Boldride had their story published on Yahoo Auto's today. They asked who built the best concept cars and in researching for this story they found even 6 yrs after the production lines stopped, Nobody built better concepts than Pontiac and they were from the 80's! Nobody better than Pontiac Concepts? 1986 Pontiac Trans Sport 1987 Pontiac Pursuit 1988 Pontiac Banshee 1989 Pontiac Stinger Concepts did not stop in the 80's either. Just a taste of what you can find at Boldride web site 1990 Pontiac Sunfire 1992 Pontiac Salsa 2007 Pontiac Solstice So what do you think? Is Pontiac the best out there for building Concepts? If …

Link: http://autoextremist.com/page2.shtml#Rant The Kings of Short-Term Thinking Get Caught Flat-Footed - Yet Again. Detroit. The horrific, gut-wrenching scenes from the Deep South are grim and never-ending, and our hearts go out to everyone in the region, with the scope of the devastation and desperation impossible to comprehend. The effects from Katrina will be felt across this nation for years to come. But beyond the human toll and destruction brought on by the hurricane, we are now experiencing a furious storm of another kind that will cause a fundamental shift in the way the American driving public approaches vehicle purchase decisions and, in turn, a fundamen…

There's really only one thing which can be said to accurately depict my reaction to this movie: With that out of the way, I really enjoyed this movie, and going by the audience applause and cheering at the end, so did a lot of other people. It's far better than the second movie and better than the first. There's a much better defined a plot, nods to the series, the main characters have actual depth now and there's some pretty emotional moments. The Deceptions can be genuinely scarey at times and the action scenes are incredible. It's not Hamlet, but totally worth seeing if you're a Transformers fan.

A sign of the Gay Apocolypse!!!!! I was driving around on some back roads south of my house for something to do, being my bored ol' self. Well, I suddenly came across this sign. Just look at it. We have the town of Dubois (pronounced Do-Boys, which makes this whole occurance alot funnier) 10 miles ahead, Paradise 2 miles to the left, Desire 5 miles to the left, Panic 7 miles to the left, and Stump Creek a mile to the right. If the names weren't wacky enough... if you take 10, divide it by 2, add 5, times that by 7, and subract 1... You get 69!!!!! Hahahaha!!!!!! :rotflmao:

It all started this morning on hempstead turnpike(6 lanes). I stopped at a stoplight like every normal citizen when all of a sudden the saturn got hit from behind. Not enough to deploy the airbags, but hard enough that I was shaking. So, I look back and see some late 20-something year old guy wiping coffee off of his dash. So I put my hazards on and pulled into the nearest parking lot. He followed. Of course he was in a new Sonota. Fortunatelly there was no damage to my car. His front plate was dented but it was his fault. Turns out he was looking to get his coffee for a sip and didn't stop at the light....therefore crashing into me. So, I wasted 5 minute of my life freak…

Hmmm, I think it's finally time to add an SUV to the fleet..... Since I have 3 GM compacts, I'm thinking it would be nice to have a bigger truck to do the stuff that my cars cannot. Like taking a vacation with a toddler. Or trips to Lowe's/Sam's club/Home Depot and such. It's pretty much going to be an extra car, not daily driven (though not for long if my wife likes it) So, It needs to be dependible and cheap. I really don't want a car payment, though I would be okay with a small one for a little while. I've considered the cute ute's (Vue, Nox, Escape) Though I'm thinking more toward the larger Suvs. Solid trucks with no resale value. My likes so far. 98-01 Chevy Ta…

Star Tribune may require sign-in Last update: March 12, 2006 – 8:27 PM Those with thick accents need not apply? A Minnesota legislator says "clear English pronunciation" should be a requirement for instructors at state colleges and universities. Norman Draper, Star Tribune It's a scenario familiar to university students: One or more of your instructors is foreign-born and speaks English with a thick accent. Usually, you can understand, but sometimes it takes an effort. Occasionally, you don't have a clue what's being said. State Rep. Bud Heidgerken, R-Freeport, figures this is a problem and has proposed a solution: He's introduced a bill intended to ensure that all…

I've had this idea for a while, a thread about the different smells of classic cars. Every one of my "classic" cars has had a different smell. The 68 Camaro, 64 Olds, 59 Buick, even the 70s junk I've had... they all have a very distinct smell to them, I'd say my favorite is the Super 88's interior. It's devine. The seats & rugs all smell like a million dollars. It still smells NEW, if 2007 new cars smelled this good they'd suck a lot less. Any cars you've owned that smelled good? Can you tell the differance between a 1930/1940/1950/1960/1970 car? How about GM versus Mopar versus FoMoCo? One of the most depressing things about a fully restored car…

Anyways, they said the instrument cluster glitched while they were driving it, so they ordered us a new one and said they'd call us when it came in. We noticed that when the GTO is just sitting at a stoplight or in park it idles a little rough (just a slight shake every few seconds, nothing too major). So, when my dad brought it to the dealership he asked them to see if they could figure out why it did that (they said it wasn't normal). WHAT IF: GM had fully and properly engineered the Oldsmobile 5.7L diesel V8? Where would diesel powered vehicles be in terms of sales percentage today? I believe that Americans would have bought a lot more of them, which would have led to evolution of the technology for economy and performance. Diesel power would have owned a very large percentage of the U.S. market to this day, as it has in Europe. BUT... we all know how it was handled and were we are today. What do you all think?

Then I remembered an article in the newspaper the other day about a girl from New Orleans who transferred here after everything down there was destroyed. In the newspaper they talked about how she stuffed as much as she could into her Toyota Echo in half an hour and left. The only reason that stuck in my head is because an Echo is tiny and you wouldn't be able to fit much in there. Anyway, the car in front of me was none other than a green Toyota Echo. At a charity event yesterday, Both Obama and McCain gave comedic speeches intended to poke fun at each other and themselves. Interspersed in the speeches were moments of seriousness without the political rancor that poisons most of the things they have been saying lately. It was a breath of fresh air. Obama did a nice job and had some great lines. But McCain killed! He was so funny that not only was I laughing out loud, but so was Obama. Hillary Clinton damn near fell out of her chair - I have never seen her smile so much. The mostly Democratic crowd was roaring. And, in the moments of seriousness, McCain displayed the graciousness and humility that makes him one …

Okay, not really mine per say and I'm just a user along with the rest of the department, but starting in May I'll be able to drive this rig on my own: It's a 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab/utility body that serves as the Traffic Unit/Fire Police vehicle for my local Emergency Services department. Last May I joined the department and by the end of the year was earmarked for fire police. I attended the required course in March, passed and now can serve with the department in that capacity. I have submitted a copy of my driving record last month and it should be official that I can drive the traffic unit truck on calls starting in May. The picture was taken las…

Hey guys. Not only did I attend the Fall AACA show in Hershey on Saturday, I also attended a small car show in Windsor, NJ on Sunday. I took some pictures and have them in a Photobucket album: Link Of particular interest, there were two cars I took pictures of that are for sale: the 1955 Oldsmobile 88 (Red & White two-tone) and the Black & Silver 1978 Riviera Anniversary model. If anyone is interested, I did get phone #'s. The Olds really is nice (window sign stated $19,500); the Buick was equally as nice, is low milage and kept in a garage (I believe the owner is asking just under $9,000). Let me know if you want the phone #'s.

Heard this song a couple of days ago on the radio. Im addicted to it!!! But, Im torn apart inside. I dont know how to handle it. Part of me thinks it screws up the original. Part of me thinks its a total botch job and does the original no justice. HOWEVER....the other part of me...the party animal side of me, the Greek part of me, the part of me where boys will always be boys no matter what age I am and damn it all to hell if Im a daddy...to a....10 year old girl....and she will grow up one day and hopefully will forgo all what transpires in that video and lyrics...but then again...its human nature...I cant stop her from becoming a woman... Anyhoo...I abso…

Well, well, I go to my mailbox and I see a jury summons. I don't mind. I haven't seen one since college when I got an exemption every time. However, they are fairly automated and show a start date with call-in numbers and blah-blah-blah. Do you know if they can adjust the start date by a couple of days? I don't want a postponement...just a movement a couple of days back. What do you know about this?

We're going to expand on the previous few 'YDG' threads here, and this time use use larger displacement forced induction engines. This is a fun one, I think, because it rules out some of the usual candidates. Rules- 1)Production vehicles only. 2)These are your only vehicles. 3)maximum of 5 choices. 4)Any market and era is allowed. 5)Must have engine capacity greater than 4.0 liters, AND have some sort of forced induction. Have fun.

Some fun with friends and family! Enjoy! http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/ My daughter thought she could add ring tones that we couldn't hear, what a surprise she got when I heard her cell phone ring late at night one night, she took me to this site, I could hear up to 21khz, poor Mrs. PCS could only hear 15khz and below, and she is younger than me.

Yet another association from yours truly! This is an asscoiation for those who have a coin holder. Yes this is complete and utter nonsense. The following is the list of requirements to join the association: 1. You must have a coin holder in your car or truck. 2. List in your sig exactly how the Founder or CEO has their title. Bolded/Default Color/Smallest Font "Coin Holders Association Member #__" 3. 2nd member is the CEO while members 3-10 are charter members and receive no benefit, other than a tag like this,Bolded/Default Color/Smallest Font, "Coin Holders Association Charter Member #__, and the CEO should have there tag like this, Bolded/Default Color/Smallest F…

I kinda feel a bit screwed up here. It can be really tough when you hit high and lows at the same time... I'm geeked about my little guy on the way (little Zachary will be born on monday), and couldn't be happier about my family right now... BUT... The job that I was supposed to start next week changed their mind at the last minute (after all the paperwork was done ), Which was supposed to help my growing family, and get the house I we wanted within a few months... Granted, that was rough. But today I get the news that my current job plans to lay me off within the next week or too... and I was like And finding a job in Michigan is not easy. And as much as …

Trying to work things out for a LeMons car...I'll post more later. I'm going to hook up with an SCCA tech guy who is going to teach me about rollcages... I have a POSSIBLE source for some used safety equipment. Said Possible, don't get your hopes up yet. But possible. Checking out problems/issues with running an autotrajic in a race like this. Speeds at LeMons are a good bit slower than a typical SCCA/NASA type race, so I am much less worried about things than I was the last time I posted. Tend to be a guy who worries about and over analyzes everything....however...that has served well for the 44 years I've been on the planet. Looking into cages if we do run…

Today, I was stuck in traffic, like the kind where you can shut your car off, I think there was a person killed in an accident. Thats not the point though. I was bored so I started to read the Owners Manual and I found this Quote " If steam or smoke is coming out of your hood DO NOT touch any thing because it could cause injury or severe burns". No shit Scherlock. Also that "Do not install any Electronic Devices as they may cause your Chevrolet to malfunction and cause a acciedent which can result in injury and or Death." Listen Ricers that aftermarket light bulb can cause your car to malfunction!! Do you find anything that is so retarted o…

What's your favorite piece of crap car? I've always liked certain iterations of the GM W-Bodies. The Cutlass Supreme Coupe with the 3.4 DOHC V-6 (available with a 5-speed Getrag). The supercharged Grand Prix Coupes. The Lacrosse with the 5.3 liter V8. They were always labors of love, but they were great in their own way.
