I have long wondered on C&G we share alot of our GM car buying pleasures or lack there-of in some case. We also share are like or dis-like with what products they are coming out with and what they could be doing better. My question is ultimately anyone can get on this forum and read this stuff are GM exces reading our posts? Listening to our comments? Or advice? I just always wondered that I understand were "just" customers but GM would be wise to listen to most of the folks around here some more... So anyone have a clue? A mod or regular poster?

Today it was announced by the owner of our dealership... a mandatory 10% pay cut for all employees, in a belt-tightening move. Morale has taken a nosedive. I figure I will lose income very near the amount of my truck payment per month. Our sales are down 30% from last year. It ain't looking good. I am considering dropping my gym membership (only $15/mo) and my land line telephone... along with selling my truck, for real, among other things, just to keep going. I just spent 4 miles and about 4 minutes behind a Toyopet Camry that was blocking the passing lane in a 65mph zone, driving about 65/70 and refusing to yield after several motorists flashed their lights, honked horns & even flipped him off. This stretch of highway is usually flowing at about 85mph this time of day, same traffic flow, and all else being the same. Freightliners carrying gasoline tankers & Mack trucks hauling bulldozers were whizzing by him in the center lane while a line of about a dozen cars is behind this inconsiderate prick. Outrageous.

If Autonews' new future product predictions for GM are any indication, GM is going down the tubes in terms of desirable and unique products. Pontiac's going to sell rebadged Chevys, Saturn is getting products delayed or cut right and left, Cadillac and Buick are never going to turn their images around because they're going to keep old, uncompetitive cars around until they can't pay people to take them, and Chevy gets globalized and attempts to keep afloat by selling cars, not SUVs. Yeah, super exciting topic, right? We all went out to brunch last Sunday and she wanted me to drive so I didn't want to pass up the chance (I had not driven it yet). It's an 04 Vue, with about 20k miles on it, that she purchased back in 06 upon our suggestion (yes, she only drives about 2 miles to work each day). I have to say I didn't think it drove that well. Yup, it's August... the "dog days" of summer. What have you seen out on the roads? This afternoon on the way home from a BBQ at my bro's house, I stopped at his local Chevy/Buick/Pontiac store. In a chaotic world sometimes gone mad, do you ever have those moments of just simple contentment? This morning, had breakfast in bed, it's quiet except for some roots type music, softly playing on CKUA.com online, laptop on my lap. Brand new sheets and pillows, got more premium, so worth it. Tonight my friend called me up asking me some car advice. He drives a black 2002 Taurus SES with 65K miles and was offered a great deal on an '04 LeSabre Custom. The LeSabre only has 25K miles and is excellent shape; my honest opinion with him was that if you can get past the stigma these cars had, you'll be getting a larger, more powerful car with an excellent track record for reliability. In 1997 I was only 40 do that math on that one. Had a seven year old son and four year old daughter. Owned a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix with less than 60,000 miles on the clock and a 1987 Olds Delta 88 Sedan with barely 90K on her. This was before my addition to the house and car buying spree 2001-2008 life was simpler and cheaper. Another interesting fact was I dug out an old National Geo something I don't get anymore and found over 10 different GM ads in it. And two of them caught my eye each for BOF SUV's. I was talking to a guy the other day about a Caprice wagon and the SPID sticker said 1A2. The 1A2 RPO code was the special service code for fleet/police vehicles. However, this wagon was used for police service in Canada and was 1 of 8 imported that year. Only 70 were made for total production. OK I start a new Job in Germany on September 1st. So I decided to go with a new look, I decided to go with a full beard. So far most of my life I have been clean shaven, but I did have a moustache in my early 30's and a trimmed beard for a while in my 30's too and a goatee for the last 6 months. Today I woke up early with all sorts of grand plans to get things accomplished. I took care of the dogs and walked to the Silverado to go get my morning coffee - that's when things turned bad. I find most forum Topic Titles are so long. It's like the whole story is in the title. Hard to read at a glance. Could we go with an unwritten rule keeping it to 5 words or less in the main title and subtitle? Think of what newspapers and magazines do with their titles. Just an idea. What do you think?

I was thinking about what I should do with the Cobalt in the near future, and it got me thinking....which do you prefer, coupe or sedan? I like how useful a sedan is (esp with a little one), but I just like driving around in a coupe (guess that's why I have two )....just something about the feel.... This one is not for the faint of heart, but $1200 seems like sort of a deal if it is indeed a real Can-Am, which all the photographs point to (stripes, rear window louvers, duck tail spoiler, etc.). I just noticed I have some tar/asphalt crap on my tire, it's probably about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide. We just had the parking lot refinished at work, and I'm pretty sure that's the culprit. Yes, sad but true, my vacation is over, time to go back to work. I leave tomorrow morning for Switzerland. On the bright side, Mr. Burns has given me a new job assignment starting on September 1, 2008. It will bring me back to the Fatherland on special assignment. While I may hate the summertime cold coffee-based drinks or the $4 coffee drinks, I really like the coffeehouse environment - Starbucks, Peet's, Borders Cafe, B&N Cafe. My son Justin celebrated his 3rd birthday recently (08/08/08) and this was one of two presents from me, the wife, and my step-son (the other was a new Tonka-themed boys 14" bike). Here's one with the happy owner: He is extremely pleased with his Fisher Price Power Wheels Ford F150 STX with Monster Traction! He got it Saturday afternoon and has spent an hour or two driving it everyday since.

Warning-this is a rant, but it is how I really feel. This comes in part from Miata net and hanging out with a few of the VW/Audi guys...and talking with people at work or in various social circles. I'm sure most people receive these email scams from time to time. from time to time i read these scams because they have an interesting title or seem like they could be from an aquantance or someone who wants me have certain knowledge about something. I read this one today, an email I received, I will share with you because not only does it involve a cash prize, but a Toyota... I did not know where to post this topic. Mods feel free to re-assign the topic. I was always curious about why members chose the call sign for cheers and gears. While some are obvious, others can be a bit more cyptic, while others use just their name. It would be fun to find out a bit more about the C & Gers. Well... it is good, I suppose, to learn where one's breaking point is. After tomorrow, I will have worked 30 of 31 days in January, only taking my B-day off {panicing; ocnblu scans his master list}. Some days were as light as 5 hrs, some as heavy as 11. Apparently, 29 days is about it, as I saw a few instances of failed processing & motor skills today, which is not good when you're a neurologic surgeon. I was out and about, and bought this for my son's birthday. That got me thinking about getting an RC car of my own. Maybe this 1:24 Chevy Wrangler (I laughed when I saw that on the website) or an FJ Cruiser/Hummer type off roader so I can play with it in the back yard. Toys R Us did have a couple cars that I'm interested in, one is a green Barracuda that looked pretty cool, the other is a Porsche 911 that is incredibly detailed, but $65 for something that I'm going to burn the motor out on then disassemble for fun seems like a waste. Wal-Mart did have a Hot Wheels BMW M6 on clearance, but I hate RC cars that only use AA batteries.
