While visiting with the owner of my local Chevy Dealer, the subject of GM's future came up. He stated that with 40% of GM dealers being closed, it will be impossible for GM not to file for BK. He stated that GM could not get enough government cash, and doesn't have enough lawyers to cover all of the potential law suits. At the end of the conversation i was in agreement with him regarding this matter. Any thoughts on this?

went to a local gun show this morning and picked up a new toy. Got a Taurus PT 24/7 PRO Compact. I had looked at one before and almost got it, but backed out cause the show was coming up. the only thing i dont like about mine is that its got the factory sights, the other had heinke straight eights on it, but that will be fixed soon. i'll post some pics later. after taxes and all it came to $445. they had an XD .40 sub-compact for $519 but i backed out cause i like the fact that the taurus is a SA/DA. the XD also seemed a little too... little. Anybody else picked up something nifty in the shooting world lately?

We'll I am as of today joining the 9 million plus that are now unemployed. Only 2 weeks ago they company talked about how our new product division is so strong and great and boom, the upper mgmt shows up today flying in from San Jose to Seattle and immediatly pulls us all into a team meeting and informs us that under the new organization they will be closing down this engineering site. Each of us got a compensation package and the day to clean out our offices. So much for thinking our long hours and new products what securing our jobs through this depression. :nono: :nono:

Had a good long conversation with a sales rep there while ogling a white G8 GXP. They have had 4 and already sold 3. They are actively attempting to get more GXPs and GTs, and trying to trade away the G3s and G5s they reluctantly took as stock. The rep reported that most G8 sales are V8s and that most buyers were coming out of Euro brands. Just some food for thought. They have a Solstice Targa inbound.

Is this REALLY what everyone is so excited about? Is this REALLY 'markedly' better than the domestics?!?! LOL... What a scam!!! I heard this song the other day on TV or somewhere and it has been bugging me that I can't figure out who sings it. I have no idea what the lyrics are except that there is a male vocalist that goes "do - do Do DOO" repeatedly in the chorus, while a guitar is plucked. It's a very slow, mellow song...it reminds me of summer. I'm guessing it's from the 70s by the way it sounds, but I really have no idea. I'm pretty sure it has been used in one or more movies before.

With things looking rough, everybody is looking for ways to cut back. At this point, even our cars will be affected... I've started a few things.... Cheaper oil and air filters (gotta love private brands-both are made by Wix) Changing my own brakes and rotors (something I have not tried yet) I got lucky and found some good deals on wax (mothers) to clean them up. Well I am really busy until nearly mid-June and so nothing will most likely happen between now and then but... I am thinking Cobalt/G5 Coupe with a 5spd. or a 2001-2002 GP GT Coupe. A while back I think I posted a question about the automatic locking feature...basically mine stopped working and I wanted to know why. I never bothered to get it fixed, and lived without it. I was browsing through my owner's manual today and came across information about the headlights. Basically you can program them to stay on for a minute or so after you turn the car off or disable the feature. It got me thinking....I wonder if the automatic locking system is programmable? Saturday, I cleaned up the Cobalt to take some pictures. As I was driving around town, I noticed another Cobalt behind me, driving a bit aggressively. I'm looking for a new place to live and went to see a condo the other day. The landlord, Sanjay, has quite a nice place. The first problem was the price. His ad said $1249. The economy is really quite that bad. We recycle, and the soda we've bought lately has been from NH, so the cans aren't redeemable. So we just put them in the recycle bin. well trash day comes and the bin has a bunch of non redeemable cans in it. Alter in the day I went to go get the bins and found the cans bin gone. It wasn't windy or anything so I can only assume someone swiped the bin with the cans in it. I mean seriously...you couldn't have just taken the cans out? Now we have to get another bin. My girlfriend and I are going to be heading down to San Fran then LA at the end of June. We're going to fly into SF, stay about 4/5 days, rent a car and drive to LA, stay about 3/4 days, then fly back from there. LA I really don't know that much about. Where are the safe areas to stay? We had to put our oldest cat, Rose to sleep last night. She's not been well for some time, but it got a lot worse yesterday morning. We decided that it was best to euthanize her to end her pain and suffering. We made an appointment for Monday morning. However when I was getting ready to go to bed last night at 2 or so, I noticed she was in her pet hut with her eyes open with a dead stare, not moving at all. It was painful to watch. We had to find an emergency center that was actually open. We took her their at 3am and they put her to sleep. I don't thinks he would have made it through the night. Just wanted to let you all know that I won't be around for the next 3 days as I am taking the family on a mini-vacation to visit our nation's capital - Washington, DC. Two years ago we made this trek during the spring break and enjoyed it so much that we've been wanting to go back since. We took good old Amtrak back in 2007, but this time we'll be driving down in the AURA. My parents bought a brand new 1983 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ new; I was 8 y-o at the time. I essentially grew up with this car, and learned how to drive on it. So, I figure I'd throw out a nice, harmless topic. Have you cars got their springtime cleaning yet? I've found some good deals on wax, so as soon as it warms up, they should get a nice wash and wax. I've already started cleaning up the inside, but I'm debating about either getting a carpet cleaner, or maybe letting the a place clean it for me. My uncle was killed in a head-on collision a few hours ago with another vehicle. The other driver crossed the center line and stuck him on a two-lane highway north of Omaha. We have no details other than both died instantly. The last time I saw / spoke to him was at our annual family Christmas gathering, and I am now regretting not spending more time with him on that day. I'm basically in shock right now...the reality of it all hasn't hit yet.

Today it was 61 with lots of sunshine, a few fair weather clouds, and a light breeze. This qualifies as the perfect day for me. Warm enough to wear shorts but cool enough to not break a sweat when doing activities outside. It really is a breath of fresh air after this past week of gray and rain, and after last night's events. As I've alluded to previously, I recently found myself a second job to give myself more security, financially. Now having a loan payment and feeling obliged to upgrade to full coverage insurance, I can't live off my part-time hours at the Pharmacy, alone. The idea is that one job will cover those new expenses while I have the other for miscellaneous spending and saving. Apparently in Korea, trees don't require space for roots, and there aren't horrific winds at skyscraper heights! Some of the balconies may be ok (and some probably intolerably windy), but I can tell you this - those parks in the spaces that are open all the way through the building aren't going to have a single leaf on the trees. Wind tunnel anyone? The general idea is neat, but overall it seems like the ideas that make it interesting and unique are the most flawed.

We're going on a 4 day visit to my parents' place in Miami. Budget is offering a Solstice for $357.00. As the story goes, Esso Oil asked custom car guru George Barris (he of Batmobile, Munster Koach and Drag-u-la fame) to create four custom Oldsmobile Toronado coupes for the 1967 Canadian Expo.
