Read before clicking the link... I know it's a LONG read but well worth it Fisette had no idea whether he was buying King Tut’s tomb or Al Capone’s vault when he agreed to buy 21 trailers said to be full of Corvettes and Chevrolet muscle cars and parts. Luckily, all of the rumors he had heard whispered around his northeast Wisconsin home turned out to be more true than he ever dreamed. So far, Fisette, a De Pere, Wisconsin, restorer and automotive repair shop proprietor, has opened 17 of the 21 sealed trailers one-by-one and found a Yenko Camaro with 45,000 miles; a pair of low-mileage 1970 LS-6 Chevelles; a 1972 Camaro Z/28; two 1957 Corvettes, one a fuel-injected …

Yeah, 02.20.2006 looks sweet, but it isn't. First, I wake up after having a dream my mom was divorcing my dad.. for my boss. She tells me in the dream that, "Well, I don't know what to do. I'm 100% in love with one man and 400% in love with another. I'm 100% in love with you and 400% in love with Jeff [your boss]" Then I preceded to walk into work and tear up the entire backroom, leaving with two fists of blood. Analysis: Holy $h!. Terrible start to the day. So the day's started now. I go to work and end up arguing over the phone with my mom for over an hour because she's given me fifteen effing mixed signals over cell phones. I'm supposed to buy a new…

Boredom created this thread. The idea is to take one or more slogans from any company and make a sentence like: "Oh, What a Feeling as you are Moving Forward until your Camry throws a gear!" Make 'em as stupid as you can. Have fun until the post count of this thread reaches 18 and drops back to the last page.

There is a club holding an event at the St.Thomas racetrack for Cavaliers and GM compact cars. The article from CanadianDriver states that GM will show off vehicles there including the SATURN AURA. I think I know where I'm going on Saturday. it is not to far from St.Thomas, Ontario which is fairly close to Buffalo and even Michigan if you dont mind the drive. It is probably a 2 1/2 drive from Detroit. Read the article to see where it is and it gives a link to the track's website. This would be great even for a little C&G meet if people show up. Here is the link. Gm Compact Car Show Details

All right guys, help me out (if you would ever be so kind). Im trying to decide on a car for college (or type of car). i need something with good gas milage, in particular and something recent (nothing past the '01 mark if you dont mind, but if is, i'll consider it). I also dont need anything big; something nice and compact that wont take up a large amount of space. oh and make sure that it dont cost an arm and a leg to buy (god knows im not rich). If you have any recomendations/sugestions for such a picky post please reply. thank you, I appreciate it.

He started talking to me on MSN saying I need to get a reality check and take things seriously or I won't get my licence. I told him that I take things seriously and that he needed a reality check. He was the one doing 90 in a 60 on a windy road in a Golf and he was the one starting to swerve on purpose too scare his mom. We did another fall foliage drive today, out to Breckenridge going the back way and then over to Vail and then back to Denver with a side trip up to Berthoud Pass.. great weather and scenery, and saw some interesting cars along the way..it was a nice, relaxing 250 mile drive. In a fenced-in lot by a garage in Englewood, we saw a couple of sad '59 GMs--a pale green Pontiac wagon that had hit something hard on the left front, and a black flat-top Olds 4dr..both were rusty and looked like they had been there a long time.. At a gas station outside Conifer, saw a white '56 Packard 4dr. Saw a nice red '67 Camaro SS in Fairplay...saw a tired primered gray '67 Cougar in Emp…

I think I've run this one before, but we have quite a few new people.Birth order is interesting and actually regarded as being somewhat psychologically valid. That being said, where are you in the birth order, how many kids are there and what are the genders of those older and younger than you? Also, which ones do you get along and not get along with? My answer: I'm the youngest of 2 - same parents for both - oldest is a brother. Do not get along with him (have not spoken with him since 1995, or thereabouts).

They spend time on the motorcycles, but some of the old cars are freakin amazing especially the 1949 Veritas by a group of engineers that went to work for BMW.

After watching that Drug Addled Amy Winehouse edge out Taylor Swift for best new Artist, which is, I believe, setting a bad example... I saw that Alan Jackson's smooth-flowing song, "A Woman's Love", got edged out by Keith Urban's "Stupid Boy" for best Male Country Performance- Anyone who's heard both songs would surely agree that Alan was robbed.... Did anyone else watch this year or happen to want to weigh in as well?

I’ve been busy, and it’s a few days late, but here is what will probably be the penultimate edition of “Cheers and Jeers.” Next year will be the 25th edition, and that seems to be the right time to put this to rest or for someone else to carry on with it. Cheers! For the first time in the history of the United States, a convicted felon was sworn into office as President, and he wasted no time on his priorities of revenge, retribution, illegal immigration, dirty energy, and gutting DEI policies and subsidized healthcare, and generally making people sicker. With tariffs used to punish perceived enemies and the longest federal government shutdown in history, chaos an…

I went with mom tonight to drop off her 2005 Cobalt with 20,500 miles, sign papers, and pick up her new leftover 2009 Nissan Cube 1.8 SL, Moss Green with black interior. She leased it for 39 months at $115/month, a heck of a deal. She's been wanting one since they came out, and she was able to get it. It rides pretty nice, quiet, with a lot of features and nice, wide, flat seats. CVT is warranteed for 10 years/120k miles on Nissans, I didn't know dat.

Hello and welcome back to In Retrospect. After a breif hiatus, IR is back and will be brought to you monthly in The Lounge. Future issues will/may hold more content. This month we ask one question: Why didn't they build that? *** The car that should have been built was a concept by GM -- Nineteen-Ninety-Five's Buick XP2000. These images taken by avant1963: Why didn't GM build it? The platform would've made a great replacement for both the W-Body and B-Body cars; the styling was near timeless and well-done; the packaging was a flawless idea. (They can keep the Automated Highway Sytem, though.) Why didn't they built it? Guess you can chalk it up to the bea…

I just joined a gym, literally 5 minutes ago, online. It's only like 3 miles from my house. I stopped by there this morning and took a tour, led by a perky young lady. The place seems very low key, and I'm hoping it will help me keep fit over the winter. My biggest fear is looking like a complete doofus. Will the treadmill throw me off the back? Will I strangle myself when I drop the 25 pound barbell on my neck? I've never done anything like this before. I'm hoping it will be a good move. Does anyone else here belong to a gym? Do you have any funny or odd experiences you can share?

Since Camino LS6's thread referred to new cars and some of us have been mentioning used car preferences in that thread I thought this would be a fun thread for the used car shopper in us all. For me: Exterior must be in good shape. I little rust maybe and/or th expected imperfections are fine but the paint must overall be in good shape and still shine. It also can't have any large amounts of body damage bigger than a ding. Engine must be clean. No oil or dirt on the engine. Not only is it a sign of engien problems but also of poor maintenance. The interior must be in good shape, nothing broken and everything must work. It also must attractively designed. Materials are …

Yeah.... This week totally blows, partly because last week we had two snow days that messed up the scheduling somewhat. Last Thursday I had a Calc 2 exam (average was 45; I thought I did good when I left and I end up with a 48?!?), then my crazy ass professor gives us a quiz today, and homework due Thursday that I've been working on for 2 hours and still am not done (and that we didn't learn until yesterday). Oh, and that's just Calc. Physics? Well, since we missed a lecture due to the snow day, we didn't learn any of the stuff for this homework (which is due tonight) until yesterday so I'm stuck doing it tonight, and oh, I have a Physics exam on Thursday. I met up with my old friend Dustin in Ocean City this weekend. When I left Maryland in 2003, he was working at the dealership there as sort of a gopher. Now, he has his own bodyshop with 3 fulltime employees, and he is specializing in restoration work, hot rods and muscle cars. He and his crew did the paint and bodywork on this flawless Nova, which has been appraised at $300k. Every body seam has been smoothed, the firewall and dash cut out and custom-fabricated, the drip rails have been molded in. Only the best of everything went into this Nova, which was completed 2 years ago. The owner is selling it, and he had nothing but praise for Dustin. I am proud of this k…

Yeah, we know there is a certain crowd (trailer trash, ghetto folks, poor people, hillbillies) that drives these cars into the ground....or bought them that way. But does that mean said cars are not worth the trouble to do a little something with? Not worth saving? Maybe building for a little SCCA track action, engine swapping, a clean cruiser, or even a kit car or electric/biodiesel conversion? Even if they aren't a loser's car, maybe it's simply something you often see parked with "For Sale $1000" written on the window in white shoe polish. Rules: No, you can't name off muscle cars, pony cars, or anything from 1969 or older. No Z's, RX-7s, Supras and such eithe…

Shirtless Biden Washes Trans Am In White House Driveway WASHINGTON—Taking advantage of the warm spring weather Monday, Vice President Joe Biden parked his 1981 Trans Am in the White House driveway, removed his undershirt, and spent a leisurely afternoon washing the muscle car and drinking beer. "This baby just needs a little scrub down," said Biden, addressing a tour group as he tucked the sweat-covered top into the belt loop of his cutoff jean shorts. "Gotta get her looking good so I can impress the chicks when I'm cruising down Pennsylvania [Avenue]." White House aides said that Biden pulled into the driveway shortly before noon, the chorus of Night Ranger's "y…

A year ago today I was in Missouri and Kansas at the beginning of my western road trip; 2 months ago, I was in Pennsylvania in the middle of my eastern road trip. Both trips seem like they happened just yesterday ... and a lifetime ago. I learned quite a bit in those trips ... enjoying the company of new and old friends along the way. A "snapshot" of some of the things that I discovered during those trips.... Missouri & Kansas are not _that_ boring to drive through.... Colorado is absolutely gorgeous. LONDON — An entrepreneur in Surrey, England, boasts a nine-month waiting list for what he says is "the best car wash in the world." It ought to be; he charges $11,500 per car for the 61-step wash treatment. Paul Dalton, interviewed by the U.K.'s Daily Record newspaper, says he spends 64 hours on each car for the high-priced Pinnacle Wash treatment. Among his secret weapons is a special Brazilian wax called Zymol Royale that he keeps locked up because of its scarcity. Dalton claims his wax finishes last a year. Celebrities including soccer players and aging rocker Rod Stewart are among Dalton's clients; Stewart reportedly splurges on the Pinnacle Wash for his Ferrari Enz…

Happy birthday, guys!!!! Mustang - must be nice to celebrate your birthday AFTER the semester is over. Hope life is treating you right as you summer in DSM. (With a mid Dec. b-day, I typically sat in a final on my birthday so I made it a point to get an A since it ruined my special day) Cremazie - spring weather in Canada? (AB or SK, don't remember). Enjoy! Chevnov99 and Cutlassdude 96 - have a good one!

At this speed I don't really mind it that much. This is the average at 80mph for 120 miles. What do most 4 bangers get at 80 mph?? $3.19/gal is still crap though.. >

I've been a member of Planet Fitness since 2006. It's OK I guess. I mean, for $15/month, what do you want? A while back I was robbed there when a miscreant broke my puny lock and stole all the cash out of my wallet. Kinda put a chill on things. And before that I was growing ever more meh about the joint. So I stopped in to LA Fitness today and took the tour. Kid took me around and through the whole place. They have a pool (good exercise kickin' water around), a steam room (my sinuses are ruined, a sauna should help that), free classes, a free personal training session, and whatnot. But kid giving tour lost points when the first thing he said when I tole him I am …

If you happen to be visiting Saudi Arabia, don't drift your rental car, you could lose your head. A popular amateur sport in the kingdom, drivers push their cars into skids at high speeds through traffic while spectators gather on the side of the road to watch and cheer, sometimes with disastrous results. Scores and scores of videos of the practice, called “Hadwalah”, are available on Youtube. In the video below, a Honda Accord is seen speeding down a highway with guns blazing out of the windows. The driver later turns around and drifts next to a school bus full of children. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGt0RnZcO88 Saudi police have been cracking down on the practi…

Having an issue with GM right now... My Cruze engine light went on while I was on my way from my home in Toronto to Algonquin Park a camping trip for the Labour Day weekend (Friday evening). Pulled over and checked the coolant and realized it was quite low. Turned around and drove to a Canadian Tire in Huntsville, and picked up some coolant before they closed. Put the coolant in, but the idle was lumpy so I decided not to drive it. Got a friend to pick me up and drive me into the park (Huntsville is part way there). Went back to Huntsville the next day to get the car taken into the Huntsville GM dealer that was supposed to have Saturday hours. Was rather disappointed wh…

I recently joined the Society of Automotive Engineers so I am able to attend a few seminars this year at the 2007 World Conference in April at Cobo Hall. They have some interesting presentations like Diesel Emissions and Aftertreatment Devices: Design and Durability, Catalytic Converters: Design and Durability, Fundamentals of All-Wheel Drive Systems, and the AVL Technology Theater. http://www.sae.org/congress/ So I was just wondering if anyone else was a member, or planning on attending any of the upcoming SAE events?

OUTSOURCING ANNOUNCEMENT Washington D.C. - Congress today announced that the Office of President of the United States will be outsourced overseas as of August 31. The move is being made to save $400K a year in salary, a record $521 Billion in deficit expenditures and related overhead. "The cost savings will be quite significant" says Congressman Adam Smith (R-Wash) who, with the aid of Congress research arm, the General Accounting Office has studied outsourcing of American jobs extensively. "We simply can no longer afford this level of outlay and remain competitive on the world stage," Congressman Smith said. Exporting American jobs has been a popular trend lately,…

So my wife got her new subscription to Conde Nast Traveler. There in the first few pages of the magazine is the Cadillac ad some of you have talked about but I have till today not seen. Dare to be Different! Anyone else seen these ads or where Cadillac has been advertising as this is the first in a long time. I see nothing on TV, nothing in newspapers and this is a first for magazines.

A few months ago, I was browing the IL Secretary of State website and discovered that IL has a specialty license plate that features/celebrates Route 66. Since then, I've been considering switching to these plates on all 5 of my Monte Carlos. But, I haven't yet switched because of the increase cost of the plates [though, on the plus side of that, a portion of the fee supports the Illinois Route 66 Heritage Project]. I'm also not happy that the letter/number combinations are limited (i.e. 2 letters, 2 numbers ... or ... 3 letters, 1 number), and I haven't been able to come up with some good combinations.... However, thus far, I've only seen a handful (if that) of cars …

In the last month I have seen two '07 Aveo sedans on the side of a highway with smoke billowing out from under the hood. The first was here around Springgyfield, it was on the side of the road yet traffic was still backed up, and you could see flames poking out. The second was yesterday up near Jefferson City, where people apparently know how to drive, since it was on the shoulder and traffic was moving over, but not slowing to a creep. No flames, just thick smoke. It seems the new Aveo is indeed red hot.

If we assume that I don't get to have my G8 ST after all of the dust settles, and the automotive world fills with transportation appliances, what should be the last hurrah? I mean should I buy a top dawg Camaro in some loud color and stripes? Or flip GM the bird and get a Challenger? Other ideas? The object here is something nasty, anti-social, fast, and in your face. Something that says to the appliance-driving world "bite me". If things go really badly, this will be my final new car purchase, so it needs to be something that will wade through the Toyotas and re-badged Opels like Katrina through New Orleans. Something that says "FU" loud and clear. Get creativ…
