I wonder what people feel what GM lacks most, is it powertrain, fit/finish, comfort features or looks(inside and out). I feel personally that currently they are lacking in plain looks, they are well engineered but the looks of the new stuff is lame.. most still look cheap or give me the feeling that I am in something old!

Plenty of cars have been noted in my Car Spotting posts that I had missed for a good while, but there are sadly some that are pretty much gone forever. I mean, I can't remember the last time I've seen a: -Dodge Polara -77 Chrysler New Yorker like my grandpa had -B- or C-body Chrysler wagon -Fury or Coronet like the cops used to drive. -early 70s Charger or Satellite (it's like Chryslers just die off or something) -Oldsmobile Firenza (H or J-body) -pre-80 Buick Estate Wagon -first-gen Celica fastback -Audi Fox -first-gen Audi 4000 -Audi GT Coupe -some of those we…

Apple previously had a similar agreement with BMW, and said vehicle manufacturers, including Ferrari and Infiniti, soon will offer iPod integration. That makes 15 companies worldwide now offering or planning to offer iPod integration, the computer maker said. It expects more than 5 million vehicles…

I was walking to my 12:40 class today when I noticed green clouds moving in a swirling motion. I got to my class just as the wind was starting to pick up and the rain was beginning. A few people were behind me and I tried holding the door open but the wind was so strong that it kept blowing shut. I figured it was just a really strong thunderstorm, but it turns out that a weak tornado touched down in the center of campus with 83 mph winds. Eight people were injured by falling tree branches. Lots of trees are down but there is minimal damage to buildings. People came into class completely soaked and covered in dirt since there was dirt from a construction site nearby …

Another interior related thing I dislike is cleaning up from the night before. If the night before was a bad one, chances are there is blood or vomit in the back seat. If the night before was good, possibly some other fluids. Either way there are probably handprints and fingerprints all over the windows. But my absolute least favo…

When it came to cars and how I looked at them, these were the following weird thoughts that came to mind: -Until at least 88, I didn't understand that new cars replaced older versions of the same nameplate. I basically figured all these different looks of cars were still being built alongside one another. For instance: The Nissan Hardbody came out in 1986. I thought it was a bigger truck, or some truck made of different metal or something. I figured the older version was still available new at the dealer and that you still had a choice. I also thought the first-gen F-body was the "co…

I don't have any photos, but if I buy it I will have a few. The T/A has less than 100,000 miles, no rust, but needs some new trim, paint, and interior work. But it does run and will get me to and from school and work, which I will have by November. The engine is a 305, which I think - correct me if I'm wrong - is the incorrect motor for this car. Especially a brand like Pontiac, shouldn't there be more engine noise to make it feel sportier? Surprisingly, a Sunfire is a bit more quiet than a Cavalier because it has slightly better materials. But shouldn't it be the other way around? Is it like we should make a Pontiac as quiet as a Buick? I remember there were reports that people complained the Porsche 996 was too quiet and in the new one they had to make it noisier.

Alright guys, I know at the old site we had a long section of someone's ride taken up with just automotive photography questions. I've created this topic to keep from getting to that. My guidelines (please disagree; add some) 1. Use the rule of thirds. divide the viewfinder mentally into 9 equal sections, at the intersection of the lines dividing it, thats where the focus should go 2. Make sure the car is going into the picture. if you are taking a pic of a car, make sure the car isnt on its way out of the picture, make it look like its coming into the picture and towards you 3. Try to use dramatic lighting, taking pictures at …

NOTE: I figured somebody had to pick up the slack from 98's abscence, and post the latest Autoextremist articles. So I did. http://www.autoextremist.com/page6.shtml#table Detroit's NASCAR Infatuation. In an engaging interview with Mike Mulhern in last Friday's Winston-Salem Journal, Herb Fishel, the former longtime chief of GM Racing, let it hang out with his ongoing displeasure with NASCAR. Fishel told Mulhern that NASCAR is stuck "on a plateau" and that, "For the first time in recent memory there is no big story, no big direction. There has always been something that the world couldn't wait to hear more about. I don't remember a …

NOTE: I figured somebody had to pick up the slack from 98's abscence, and post the latest Autoextremist articles. So I did. Detroit. After wading through yet another glowing article about NASCAR, this time from Fortune magazine (September 5th cover date), it's clear to me that the mainstream media and sports marketing gurus have not only partaken of the NASCAR Kool-Aid, they've had taps installed in their houses for a constant free-flowing dose of it every morning. Members of the media in a kinder, gentler era would refer to Fortune's genuflection to and canonization of NASCAR as a "puff" piece. I'm not going to be that nice. This is 200…

This has got to be the worst natural disaster in history, forget the Tsunami's and where are these other countries? Where are the celebrities? This makes me sick. Watching this on TV, yet no country, nor any celebrity coming forward with a donation, or pledge to raise money. I'm about ready to start the C&G Donation working with the American Red Cross. It's the least I can do watching this terrible disaster on TV.

Well, I looked back on the lounge section and noticed there were no Katrina posts. If there were, my fault. Anyway. What does everyone think about this horrible disaster that seems to be getting worse everyday? Does anyone here affected or know someone who was affected by storm? I think it's horrible that so many people had died when many of those deaths could've been prevented but I think no one realized how bad this was going to be. Your thoughts...

Obviously, it's gotta be MiG. He's got the name, got the looks, and he's got the theatrics. He's no MICHAEL HUTCHENCE, or BO BICE even....(kidding, Bo has nothing on even the worst Rockstar contestant) "i.............wannabeinsideyourho-even" "i'm your VEE-HICK-YULE babay" Ah, you gotta get on Brooke's good side if you wanna win it all. Wait, that's not Brooke's best side he's working on! TURN AROUND, BROOKIE!!!! I did like Marty for awhile, and he's got THE LOOK, but he's kind of a BIG DULL DUD. Brandon was strange. JD is Canadian, so that's just wrong. Plus, he butchered suspicious minds. Only Elvis and Dwight Yoakam can do that song. …

dont know if it will work though Gas Prices TOOOOO HIGH IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES. THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1ST HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR @$$ " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY…

Whatsup guys, I know I'm kinda new to the forums, but just wanted to say how I have seen a lot of skill in the showroom section, with people chopping, specially Nos and Plumcrazy (sorry if i mispelled ur name), and i was thinking how the people on this forum should get more into chopping and designing cars, and especially in the contest section. I think even if the majority of people on this forum might not know how to chop cars, you guys still should give it a shot, because it would be cool to see maybe more than 6 or 7 entries in the contest. I would like to see probly like 15-20 entries, i mean out of more than 1,000 people on this forums, only 6-7 make contest c…

Have you heard about the new TV series coming. It's called Supernatural. It's these two brothers who travel around in their beat up '69 Chevy Impala to various small towns investigating strange goings-on. This one looks good to me. http://www.tv.com/supernatural/show/30144/summary.html

Well, I'm now without a soul, as it has been ripped out of me by the computer world underlords. I got my new laptop today, a Dell Inspiron 6000 with an Intel Celeron processor and, of course, Windows XP. Now what about this thing isn't evil? On the bright side, I sprung for the Mediterranian Blue cover for it, which is almost distractingly pretty. I bought it after I realized that school work goes a lot easier at the library, etc when I'm not writing, since I have horrible handwriting.

Thanks to that nice storm down there, it looks like there's a good chance gas taps $3.00 by the middle of next month... <_< They have people driven by fear that people are lining up to get gas tonight, and on the new they are talking about running out of gas...I don't think so.. And the price around here jumped 10 cents locally, though I'm hearing a few stations on the east side were creeping to 3 bucks... I'm not filling up...I'm thinking of using my bike a bit more...
