  4. Let me set the scene for you a bit.... We (My girlfriend and I) live in the mountains of NC when we're not at school; it's very rural. In fact, we actually live up on a mountain that overlooks a valley, while on the back side of us is a national forest, water reservoir and black bear habitat. My neighborhood is basically built in a network of old logging roads (which were cut in when our mountain still housed mica mines) one of which has been widened and paved up to my cluster of 7 houses where the road (meaning paved part) dead ends. My family and I live in one house and my grilfriend and her family have been our next door neighbors for years. (Way before we were an "it…

Oil changed every 3500 miles (give or take 20miles), transmission fluid changed at 100,000 along with coolant flush and refill. Full tune-up (plugs, wires, oil, trans fluid, coolant, hoses, pcv valve, etc) performed at 105,000 miles. Brakes replaced all the way around by 80,000 miles, front rotors turned at that time. Replaced front wheel hub assemblies at 109,000 miles (although I have to yank the driver's one out again due to a bad ABS wheel speed sensor). Front end aligned at 85,000. I honestly thought I was going to break that button; it looked like it was made by a sweatshop in Japan and had cheaper quality than a Fisher Price toy. Also, I don't see the hype over Lexus vehicles because I was inside an ES, IS, LS, and GS and all of them were pretty damn cheap for a luxury vehicle. Some of them had loose gloveboxes and others had much more hard plastic than any current Cadillac I've been in, and the Americans get ragged on very hard for that stuff. I just don…

I spent the entire day yesterday on the beach at Assateague, near Ocean City, MD. For my trip home, I decided to come back through my old town of Easton, MD, to check out the GM dealership I worked at for 10 years before moving to PA in 2003. It went out of business and has since been sitting empty, I guess it's been about a year now. I was glad to see an area dealer group's name on the front of the building, and new Chevys and Cadillacs once again sitting for sale out front. I hope they can make a go of it, as the old owners were a local fixture for decades and the location is ideal.

  17. Posted: Thursday, August 6 2009 at 03:27 pm CT by Bob Sullivan The best way to get the attention of a classroom full of rowdy kids is to turn the lights off. And the best way to get the attention of Internet users is to essentially do the same thing. Thursday’s Twitter denial-of-service hack certainly grabbed everyone's attention. Nothing like a total shutdown to make people sit up and take notice. But relatively speaking, denialof-service attacks are harmless. Everyone's been through it - CNN, Yahoo, Microsoft. Heck, Facebook and LiveJournal were hit Thursday, too, by the social media bandwidth bandit. (Msnbc.com is a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC Universal.) …

She got the keys and papers from her mailbox, but when she went to get the car it was nowhere to be found. So she reported it stolen. On this past week's episode, one of the character's cars, a '75-'76 vintage Caprice/Impala wagon [believe it was the Caprice version; thought I saw the Caprice emblem on the front], was referred to as/called a "GMC wagon". In the same episode, when two of the characters torched the car, it suddenly went from being the big/roundish '75-'76 vintage Caprice/Impala wagon to the downsized/boxy '77-'79 vintage Caprice/Impala wagon. The matchbox-sized motor generates the equivalent of 100 watts, including the power electronics interface, and has an efficiency of close to 95 percent. Powered by a gas turbine, one tankful of fuel drives the generator for about 10 hours at peak 100 watt performance. I was running errands and also popped into a Chevy dealership. They were refreshingly nice. I asked about 08s and there weren't too many on the lots. I then asked how much the extended warranty would be. Now, keeping in mind that the powertrain warranty is 5/100, the extended warranty for everything else to go 6/90 with a $100 deduct nudges $1,500 for a basic Impala 3.5 and $1,400 if you do the $200 deduct. Yikes...I was expecting $1,000 to $1,100. I bought the extended warranty for my Regal when there was basic 3/36. It was the 6/72 and it cost me about $ 700. What's the deal? I mean, the powertrain is now up to 5/100. Why so much for the balance? Is this…

Netflix just delivered to me POSEIDON. I figured Emmy Rossum+lots of water has got to equal Oscar material. Yet, reviews are not good. Anyone seen it yet? I'm doing the 5 minute fast forward view for my first pass.

LOL! I don't see the birthdays listed on the bottom of the page, and maybe I didn't set it up right, so I'm wishing myself and at least two others here that have their birthday today a wonderful day.

Have you heard about the new TV series coming. It's called Supernatural. It's these two brothers who travel around in their beat up '69 Chevy Impala to various small towns investigating strange goings-on. This one looks good to me. http://www.tv.com/supernatural/show/30144/summary.html

Seems like the car spotting threads have died off... saw a couple neat oldies today---a very clean black w/ red interior '56/57 Corvette at the gas station, and a two tone lt gold/dark gold '60 Olds 88 4dr sedan.

Since Im in full car search mode, I found this pretty amusing. An Ontario (Canada) man is running a contest to win his car. Basically, he wants a $50 dollar checque, and a written entry not to exceed 100 words on the theme of “I/We want to win this Saab because..”. After 100 entries, a winner will be picked, and get the car. Easy $5000 bucks for the guy, possibly a $50 dollar SAAB for you. http://www.bmts.com/~warren/ http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-c...QQAdIdZ45525269 Crazy, eh?

Any of you ever install headers and/or a bigger cam in one of your cars? If so, have you noticed anything weird when you started the car and let it run for a few minutes? And, if you installed headers, were the gaskets like paper or aluminum/copper?

it seems that time again, the slowdown on this board has come again. surely we all wait for the next autoshows to bring more press to comment on, cheer, and rip apart. how long will the word association thread get, will it ever end, will it cause any problems on here, should 1000 pages be a locking action? what are you looking forward to? just getting past this election? any upswing in the economy? upcoming games to occupy your free time?

...to total up the miles driven in 2008 and put the older Monte Carlos away for the winter ... this time, including the '87 MC LS, if I can find a satisfactory "winter" (and possibly "road trip") car.... Sunday, November 23 ... I drove the older 4 MCs for the first time in over a month, due in part to not-so-nice weather on the weekends and other plans. I filled each gas tank and added StaBil to each one, so they are ready for winter storage, when that time actually arrives. I almost had 'em all out on Thanksgiving Day, but a certain 2-week-old nephew made it hard to leave the house that Thursday.... So, instead, Friday, November 28 (another sunny, relatively warm d…

  93. I have seen a total of 3 GM ads since I've came back to the USA 9 days ago. The sad thing is, one was for the the Cadillac Escalade, the other was for the GMC Acadia, both these ads were on TV, the other add I saw was for the Pontiac G8, it was an internet ad. These are not the vehicles GM needs to be pushing in the days of 4 bucks a gallon gas, which is surely to go higher. They should be showing ads that show GM vehicles that get 30 mpg or more, once again GM shoots itself in the foot.

Today, after months of letting the breeze outside in the street, my dad finally took it for brakes. The light was on, and the pedal went to the floor. I had been telling him for months to take it in, not good to let it rot. And now, we have to pay $450 because the back brake system is a mess and the front needs new pads. O how right I was and he didn't listen.

The reason? Air bags. …" "'We see trauma we never saw before,' says ACFAS President James L. Thomas, DPM, FACFAS, a foot and ankle trauma surgeon at the University of Alabama, Birmingham Hospital. 'A decade ago, these patients would have died from head trauma or other upper body injuries. Now, thanks to seat belts and air bags, they survive.'"
