What is the coolest GM car that you ahve seen this week? For me it is a silver 66 Chevelle S396 hardtop that had to be one of the nicest restorations I've ever seen. I've seen lots of Super Chevy show winners, I've seen AACA winners, I've seen pritine Mustang Club of America winners... And this thing was nicer, cleaner, and more seemingly original than anything else I swear that I've seen in a long time. Also this week- 2 Good looking late 60's Toranado's Silver 69 Camaro Z-28 Thumpin big block 70 Nova, Pro street, just wicked Looked at a CTS (new) at a dealer Good looking SKY was out front of a resteraunt with it's top down, someone had taken a dark grey…

today i had a visit from lost prevention at blockbuster and they informed me that i had been naughty by giving the neighboring restuarant videos for food. they charged me for every movie i "rented" to them which comes to $200. so that sucks. but on the good side i got another job within 5 minutes of being fired, at the resturant next door...i was also given 2 beers while filling out my application. so its not all bad. just thought it was a bit interesting and thought i would share. anyone got similar stories???

So I went to a Christian rock concert tonight because a friend of mine wanted to go since he really likes the band that played. They're a local band that isn't really known outside of central Iowa. I had a couple drinks over at another friend's apartment and then went over with him to the frat where they were playing. So we're at the concert and there's probably 150-200 people there. The band starts to play its first song that sounds like it was ripped off a Rage Against the Machine album. Then they move onto the next song that sounds like something Linkin Park would play. Cut/copy/paste riffs, hoarse growling vocals, and the lead singer was jum…

This one is easy for me ... and it should be no surprise. The 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme coupe...preferably in Brougham (loose cushion seating) or Salon (tall reclining buckets) trim. I'm still confining myself to one car for my answer if I say that the 1975 version was also a very attractive car, but the 1976 was a leap forward with the absence of fender sculpting and rectangular headlamps. Wow. 1976 - one of the better poses for this car, and everyone fell in love (credit to Classic Oldsmobile.com) 1975 - my favorite color at top of photo, but it needed a white vinyl top; nice tan swivel-out buckets at bottom LH suited to the rust exterior (credit to Mclel…

Link: http://www.kare11.com/news/article/936504/333/Hundreds-of-panties-turn-up-along-Ohio-road Hundreds of panties turn up along Ohio road LANCASTER, Ohio -- Authorities in central Ohio are trying to solve a panties puzzle: why hundreds of pairs of mostly women's underwear were dumped along the side of a road. Fairfield County Deputy Gary Hummel said Thursday the undergarments were found in trees and on hillsides in several spots this week on a road in Berne Township, about 30 miles southeast of Columbus. He says some of the panties were still folded the way they'd come in packaging, while others appeared to have been worn. There were nearly 1,700 pairs in all…

As I drive around and see different state license plates, I think yay or nay. Some are really cool and some are misses. My thoughts on a couple of them: California - the cursive script is cool, but otherwise bland. Washington - Mt. Rainier and the colors are soothing, but some people don't like it because not all of the state can see Mt. Rainier from where they are...and eastern WA is very different from the Seattle area where most of the population resides. Arizona - not bad Utah - TOO colorful Nevada - washed out with its golden sky...Nevada, in my mind, used to have the BEST plate of all the states: it was called the Big Horn design. The plate was essentially …

Hey guys I just wanted to post a thread on here and say a big "hi" to all my C&G friends! Sorry I have been away for so long but perhaps this is a good time to update everyone on what's been happening to me...... After basically going thru a ton of $h! (who hasn't these last few years), just trying to keep any sort of job after Flex Fund closed down (the auto finance company I was working for) I went to Las Vegas for about 8 months and worked at the Cadillac store there then came back to Southern California in December of 2009. I guess I should change my name to "The L.A." lol because I moved from Orange County up to L.A. to work at Audi of Santa Monica. Found m…

Marcia has never gotten over me cheating on her in 2002. It was a mistake, we were not togeather in the official, formal sense but we were still living togeather and it was a stupid mistake on my part. In the past few weeks our relationship has come to a gridning halt. You might say it smacked into an iceberg and we're sinking... Sofia of course is the real victim & there's a lot of anger, hatred, mixed emotion & confusion between us in this huge emotional divide. Last night, I made what might become the most beautiful "mistakes" of my life when I met up and went on a informal date with a girl I met through the internet. There's so much more…

Yeppers... and he is also single agained. It just didnt work out between me and Erik. The distance killed us. We hadn't seen each other in about a month and half and barely talked at all anymore. So... I finally broke it off with him. He didn't really say much, so I cant say he didn't expect it in a way. And this is besides the fact that I ended up hooking up with a guy I had previously seen. It was one of those things I couldn't help. I wasnt getting what I needed from Erik. I mean, it's quite sad when straight guys will give you more affection than your own BF. So I just did and I don't regret it. I always meant to tell him, but like usual, he never had the time to t…

While out today, standing at a street corner waiting for the walk light, I heard this throaty whail from a car behind me, and not having seen it, immediately I thought that sounds like an Infinity G35 Coupe....sure enough turned to see and it was. It has a great throaty warble to its exhaust. Some others I like are the new Corvette and the Mustang as well as the Audi 4(8cyl). Of course I just love the sound of an eight.

Hey guys, I have a buddy of mine who's typically a Chevy guy but he came across a 2012 F150 XLT EcoBoost. What I'm really looking for is are they reliable... I know it's kind of a loaded question but it's a little difficult to get some answers when Googling it because most that have 150,000 trouble free miles aren't the ones online posting about how reliable their truck is. The ones posting are the ones with premature issues. So, does anybody have any first hand or friends/family have first hand with any of that generation 3.5 EcoBoosts that have issues relating to the engine. AND/OR anybody that has put a lot of miles on their truck without issues. The truck in…

According to Facebook, today is the gas strike. You're not supposed to go buy gas in order to send a message to big oil or something stupid. Apparently they don't realize that reduced use will lead to lower prices, not putting off a purchase for a day? I may go get gas out of spite.

Haven't seen much memorable in the last week. Looking forward to Spring, this winter weather is hanging around too long...33 and flurries today. Saw a gold Chevy Express panel van with the license plate 'I DO HVAC'...clever call out to their occupation, presumably. Also saw a late model silver Subaru Impreza with lot of surface rust on the hood...odd.

An ungodly number of states(22 maybe?) are holding primaries/caucuses today. Go vote. Yes, its just a primary, and yes all the candidates have flaws, but if you dont vote now you're not allowed to bitch about the candidates on the ballot in November. My (rather safe) predictions: Republicans: Romney has a strong showing in MA and UT, McCain squeaks by him in the rest of the states. Ron Paul comes in a pretty respectable third, drops out of the Republican race, waits a bit, then announces he is running as a third party candidate (he ran as a Libertarian in '88) and becomes the first semi-viable third party candidate since Perot in '92. Democrats: More of the sam…

A BPG dealer I've had contact with over the past 5-6 months regarding some of their used/GM Certified inventory has had the following 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi sedan available for the past two months now: It has a tad less than 71k original miles on it, is a fully loaded SSEi model, and from the pictures and e-mails I've received from the sales lady, the car is in excellent condition for its age. The price they're asking is a little high IMO, but as with all used cars I'm sure it could be negotiated to something better. What I'd like to know is if it would be a smart decision to purchase a 9 year-old car like this, especially since a 24-36 month loan woul…

I guess I've never really known much about the Formula Firebird and how differentiated it was from a Trans Am. Someone in my hometown has a '92 Formula Firebird that I believe is supposed to be pretty rare. Could someone give me a quick history lesson on what the focus was for a Formula Firebird vs. a Trans Am (performance, suspension, options, etc)? Maybe like how the IROC was geared toward power while the Z/28 was geared toward handling? I'm assuming they were situated below the Trans Am in price and performance, but what was it that made them so special and some like the '92 so collectible? I tried looking up some info but didn't really find much on them (and did…

At about 11 pm on July 25, 1956, 50 years ago today, the Italian passenger liner Andrea Doria was sailing off of Nantucket, Mass. and due in to NY the following morning. She had essentially crossed the entire Atlantic. However, as the area was blanketed in fog and there was confusion aboard both ships who saw each other's lights up ahead, the Swedish liner Stockholm, with a bow designed to cut through ice, broadsided the Andrea Doria, cutting a gash below the water line that meant her end. About 50 people perished...all at the site of impact. Miraculously, unlike other more rapid sinkings, the Andrea Doria went under at 10:09 am the next day. Furthermore, the French l…

More idle blather from my 'commuting home' brain... An average motorist (let's call him 'Randy'), not particularly an 'enthusiast', has a choice of two to make for his new midsize sedan. Nearly everything else is equal and the prices are right. But one is advertised and in fact has a high-revving 6-cylinder with a redline of 8000. The other is a torquey 6 with a redline of 5500. Since our man Randy is a bleeding heart ecologist, he asks himself: Given the same owner, roads traveled and driving techniques, would the car that requires on average 1500 more RPM to deliver the same level of performance... that extra RPM would have to in …

I like how useful a sedan is (esp with a little one), but I just like driving around in a coupe (guess that's why I have two )....just something about the feel.... What's your most feared driver stereotype? I don't mean just people who annoy you on the road, I mean people you avoid because you think they'll do damage to you or your vehicle. For me, it is women of a certain age in mini-vans. The typical subject is about 104 lbs, has the seat pushed as far forward as possible, wears giant Jackie O sunglasses, and is an assistant manager somewhere. She only has two modes of driving; slow and erratic in the left lane while arguing on the phone or Michael Schumacher with a bad case of diarrhea and searching an unfamiliar place for a toilet. So how about it? Who out there makes you fear driving?

A major American metropolis has been decimated. Water is up to and beyond 20 feet deep in some places, and most of that water won't naturally receed since New Orleans sits seven feet below sea level on a marsh. Lawlessness reigns in many parts of the area with rescuers in boats and helicopters being shot at. Tourists trying to find shelter are being beaten and mugged. Those sheltered in New Orleans' convention center are also being beaten and raped. The police chief of the city said teams of his men have been beaten back. Numbers of National Guardsmen are down because many units are deployed - guess where? - in Iraq and Afghanistan. Good thing they're…

Is he gay or straight? At a glance, the key to telling might be in the way he walks. A swing of the hips or a swaggered shoulder is enough for many casual observers to identify a man’s sexual orientation, according to a study published in the September issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Observers were only able to accurately guess the sexual orientation of men; with women, their guesses didn’t exceed chance. But what’s most interesting to researchers is understanding how that snap judgment can unleash a series of stereotypes — even from the most liberal-minded. “This is important for the understanding of perception and feelings of assumptions…

Well... not really... but help me buy one. I'm finding the increasing need for a truck/SUV. I have never been a fan of them so I don't know much about them. I'm looking for a good used deal. Here are the criteria: 1. Has to be Big 2.5. 2. Has to be full sized. I need to put big things like doors and appliances in it. 3. Would *like* a diesel, but not a deal breaker. 4. Would *like* 4wd, most likely a deal breaker. Edit: I'm keeping the CTS. This would just be a work truck for tending to my apartment buildings.

One thing I've never understood. How can people who are clearly in the wrong return the finger? I was biking today and got cut off by someone who just had to slam on the brakes at the stop light anyways. I let her have it through the open window and gave her the finger. She returned it and truly enraged me. Took everything in me not to beat the living crap out of her in front of her kids. I don't get it - why risk this? I'm clearly already enraged by her, why would she want to make it worse?

Since I started working I've been trying to get to bed a decent time so I can get 7-8 hours of sleep, be up at 6:30 so I can be well rested and ready for work at 8. That means going to bed at 10 or 11. Well it's 12:38am right now so you can see where this is going. Last week I did pretty well. However by nature I'm a night owl, and unfortunately I haven't been able to get to sleep this week until 1 or 2am. Well it finally caught with me and I fell asleep as soon as I got him untl 10:30. So Now I've had about 6 hours of sleep and I'm awake again. meh... What are your sleeping habits like?

The fine folks over at C&D just got a piece on the new M4 Comp Pkg up- C&D M4 Compt Pkg Test Almost 90K for a coupe built off base sport/lux sedan bones seems steep, even for an admitted BMW fan such as myself. So let's see what you gents make of this scenario. Base price is $74,845, but as-tested was $89,995. So let's use a range of $75,000-90,000. Rules are as follows- 1) Must be a 2 door performance coupe of some kind. 2) Must be a new 2016-17 MY car on sale now. 3) MSRP MUST be AT LEAST $75,000, but NO MORE THAN $90,000.

Yup, he just killed another one. It was a huge one this time, and he has a hole in his nose to show for it. It must have pissed him off when it bit him, because he just wouldn't stop chomping on it long after it was dead. I think he broke every bone in its body. Sure is interesting living with a couple of wolves.

Lately I've gotten into the habit of drinking more and more water. I'm 16, and prior to this year, I rarely drank water at all. I've noticed that I feel healthier overall and have really learned to enjoy it. I drink both bottled and tap water (I don't prefer one over the other), but know people who refuse to drink tap. Personally, I have no problem filling up straight from the sink. Recently I've learned that tap water can actually be better for you than anything out of a bottle. According to some recent studies, bottled water can have more bacteria and less fluoride than regular old tap water. Moreover, bottled water isn't held to the same standards regarding fi…

During my October road trip, I met someone from ChevyTalk.org who was a student of my grandfather in Ames OK. During the evening conversation, he happened to mention he used to live in Ames OK ... where my Mom and her brothers/sister/parents had once lived ... and we quickly discovered the connection, once I mentioned my grandfather's name. With that experience in mind, where all have YOU lived? I'd bet some of us are "more connected" than we think.... As for me, I've lived in Elgin all my life, except, of course, for semesters at college in N Manchester IN (near Fort Wayne) ... and a month in Nashville TN in September 1996.... There are rumblings in various states about legalizing pot. I think it's only a matter of time before it happens nationwide. So, I'm just curious, if pot becomes legal and generally available, would you start using it if you don't already? If you already use pot, would you use it more? I tried it a couple of times in college and didn't like how it affected me. I say legalize it if they want, but I won't be using it.

Your car, I mean. Don't call the cops on me for child abuse I mean, back in the days with my Cavalier, I noticed the rougher I drive it, the better it runs. At one point, I pamper it all the time, and it constantly gives me random problems. Specifically, I had this intermittent starting problem which the dealer couldn't diagnose. But then I started driving it rough, hard accelerations, quick starts with no warmups, almost to the point that I'm doing donuts with it. But it ran much better and problem-free. But now, since I have the G6, I have mixed feelings. I don't want to rough it up, since it's still fresh off the lot, but I'm afraid I might run into the "problems"…

Or have we all come down with a case of Fall Blues? Yes, this includes: -Bickering about the Aveo vs. the Fiesta -Bickering about a rwd Buick vs. a rwd Cadillac -Bickering about a rwd Cadillac in general -Finding some small comment to bicker about regarding all three subjects or some other subject We might as well dust off a thread about Pontiac or Zeta and start bickering about that while we're at it, just to come around full circle. No, this isn't about who is/isn't guilty. That's not the point here. Yeah, I know that Fall means the immanent approach of Winter, but I think we can do better than this.

Doesn't get much more intentional looking than this. The shape of a door edge is pretty easy to see in the impression and it's obviously too deep to be an "oops" tap.

Not much going on so far in the new year...was out in the backyard after sunset and spotted what appeared to be a CUV w/ full width (multi-segment) headlights drive by... bright white HID...appeared to be something midsize and aerodynamic, didn't look like aftermarket lighting (not an off-road light bar). it was too dark and far away to see exactly what it was...reminded me of the old Mercury Villager minivan but something modern...any idea what I saw? Was not a a Rivian..;)

Well, The company I was working for went belly-up.......so I've been back on the job market. Ironically, one of my closest friends (who has owned his own dealerships before, and ran a BMW and a Mercedes-Benz store here in Orange County) has moved recently to Las Vegas and is running a Cadillac dealership there.....and he wants me to come work for him and build and run his internet sales department! This could be a great opportunity, I'd be working for a Caddy store, with one of my closest friends (whom I've worked for before at Irvine BMW....so we know we work really well together) and it would be a fun career change. What do you guys think? I'd keep my condo her…

MYFOXNY.COM - Some New York City chefs and restaurant owners are taking aim at a bill introduced in the New York Legislature that, if passed, would ban the use of salt in restaurant cooking. "No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of any food for consumption by customers of such restaurant, including food prepared to be consumed on the premises of such restaurant or off of such premises," the bill, A. 10129 , states in part. The legislation, which Assemblyman Felix Ortiz , D-Brooklyn, introduced on March 5, would fine restaurants $1,000 for each violation. "The consumer needs to make their own health choices. J…

So, I guess this may be the part where everyone says something like, "I told you so!" but I have a problem regarding the Rabbit, and was wondering what you all think about the situation. The other night (a bit after 7pm) I was on my way home from work and stopped at a light here in Coldwater. I happened to catch a whiff of burnt oil or the like and of course assumed it had come from another car. But, pulling away from the stop, the clutch take up and response was suspiciously mushy. Later on in the evening out with friends, we all noticed the smell, and upon coming to a stop, smoke came from under the hood! We found a liquid (very light golden colour) softly drippin…

2001 Ford Focus ZX3: 2.0L DOHC Zetec 4 cylinder (130 HP) 5 speed manual transmission 1157 lbs 13 gallon fuel tank. 2001 Ford Mustang GT convertible: 4.6L SOHC V8 (260 HP) 4 speed automatic transmission 1533 lbs 15 gallon fuel tank. From my house to "the city" (You know, the one the lady with a little too much gum in the Avalon commercials refers to): 124 miles. Yet somehow, by my calculations, I get almost the same fuel mileage... It's magical, I tell ya! A few things to consider though; 95-97% of that trip is highway and I am an exceptionally smooth driver. I use cruise control, 5 MPH over the speed limit, the whole way. First leg of the trip is 70-75 MPH, s…

Today my friend and I (the one with the Corolla) were getting out of clas to go to somewhere in Mass to take pictures for my photography class. We got in my the car (I had the Intrepid today) and I started it up. I went behind the seat to get my camera out. Apparently he either forgot I started it or didn't think I turned the key al; the way because he asked Him: "Is the car on?" Me: "yeah" I put it in reverse back out Him: "Wow, it's really quiet" Seems every time we go for a ride in it he's more impressed with the car. So how quiet (GTOs and other loud V8s/purposely loud vehicles need not apply ) or how refined is your vehicle's engine? Like I've said before…

so we finally get a bunch of snow with in 15 minutes of driving i see a blazer wrapped around a telephone pole and jeep into a tree. I guess people don't know that you cant do 30 down side streets when its snowy out. Unnecessary loss of cars really. In the intersections people wait for the last 5 feet and brake only to realize there on ice. and go across the intersection. What happened to basic knowledge? Michigan has been getting snow for millions of years now. Its like its the first time people saw the stuff.

Reading FOG's thread quiet praise for the Cavi and how well it did it's job, got me thinking: What are some good cars/trucks out there that most people may not think so highly of? I could start with a few: 1.)The Cavalier, of course. These cars tend to do pretty well in almost everything... it's kinda sad it was so far behind most of the time.... Pretty much everyone I know (there were a few bad apples) were/are pretty happy with their Cav. I've noticed the engines will easliy outlast the body. I had to finally get rid of my 93 (the 3.1 was still running strong at almost 150k) beacuse it was rusty.... They tend to hold up well to abuse, and are pretty cheap to fix.…
