Lounge Rules
While the Lounge is for members only, there are two key points we wish to have our members abide by:
1) Please use office talk. Talk that you would not use around the office, or infront of your boss for that matter, please do not use here on C&G
2) No political talk. There are plenty of forums on the 'net for that. Lets keep C&G free of political talk.

Pretty slick, but not so much @ night, me thinks. Also, the illusions may start to crack once the first pair of dirty socks lays heaped against a wall for a few days. Also needs to upgrade the ante' in the garage if this is a design-intensive project. FWD-proportioned wedges aren't going to butter the biscuits here. LINKY

I don't know how it's doing anywhere else, but today we probably sold more cars than all of the other days I've worked there combined. It was nuts. We were constantly getting something for delivery, and they were working on more sales when 5PM rolled around too (which is when I leave).

So I'm graduating on Friday, and I don't really know what I want for graduation. I really don't have many ideas, so maybe you guys have some good ones. But, one idea I have is the black taillamps from the 06 GTOs. What does everyone think and what would be some other good gifts to ask for instead?

normally this would go in the auto show section but mpls is not a major show so its basically like going car shopping, but i thought i would post some observations. more people read the lounge anyways. it was a really scaled down autoshow. no concepts hardly and not much for glitz in displays. nearly no models. GM in particular was next to nothing. it really made the GM portion look sad. Gave the impression that GM is dead. on the whole, it was a ripoff for 10 bucks admission and 10 bucks to park, but fortunately, Ford and Mercury each will be sending me 50 buck gift cards after a test drive. that will make it pay off. comments......

Check this out: The quote that makes this post worthy: The Library of Congress estimated that (of his record collection just from 1948 to 1967) only 17% of it is available for sale to the public in ANY media. That's staggering. I surfed onto this site where the video was embedded. http://jumpwithjoey....01_archive.html

"Finding trust & love is not always easy to make" __ Yael Naim __ 'New Soul' After experiencing a roller coaster last weekend of July, I decided to post 1 last "commentary". We live in a very small world. And, we don't always realize it. Fellow "roadie" Denny G & I have had several "misses" meeting in person, including a stop in Amarillo TX in 2011. We were in that town the SAME night, but didn't realize it until a day or so later while comparing "current road trip" notes. So, when Denny told me about his Route 66 trip this year, we were determined to meet. Before he left, we briefly discussed the possibility of me driving with him to St Louis, Friday, 07/2…

Here's to posts about music, cars, and bashing Buickman. And I couldn't have done it without you all. (And Charger4U's Word Association threads. )

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/10-bad-luck-cars.html The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety offers consumers valuable data about current automobiles. By compiling and analyzing claims information, the data helps drivers choose the safest vehicle available when considering what car to purchase. The most recent issue of the IIHS Status Report, published Sept. 20, contains a table of personal injury protection (PIP) claims for cars manufactured between 2009 and 2011. It also ranks the 10 most dangerous cars on the road by that metric. The data shows that smaller cars were involved in accidents with the most frequency. This is partially a matter of physics, since a small …

Hi everybody I am new on this forum but recently i found an article about toyota's interesting facts. Hope you will enjoy reading it as i did. P.S. It is not a spam. 1) Who’s The Greenest Of Them All? Toyota Is! It’s official, folks. Toyota managed to outrun all the fierce rivals in the industry and is crowned as the number one Global Green Brand. Yep, the company really does care for the environment. Remember their campaign with the Prius in 2004, when Orlando Bloom and half of the Hollywood celebrities arrived at the Oscars in a Toyota Prius? Well, that made a very big impact on the society, believe it or not, and since then the number of environ…

Yahoo Autos has this really interesting article on actual car (truck and tractor) parts being transformed into every day furniture. Read the article here: http://autos.yahoo.com/news/10-pieces-of-awesome-automotive-furniture-014620673.html I'm interested in the first showing, the blue collar reclaimed bench. I may seriously pursue looking into having something like this done for me. I'd like to find a '55-'66 GMC stepside tailgate, have it restored and then converted into a bench. What automotive-related piece of furniture would you like to have?

http://editorial.autos.msn.com/listarticle...umentid=1069499 There is a subtle but important difference between fashion and a fad. Fashion is the inevitable evolution and refreshment of taste and style in everything from clothing to automobiles, which keeps those things from getting tiresome and stale. Fashion drives innovation for the sake of innovation, and it is generally considered a good thing. On the other hand, fads such as fuzzy dice are as ephemeral and unpredictable as fashion, but in the end are just plain silly. With the benefit of hindsight, it’s generally pretty easy to recognize a fad, but for each of the designs, technologies or accessories below, ther…

Yahoo, reprinted a story by "The Street" that covers the top 10 WORST auto's ever in the world. Seems 8 of the top 10 are right here in the US. Look at the 10 and tell me if you agree. They start by saying #10 is the 1979 Oldmobile Station wagon Diesel and end with the #1 worst Pontiac Aztek. The pictures are in the order of the story. Their justification is interesting. Some of it I do feel is personal experiance versus actual fact, but each person is entitled to their opinion. http://autos.yahoo.com/news/10-worst-cars-of-all-time-revisited-012257791.html;_ylt=Al5rVgaNjh2_MKSMECEr4nImhvZ_;_ylc=X3oDMTduaWFhdTdlBF9TAzIxNDY4NjI2MzAEYWN0A3RpdGxlBGN0A3N…

Well, looks like I'm the first person on C&G 3.0 to breech the 10,000 post mark, so horray me. What makes it interesting to me is that several members are hot on my tail with posts in the 7, 8, and 9,000s. Also, keep in mind these number are somewhat skewed by the fact that this version of C&G has only been up for part of our near-6-year history - let's hope we don't have to start over again! Another thing that stands out to me are our relatively 'small' membership numbers, close to 4,000 now. Again, those numbers are skewed because of database crashes, but it seems like if you register for an account here, you intend to post. And chances are that if you post, yo…

I actually found this on myspace and laughed my ass off at its absurdity. Especially #8. 1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control. 2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children. 3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children. 4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful. 5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed …

13 Little-Known Punctuation Marks We Should Be Using Adrienne Crezo Because sometimes periods, commas, colons, semi-colons, dashes, hyphens, apostrophes, question marks, exclamation points, quotation marks, brackets, parentheses, braces, and ellipses won't do. 1. Interrobang You probably already know the interrobang, thanks to its excellent moniker and increasing popularity. Though the combination exclamation point and question mark can be replaced by using one of each (You did what!? or You don't read mental_floss?!), it's fun to see the single glyph getting a little more love lately. 2. Percontation Point or Rhetorical Question Mark The backward quest…

The entire convention center floor was not even utilized this time around (mfr's not ponying up for space, or the cost was too high). Hardly any concept cars. To put a new Focus ST on a platform does not make it a concept car! I thought I would spout some miscellaneous ramblings about the things I observed. By alphabet...........

Just an observation. At time of writing this, 14 out of 69 posts today were GM focused. I'm just throwing this out there: Is C&G becoming more a general automotive interest(and much not related to anything automotive) forum rather than a GM 'cheers and gears' forum? Was it always this way? Does it matter? ( And for the record, I'm as 'guilty' as anyone else).

1957 was a great year for cars...Ford outsold Chevrolet, Chevrolet introduced its legendary Bel Air, a few companies introduced fuel-injection to American cars, and Chrysler reached a peak in styling with the Forward Look. Especially nice were the '57 Imperial and De Soto Adventurer convertibles. Check out these two '75s going up for sale soon...the Imperial was even owned by Howard Hughes at one point. * No joke, this is a 1965 Dodge Dart with a Pontiac nose! Would you drive it? http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/06/16/twist-tuesday-22/ Every so often, I feature a different spying-eye radar type image. In this case, it is a TV series scene: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/06/16/tuesday-tv-22/ &, an imagine from Day 1 of my most-memorable road trip: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2015/06/16/tuesday-trip-22/ Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "Why'd you do it?" __ Reba McEntire __ 'The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia'

There is a 1967 Impala SS fastback sitting at Orangeville Motors. We took a look at it and it is nice. It is a Southern Car and it has 134 miles on it. It has everything original. It is numbers matching. It has the Vinyl top. Disc brakes, Rallye Wheels which was the first year for them. It even has the redline tires. It has bucket seats, a tach and gauge package and shoulder belts. It is also an air conditioned car from the factory. It has the 327 motors with the Turbo 400 auto trans. It is in very good condition and runs well. It is seliling for $16,500 CAN. Would this car be a good investment since it has all the rare options and will it appreciate much in value in comi…

While digging out a gift for a certain road-tripping member here, I decided to get these out and snap some pics. And now I will share here. These are from 1967 and were given to me by the person whose name is on the original mailing tube from 1967. What's funny is that when I got these 20 years ago, I was jazzed because there were GTO pics here. Now I am a bigger fan of the 2+2.

I am absolutely in love with these cars... there is just something about them that whenever i see a picture i stare for a good 5 minutes... at this point i have decided that if i could own only one classic car from the 60s... above any camaro, corvette or GTO... i would want a 1967 Catalina coupe... do any of you guys happen to know production numbers for these things... or any other information that may help me get an idea of my chances of finding one once i graduate college and save up enough money for it? any help at all would be greatly appreciated... and any pictures you may have that dont show up on google images would be awesome... give me more to stare at than j…

Linkypoo If it were a different color combo, I would want it more, but white over blue isn't exactly hot in my mind. On top of that, I dont think I could ever justify a 40 year old car with a 462 V8 as a daily driver. But damn it looks like its in good shape.

Most of you probably remember my Buddy Sean's 1969 Camaro. I posted some pics of it after he dropped an early 70s big block (454) into it and a 4-speed Super-T10 trans. Well, he's run into some bad luck and now as of 4:00am this morning we put the car on eBay for sale. Check it out and spread the word. 1969 Camaro SS built as Z/28 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-C...sspagenameZWDVW

1969 Chevrolet Impala - A Car In August (Published in "Motor Trend", November 1968) (Top) An infinite prairie of grass accentuates Impala changes for 1969, including flared wheel wells and ventless side glass. Although Impala sports entirely new sheetmetal, subtle body changes are not immediately apparent. (Above) 1969 trunk space is adequate and similar in size to 1968. Spare is still far forward and difficult to reach for women. (Right) Equipment fills floor and bucket seat. Chevy bucket seats are contoured to fit the back firmly and are extremely comfortable; there is little sliding or swaying in even the tightest corners. If you want to test a 1969 Chevro…

Usually I don't like big obnoxious rims on classsic Muscle I think 17" is as big as I would ever go. If you put 20" rims on a '69 Camaro I think chances are you have a 0.7" long $hlong. That being said I LOVE this customized Camaro. The sleek polished aluminum rims, low profile tires, killer stance, Baldwin Motion paint scheme and Super Scoop hood make it just right.

The seventies are much miligned as are cars from the era. Lets look back and see what all the fuss was, say 1975. First, let's take a look at the Mercury Bobcat.

check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-Nissan...1QQcmdZViewItem If only it were 2000 miles closer and the price $300 (like my '84) versus $3000. I'd buy it and make a beater out of it... run it on vegetable oil (bio-fuel) and then hold on to it for a spare car/parts car. :P

Didn't want to throw this into the GM Merchandise forum, since these arent readily available. But, since I was cleaning up around here and found these I thought I'd snap a couple pics and throw 'em up. I mentioned these to Cort last week. Got these in fall of '84 when the '85s came out. These were the ones on the wall at the Chevy dealer. They are fairly thick cardboard. Wanted the Vette and Camaro ones, but a salesman snagged them. So I ended up with a bunch, but these are the only two I have left. I had Chevette, Citation X-11, Astro, and Silverado ones (those that I can remember anyway). Funny part was that in '89, I bought an '85 Eurosport like this one exce…

just found this on the front page of ebay motors. its a 1985 IROC camaro that wasnt even dealer prepped when it was bought and taken home. The price is unjustifiable but how cool is it with that few miles. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=130289154362

http://njection.com/blogs/autoblog/archive...t-included.aspx If you were able to suddenly don a mullet and hop in Doc Brown's time machine to travel back to the year 1985, you'd find that the pinnacle of affordable performance was available at your local Chevy dealership in the form of the Camaro IROC-Z. This was the first year that the Z was offered, and this particular example came equipped with the Camaro's first Tuned Port Injection engine, in this case displacing 305 cubic inches and offering up an impressive-for-the-day 215 horsepower, hooked up to a four-speed automatic transmission. Other uplevel bits included 16" 5-spoke alloy rims and meaty 245/50ZR16 tires cr…
