I just spent a week behind the wheel of the R350. It wasn't as much as I thought it would be...it cost more than I thought it would...it drank gas a bit more than I expected...and I still kinda liked it. Check out my review and let me know what you think... http://automotivetraveler.com/jump/2781

I am taking a much needed break away from my family and friends here. It's been constant cooking, cleaning, and logistical problem solving. Tis the season. I just wanted to take a minute to wish everyone here at C&G a Merry Christmas. I hope the holiday is filled with whatever you so desire. Sincerely, K.C. and "the family"

Hey, Merry Christmas, men and women of C&G. I may go to Midnight Mass, I may go in the morning, and I have no plans because it's not a 4-day weekend for us. So I may just snooze. Any plans? Happy holidays!

Wow, Christmas is about a day away. Getting ready to go home from work in about 1 hour. Tomorrow will be a casual dress day and I'm sure very little will be accomplished. I'm going to a concert at my friend's church in the evening and then to Midnight Mass since it will only be a few hours after that. Except for being invited to Christmas dinner, I have no travel plans. I'm not able to go up north since I didn't buy air tickets far enough in advance. Regardless, all is well. What are people doing over the holidays? Happy holidays!

As most of ya'll know, I've been back from my weekend mini road trip to IN-OH-PA-MI last weekend, Aug 11-14, around my family reunion in Holsopple PA on Saturday, Aug 12. I had a great time (despite Dad's health issues that developed Sunday afternoon while I was en route to Toledo OH). I'm already looking forward to my October road trip out west through AR-TX-OK-KS-MO-IA-WI ... and even my trip east in 2007 (around the MC Nationals and Monte MadneSS, if both are indeed scheduled for back-to-back weekends).... But, for this trip, as usual, I met a few people along the way and learned a thing or two . Indiana (Friday morning) ...Tammy (college friend; Warsaw, about 9:1…

Well I know theres not to many metal heads here but I wanted to tell everyone I went to see Queensryche Operation Mindcrime in its new entirity Thursday night, at Albanys old Palace Theater. Not the best place acoustically for heavy music. I saw Rush and Blue Oyster Cult there twice 30 years ago and the place just boomed, resonating on a certain bass frequency in the Balcony, but they were very loud concerts. People like Santana, Robert Cray, Jean Luc Ponty, Jeff Beck/Jan Hammer and even Uriah Heep did much better acoustically. Anyhow the Queensryche soundman did an excellent job considering and it was not stageringly loud. We abaondoned the balcony and went downstairs w…

I've always wanted to check this guys book out ("Metallica and Philosophy: A Crash Course In Brain Surgery") I think this article (pertaining to the release of Death Magnetic) is a very cool read! I often get MANY responses when I tell people how adamant I am about metal, particularly thrash, death and black metal. I get everything from "Don't kill yourself, it'll be okay" to sneers of disgust and comments like "Unlike you, I don't worship satan." to people even calling me ignorant. Well, this article is one of the best things I've found that explains HOW I view metal and WHY I'm such a big fan. When your life is a daily struggle to survive (Like mine was at one po…

Very positive! Kerrang <--- A break down of differing elements in the music. Metal Hammer <--- Has the new MissionMetallicA clips as well as a great description of the songs they heard. LOL, James is rockin' the 'goatfield' about the same length as mine now in the clips. The Quietus <--- Says a lot of truths about the band but isn't fair about the Load era (I loved the Loads and even St. Anger when taken into context) and BTW, I don't think the Red Hot Chili Peppers (as horrible as they are) ever really needed any help. On second thought, this review is pretty much pure $h!, claiming that "Load" almost finished MetallicA in 1996. Whatever…

I thought as a point of interest I would post something about the impending subway series in NY. I was born just a bit outside of Queens and have been, for my entire life, a huge Mets fan. Such a huge Mets fan that at the age of 20 I have became a season ticket holder at the begging of this season (with much hard earned cash bartending as my second job.) Even though I've probably been to about 60 Mets games prior to this year I have never been able to get my hands on subway series tickets at a resonable price, or at least not at a price I could afford to pay because I would likely have payed an unresonable price just to go. So as long as it doesn't get rained out…

It's long been touted that virtual violence can easily replace actual violence. Apparently, the mayor of Mexico City wants to see if that'll hold up. --- Mexico City (Mexico) The new mayor of Mexico City is offering criminals a free Xbox 360 for every handgun, and a free PC for higher caliber firearms such as assault rifles, that are handed into police in an amnesty, according to Reuters. The move is being trialled in one of the more dangerous neighborhoods in the city and will be extended elsewhere if it proves a success. Already 17 handguns have been handed in, with the ex-criminals walking away with an Xbox 360 with which to conduct crime and mayhem in a less des…

Stephen Downer Automotive News September 14, 2007 - 3:01 pm EST MEXICO CITY — It may take until Tuesday, Sept. 18, for six auto assembly plants in Mexico to resume production. The plants suspended operations as a result of bomb attacks Monday, Sept. 10, on energy pipelines in southern Mexico. Natural gas supplies should resume gradually between Sunday night, Sept. 16, and early Monday. Martha Avelar, a spokeswoman for Mexican energy monopoly Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex, told Automotive News today. Normal supplies probably will be restored by midday or late afternoon Tuesday, she added. If service is restored Monday, it would likely take until Tuesday’s fir…

MEXICO CITY – A new swine flu strain that has killed as many as 68 people and sickened more than 1,000 across Mexico has "pandemic potential," the World Health Organization chief said Saturday, and it may be too late to contain the sudden outbreak. The disease has already reached Texas and California, and with 24 new suspected cases reported Saturday in Mexico City alone, schools were closed and all public events suspended in the capital until further notice — including more than 500 concerts and other gatherings in the metropolis of 20 million. A hot line fielded 2,366 calls in its first hours from frightened city residents who suspected they might have the disease. …

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico - Mexico said Tuesday that it would file lawsuits in U.S. courts if National Guard troops on the border become directly involved in detaining migrants. Mexican border officials also said they worried that sending troops to heavily trafficked regions would push illegal migrants into more perilous areas of the U.S.-Mexican border to avoid detection. Can you tell me how just how you can sue over that?

(I'm bored) What type of computer mouse do you currently use and do you want to upgrade it...if so to what? I currently have a Logitech Cordless Click! Plus mouse. It's a pretty nice mouse but I've noticed lately that it has to be closer to the wireless receiver in order to work well...probably age. I'm dying to get an MX Revolution though, it's a sexy mouse with awesome feel and precision...plus it'll match the rest of my Desktop...black and silver :3 On a side note, I dislike all of Microsuck's mice products...they feel cheaper than Logitech, both in terms of materials and most noticeably the wheel. I figured there are enough of you on here that reside in Michigan that perhaps you could suggest some nice places to stay for a week in Dec. I live in Chicago and my wife and family travel to Elk Rapids(just north of Traverse City) each summer. We've never been there in the winter and plan to go this year. However not knowing what the weather will bring, that is a far drive for us and our 1 yr old. Is there another town along Lake Michigan that is good for a week's stay? Looking to do the typical shopping, dining, site-seeing touristy (sp?) type stuff. We don't own snowmobiles or plan on doing too much recreational activities. I'm into Lighthouses, so depending on …

Has anybody ever played this game before? My dad's always been interested in aviation and first bought Flight Sim 4 when I was a kid, back when it was in 16 colors and only four buildings were shown for the Chicago skyline. It had an add-on program where you could build your own airports and landscapes, so I built my hometown and most of Western Iowa. Then we upgraded to Flight Sim 5 around '95, and this was huge because it now had 256 colors, texture map scenery, and thousands of airports around the US. New York and Chicago had 3D buildings, but I think that was it. Then we bought Flight Sim 95 (for Windows 95), which was another big leap because it now had 3D terra…

In around 1993 or 1994, Chevrolet had a Monte Carlo concept car. It was rounded looking, and foretold the styling of the Gen 2 Lumina/Monte. I have searched all over the net, and can't find a shred of info. Its driving me nuts. The last time I saw it was 10 years ago. Can anyone shed some light on this matter? PS As a bonus, there was a Lumina based El Camino concept around the same time. Anyone know anything?

What happened to America's Middle Market Brands? With the demise of Mercury Ford Motor Company no longer has a mid-market brand. They are not unique in this marketing strategy nor are they alone in cutting brands over the last few years. Perhaps the most interesting point is all Automakers are moving away from mid-market brands. We saw this in 2000 when General Motors announced they would phase out the Oldsmobile division. GM cited slow sales and poor returns on investments made into Oldsmobile as the key reasons why the brand went under. Rick Wagoner told Sam Donaldson of ABC in an interview: "If everyone who is now telling me what a terrible thing I've done had …

My new apartment faces the Cedar River and every day I have been watching the flooding going on around here. The road I take to work will be flooded over sometime Monday and apparently levels may reach those of the Flood of '93. Parts of downtown Des Moines are flooded and Iowa City is starting to sandbag. There are stretches of fields along rivers that have become huge lakes in Eastern Iowa. The good news is that after the Flood of '93, a lot of cities built earth berms along their rivers so hopefully if we have another 500 year flood it won't be so devastating.

I haven't seen it yet and I don't even know the miles so I don't have my hopes up for actually trading, but it does interest me. Like I said I love the STS... what problems are common in them? Where should I look to see if the guy actually took care of it or not?

I bought something. Can't really explain why and not sure what the heck I'll do with it or how long it will be around. Busy day. Cash. Thought I'd try that for once, and old. But shockingly well cared for. To the extent the lady I bought it from typed and printed out an emotional "car history" story about it, in addition to the stacks of service bills. She was interesting. 199,575 miles as of today, parked outside under a tree until I get in trouble for having 2 cars in my development. Vroom. Now, what the heck am I going to do with this thing. Aye.

Since the major SNAFU this past Sept. we have been doing better than ever & today we're going to celebrate all the wonderful products of our relationship. Sofia being the greatest natrually. Our empathy towards eachother & the communication have improved imenselly and I have to say that I was wrong about couple's counceling, it can do a world of good in some cases. I have been very happy with the direction of my life as of late which is a pleasant change since the depresion and apathy I was feeling a few months ago.

From the L.A. Times: A driver lost control of a Ferrari sports car traveling 120 mph along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu this morning, slamming into a power pole that cut the car — which sells for up to $1 million — in half, according to authorities. One man suffered minor injuries. He was identified as Stefan Erikssen, of Bel-Air, said Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The sports car went airborne and struck a power pole 5 to 10 feet off the ground, Brooks said. The car was demolished, but two air bags deployed. "You pay a million bucks for a car, you expect safety," Brooks said. Investigators said they believe the driver was alon…

'A decade ago, these patients would have died from head trauma or other upper body injuries. Now, thanks to seat belts and air bags, they survive.'" Such a dramatic headline just so foot and ankle surgeons can put a spotlight on the great work they do and justify a big increase in both …

This morning, as I was walking back to the office after taking two totaled cars across the street to our holding yard, I noticed a sweet little car pull up in front of the showroom. A little old man and lady got out and headed for the front door. The car? A 1978 Malibu Classic coupe, gray and silver two tone. I was amazed, but kept on walking. It just didn't register with me that this car was about to be traded in, I mean, who would bother? I admired it from afar and continued with my day. Then, late this afternoon, I happened to be on the other side of our building from where our office is, and there sits the car, no license plate. I am immediately excited and st…

do you ever get where you can't stop missing someone you know / knew.....miss them greatly....but they are not the one who you are with, or not the one you are supposed to be with? sometimes you just can't shake someone. even if you already have it good / better / the best. anyone else got one of those? can't exorcise them from your mind / gut no matter how hard you try?

TACOMA, Wash. - A Thai immigrant convicted of incest led investigators to the body of a 12-year-old girl who had been missing since the Fourth of July, and is expected to be charged in her death, authorities said Friday. Police are also trying to determine whether Terapon Adhahn, 42, is connected to other missing child cases that date back to 1986. Zina Linnik, abducted during a neighborhood fireworks display, died from "homicidal violence," said Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum and the Pierce County medical examiner's office. Her body was found in a rural wooded area after information from Adhahn's lawyer led police and FBI agents there, authorities said. Adh…

Rolling down the freeway this morning, right around sunrise, I see a white Impala 6-8 car lengths ahead of me, in my lane. As I get closer, I notice it seems oddly narrow. Then I get closer, and notice it's missing the gold bowtie, but has a blue emblem instead. A blue oval. D'oh. Turns out to be a current gen Focus sedan. Anyone else have a moment like this, confuse two different, unrelated models that up close really seem to be nothing alike, but from a distance.... similar taillights, decklid, fascia..

Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) will push the limits again with the world reveals of two more vehicles that thrill – the 2007 Eclipse Spyder and the Concept-CT MIEV – at the upcoming 2006 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January. The company is building its strongest product portfolio in history, launching six new vehicles in less than three years, including the all-new 2006 Eclipse, Raider mid-size pickup truck, and now the ’07 Eclipse Spyder. “The Eclipse Spyder and the breakthrough Concept-CT continue the excitement of the brand and demonstrate new design directions and potential future technologies,” said MMNA President and CEO Rich Gillig…

Okay, so I saw a Mitsubishi Sigma today. Can someone enlighten me a bit more about this car? Again, obviously an 80s product with Sigma badging, looking very much like so... I'm picking up a bunch of names like Sigma, Eterna, and Diamante in searching for this car. I would've snapped a picture but for my girlfriend is borrowing my digi. Hopefully, I'll get one tomorrow.

I don't know about you guys, but if I go to a restaurant that has a self-serve soda fountain, I always like to mix a couple of different flavors... for something "different". Right now I really like Diet Coke mixed with orange drink. Does anyone else like to experiment with soda flavors? :)

In the AL we've got: Tampa Bay Rays (97-65) vs. Chicago White Sox (89-74) and Los Angles Angels of Anaheim (100-61) vs. Boston Red Sox (95-67) In the NL: Chicago Cubs (97-64) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (84-78) and Philadelphia Phillies (92-70) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (90-72) My picks (because I've been so good at this  ) are Rays over Sox, Angels over Sox, Cubs over Dodgers, Phillies over Brewers. Then the Rays over the Angels, Cubs over Phillies, then Cubs over Rays. What can I say, I'm a homer. Also, I'm thrilled beyond belief to see no New York teams in the playoffs, if only the Bo Sox has slipped out of the picture, that would have been perfe…

Since I can't seem to sell the damn thing, I've started riding it the past few days since the weather's been... well... not great, but not cold with temps around 60. It was a relieving experience since life has sucked for the past two months. I had fun. It was extremely muddy, though... the dirt roads were the muddiest I have ever seen them. The one was an absolute mud pit, but they were all mud pits. With practically bald tires, I slid all over the place, but it kept the amount of mud flinging down. So, I was surprised at all the muddier I got. Hmm... muddiest, muddier... are those even words? Anyways, I'll be getting it even more muddy today. Muahahaha...

Ahh- the smell of model cement !! I spent some time as a kid building plastic models- if any of us hasn't, I'd be surprised. I built maybe 15. When I moved out, my mom tossed 'em all off my 3-tier shelf- I wasn't really upset I suppose. I do have a half dozen of the boxes, as they were usually packed with odds-n-ends; them, I still have. I don't think we've done a thread on this, so perhaps some pics of some favorites would be interesting. Some of mine I built (via Google): The Tom Daniels stuff was fantastic. Others were mostly classics- '30s-40s stuff, nothing from the '50s/60s. Anyone else?

-- This thread will not tolerate flaming of any kind, it is intended to be a "civilized argument" encouraging critical thinking that lends itself to further evolving and refining our world. It focuses mainly on American Culture (the fastest growing culture in history) however foreign cultural views are more than welcome, as everything lends insight. To kick it off... Modern American Culture has evolved so rapidly that America is losing its cohesiveness, and is slowly destroying the traditional place of the family. What is your opinion on this relatively new trend (post WW2)? Is this good or bad? what are its consequences? what does it provide to our soc…

Ah yes, winter. Time for comfort food. My grandmother used to make this simple, hearty dish to warm us up after being out in the cold: 40 ounce can butter beans/dried limas, rinsed 1 pound tube mild sausage, formed into bitesize patties 1 medium onion, chopped 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 cup ketchup preheat oven to 400 place sausage bites into skillet with enough water to cover completely, cover pan and bring to boil add onion to pan, cook sausage and onion until water evaporates and sausage starts to brown drain fat and place sausage and onion in baking dish with rinsed beans, add ketchup and brown sugar and mix all ingredients together bake at 400 for about 30 min…

Hey guys, I just got informed that my parents are car shopping. I guess I should inform you of my parent's vehicle buying habits, the first car I remember them having is a 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon, they bought it brand new and drove it until April of 1997 when they bought their 1997 Buick Century, they kept it till June 2005 when mom got the itch for a truck. So they traded in the Buick and bought a 2005 S-10 crew cab ZR-5. Well its 2008 and dad is wider than he used to be, and mom's knee can't really take climbing in and out of the truck like she used to, so they're hunting for something new. Right now they have their sights set on a Buick LaCrosse, it…
