  2. I'm home and have the time right now, so I thought I'd finally share this since it's still effecting me. On my way home from Detroit last Thursday after my English Placement Exam, I got to Chelsea on I-94 when my car died. Now, it wouldn't be quite so bad if this was the first time that it had happened, but it was about the fifth time that it's done it to me, and what pissed me off above everything else is that what the dealership thought the problem was turned out not the be the problem at all. I maintain that it's the fuel pump. On a long drive (I got to Detroit fine) it just eventually fizzles out on the Interstate. It gives a hiccup, and then the car just starts…

I also have my temporary parking permit (cuz I don't have my car). And, so far, I just know that although I'm going to want to scream, it will be a most worthwhile experience going to school and pursuing my career!!!

So after looking for work since September I've finally got a part-time job delivering for a local Pizza place. I have to say, so far I like it. I mean, I get paid to drive...pretty sweet. Anyway, I decided to to use the Shadow since the Prizm was blocked by another car and I don't really want to use the Intrepid for this kinda thing. So I get to work and start making deliveries, I'd made my first 2 and then was asked to deliver two more orders. Up until now the cars had been running fine...a little noisy (it now has an exhaust leak, after 18 years with it's original exhaust system), but otherwise fine. My first delivery took me to Market Basket, where customer service …

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3013016&page=1 Unbelievable. I wonder if they know that it was the Fuhrer himself who started VW, as the "people's car"? Ah, a car for the master race, no wonder VW's are so good. That and most Jewish people to this day will still not drive Mercedes and BMW's either, because these companies used slave laborers from the death camps. I don't even know how much of the above article is true, as it's widely known that the Germans stole Opel from GM during WWII, but were made to give it back after the war.

I have no idea where it came from because usually my dreams have something that relates to something that I know of or have experienced recently or in the past, and here I am, hanging out and getting along with someone that I have never even me before. Anyway, just thought I'd share this bizarre occurence with the rest of you (rest being as in not myself only). Anyone else have some totally random dream that one doesn't know where it came from?

A lot has changed (including Joy's boyfriend becoming her husband) ... some things have stayed the same. Well, I know that the road is about to reduce speed to 35 MPH, and I look down to see that I'm going 47. Well, I depress the clutch and downshift to fourth to slow down some. While doing so, I look up to see the "Speed Limit Reduced to 35 MPH" sign. Now I've slowed down a bit, but not enough, so I downshift to third. Just as I downshift I see a policeman on the side of the road, right after the 35 MPH sign. Well, needless to say, he pulls out and by the time he got behind me I was going less than 35 to slow down for railroad tracks. He flips the lights and that's all she wrote…

This could be in "Other Guys," but I think that forum's better for discussion on news, not on opinions. Looking at the things Cadillac is coming out with, with exaggeration on the NG CTS, is it a stretch to say that BMW could easily start losing ground to its competitors? Okay, so the CTS is just one model, but figure in the coupe and wagon that will come out after the sedan and you're going to get a great vehicle. We all know the sedan will be sexy just judging by what we've seen of it, inside and out. It's got everything that Cadillac's Art and Science theme had and more. A very crisp design, the NG CTS could very easily steal many consumers from BMW's band of buyers. …

  23. So I'm reading the new article on DCX's minivans and I came cross this. But the truth is, the most important thing about the 2008 Chrysler minivans, which are to be unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, is that they exist at all. The two other more-or-less domestic companies that have produced minivans in the past, General Motors and Ford, have both announced they're ceding the segment to the Japanese, the Koreans and, of course, Chrysler. So I suppose Toyota is more or less American too now right?

Rethinking the Embargo Game Automakers' time-honored system of handing out early photos and specs of vehicles to the media and embargoing their release for maximum exposure during the Detroit auto show has been thrown asunder this year by the blogosphere and the heightened competition among media to be the first to show photos of hot new cars. So far this year, information about the Chevy Malibu sedan, Dodge Viper sports car, the Lincoln MKR concept and the Chevy Camaro convertible has leaked out early on the Web and in car magazines. On Wednesday, the issue reached new heights when photos of new Chrysler minivans, arguably the most important vehicles at this year's No…

The cars equaled the prestige of Rolls-Royce and Duesenberg and were popular with foreign royalty (the rulers of Japan, Persia, Saudi Arabia and Belgium owned Pierce-Arrows). But, like so many other car companies, it disappeared during the Depression.

I might head up to some hot springs if the roads are ok....which I didn't do when I turned in my last final in mid-December. It will be nice to have no plans, for a change. What about you?

Just food for thought, this si not exactly very scientific but it does prove a point: why bother with B-pillars when push come to shove they're all pretty weak... I do not beleive a B-pillar saves lives more often than sheer luck does. http://www.crashanalysis.com/crash_test.htm

Okay, it goes like this. I just got on the computer, and got to C&G into the lounge, and I happened to sneeze because right now my nose is running, sinuses are draining and blowing my nose happened to be the least of my concerns as a result of it. ~*Surprise!*~ I'm bleeding! From both barrels for a double treat. Ugh. I blame having to fuss over my nose due to the drainage, the dry weather, and possible veins too close to the surface. I mean, it's soo easy for me to bleed in the winter time and it bugs the crap out of me. My junior year in high school I did a report on hemophilia in my advanced biology class and consequently, my peers had to give me a hard time…

OK, this thread is based on what repair bills for this stuff costs ...we've seen where ABS bills can go. With Series III 3800s came electronic throttle control; thus, there is NO accelerator cable. Now, VVT is on board...reading about it indicates it's somewhat complex and it runs on a powerful microprocessor. Even more interesting/foreboding is DOD/AFM which is available on the 3.9 V6s and on the 5.3 V8s. I'm sorry, but I'd rather do without most of this stuff, but I think I will have to get used to it. At least, I can buy-in after it's been around for about 3 years. What are your thoughts?

Yes, I'm starting this thread once again, just like each year before it. As of yesterday, the 27th, was my 3 year anniversary of joining C&G. Its sad that I remember it, but it's fun. It's hard to believe I've been here this long. There have been times when I never wanted to come back to C&G and times where I never wanted to get off the internet because of it. That and usually I'm not very committed when it comes to online forums. This is the only forum that I've been continuously active on for this long. Usually, I forget about a forums after about a month. So it's been a refreshing ride. Hopefully, it won't come to an end anytime soon. I would like to eventua…

  71. I found this old 1989 Dakota Sport in an empty lot with some other junkers, Golf, 2 Aerostars, and a 94 Cavalier with a huge whole in the drivers door. I actually went to check out the Cavalier but this. It is in bad shape but the body isnt too bad on it. It has rust on the rockers (not eating away) and the paint is peeling but on trucks, most stuff is replaceable compared to a unibody. The biggest thing that concerns me is the crack in the windshield and I dont know how it runs. However, I have always loved these Dakotas.

So my aunt came over for Christmas as always, but she wasn't sure she was going to make it on Christmas Eve, as her Subaru Outback wouldn't start, but finally turned over after an hour's delay. She drove it here and it made it, and then it started fine on Christmas and the day after, when we took it to the dealer's service department. While it was in service being looked at, we went out looking. First up was the CR-V. For some reason she thinks their cute, and I guess we all have our own opinions. She thought it was what she really wanted, and had high hopes. She picked out one she liked (sticker was $28.5k) and we were on our way. We both thought it was terrible. Harsh…

LOS ANGELES - Gerald R. Ford, who picked up the pieces of Richard Nixon’s scandal-shattered White House as the 38th and only unelected president in America’s history, has died, his wife, Betty, said Tuesday. He was 93. “My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Gerald Ford, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather has passed away at 93 years of age,” Mrs. Ford said in a brief statement issued from her husband’s office in Rancho Mirage. “His life was filled with love of God, his family and his country.” The statement did not say where Ford died or list a cause of death. Ford had battled pneumonia in January 2006 and underwent two heart t…

I thought about this over the weekend, wondering how many times I've driven it, since it occurred to me I knew just about all the exit numbers and the names that go with them. It would be I-5 between Portland OR and Seattle WA (173 miles). My parents live in the former and I have lived in the latter for 3 - 1/2 years. That's worth about 70 trips right there. Then about 50 or so when I lived in Portland and went up to Seattle for the hell of it. Then another 30 when I have lived in other places, went to see my parents and roadtripped to "the Emerald City" (Seattle's nickname) or continued on to Vancouver BC Canada. That's about 52,000 miles driven on that route al…

How about a chop of the year? Anybody who wants to can submit a photo of their best chop of THIS YEAR ONLY! It can be any car photoshop, even if it was not posted here on C&G. Then, after a deadline, we vote! The winner could be posted on the homepage if wanted. Now, nobody should make fun of other's chops they think are good (if they submit.) I have been through plenty of tough criticism and rude comments, and here is where it is especialy unwanted. Any crude or inappropriate comments should not be posted here. Deadline would be January 5, 2007, but since it is the holidays, extensions will gladly be given.

Normally I never work on the Odyssey, but it needed an oil change and transmission fluid change, so instead of getting raped at the dealership, I thought I'd do it myself. So last night, I extracted the oil through the dipstick with my Mityvac evacuator. Then I poured in fresh oil thorugh the fill cap. This morning I drove it a while to get the ATF warmed up. I drained the ATF through the drain plug, and refilled it with a funnel into the ATF dipstick. I drove it around the block. But then I noticed some bad noises and gear slippage. I opened the owner's manual again, and lo and behold, what I thought was the engine oil dipstick was the ATF dipstick, and what I thou…

As my mom walked in the living room last night, she says "Cory, your dad blew my car up." I say "What?!" She tells me "I hope you don't plan on going anywhere tonight, as the Sunfire's blocking the driveway." I didn't really believe her at first, but upon looking out, there it is. It couldn't make it the last 40 feet or so to her spot in the driveway. All, night, I heard my parents talking about it. My mom asking my dad what's wrong with it... Him telling her that he doesnt know, etc, etc. I do go out last night, however, and had to cut through the yard. This morning, I let my mom take my Millenia. I was expecting to since last night, so I left my keys downstairs. She lef…

First off, like the new look for C&G....now onto the story... Tonight while waiting to turn into a Dunkin Donuts, sitting in the left lane on the northbound side of a road called Central Park Avenue, I was at a full stop with my left indicator on, sitting behind a Saturn L-Series also with it's left signal on. While we were both waiting to turn into Dunkin, cars coming southbound in both lanes, a Chevy Express van sideswipes my Riviera's left rear quarter panel and wheel well, WHILE going into oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes, to cut me and the Saturn off. After a moment of shock, my girlfriend shouts at me to catch him and get his plate #, I pull up behin…

Thought I'd start a thread in the spirit of the old Cheers and Jeers threads that looked back at the previous year here at the forums. 2006 may not have been a great year in reality (do we really have to go there?) and here at the forums (server problems among others), but there are still plenty of good things we can highlight. For example, here's one of the first designs posted in the Member Showcase section for 2006 (that have image links that still work, anyway) by budding C&G designer, member, and Designer's Guild Founding Member, American_Revolution2005 (this actually predicted the 2008 Magnum refresh in many ways -- way to go, man). So start posting about 20…
