Well to make a long story short, two years ago I had a transmission fluid flush done on the Riviera at around 85K miles. At the time there was nothing "wrong" with it, I just wanted to treat my car to a bit of preventative care. Well I soon came to find that my decision to prevent possible transmission problems down the road was actually the cause of them. Soon after the car was serviced my smooth shifting transmission started slipping into overdrive. At first it was only when the car was cold and once it was at full operating temp it was fine. With things looking rough, everybody is looking for ways to cut back. At this point, even our cars will be affected... I've started a few things.... Cheaper oil and air filters (gotta love private brands-both are made by Wix) Changing my own brakes and rotors (something I have not tried yet) I got lucky and found some good deals on wax (mothers) to clean them up. I'm trying hard not to cheap out on the cars....gotta shop smarter. Is there anything you guys are doing on cutting back?

A while back I think I posted a question about the automatic locking feature...basically mine stopped working and I wanted to know why. I never bothered to get it fixed, and lived without it. I was browsing through my owner's manual today and came across information about the headlights. Basically you can program them to stay on for a minute or so after you turn the car off or disable the feature. It got me thinking....I wonder if the automatic locking system is programmable? I have too many computers and not everything organized correctly. Well I am really busy until nearly mid-June and so nothing will most likely happen between now and then but... I am thinking Cobalt/G5 Coupe with a 5spd. or a 2001-2002 GP GT Coupe. First off I think I have found basically exactly what I want, it has been for sale since early April with no offical price reduction yet. (Still same high price it was listed at.) Saturday, I cleaned up the Cobalt to take some pictures. As I was driving around town, I noticed another Cobalt behind me, driving a bit aggressively. I came to a red light, and it pulled up next to me. I took a quick glance, it was a Blue Granite LT four door with a young Latin driver, windows down, sunroof open, blasting his music. I'm looking for a new place to live and went to see a condo the other day. The landlord, Sanjay, has quite a nice place. The first problem was the price. His ad said $1249. When I got there, there was a surprise $150 home owners association fee. Almost every other place I've seen, the owner pays that fee. Sanjay wants to pass it on. Whatever, strike one. Today was the first day it really felt hot. Car thermometer said 130 when I started, but after a few min w/ the A/C on, it settled down to 100. Though one TV news channel says it was only 98. The economy is really quite that bad. We recycle, and the soda we've bought lately has been from NH, so the cans aren't redeemable. So we just put them in the recycle bin. well trash day comes and the bin has a bunch of non redeemable cans in it. Alter in the day I went to go get the bins and found the cans bin gone. It wasn't windy or anything so I can only assume someone swiped the bin with the cans in it. I mean seriously...you couldn't have just taken the cans out? Now we have to get another bin. Of course, whoever took them well be in for a surprise when they go to redeem them and the machine won't except it.

Go ahead pick you favorite one or two cars. Try not to select more than three! Keep in mind my needs, has to have a nice size trunk, good performance (think like my SLE, good), can be driven for fun on the weekends and also driven to school/work by my son or I during the week, should be a good car with few expensive repairs, oh and it must be GM. As I've alluded to previously, I recently found myself a second job to give myself more security, financially. Now having a loan payment and feeling obliged to upgrade to full coverage insurance, I can't live off my part-time hours at the Pharmacy, alone. The idea is that one job will cover those new expenses while I have the other for miscellaneous spending and saving. As the story goes, Esso Oil asked custom car guru George Barris (he of Batmobile, Munster Koach and Drag-u-la fame) to create four custom Oldsmobile Toronado coupes for the 1967 Canadian Expo. Apparently in Korea, trees don't require space for roots, and there aren't horrific winds at skyscraper heights! Some of the balconies may be ok (and some probably intolerably windy), but I can tell you this - those parks in the spaces that are open all the way through the building aren't going to have a single leaf on the trees. Wind tunnel anyone? The general idea is neat, but overall it seems like the ideas that make it interesting and unique are the most flawed.

Just wanted to let you all know that I won't be around for the next 3 days as I am taking the family on a mini-vacation to visit our nation's capital - Washington, DC. Two years ago we made this trek during the spring break and enjoyed it so much that we've been wanting to go back since. We took good old Amtrak back in 2007, but this time we'll be driving down in the AURA. My girlfriend and I are going to be heading down to San Fran then LA at the end of June. We saw plenty of these multi-level parking structures during our trip to NYC this past week, and even commented on how their space efficiency would work well in our own cities where giant parking garages dominate the landscape. Hey guys, so it is getting to be that time where I should start getting ideas of which car to purchase as my first one. I am turning sixteen in a few months (when I get my permit; a little early to look, yes, but it doesn't hurt), and I need to get a job, haha. I have about 1800 in the bank (not too terrible for someone my age) and I need to be able to afford insurance plus the car. So I ran out to get some errands done. Here is what happened on the freeway and my understanding of the lanes here in Washington State. Far left lane for passing and those wanting to go a bit faster than the posted limit. Middle lane is for going at least the speed limit. Far right lane is for going speed limit or slower and exiting the freeway. I got onto the freeway, traffic moving below the posted 60 so moved over into the middle lane and ended up behind a lazy person going 10 under the speed limit. So the other day I had to stop for gas on the way home from DC. Trying to mind my pennies, I stopped at a 7-Eleven gas station and put about $20 in the tank of the Bonneville. Today it was 61 with lots of sunshine, a few fair weather clouds, and a light breeze. This qualifies as the perfect day for me. Warm enough to wear shorts but cool enough to not break a sweat when doing activities outside. It really is a breath of fresh air after this past week of gray and rain, and after last night's events. We had to put our oldest cat, Rose to sleep last night. She's not been well for some time, but it got a lot worse yesterday morning. We decided that it was best to euthanize her to end her pain and suffering. We made an appointment for Monday morning. However when I was getting ready to go to bed last night at 2 or so, I noticed she was in her pet hut with her eyes open with a dead stare, not moving at all. It was painful to watch. We had to find an emergency center that was actually open. We took her their at 3am and they put her to sleep. I don't thinks he would have made it through the night. I wonder what's up with that? I've been on a hockey kick lately, so I decided to pick up NHL 09. (for ps2) I've played quite a bit of NHL 07, so I knew what to expect. 09 was a disaster, loading for anything took forever....so I gave up and got NHL 08. 08 is close to 07, so figured it should work fine. It works much better, but it freezes up during games ( I have yet to finish one) I know I had issues with the slim, and I even blew the dust out. It plays WWE wrestling, Nascar, and kingdom of hearts fine. I haven't tried 07 yet, but I will. Should I expect these games to freeze up?
