#1 Take decent pictures - preferrably not ones that I have to run through an FBI image enhancing lab and piece together like a puzzle. #2 Be reasonable - Just because you spent $6000 putting $h!ty equipment on a $300 car doesn't mean it is therefore worth $6300. #3 Think within means - People who shop Ferrari don't shop Craigslist #4 Keep it real - Don't try to sell woefully phony cars. #5 Know what you're selling - If you don't remember what kind of car you're offering, go out and read the name off of it. #6 Speak English - When selling a car to a large audience, don't use stupid cliquey terms that you and your other four broke, unemployed…

So I am shamelessly copying idea of Doug DeMuro from the Autotrader: What cars would you buy with the Super Bowl bonus? Winning team supposedly gets $107k, and the loosing team $53k. So: 1. What car/cars would you buy with $107k? 2. How would you spend $53k? Old or new, anything goes.

Alright, we have reached the pinnacle of engines in terms of how many cylinders are stuffed in a block in widely produced cars. Although this has primarily been the stomping grounds of European brands in late years, there WERE other brands than made V12's. Cadillac, Lincoln, and Toyota among them. The rules are the usual and as follows- 1) Production cars only 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These are your only vehicles. 4) Cars must have 12 cylinders, obviously. NO HYBRIDS!! 5) You have 5 choices. After creating a top 5 list, you may expand it to 10. Enjoy.

I was so happy to see this: http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20060624/en_tv_...HNlYwN5bmNhdA-- Futurama will be back (with Billy West, John Dimaggio and Katey Segal) on Cartoon Network in 2008. While the Simpsons have really lost their bite, Futurama was just hitting its stride when FOX assured that it would fail by pre-empting with crappy football, changing dates and times to a point where fans had no idea if it was going to be on or not. All right! It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two liter bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix tape, let's rock!

So, what were the worst seats you have experienced in a car you've owned or driven regularly? For me it was the painful seats in an '85 Mercedes Benz 300TD wagon. It was like sitting on a concrete block.

My coworker in the cubicle next to me bought a '17 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in gray...very sharp. We were out in the parking garage with a bunch of our coworkers checking it out and my Limited which were parked side by side...noting the various commonalities and differences. One error on the Trailhawk (in that medium gray) is that the left side window trim is all black while the right side trim is all black except for the back quarter window, which has bright window trim like my Limited. A factory 'oops' I presume. Sharp rig, though..

So I've been itching to reduce my carbon footprint around town for a while, and what better way to do that than to drive a vehicle which will likely end up killing me! I've been eying bikes over the past year, and casually gone to dealers, Harley's 'Test our Metal' gig, and a big show last February. I've sat on quite a few different types, and seem to have found that I'd be most satisfied with something out of the 'cruiser' category. This might change, of course. My problem is down to figuring out what I should be looking at in this category. I have no real brand loyalty, and just want something that will suit my needs. I'm 200 pounds, about 6'1. The purpose of the bik…

As I've shared previously in different threads, I was startled awake on the morning of July 26. My alarm went off as usual at 6am, but 2 minutes later ... BOOOOOOMMMMMM ... SNAP/CRACKLE ... HISSSSSSS. Then, dead silence. I sat bolt upright in bed ... realizing everything electric (or so I thought) was off. I scampered out of my room headed up the steps, instinctively turning on the stairway light .... and, wowa, ... light. So, I turned back into my room ... and flipped some of the circuit breakers and the entire house had power again. Next door neighbor heard it, too. We believe it was a lightning strike. Background: Tamils are a distinct ethnic group within Sri Lanka (island nation south of India). There's been a civil war raging since 1983 between the Sri Lankan government and the Tamil Tiger rebel movement. The Sri Lankan government is just now clearing out the last of the Tamil areas, and is nearing military victory. There is a huge Tamil population in Toronto, as many of them have left due to the conflict. Over the past couple of months there have been massive protests downtown with the goal of getting the Canadian government to help the Tamils. Depending on who you ask, they are freedom fighters opposing genocide of their people, or a terrorist organization. I real…

The Cruze is being introduced to the US in 2010 and so is BAS II. GM has stated that BAS II is platform flexible, unlike BAS I. The press release and interviews about BAS II seemed to focus alot around the use of a turbo with the system. Could GM be "smart" enough to introduce BAS II with the Cruze? What about the Orlando? If the combined gas mileage for a 1.4L Turbo Cruze was 32 mpg, which is not unreasonable considering statements made by the company, than a Cruze with the 1.4L Turbo, with flexfuel capability, and BAS II could/should be 38 to 39 combined mpg. That would provide some major help to GMs EPA #s and would be great PR.

Probably an old joke, but I came across this while reading jokes about engineers. -- The Pontiac that was Allergic to Vanilla Ice Cream For the engineers among us who understand that the obvious is not always the solution, and that the facts, no matter how implausible, are still the facts ... A complaint was received by the Pontiac Division of General Motors: "This is the second time I have written you, and I don't blame youfor not answering me, because I kind of sounded crazy, but it is a fact that we have a tradition in our family of ice cream for dessert after dinner each night. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Space shuttle Atlantis thundered away on its final voyage to orbit Friday, hoisting an experienced crew of six and a full shipment of space station gear. Atlantis sped through a perfectly clear afternoon sky, blazing a trail over the Atlantic before huge crowds eager to catch one of the few remaining shuttle launches. Its destination is the International Space Station, which was soaring over the South Pacific at the time of liftoff. The shuttle should catch up with the orbiting complex and its six residents Sunday. More than 40,000 guests — the biggest launch-day crowd in years — descended on the Kennedy Space Center, all of them eager to witness…

It's frustrating that one's available time (namely vacation) will not support the hopes/plans for vacations and road trips. Given I hope to have a new job soon, my "vacation" time may be even more limited.... Even so, vacation is important ... to have fun, meet people, see friends/family & relax. For whatever reason, I'm not as "organized" in getting plans together for 2006 as I have been the last couple years. Heck, I haven't even started gathering a list of the IL/IN/WI/IA/MI area car shows/events & non-car related gatherings/events I may attend.... I have a coworker and my boss, both were troubled by Cavaliers and swear that they won't get another American car. How would it be possible to talk them back into a domestic? My co-worker has a '94 Cavalier (looks like a VL sedan) that dies often on her, and has now primarily drives a Mazda3. My boss has a '98 Cavalier Z24. Both of them are very unhappy about the reliability of the cars. What's worse, my boss was actually talked away from the Cobalt by her neighbour, who appears to work at GM. I've seen this case alot, too. And usually the same suspects as well: J-bodies.

Ode to the Chevette HSR

Just a little act of homage to the old Vauxhall Chevette HS and HSR, one of my favourite rally cars while growing up. In 1977 Vauxhall commissioned development of the HS by transforming the regular 1256cc bread-and-butter Chevette into a 140bhp powerhouse with a twin-cam 2.3 litre slant-four engine mated to a 5-speed Getrag gearbox. It was a beast among hot hatchbacks in its day, but the trend from RWD to FWD in production cars and from RWD to 4WD in rally cars as the 1970's drew to a close meant its days were numbered. At the time, Opel also had their own works rally team separate from Vauxhall, racing Ascona 400's, and latterly Manta 400's. The HSR enjoyed moderat…

As a timberwolves fan each year it is becoming more and more hilarious how we draft others superstars and trade them away like toddler clothes you give away to the second hand store for a dollar. RAY ALLEN BRANDON ROY (roy=rookie of the year) now this year McFail gives away a promising OJ Mayo and also Chalmers. the level of humor with his deals get worse each year. How in the HELL can we get rid of him? and then trading Garnett too? my gosh.

Yahoo Autos has this really interesting article on actual car (truck and tractor) parts being transformed into every day furniture. Read the article here: http://autos.yahoo.com/news/10-pieces-of-awesome-automotive-furniture-014620673.html I'm interested in the first showing, the blue collar reclaimed bench. I may seriously pursue looking into having something like this done for me. I'd like to find a '55-'66 GMC stepside tailgate, have it restored and then converted into a bench. What automotive-related piece of furniture would you like to have?

Our house was "vandalized" at around 3 this morning. When my dad left for work he noticed that one of the gates to our backyard was wide open and some kid was riding his bike down the street. Well, as it turns out we were the victims of the world's lamest idea of vandalism: -The lid of our grill was taken off and the tin grease trap was thrown into the pool. -A small tray of golf balls we had sitting outside was also thrown into the pool. -A potted plant was moved off a table and set in the lawn. -The hose was turned on. -A dog brush was stolen. What. The. Hell. To be honest, I'm actually kind of amused that someone actually wasted their time trespassing…

I have been having annoying problems since day 1. After my first highway trip in the thing I started to get a strange noise out of the front end while turning the wheel. Well, I brought the car in and they told me it was a strut mount. So a few weeks later when the part came in, it was replaced. The noise disappeared for a week. So, I go back again, and they tell me it is the strut. So I wait 6 weeks for the part to come in. They replace that. Guess what, the noise went away, until my trip to Banff. Now I…

Not that I really should be looking for another "toy" at this time, but I've seen the following 1992 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible for sale in the last couple of issues of the local Auto Shopper and it catches my eye each time: 1992 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible, 118k miles, black leather, V8, auto trans, $5995 Now I've always liked the 1991 & 1992 Trans Ams (especially the GTA models), so when I find one for sale I tend to at least check it out. While Kelley wanted the world to know just how much she loves tofu, the DOR saw it as a profession of love for something else entirely. Coles Notes: OnStar refuses Calgary Police request to track missing vehicle of murder victim because the police call it "missing" instead of "stolen" and don't quote a stolen vehicle file number. By the time that OnStar tracks the truck the system has been tampered with.

EDIT: Now it appears GM says they are coming to the EXPO, but the U of I's site that lists the companies coming doesn't have GM... maybe they just don't know what table they're putting GM at yet. This is a long ways away, but I might be able to get an internship for the summer... there are a lot of companies coming to the engineering job EXPO at U of I, but the only two automotive companies interested in freshman mechanical engineers (what I'm in) are Ford and Rolls-Royce. I think Rolls would be rather boring, so Ford would be my only chocie if I want an internship in the car business (of course there are like 93 companies interested in ME freshmen, so I could get somet…

While watching a new show on speed called pass time (which is very good) i have been introduced to a new form of drag racing. There have been a few electric cars come on the show. One was an electric powered s10 and the other was a pro comp rail style dragster with no less than 450 batteries and an electric motor that was the equivalent of 31 ci. Now being the big fan of big block power houses i am i totally underestimated these cars even though i am aware of an electric car on tv that i saw called "white Zombie" which consistently runs 11.5's. the pro comp style electric drag car ran if i recall correctly right at 9 maybe an 8.80. low and behold here are a few clips from…

PARIS (AP) - The French defense ministry on Saturday called for an internal investigation of the leak of an intelligence document that raises the possibility that Osama bin Laden may have died of typhoid in Pakistan a month ago but said the report of the death remained unverified. "According to a reliable source, Saudi security services are now convinced that Osama bin Laden is dead," said the intelligence report. linkity just in time for the mid-term elections

If you have a decision (major or minor doesn't matter) that you need to make and you've done all of the "pros and cons" lists, etc. ... and still neither side jumps out as the "better" decision ... how do decide? What do you DO to decide? Yeah, I know "give it time" is one answer ... but, what if you feel that you don't have much time to decide? Notice I indicated "better" decision ... as opposed to the "right" decision. Many times a "right" decision doesn't really exist. Even "better" doesn't cut it, because what is "better" for you in your eyes may not be what really IS "better" for you...if that makes any sense. *sighs* Yes, I'm being cryptic and not making much…

Reading this post by trinacriabob, it sparked me to think about my own problems. I just find it really hard to fit into my own age group now. Not that I'm incredibly smart or anything (in fact to be honest I'm more like the last in the class), but I find myself a bit more comfortable with people in different age groups. However, my best friend told me that relationships with older people are very "surficial" (not sure if this is the right word). No offense, but I find this somewhat true. It's really not like you can take things straight out of the heart and express yourself. It's just different. That sort of turned me off from hanging around older people. However, tryin…

OK, as the title: If GM is to start another business, division, group, whatever you call it, what would this be? For me it would be a official modding company. Provide original SS, GXP, V, T-Type, Alpha performance and appeareance modifications while maintaining factory warranty. A bit different from RKSport (don't know if this is owned by GM though), where they only sell parts. My idea is a one stop shop to sell the parts AND provide service like installation.

I had a really odd (to me at least) dream a couple of nights ago. I met BV! I have no idea where it came from because usually my dreams have something that relates to something that I know of or have experienced recently or in the past, and here I am, hanging out and getting along with someone that I have never even me before. Anyway, just thought I'd share this bizarre occurence with the rest of you (rest being as in not myself only). Anyone else have some totally random dream that one doesn't know where it came from?

It was quite the circus..walked around for about 6 hrs, spent an hour or so sitting down watching some of the actual auctioneering. A little something for everyone, mostly '60s-70s muscle cars (massive #s of Chevelles, '67-69 Camaros, Impalas, Bel-Airs). Many, many Mopies ('68-70 Road Runners, '70-72 Cudas, Challengers, '68-70 Chargers, etc). Lots of Mustangs (incl. 2 red '69 Boss 429s) and various Shelbys.. There were quite a few '50s-60s big cars as well..the usual '57 Bel Airs, Corvettes and Thunderbirds, along with a massive '57 Roadmaster conv..a couple '59 Buicks, '59 and '60 Olds, a couple '59 Pontiacs and 4 '61 Catalinas and Bonnevilles.... Some '70s a…
