Seems like this little guy made himself at home. I went there this weekend and there's an Armadillo. He's not scared of us at all. Much less the cat. He doesn't try to attack. Just minds his own business searching for stuff to eat. I thought it was awesome to get this close and take pics.

Within the last couple of weeks, I saw "Slumdog Millionaire." I thought it would a comedy, when someone told me about the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" theme. It was anything but. It was probably one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen If anyone is feeling down, see this movie and you will feel better...we don't have it that bad. A co-worker has also lent me "Shawshank Redemption" and "Primal Fear." They are mid-90s movies I've never seen. Both are also really powerful....the first for all its messages about life (and an unbelievable Morgan Freeman performance) and the second one for the way the courtroom drama and forensics stuff plays out, not to mentio…

Let me set the scene for you a bit.... We (My girlfriend and I) live in the mountains of NC when we're not at school; it's very rural. In fact, we actually live up on a mountain that overlooks a valley, while on the back side of us is a national forest, water reservoir and black bear habitat. My neighborhood is basically built in a network of old logging roads (which were cut in when our mountain still housed mica mines) one of which has been widened and paved up to my cluster of 7 houses where the road (meaning paved part) dead ends. My family and I live in one house and my grilfriend and her family have been our next door neighbors for years. (Way before we were an "it…

I've been eying this 81 'Vette for a couple months, and he's lowered the price a couple times, without any bites. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/cto/902101037.html http://www.buysell.com/root/detail/BC/Coll...blk_beauty.aspx The descriptions suck, and are off-putting, but I may give them a call to see it. I've looked at a couple C3 places to see what the story on these vehicles are in terms of rust, corrosion issues and the like. However, I'm wondering if there are any words from the wise here about anything I should be looking at/concerned about, or any pointed questions I should ask him over the phone?

I have a few others, took this while in a hurry today. This phone is HOT! It's a demo being tested so there are a few bugs but damn man, it's sweet. Also it's not too shiny, however it is a flat black color on plastic. The phone does however feel very, very rigid and stable.

I have been doing some research into what GM was doing in Germany during the Nazi Years, I was surprised to say the least. I decided to post this article here in the lounge where only we members can view it and not the whole world. I was shocked on some of the things I learned. I try to have an open mind when it comes to issues involving GM, I like to see the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, of the company I work for. James D. Mooney thrust his arm diagonally, watching its reflection in his hotel suite mirror. Not quite right. He tried once again. Still not right. Was it too stiff? Too slanted? Should his palm stretch perpendicular to the ceiling; should his arm bend at …

This is really cool, or so says I...a 1970 Chevy K20 powered by the 292 inline six! What a torquer. When I was still farming with my dad, we had a '70 K20, but ours had the 350 V8 and auto trans. It had great scoot but I always wanted the big six. It seemed so "trucky".

http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?arti...281474977067637 Got that in an e-mail this morning. How would we go about disproving a few of the broad, sweeping statements made; particularly the ones where American car manufacturers can't handle costs, blah blah blah. You can tell people facts all day long but they just jump up and down and point to back issues of Consumer Reports, so I need hard facts in black & white (newspaper articles, etc.) to forward this back to all the people it's gone to.

Never Heard That Excuse A fellow bought a new Corvette and was out on an interstate for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair, and he decided to open her up. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph he suddenly saw a flashing red and blue light behind him. "There ain't no way they can catch a Corvette," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 90, 100, 130 and finally 150 with the light still behind him. "What the hell am I doing?" he finally thought and pulled over. The cop came up to him, took his license without a word, and examined it and the car. "I've had a tough shift and this is my last …

This is kind of a spin-off from a comment in the thread discussing the interest in Hummer by a couple companies from India: What would it take for GM to merge some brands? Take the whole clustering of brands (Buick-Pontiac-GMC for example) to the next level, and have them share a corporate shell and legal entity. Let's call it "GM Specialties" for now. Some thoughts: + Dealerships would have a contract with "GM Specialties", not the specific brands contained within. A Specialties dealership (auto boutique?) could order (or not order) any product from the Specialties' included brands, maybe with some requirements/standards as to how the products are displayed …

I'm in DC all this week. I arrived on Sunday. In the two and a half days I've been here I've seen 6 new Toyota Avalon taxi cabs in black or beige just in the small 10 block radius I'm staying. They haven't been beat to hell and back...... yet......but I wonder how they'll hold up over time. Interestingly, DC must not have the age or mileage laws for Taxi cabs as NYC because I have seen a number of B-body wagons from all 3 divisions that made them still chugging about. On my way back from lunch, I was passed by a Custom Bruiser in surprisingly good condition for any 14 year old car, much less a cab.

I found these funny... Facts about Mr. T 1. Every time a bell rings, Mr. T pities a fool. 2. Mr. T speaks only when necessary. His main form of communication is folding his arms and slowly shaking his head. Regardless of the situation, he is always understood. 3. Mr. T once punched Chuck Norris at the exact moment that Norris roundhouse-kicked Mr. T in the chest. The result was the 80’s. 4. Twenty-three. That’s the number of fools Mr. T has pitied in the time it has taken you to read this sentence. 5. Mr. T does not break wind. He destroys it. 6. Mr. T ended the civil rights movement by getting on a bus … all the caucasian people moved to the back. 7. Mr. T i…

m.leftlanenews.com/nissan-recalls-2014-leaf-over-missing-welds.html Nissan has issued a recall for a limited number of 2014 Leaf vehicles. Some of the hatchbacks may have left the factory without proper welds on the front structural member assembly, compromising the integrity of the vehicle. The company suggests the defect may not be noticed unless the vehicle is involved in a crash. Engineers believe the missing welds run afoul of federal safety requirements related to occupant crash protection. The problem appears to be limited to Leaf units that were manufactured at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee, plant between February 28 and March 12 of this year. Owners will be ask…

So I've got this guy I know from the TDI Club named Jess that came to our club dinner last night. Jess is into TDI's and Miatas, so we get along pretty well. What's impressive about Jess is his job-he collects eyes from human donors for transplant. Interesting full time job... And Jess's TDI Golf is a quick little car, but it's neither stock nor EPA legal. In fact, given the right conditions (AC, downshift, full throttle) it will create about as much soot as a good coal fired Chinese power plant. Anyhow...one day Jess is out and about in his TDI Golf going to put a set of eyes on ice. He's going about 70 passing a semi going 65 when a nearly new Camry rolls up on h…

What the hay!?! I could have sworning there use to be a section where people could ask general questions or make statements on GM a whole. Anyway do you believe GM's Dealerships harming sales buy focusing too much on their used car departments? I got to thinking about this months ago, and it popped into my mind again this morning when I turned on the TV. Every, few weeks or so the local Pontiac/GMC dealer buys a load of time on a local station to try to sell cars...but rarely do you ever see them trying to sell actual Pontiac's and/or GMC's. This morning in fact all I saw were Dodges, that included Magnums, Rams, Durangos, and Neons w/ less than 20k …

The first place I went to was Willey Ford-Lincoln-Mercury in Ames. Science has discovered the heaviest element yet known to man. The new element is Governmentium (Gv). It has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lefton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons or protons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction normally taking less than a second to take from four days to four years to complete. Gove…

Trivia number two...I am thinking about a race car driver... Race car driver was an SCCA member...and the first race they ran was in a Ford Pinto...which was promptly sunk into an on course lake during the drivers first ever race. Driver towed the P{into home and actually used the oven to dry out the windshield wiper motor and a bunch of other parts...and then drove it to work the Monday after it was totally submerged. This driver was most noted for racing Mustangs....but also ran at the Indy 500. Driver qualified well, and won an award...but never won the race. Driver set a track record at Talledega in a NASCAR prep Thunderbird that to this day the Monte Carlo has n…

That epiphany is this: Australia knows how to build a better American car than we do. These videos from Top Gear Australia only prove that point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eHZhsF8hwI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTjV3EeFrf8 I have to wonder, where are our bold, brazen Chevelles, Impalas, and Novas? Australia has the Commodore and Falcon that openly embrace the American muscle car values that we desired so long ago. Sure, we have the Commodore here as the G8 and it's a great car, but we don't deserve it. The average, stupid, fat, lazy American doesn't understand what a car of the Commodore/G8's magnitude represents. And that brings me to another point: since …

I know this is way off topic here, but I figured *some* car nuts should know how to build things out of wood. I went to Home Depot and bought 12 pieces of spruce, 8 feet long each. I'm going to build a shoe rack and a laundry hamper. I cut 5 boards in thirds, and cut a sixth in 10 9-inch sections. The thirds go side by side with a 9-inch section at each end to form shelves. So I've used 1/2 of the wood so far. I want to build the sides and back (if necessary) out of as little wood as possible, so that my hamper can be bigger. Will 5 shelves screwed in to the vertical sides have strength? Will this design want to lean one way or the other, wobbling? If I do need a ba…

There was a sort of wire from a pole, covered with this old metal (i think to protect people from decapitating themselves on the wire). So i try to grab it to avoid going down, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, i go down and sort of swing around it like a drunken cracked out stripper! HOW EMBARASSING! so, i've fractured my arm, can't get a cast since it's so swollen. I only wish…

Hell Week for the Car Haters. Detroit. If you're into the whole car "thing," as virtually all of the readers of this publication are - then the third week of August is akin to our High Holy Days. Auto enthusiasts across the country are focused on two huge events this week: the Pebble Beach Concours and the Monterey Historic races on the West Coast, and the Woodward Dream Cruise in the northern suburbs of Detroit. Though polar opposites in style and tone, nonetheless these two automotive events (and countless others of lesser stature) define the car culture for auto enthusiasts across the country today. The events on the Monterey Peninsula (which Robert Louis Stephen…

I'm looking for a few things for the Cavalier to correct some of my frustrations with the car... First of All I'm looking for a Delco Electronics AM/FM/CD Stereo w/Theftlock that would fit the 1995-1999 Cavalier to replace the current unit, a Cassette unit: What would be the best place to get one? Junkyard? Ebay? I know that if I watch my prices I could get one on Ebay for about 50-70$ USD (46-65$ CDN) I know the dealer would rape me on the price, but if I went to a junkyard with a screwdriver and found a Cavalier, Malibu, Lumina, Camaro, or Venture with one, what would would you say is a fair price for one? Also... I think I may get a new rear bumper cover fo…

So, with this past weekend being the true greatest spectacle in motorsports- the 24hrs of LeMans- I thought it could make for a good UDG thread. Rules- 1) Maximum of 5 cars. 2) Cars can be from any era/year. 3) Cars MUST be OVERALL winners to be eligible. 4) Your selection MUST also be the ACTUAL RACE WINNING CAR. Not a different car of the same make/mfr because you like that team/livery/etc better. In other words, down to the exact number and driver combo. * I will do a separate thread for non-race winning cars, so don't get hung up over that one.

"I WANT TASTE BUDS!" Okay, so who else out there finds this commercial hilarious? I can't be the only one. My 3 year old does a great impression of the robot too... but I think that's just him being a normal 3 year old anyway (if you have small children at home, you'll know what I mean by that).

I'm seriously considering a daily driver and one of the cars on my shortlist is the 2015 VW GTI, 4-door, with manual transmission and performance package. I'm yet to test drive it. What I like, on paper, is that the car is a perfect blend of utility (hatch), performance, fun-to-drive, fuel economy, and features. What I hesitate about is VW's reliability and dealer experience. Is this car now made in Mexico, unlike previous iterations that were made in Germany? What I dislike are the options packages. I do not have problems with with getting the S, but I hate the plaid seats. I dislike the panoramic sunroof for SE and Autobahn trims. Tell me more about it. Your thought…

Don't know where else in the forum to ask this...so... 1. How can GM run the p[lant that builds the sky-solstice profitably when they are only selling 1500 cars or so a month? Just curious. 2. Anybody know anything about the Baltimore plant? Have there been more than one plants in Baltimore? My 55 Chrolet 210 2 door was built in Baltimore and my 97 GMC Safari Van was built in Baltimore. Notieced that GM no longer has a plant there. Also, is this the same plant that built the 69 custom S pontiac that one of our forum members owns? 3. I owned for a very long time a 71 Chevelle that was built in Texas. When was this plant closed? 4. SSR production is stopped, r…

So You Wanna See Speed Channel's Top Gear Competitor? By black-knight (Self-Appointed Tries to be Somewhat Regular News Contributor) for Cheers and Gears.com 23rd December, 2010 No, obviously Tanner Foust isn't jumping ship from the History Channel to publish a book or go to another show and we have no earthly clue where the, uh, Billy Ray Cyrus impersonator pictured alongside Foust and Adam Carolla (who winds up fitting into this whole picture) has wound up at, but you do remember reading the news lately that Speed Channel is planning a show that will take the wind out of Top Gear America's sails, yeah? Well apparently the precursor, or pilot if you will, to th…

To make it simple, I got an iPod Touch for Christmas and I suppose I have to update my iTunes for it to properly work with my computer. And by updating, I guess that means I have to f@#king re-download iTunes for the second time. Now, I have dial-up and downloading a file that is 51.8MB is not something you want to attempt on such a connection. However, I had no choice, so I did, and I got everything half-way done when my connection took a huge $h! and f@#ked the whole download up. None of my progress had saved, so, yeah, I want to f@#king choke Steve Jobs right now and piss down his scrawny f@#king neck for not bundling the goddamned iPod with iTunes on …

Well, I didn't want to do this on 9/11 with it being such an important date and all, but seeing as in how it is September, I planned on doing a 911 thread. There may not be many replies on this one, but I know there's a few out there who have an appreciation for the brand. As for me, well, many of you probably know the 911 is my all-around favorite car model, so this one will be both fun an torturous. The rules- 1) Factory 911's from Porsche only, no RUF's, 9ff's, Singers, etc. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These obviously are not your only cars. 4) Maximum of 9 choices. Have fun.

Check em out http://www.mph-online.com/web/spyphotos/0023 I think it is a good blend of the popular Range Rover and the old Freelander front. This should be a big hit if it drives well. Even though the last one didn't sell, today is different with the X3 and others doing well

Yep...happened again...same car too. So we've had the Prizm back for about 2 weeks now, I've been meaning to post about it but haven't got any good pics to show yet so I haven't done so. Anyway, I was working yesterday, coming back from my first delivery, I pulled onto the street beside work and parked on the side. There was a red Silverado in front of me and some other car in front of him. I backed up a bit to give him some extra room to pull out, so he had 5 feet or so plus the space between him and the other car. I lock up and start to walk to the shop. I notice he backing up and for some reason I felt compelled to watch...only to find the f@#king retard backing into …

There's a photo of Rick Wagoner speaking, with some car images behind him. I can see the Malibu and a G6 convertible. But what is the larger car on the left? Here is a direct link. It almost looks like a Buick Park Avenue, but with changes. Thank you to whomever answers the question.

...to the "world car" trend in strategy the automakers are using is what it is doing to design. Those damned european pedestrian laws are giving new cars a big, bulbous, clown nose. I think it flat out destroys most designs. Discuss.

You've gotta love kids these days...So here I am sitting up in my room...my room faces the front of our house...my window is wide open and my lights are on... I here these footsteps coming up towards my house...I think nothing of it and I dont bother looking outside...next thing you know I hear this banging on my door and these kids laughing and running away... From how I remember it, you are usually supposed to ring the doorbell but whatever...I just love how they did it...I mean, my lights on and you can clearly see me up in my room. I know who they are, they live only a couple houses down, I can hear them out there right now, sounds like they are having a get tog…
