A maroon sedan - alloys, etc. Obviously very new, but with far too many barcodes. Yup. It was a rental. I attempted a picture with my cell phone camera that didn't come out well, but it was definitely a rental. In the last month I have seen two '07 Aveo sedans on the side of a highway with smoke billowing out from under the hood. The first was here around Springgyfield, it was on the side of the road yet traffic was still backed up, and you could see flames poking out. The second was yesterday up near Jefferson City, where people apparently know how to drive, since it was on the shoulder and traffic was moving over, but not slowing to a creep. No flames, just thick smoke. It seems the new Aveo is indeed red hot.

Has anybody ever played this game before? My dad's always been interested in aviation and first bought Flight Sim 4 when I was a kid, back when it was in 16 colors and only four buildings were shown for the Chicago skyline. It had an add-on program where you could build your own airports and landscapes, so I built my hometown and most of Western Iowa. Then we upgraded to Flight Sim 5 around '95, and this was huge because it now had 256 colors, texture map scenery, and thousands of airports around the US. If there's anything that really makes me mad, it's when some degenerate goes and kills a cop... Especially when the officer is RCMP. It's kinda sad that all of the ones that have been gunned down in recent years have been green, in their 30s, with wives and families. That is until some f-ed up degenerate takes him away from them. I have an ax to grind with gravel trucks. They're constantly on the Don Valley Parkway, and I have no idea why, there are no gravel yards around. About half the time I see one, they have rock screenings flying out of the back all over the road, and this morning a rock about half the size of a golf ball flew out of the back of one, bounced loudly off my hood and again off my roof. I rented a Mustang convertible (wow!) in Vegas, drove to the Hoover Dam (well, I was a tourist!), then sped (where 80 mph is slow - God love Americans!) along highway 15 into L.A. to West Hollywood (no smart remarks, girls) where I spent 4 fabulous days cruising the streets of L.A. I have a membership to 24 Hour Fitness, which I bought in Northern California in 1996. They charge my bank account, you guessed it, $ 24 a month. They are all over the West and in other states as well, judging from the map. I also belong to Bally's which I bought when I moved to the Seattle area(there are about 10 in Oregon, too). Tonight I worked the Rutgers football game as a volunteer- my son's school takes home a % of the gross (averages $2500 per home game), and a bunch of us run the concession stand. Four kids elementary / middle school age were caught today throwing debris off the 9th Street bridge in Des Moines that passes over I-235, and Channel 8 news captured them throwing a log over just before police arrived. Not only did they throw a log, they also threw bricks and rocks. Last week was my last goof-off trip of summer as I plan to move within the next month. Up in Canada, I had two rental cars...an Allure (LaCrosse) for a week followed by a Camry for a day. In the Allure and in all GM products, when the door locks are in the closed position, you cannot open the door from the inside. In the Camry (and I believe in Chrysler and Ford products), when the door locks are in the closed position, you still can open the door from the inside. I've been wondering what's everyone's opinion about therapists/therapy... It's very hard for me to reveal myself to complete strangers, to appear vulnerable, but at the same time that's what makes therapy useful: someone who doesn't have an emotional connection to his/her client can 'kick butt' when needed and give you some 'candy' when you deserve a self-esteem boost. Hmm....debating on what I want to do here. I have an 03 Cavalier with a month or two before it is paid off. I went to the Nutmeg Chapter POCI Pontiac-Oakland show on Sunday. There were a lot of nice cars out and competition was pretty tough. So much to my surprise, I took home a first place in my class! Yesterday my friend and I stopped at Lowell Used Auto to see if they had any Prizms in the yard that I could get the parts I needed off of: trunk lid, rear bumper cover, bumper reenforcement, and the left tail light. As I have posted repeatedly, I grew up in LA and left a few years after finishing undergrad, largely because my entire family picked up and moved north. I need a DVR...I am not home during the primetime TV hours and would love to still keep up with a few of the shows that are on. Getting a DVR from my cable provider isn't a possibility because that would mean I would have to move up to digital cable. Meaning that I would owe the the cable company about 40 bucks more a month after box rental and all the jazz. Not worth it just for the DVR because I would only watch maybe one or two of the extra channels. I went grocery shopping a little while ago, and I got a pretty good spot, right up in front. It just happened to be open, if it hadn't been, I would have parked further away, no biggie. Well, I tried to give Chrysler my money on one of the Jeep Commanders...but it keeps letting us down. It has failed - in the garage - THREE times now. Exact same issue: The battery completely drains after the car is left for 12 hours or more. So it looks like maybe a 4th car on the horizon as soon as this summer over here.... Short Listed to 1996-1999 DeVille or 1995-1999 Aurora... Just about six months ago I fell in love with a tripple Brown Buick. It was a 455 powered BiCentenial LeSabre four door hardtop. The car was on craigslist for $1300 O.B.O. Last Thursday night/Friday morning a thunderstorm rolled through Fargo. One of the loudest thunderstorms I have ever been in the middle of. Ok, I thought about this after my last vacation. I had Grand Prixs back to back in both FL and Atlanta, putting 1,700 miles on the first and 600 on the second one. (I took the Florida car to beautiful Pensacola and back). I've also rented about 10 other Grand Prixs, putting at least 700 miles on each one. When added up, it occurred to me I've exceeded 10,000 miles in rented Grand Prixs. Heck, getting into one and knowing all about them is so reflexive, that if I were to buy one it would be a "non-event." What types of rental "sleds" do you seem to get into most often?

So I was talking to a friend today and he said his dad was buying himself a brand new FJ Cruiser to replace his 1996 Grand Voyager. Apparently he paid cash for it already and is taking delivery on Thursday. So what did I do?
