In February of 2021, Jaguar announced that it would become an all-electric brand by 2025, a feat that, if achieved, would make it the first legacy brand to make that transition. Later this year, the last three gas-powered Jaguar models (E-Pace, F-Pace, and XF Sedan) will end production well before the electric replacements are ready. Due to knowledge gained at the I-Pace eTrophy racing series, Jaguar is releasing an update, available at dealerships, for its I-Pace EV CUV. The update allows the vehicle to travel up to an additional 12 miles on a full charge over the previous range estimate of 292 miles WLTP. The update improves thermal management of the powertrain, alters the torque split front to rear, and improved regenerative braking. The EV system has also been updated to more accurately reflect driving range based on driver habits. Jaguar Land Rover already has an agreement with BMW to use BMW sourced engines in future vehicles, but now a report from Autocar says that the company could use a BMW sourced platform for some future small vehicles as well. The Sedan Apocalypse continues. Jaguar has confirmed via a spokesperson that the current Jaguar XJ will end production this summer. However, that is just one of the big cat's nine lives. Rumor has it that the XJ nameplate will rise again on a new car, possibly a large hatchback, driven entirely by electric power. This past year hasn't been good for Jaguar Land Rover. A triple whammy of sales dropping in China, demand for diesel vehicles falling, and the looming threat of Brexit has seen the company report a 90 million pound (about $113,550,300) loss in the third-quarter. S&P Global Ratings recently cut their long-term rating into JLR's parent company, Tata Motors into Junk Status. The next-generation Jaguar F-Type is expected to arrive in 2021 and according to a report from Autocar, the company is deciding what powertrains should go into it. One option being considered is going with a fully electric powertrain. This would allow designers to push the boundaries of the next F-Type's design. Going electric would also allow for a lower center of gravity if Jaguar was able to mount the batteries below the floor. When Jaguar announced plans to begin electrifying all of their models beginning in 2020 last fall, one of the models they showed off was the E-Type Zero electric car. Done by JLR's Classic division, the Zero swaps the gas engine for an electric powertrain. The rest of the model is original including the suspension and brakes. Last September, Jaguar Land Rover announced plans to begin electrifying their lineup in 2020. This means electrics, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids. There is a good reason why JLR is doing this. Bloomberg reports that the company is very dependent on diesels in Europe. In the fourth quarter of last year, 87 percent of JLR sales in the region were made up of diesel vehicles - surprising to say in the least as sales of diesels for other brands were dealing due to the Volkswagen diesel emission scandal. Jaguar Land Rover is making some cuts to their work staff. Today, the British automaker announced that it would not renew the contracts of 1,000 agency workers at its Solihull factory in the United Kingdom. According to Autocar, JLR is holding meetings with workers to discuss the changes. In a statement, JLR said the decision is due “continuing headwinds” that have forced the company to make "adjustments to production schedules and the number of agency staff”. Jaguar has been busy teasing their first electric vehicle, the I-Pace since it made its debut at the 2016 LA Auto Show. Now we have a date when Jaguar will reveal the production model. North America never got their hands on the first Jaguar XF Sportbrake, but the British automaker is making up for that with the debut of the second-generation XF Sportbrake. Introduced today in the United Kingdom, the XF Sportbrake shares a lot with the sedan in terms of design. Both have the same front end styling with narrow headlights and aggressive bumper. At the Beijing Motor Show today, Jaguar announced a new supercharged V6 and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The supercharged V6 is a 3.0L producing either 340 or 380 HP, depending on the configuration. The all-aluminum V6 is derived from Jaguar's 5.0L V8 and features quad cams, direct injection and a Roots-type twin vortex supercharger with a water-cooled intercooler. Over in a Jaguar site a Jag owner posted: He has a dead battery and can't get into the car. and asking what to do. So, some of the members are trying to help him. He is in Bangladesh and the nearest Jaguar dealership is 3000 miles away. So now we have Jaguar owners in North America, trying the get a Jag door open, from half way around the world. I have the XJ since July 2011. It now has 10,500 miles. Con's : Touch screen ans all that goes with it - Slow. I did read some where its an easy fix but I have no idea if Jag plans to up grade. Chrome inside much to shinny. I drive with a towel over the console at times. Oil- A Special type only Jag dealers have. (I carry 2 qts at all times) No dip sticks for oil or trans.The car will tell you what is want, when it wants it. It seems to sense things. Example --It will brake harder if it feels you are not. ( you can turn most of the sensing off) Never drive in snow. It has winter mode but I'll never use it. Rear wheel drive in snow is just no good. People look at y…

The shots from a brochure show the Sportbrake sharing a family resemblance to the XF sedan from the front end to the B-pillar. After that, its all new sheetmetal. The pictures also show the XF's large cargo space and folding seats. Engines for the Sportbrake are likely to be the same as the sedan; a 2.2L four-cylinder and two 3.0L V6 diesel engines and a N/A 5.0L V8. The XF Sportbrake will debut at Geneva next month. Based on the XF Sedan, the Sportbrake offers a longer roof and extra space. The space in the Sportbrake totals 19 cubic feet of with the rear seats up, or 59 cubic feet with the rear seats down. To compare, a Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon has 20.5 cubic feet of with the rear seats up and 57.4 cubic feet with the rear seats down. Carrying design cues from the early 90’s XJ220, the C-X75 had a trick up its sleeve. The powertrain was a range-extended electric vehicle using two 95 HP micro gas turbines to recharge the lithium-ion battery packs, which in turn would power the four electric motors mounted in each wheel. Sources tell Autocar that the current XFR with its 510 HP supercharged V8 is “a bit outgunned” by the new BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, and Jaguar plans to build a faster model that will carry XFR-S badge. The R-S badge, seen on the XKR-S means tweaks to chassis, engine, and more aggressive look. The supercharged V8 could see its horsepower raised to 550. For the past year, rumors have been flying around Coventry about Jaguar building a XF wagon to compete with Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. Now spy shots of Jaguar XF wagon have come out. Seen testing around Jaguar HQ’s in Coventry, the wagon is a little bit longer than the XF sedan. The wagon or Sportbrake as it said on the camoflage will have a more unique rear end thanks to a new c-pillar and new taillight setup. Jaguar is looking to increase the number of vehicles they sell in the US. To accomplish this, the company will introduce AWD and introduce a new range of engines. Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s Global Brand Director said the brand is struggling to compete with automakers that offer AWD; especially in the snow belt, where 70% of XF’s class are equipped with AWD. Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design boss told What Car? this week that he would like to see the brand produce a small car. “It's a personal view, but there's room for a premium small car. Introduced only on Tuesday at the LA Auto Show, the stockpile of Jaguar XKR-S Convertible for the US have been spoken for. Only 25 of the XKR-S convertibles were sent to the US and all have been sold. Jaguar hasn't publicly commented on about who bought one, all of whom paid a $6,000 premium over the XKR-S coupe. Jaguar is making their presence known today at the LA Auto Show by announcing the convertible version of their XKR-S. Jaguar says this is the fastest convertible they have built and judging from the 0-60 time of of 4.2 seconds and top speed of 186 mph, it's easy to see why. The last time Jaguar did a front wheel drive car, the result was the X-Type sedan and wagon which became one of the least reliable vehicles on the road. Well, Jaguar is giving front wheel a second chance. According to Autocar, Jaguar is working on a new front wheel drive model for the Chinese, Indian, and US markets.
