. We will be fixing his car again, as well, but I haven't seen it because the tow company (they knew where the car will be fixed) DROVE DIRECTLY BY our bodyshop to take it to their storage lot, so they can collect storage... Hey, folks, the Regal turned 17 today. It's got 255,736 miles. It's now "legal" to watch R-rate movies. With 44,000 extra miles needed, I will keep it to try to make 300,000 miles for the hell of it. It's going to the car wash, before it gets too hot here today. Now, if you DON'T OFFEND too easily, here's a clip the car "can watch," so you can too - kind of in the same spirit as the "flying dildo" clip. Funniest thing I've EVER seen: Link to Your Daily Media

Continuing with the C&G Automotive Awards 2006 presentation, which vehicle do you, dear readers, nominate as C&G's Most Powerful Love Magnet Car for 2006? Let's face it, first impressions are important, and most of us choose a vehicle that we feel extends our personality. For those of us who are single, and even for those of us who are taken, but still like to be the recipient of admiring glances on the road, which vehicle tops the list for attracting friends and potential dates?

My mom's getting rid of her '05 Durango because Friday we went and picked her up a 2007 Rendezvous! If you haven't been keeping tally, let me clarify the impact this makes: my dad was looking for a new vehicle a year or two ago and I convinced him to pick up an '05 Grand Prix instead of a Stratus Coupe. Then, I went and bought myself a 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged. And, on top of that, my mom just leased out this '07 Rendezvous. Three cars in our driveway, one from '05, '06, and '07 and all of them are GMs. I finally convinced my parents to get an all-GM …

As I said in the 9C1 Caprice thread, this place around here - CopCarsOnline - seems pretty good an reputable. I've yet to check them out in person, but I want to, and for under $10k its a nice deal, especially with the heavy-duty componants and the spotlight so I can bug my girlfriend at 1:26am. I'm still hoping for a low-mileage PA Ultra, Aurora 4.0, Regal GS, or something plain neat like an 80s Toronado.

With Toyota annpuncing it will lose money in 2009, Honda canceling the NSX, I was wondering if Toyota is still moving forward with the Supra and what ever super car was destined for Lexus? Just wondering because the C6 Corvette will soldier on until about 2012, maybe 2014 and I was wondering what competition from Japan, Inc (excluding the Nissan GTR which is here) it will have to compete against? Maybe Siegen or ToyoGuy have some tidbits for us.

Why aren't there any LED headlights being made yet? We have them in interiors, taillights, and turn signals; not as headlights, but they're in concepts. I don't get it.

Back in the day, there were "Chevy men", "Dodge men", and "Ford men", with variations on a vast majority domestic theme. How did you become the type of car enthusiast you are today? What cars did you grow up with in your family, and how did they shape your preferences? I'll list some of my memories, both real and placed in my head by grainy photographs taken before my birth or when I was too young to remember... Maternal side, grandparents, '39 Mercury coupe, muddy farm car in photographs. Grandfather later turned to Chrysler cars with a smattering of Pontiacs, his last the '73 Cat he handed to me. His last car after his beloved '77 New Yorker was an '89 Caprice Cla…

I need a set of Chevy center caps for my wagon. They would have to fit into a 3" diameter hole in the wheels I have and be of the snap-in variety. They also need to give me at least 3/4" of clearance beyond the surface of the wheel. Can anyone think of a stock chevy application that fits the bill?

U.S. News is doing something both old & new. Old: they're jumping on the ever-expanding bandwagon of car reviews. New: they're attempting to 'review the reviewers'. Here's the Press release. >>"Even though an automobile is one of the most expensive products most people will ever buy, car reviews are notoriously subjective. Now U.S.News is taking the bias out of the advice, with a unique ranking system that distills information from numerous reviews into a single numerical score between 1 and 10. The scores allow us to rank virtually every mainstream car on the market, from best to worst in 23 categories..."<< Admirable, perhaps, but automatically proble…

I'm here to gather opinions. One day last week, my father took his Ram Express into a local dealer to have the oil changed. To make a longer story extremely brief and short, it's likely been overfilled. The oil is almost two to three quarters of the way up the dipstick and way past "max". There is obvious blue smoke coming from the exhaust and there is black build-up on the chrome exhaust tips. The dealer has been contacted and said that they find this "hard to believe" although the evidence is concrete. What would you demand the dealer do?

The dealer still has the Regal but I don't want it. I went to go make a deal on the Cherokee but they sold it off. I went to the back lot to look but they had something better. My patience is up, I found THE ONE. So sitting back there with an 1989 Pontiac 6000 Safari with portholes, a 1997 Cavalier, and the Regal is a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire GT with only 114,000 kms on it. It is black and has power everything and a sunroof. They want $3500 for it. What do you think? Here are the pictures.

So I bought a 12 pack of TaB several months ago because I've always been curious what it tasted like but they don't sell just 20 oz bottles or even 2 liters of the stuff. Tried one can. It tastes fine at first but then there's this...aftertaste...it's not pleasant. 11 cans have been sitting in the hall since then. Fast forward to tonight. I'm eating pizza and there's no more soda. Milk/OJ/Eggnog do not go with pizza for me. So I've broken down and openedup a (cold) can of TaB. Joy. This time the aftertaste isn't as bad to me though. Does anyone actually enjoy drinking it on a regular basis?

This will be a short work week, as I am taking Friday off to make it a 3-day Easter weekend and flying out of town. Friday will mean some good fish for lunch and dinner (maybe salmon and halibut) and Easter Sunday ought to bring a good brunch buffet. Today is Passover. I asked one of my co-workers if he was celebrating the Seder meal, but he told me he was not observant. I would like to get invited to one someday to experience it. Are you doing anything to celebrate this week's religious holidays? Resting? Traveling somewhere?

For one of my classes (ME 170 - CAD) we have to do a final design project (this is still quite a ways away though) and I was thinking maybe I could design some new disc brake and demonstrate how using 6 piston calipers is better than 4 piston calipers, etc. Anyways, I'm having trouble finding any websites with detailed descriptions of each part. This isn't a "this is the disc, this is the caliper" type of design. We have to create an engineering model of the brake, with all of the parts, even the smallest ones, and even the parts that connect to it (in this case from the brake pedal) to make it work. So, if anyone knows of a site that would have this sort of info, I'd …

At the beginning of the year, in the sports world, the New England Patriots were deemed cheaters with quarterback Tom Brady allegedly throwing underinflated balls in a playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts. Two weeks later the Super Bowl closed with perhaps the worst call in the history of the game by the losing Seahawks. In June, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that denying same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk, was made a hero by some marriage traditionalists by refusing to do her job in issuing same-sex marriages licenses and was sent to jail for it. Lots of people got sick eating at Chipotle from an E.coli outbreak in July…

Boeing just announced another major delay in their launch of the new 787 Dreamliner...a single-story twin-aisle versatile jetliner that replaces the 757/767 combo. These will be able to service LA to Denver....or LA to London. The concept is great. However, they have halted the production of the fuselage for re-design. I am wondering: - is the snag in their all-over-the-map production scheme? - or is it in the revolutionary change to composites? I don't think the first 747 saw this kind of bumbling. Pan Am signed the launch customer agreement in 1966 and its historic flight took place in Feb. 1969. Have you been following the 787 Dreamliner saga?

I left my job about 2 weeks ago. I wanted to finish this night time graduate degree this May (2 months from today, more or less), so I overloaded on credits to wrap it up. I worked through the 1st month of the semester, so now I am playing catch up. One chick at work e-mails me quite frequently since I was the project manager on a large project and she worked for me. She just told me that the guy in the outside window office across from her is in the cardiac unit of the hospital. He is only in his late 50s and is health is poor. He buried his wife within the last 5 years and he has not done well since. Compared to most a-hole architects, this is one of the nicest…

It is no secret that currently, the US and the world are on a CUV binge. Every niche has been explored by numerable automakers to flush out every customer. Chevrolet is no different, and who can blame them for following the market? Which brings us to the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer. Billed by Chevrolet as Camaro-inspired, nevermind the internet clamor over using a revered SUV name from the past, the Blazer could have... SHOULD have, differentiated itself from a sea of CUV appliances by simply being built on the Alpha platform... like the Camaro. A LWB Alpha Blazer would have clearly shown Chevrolet's intent to make the vehicle stand out... and tie it in irrevocably to …

So if anyone watched the last episode of Jersey Shore you see the Guido's drive away in their respective cars. I put a clip below from Youtube and I was wondering if we could figure out what cars they are. Pauly at 7:46 drives away in a Caddy CTs 1997 I belive. I believe we could nail down the year by the Mettalic green paint. And Vinny I think own the best ride with a Cobolt SS. Also I think thier are better clips avaible on Youtube than the one I included below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6qQ5mYDC9Y&feature=related

Long story, short... I've moved. Anyone who follows me on Facebook will know, but I forgot to update everyone else here. No longer stuck in rural Pennsylvania, I'm now in Metro-Detroit, in the Novi/Wixom/Walled Lake area. Essentially, I'll be doing some freelance photography and I have a couple "jobs" lined up. After being here a week, I have to say that I should have moved here a long time ago. Beyond the added opportunities, there's simply so many things to do, places to go, and everything is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. In addition to that, my apartment complex has a great view and close to everything I like. Actually, no... The nearest Sheetz is 2.5 hours away, …

Every once in a while, fleeting mentions of golf and golfing come up on the site. Yes, I see how it would nice be to walk scenic manicured courses as you go out to a golf outing. But that's where it stops. I've never really had an opinion of golf (other than indifference), but that's changing. Sorry if I seem blunt, but the whole experience and the accoutrements that go with it seem so "packaged." I wonder if people REALLY like it, or if it's something they do to be "one of the boys." I mean, it offers little in the way of exercise value. The reason I bring this up is that about 5 months ago, I got a new boss. In the last week or so, it crystallized that he is …

When I was car shopping I did look at a first gen Dodge Neon. It was going for $800, which was well below my budget. I liked how it drove and handled, however the ebrake stuck and of greater concern, water was getting into the cabin on the passenger side and pooling in the foot well. It had started to smell like mold. I passed over it. Friday I went to my mechanic to do some computer work for him, and what do I find? The very car I test drove...
