I dunno if anyone watches Ulitmate Fighter, but the winner won a freakin 2005 Scion. hahaha dang. Get your face bashed in for a college car. dang that hurts. Also, if anyone was watching Barrett Jackon auctions today...did you catch the Paul McCartney car? It sold for over $100 grand and it was the only one made. (Cadillac CTS) they made it just for him (no animal products) never driven, and every penny went to charity for Adopt A Minefield. The sun visor was signed by him and Jay Leno. Just thought it was pretty sweet. Too many damn corvettes though.

Hard day for me, today and yesterday. We laid my grandmother to rest this morning. I so treasure her spirit, her humor and her Old World work ethic, which I inherited and thank her for. Born in Jersey City NJ to recently-immigrated parents, she worked long days in the Black Dirt Region of Orange County NY as a young woman, out in the onion & celery fields, with my father by her side as a young child. Later, she was a long-time factory production worker for Avon. After retiring, she and my grandfather drove down to Florida every winter, fishing and meeting up with friends & relatives. She cooked & canned, she crafted, she golfed, she elevated cleaning to an Oly…

As a few people on this site can attest, I love car shows. But how many times can you look at Corvettes or Mustangs and not be bored? This past year, a new car show was launched and it was stunning! Please check out some of my pictures from the show and let me know what you think. Perhaps you can make plans on attending this year's event. http://automotivetraveler.com/jump/3722

Has everyone seen the little 20-inch tall, 10 pound Nepalese teenager that's gunning for the world's record for Shortest Boy? He's a funny little tyke, mugging for the camera in the video clips that are on the net. He's going all out to win the title. I think he should win... why? He's got a lot going for him. He'd make a great spy. He'd make a great porn star. He'd make a great karate instructor. He makes me feel tall. Anyway, let's wish him the best for a good life.

Before the marriage: He: Yes. At last. It was so hard to wait. She: Do you want me to leave? He: NO! Don't even think about it. She: Do you love me? He: Of course! She: Have you ever cheated on me? He: NO! Why you even asking? She: Will you kiss me? He: Yes! She: Will you hit me? He: No way! I'm not that type of person! She: Can I trust you? Now for "after the marriage" you can read it from bottom to the top !!!!

I just ordered Sirius today. I was asking for satellite radio it for Christmas but Circuit City has a sale on a certain receiver ($100 off) and Sirius is giving another $50 off so that means a $150 receiver is free. I'm not going to hardwire it to my car because I don't feel like dealing with the problems of doing it myself or paying to have it done professionally, plus I'm asking for the home kit for Christmas now. I'll just do it through FM transmission. I chose Sirius over XM mainly because of the deal on the receiver but I've signed up for free trials for both (on their websites) and Sirius has played a lot more music I like. So…

I was walking along sidewalk enjoying the sunny, warm day when I glanced over at this new Jeep Commander sitting in the disabled spot of the parking lot of a retail store. The store was for the handicapped to outfit their vehicles for their special needs. Suddenly the vehicle started and shot forward about 8 ft like a bullet...jumped over a curb and stopped against a sign. The elderly couple looking like they were 80 years old camly backed up and drove away. Now if they had been facing the store window and a pedestrian had been there, someone would have been hurt or killed. Now, it begs the question, should the elderly and disabled be tested to a higher standard than …

Missy Elliot insists ... her brand new Lamborghini is being held captive by an Illinois car dealership -- after she paid handsomely for the luxury vehicle -- and now, she's suing to get her ride. The rapper filed the lawsuit in Florida against Fox Valley Motor Cars, claiming she entered into an agreement with the dealership last year to buy a 2012 Matte White Lambo Aventador (below, in orange) for $376,000. According to the lawsuit, Missy -- repped by Singh, Singh & Trauben -- agreed to make a down payment that included $30,000 in cash AND her 2005 Bentley (valued at $85,000). In return, Missy claims the dealership agreed to ship her the Lambo by mid 2012 ... but ne…

Words simply don't explain what I saw today: A women beating her kid so hard that the little boy sounded like he was being killed. This little guy was around around the age of mine. The little guy was being a bit of a brat, but nothing uncommon for the age. Then the woman just snapped, and went to town smacking the little guy. And she didn't stop. To hear a child screaming in that is.....so horrible. Being a "newer" dad-that hits home. My co worker and I looked on in horror. I headed over to stop it, but a customer got to her first. I just had my first ortho consultation. I decided that, with the flex spending plan at work, I would pop for braces this year. My uppers are right on. My lowers are crowded. I got this consult because only some dentists can do the Invisalign. He said it would take 12 months + up to 2 or 3 more months. The cost is $ 5600 for conventional ones (which he recommends for me) and $ 6300 for the Invisalign which will take 18 months. YIKES. I definitely need the remaining 2 consults. Two girls who work in my office went to the same, but different, ortho for quite a bit less money. Any of you gotten braces PAST your teenage years? Costly? Was it painful?…

"No, no," David Evans remembers saying. "We didn't know. And here I am: I come home and I'm burying him." At first, I thought "no" because....didn't they just move into new editorial offices in Ann Arbor? Then I read that one of the reasons Csaba Csere (who I've always liked) left C&D at the end of last year was because he didn't like the direction the magazine was taking....and admist rumors that they were leaving Michigan to move to CA to combine many operations with R&T (which would make some economic sense considering they are both owned by the same publisher..…

Who here has a Car Domain page? The other night, I realized I signed up 2 years ago and then completely forgot about it. I guess I planned on making one for my Grand Am. No use for that now. Last night and today, I've been working on one for my Millenia. It's still not completed, but it's good enough for now. Clicky

Do any of you look forward to CES this next month? I always look at the mobile audio stuff, mainly headunits, pioneer. the TV stuff will prolly be good I am excited about AMD releasing the Phenom II and the AM3 platform. there are reports/data that shows the 920's hitting just under 4Ghz OC'd on air on the 790GX chipped mobo's. the 940's are BE running at 3ghz stock, the 920's are supposedly 2.8ghz stock. i don't expect to see any SED tv's this year, but might be surprised...? you looking forward to anything?

Any tips to ease it out? It gets pretty bad for me. The thing is, that's the only sickness I really get. I've been on a boat in a storm and I didn't get sick. when I get on an airplane, and when they bring the food, I throw right up, instantly. Very short trips like non-intercontinental is fine for me, just long international trips. But now I'm worried because I'm leaving for Hong Kong in August...

The 'OTY' thread got me to thinking about this. In terms of credibility, lack of bias, testing procedures, judging criteria, etc, etc, who do you feel is the best automotive review source out there? A big name like MT or C&D? Something more specialized like Top Gear or EVO? Something smaller like Autoblog, TTAC, Everyday Driver? And what is your reasoning behind your choice? Keep in mind I am limiting this to testers/reviewers, not sources for reliability, quality, etc.

I got a chance to check out the Buick today with my own eyes (previous days have been to cloudy and wet), and the frame is definitely bent. Anyone know the cost to make it straight? Just surface repairs are going to be $1500 to $1800. The repair shop is 100% sure there are issues underneath. **Hubcaps not on car, as these are winter tires**

1,000TH POST!!! Never thought I'd reach this point. So, here's to 1,000 posts of pure crap, pure insight, inverse opinions, failed attempts at scarcasm, sucessful attempts at scarcasm, failed attempts to poke fun at other members and sucessful ones to boot. Here's to posts about music, cars, and bashing Buickman. And I couldn't have done it without you all. (And Charger4U's Word Association threads. )

I had to go renew mu license today, so I get there and the chick tells me to stand in front of the blue thing then like 4 seconds later tells me to go sit down, it'll be ready in a few minutes. She never gave me a warning that she was taking the pic, I look like a complete douchebag in it because I was just kinda spacing out waiting for her to ask me if I was ready. Worst part is that its not up for renewal again until 2012, so I'm going to have to "lose" it sometime in the next couple of years to get another one. Also part of my License bureau trip was legalizing the Fusion. Turns out I never paid my 2005 personal property tax (ono the Saturn, this year I pay on the…

Boy. it has been a rough weekend... I'm sure you might remember my little "hero" thing I did earlier this year, in which I hurt my bad back..... Well, after buming into something, and then lifting my little guy early saturday, I hurt my back again... I really sucks when you can't lift your own child. I was in so much pain, and even Heavy duty pain killers (begin the the letter V) didn't help.... While I'm getting better, it sucks to be in constant pain.... I'm hoping that it heals quick.....

My friend just bought a dark grey 2006 4.0l v6 5-speed Mustang. The shift knob top rotates fairly freely. I was taking it for a little drive, and tried to shift from first to second without fully gripping the shifter - I just sort of put my hand on the top right side like I do in the Cobalt. This should work since you're pulling it down and left to go to 2nd. However, the knob rotated a full 180, and my hand slipped off the shifter. Nothing bad happened from this - I just thought I should relate what is wrong. He said he's taken it in to the dealer to ask about it, and they said it's supposed to rotate, to "accomodate different grip styles". It'…

So when will GM update all their sites with the 2008 model info. I know for a fact that 08s are on dealer lots and more are arriving daily. Wouldn't you think that they would have their new info on the sites rolled out already so people can start shopping or researching for new car/truck/crossover? Can someone enlighten me...thanks.

I was looking at the pictures people are posting, sometimes with family members. The question of similarities and dissimilarities was brought up. I thought this would be an interesting topic. I put down "blended - more father" because when I went to upstate NY to meet part of my family on Dad's side, they had never seen me and we met at a mall to guide me back to the house in their subdivision with a bunch of cul-de-sacs, they picked me out and said "you look just like a (Dad's family surname)." But, then, a few features look like those on my Mom's brothers who, unfortunately, I can't stand! What about you? Which parent do you resemble more/most?

With the mention of the gatherings in various parts of the US, I started wondering if anyone here was thinking about going to Hot August Nights, and would be interested in using that show as a meeting event. The show dates are August 2 - 10. To me HAN has to be one of the best shows ever. All of the entries are 1972 and older American and European cars and trucks. Panther would probably have to be restrained. (j/k) This years entry limit is 5500 and if anyone thinks that is all that will be down there, they are nuts. It's one show where you have to put aside at least some of your prejudice for the car you own, simply because there is way too much you will miss unless …

My boss invited the few members of my department to attend a conference in Phoenix Thursday through Sunday (11/29-12/2). I'll be staying at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel and will be at the Phoenix Convention Center for the conference. There isn't too much free time Friday-Saturday, and I arrive late morning on Thursday. Anyone here from that area, or been to that area, that can tell me if there's something I should most defintely see? I may have free time Thursday afternoon, and it looks like the members of my team may be meeting for dinner Thursday night.

In the last month I have seen two '07 Aveo sedans on the side of a highway with smoke billowing out from under the hood. The first was here around Springgyfield, it was on the side of the road yet traffic was still backed up, and you could see flames poking out. The second was yesterday up near Jefferson City, where people apparently know how to drive, since it was on the shoulder and traffic was moving over, but not slowing to a creep. No flames, just thick smoke. It seems the new Aveo is indeed red hot.

http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/981613164.html Recently a deer ran into my car (not much damage, thankfully, but a visible dent on the rear passenger door) and I've been thinking about picking up a cheap older car with RWD to have fun with so I can save up for a new purchase a year or two down the road. I came across this '85 Cutlass today and am very tempted. Not much in the way of pictures, but it looks like a farm car (probably gently driven) and only has 90K on the odo. $1800 seems like a great price. Anyone know the reliability with G-body Cutlasses?

As my mother ages, she's gotten pretty frightened of thunderstorms, especially if there is a tornado watch involved. She lives in a trailer park, and keeps her little place neat as a pin. I guess having seen some of the destruction on the news over the years from storms in the midwest, has hightened her awareness. I usually use humor to try to calm her, and try to cite probability to show her that she'll be OK. Friday night, a tornado that was embedded in a thunderstorm, along with some destructive straight-line winds, blasted through her area, to within a mile of her home. She lost power, and said she heard a thunderous, constant roar for a while, but that she didn'…
